Styling Products -TiGi - Bed Head Headrush Shine Adrenaline
southrnbelle 2/21/2008 12:25:00 AM
I tried this for my blonde, highlighted hair with decent results. Then, I happened to try it on my children (latino with dark brown hair - his is short and straight, hers is a little wavy) when they were looking a little fuzzy. Excellent results on both of them!!! It seemed to smooth and shine their hair. Also, I LOVE the scent! Nice, fine, aerosol mist gives better product dispersement. It's a keeper.

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Waterproof Eyepencil in Pearly Brown 2L
southrnbelle 6/19/2007 9:22:00 PM
I bought this at Sephora after finding that the product I was shopping for was out of stock. I am so glad to have found this awesome eyeliner!! It last longer on me than any other eye pencil or cake I've tried!!! I have actually considered tossing all of my other eye pencils because I have used this constantly since buying it. The color is a rich natural brown - perfect for creating a darker lash line without screaming EYELINER. It is very soft and smudgy, but has great staying power. I love this pencil!

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - With Love by Hilary Duff

I don't know how to describe notes and such, but I like this fragrance. I was trying to decide between Britney Spears Fantasy and this, and decided on the HD because Fantasy is like Falling in Love, which I already own. I think HD is feminine and soft. BTW, I'm 36.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Individualist Natural Finish Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
southrnbelle 12/14/2006 12:32:00 PM
I bought this on a whim at CCO in Vellum (~$22 IIRC) about a month ago when I was on a foundation kick. It has less coverage than I had hoped. I'm not impressed with it. I'll finish my tube (squeeze tube is great, btw), but not repurchase. I'm not sure that a natural finish with great coverage is attainable. I'm liking Double Wear much more.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear (old formula)
southrnbelle 12/14/2006 12:27:00 PM
I've been using this in Ecru for the last month, off and on. I love the coverage it provides - conceals my ruddiness nicely. Initially, I was colormatched to Shell, which IIRC is the lightest, cool color in the range. I questioned the SA on selecting a cool shade for me, as I consider myself warm. Shell covered more like concealer on me, so I went back to try a different color and came home with Ecru. It's darker and neutral, but it's the one I prefer. As other reviewers suggest, I moisturize heavily prior to application. Sometimes I use a primer, sometimes I don't. I really don't need to use as much concealer when I use Double Wear. This is a real advantage for me, since I have such darkness under my eyes, but most concealers are kind of cakey there for me. The SA at the Macy's counter was very helpful, and decanted generous samples for me. Price is $32.50, which I thought was high. Minor rants: 1) I bought this to wear to a family celebration. SA told me it was "photo-friendly" according to their literature. I wore it and look like Casper in all of the pictures. 2) Why don't they put a pump on it? A little of this foundation goes a long way. As mentioned by other reviewers, I got the MAC pump and it solved the problem. Perfect solution!! BTW, I saw Double Wear at CCO for ~$22. I'll buy it there next time!

Treatments -Philosophy - The Microdelivery Peel Pads
southrnbelle 12/14/2006 12:16:00 PM
I'm sorry if I'm writing this review prematurely. I've used these pads 3 nights in a row. Did not use them the 4th night. Today, the 5th day, I have 2 new pimples. I do love the pad for it's convenience and ease of use; however, I just don't see any results. I may finish the jar