Moisturizers -Mario Badescu - Oil Free moisturizer
rated 1 of 5

I really wanted to like this moisturizer, it left my skin feeling quite soft and smooth, similar consistency to some make-up primers I have used, it does feel like it just sits on top of the skin as a barrier. But Mario Badescu how you have failed with this product! In my search for a new moisturiser a sales assistant recommended this 'basic moisturiser' for me and promised it would help balance my skin. I used this for over a month and my skin got progressively worse and worse, and I'm on the pill and this product was still making me breakout into huge deep pimples on my cheeks, I was mortified. Finally I stopped using this moisturiser and switched to jojoba oil, and what do you know, my skin has started healing up. Do NOT recommend, my skin has never reacted as badly to a product as this one!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I wear alot of eye makeup day and night, so I've always needed a good makeup remover that gets all the gunk off without damaging the skin around my eyes and my lashes. I've decided oil cleansers are the best for me, as it removes my makeup (MAC Fluidline, and dejavu Fibrewig mascara) thoroughly and without me losing a handfuls of eyelashes each time. I've tried Dermalogica Precleanse, Fancl's makeup remover too, and at a fraction of the price EVOO does the exact same thing. I've just poured some into a smaller bottle, and I just massaged it into my eyes and face at night and then follow up with a cleanser and the job is done. So much cheaper then the alternatives and all natural, can't go wrong!

Hair -John Frieda - Luminous Color Glaze-Clear

I rarely buy beauty products without checking the reviews on MUA first but I'm glad I purchased this on a whim! My hair cops alot of abuse from me, I've had it professionally straightened twice, I blowdry it every morning, and I bleach it and dye and basically commit all hair sins. As a result my waist length hair is not exactly in the best condition, I wake up in the morning and I have tangles that resemble a rats nest. Not attractive. However when I use the JF clear glaze it leaves my hair so much smoother, much less tangles, no rats nest! It's abit pricey and with my long hair I run out really fast, but it's a good product, I will repurchase!

Eyes -Unlisted Brand - Careprost~Generic Brand Latisse
rated 4 of 5

Background: I am Asian with little to no eyebrows , and naturally short short eyelashes. I first started using Lilash around a year ago and it has made the biggest difference to the my lashes, they are probably double the length they use to be, I get compliments all the time. However Lilash is pricey, and has the tendancy to make my eyes red and a little irritable so I thought I would try Careprost which is about half the cost (after shipping). So far I am very pleased with the results, I'm at the end of my first bottle, I'm using this still in conjunction with my Lilash but I can see results, my brows have thickened up slightly, and a gap in my bottom lashes that Lilash couldn't fill up has been filled by Careprost, my bottom lashes are much thicker now. I will defintely be using this in the future to try to maintain longer thicker lashes, highly recommended :)

Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
rated 4 of 5

I've been a regular Mac Fluidline user for years, purchased the Bobbi Brown eyeliner on a whim in duty free and I'm very happy with the purchase! Very similiar to the Mac, I use my Mac 266 brush to apply, and the colour is great, staying power is really impressive (even on my super oily eyelids) and I can tell even though I use it everyday it will last ages. Great buy, I don't know if I like this or my Mac better!

Shampoo -Batiste - Original Dry Shampoo

Wow this product is my life saver, let me explain. I have a full fringe and extremely oily skin. This oily skin leads to my fringe becomming extremely oily by the end of the day, so oily in fact that sometimes after if I have one event in the day, I'll have to shower and wash my hair again before I can go out again at night. My actual hair is not oily, its in fact on the dryer side because of all the straightening, dying etc. Anyway needless to say washing my hair everyday and sometimes twice a day is pretty frustrating, so when I heard about this product I couldn't really believe it. It sprays a powder like substance on your hair, you wait abit then you brush it out with a fine tooth comb and it soaks up all the oil, leaving your hair looking nice and clean!! Just spraying my fringe in between washes is so convenient for me, I love this product I cannot live without it. This product is cheaper then Klorane dry shampoo and to me the two products work the same.

I've also tried the other brand Batiste which is abit cheaper, also works the same. Give it a try!

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - New Flat Top Brush
rated 4 of 5
spamdy 7/20/2009 9:46:00 PM

I love this brush!! I've only had mine for a few weeks and I already want to buy a back-up brush haha. It is soooo soft and very dense, spreads my mineral foundation perfectly. And it actually retained it's shape after I washed it. I've had so many brushes just unusable after washing, but this one was almost as good as new. Love love, will buy again.

Powder -Bloom - Pure Mineral Powder Foundation
rated 4 of 5
spamdy 7/20/2009 9:02:00 PM

I've been using this foundation for a few weeks now and I'm pretty impressed. I only got started with mineral foundation after I tried the sample selection at Everday Minerals (which I'm also a fan of). For people who haven't tried mineral makeup and aren't convinced it really covers, it really does. I use to use powder to set my makeup and it never really dispursed any real colour, but mineral foundation is much more concentrated and really packs a punch, it really does cover those flaws I'm pretty impressed. The only thing I don't like about this Bloom foundation is that the packaging is abit too small, when I tap excess powder back into the container the foundation goes everywhere because the container isn't big enough. Other then that I do like it, will buy again.

Samples -Everyday Minerals - Free Sample Makeup Kit [DISCONTINUED/REPLACED]
rated 5 of 5
spamdy 6/30/2009 8:59:00 PM

Such a fabulous concept having free samples, and only having to pay for the shipping costs. I live in Australia and the shipping cost probably under AUD$10 but completely worth it. The samples are decent sized (although it's a little hard to get enough product out of the tiny jars) , and the choice of 3 foundations, a concealer and blush allows you to test the colours before you purchase a full sized one. Great product will recommend to friends.

Mascara -Dejavu (Imju) - Fiberwig Lash Knockout
rated 4 of 5
spamdy 6/29/2009 1:15:00 AM

This is my new daytime mascara, the formulation was very light, not what I expected at all, almost watery like alot of waterproof mascaras I use to wear. It is quite dark, holds to lashes quite nicely, although for my lashes to stay curled i need to do an intense curl first, which ends up as a more natural curl after I've put on the mascara. Also on my bottom lashes WHOAH, they look so dramatic with this mascara on, they look almot half a cm longer. For night time I would defn go for a thicker more dramatic mascara, but this is fine for me in the day time. It is much more a lengthening mascara then a volumising, even after several layers I feel there is no buildup, the formulation is too watery. Also an important note to make is the way it comes off, no panda eye at all, I love it, and it seems much less harsh on my lashes as I don't seem to pull any out as the mascara crumbles off when I take it off with my oil cleansers, probably my favourite part of this mascara! Will buy again

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set
rated 4 of 5
spamdy 6/17/2009 11:05:00 PM

I love these brushes, I picked these up on a whim because the brush I was using to apply my MAC Fluidline was starting to get abit tattered, and since the set was on sale I thought why not. The angled brush is great for applying my eyeliner, I use it as often as i use the MAC angled brush (I think its 2.66) , and I love the powder brush its so lush and soft, gives a decent application. I don't use the others as much, but they are all good quality brushes, very good for the price, I would recommend them. However the brush you use to brush off excess mascara from your brows breaks VERY easily, I've had to replace mine twice now .. Need to find a better one

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash
rated 3 of 5
spamdy 4/28/2009 1:52:00 AM

Although this product doesn't actually help my acne, I love the convenience due to the pump bottle and the consistency of the cleanser. Leaves my skin feeling nice and clean, probably better for people who have decent skin and are just looking for a cleanser to wash their face, not so much suited if you're looking for a product to fight acne. I like the product, I will repurchase.

Mascara -Kiss Me - HEROINE MAKE long and curl mascara (black)
rated 4 of 5
spamdy 4/22/2009 2:56:00 AM

This is my favourite mascara I've ever tried. Got it from Sasa when I was over in Hong Kong, but I can get it on Ebay now for about $20ish AUD. It defn makes my short Asian lashes look much much thicker, giving a much more dramatic look, I only use this in the night time now, I use Maybelline waterproof Full and Soft in the day. It builds volume with the little fibres, it CAN get clumpy if you don't apply it properly, but overall great mascara, have several tubes at home. Holds the curl great, my lashes are never droopy after I apply this mascara onto them, and holds all day. Although it is harder to get off then my other mascaras I just use an oil based cleanser like Fancl or Dermalogica Pre Cleanse and with a gentle massage (and a slight resemblance to a racoon) it'll come right off.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Lilash - Purified Eyelash Stimulator
rated 5 of 5
spamdy 4/20/2009 10:24:00 PM

So I've been using this product since the begining of April, which is almost two months now and I feel i can write a proper review. I'm not a fan of the eyeliner brush, its too long and I have trouble controlling it properly, so I actually chopped off the end to get more control in application. Now for the product itself, paying AUD$170 for it , I must admit I was quite impatient to see results. And there is definite growth in my lashes, I would say 2-4mm (side lashes even more), but only in my right eye! My left eye has had very little growth and I'm not sure why. Also when I first started using it, I had to endure almost a month of really red eyes, so ridiculously red I had to put in allergy eyedrops almost every hour to clear them. But in the second month it has cleared up thankfully or I would've had to stop using it. If I had had the same results in both eyes I would be ecstatic, I have bought a second tube just to concentrate on the left eye, hopefully it catches up soon! Btw with application I swipe it once over my lashes like I would to put on my eyeliner, but I also swipe some underneath the lashes to try to get it to the roots of the bottom lashes, I believe this is called tightlining when you use eyeliner. Anyway will keep using it, do love the results on my right eye, will update if any great changes. 18th June - Just bought my second tube, I ran out rather quickly because I'm quite liberal with application I try to get as much as I can on the roots. The lashes on my left eye have not only caught up I think they are now longer then the lashes on the right eye! There are still some stubbier lashes on both eyes and I wish growth was abit more consistent over all my lashes but you can't have everything. I love this product it truly works. And with the occasional swipe over my lower lashes, combined with Talika every other night has left my bottom lashes slightly thicker, I can see new baby hairs lining my eyes. Btw I hate the packaging purely because I can never see how much product I have left .. UPDATE: July 16th , lashes on both sides have caught up, lashes are sooo much longer then they were before, so noticable especially the side ones which were soo short before. I love it I will buy Lilash forever! UPDATE: 21st August, I've had several people asking me if I am wearing false lashes, even my MUM who never notices things like eyelashes, I've upgraded my rating to 5 stars, I will buy this FOREVER!! love love love UPDATE: 3rd December - I've noticed that my bottom lashes have been getting abit sparse, especially with one corner of my eyes it looks like I've chopped off all the lashes! but they're filling back in, but still abit worrysome!
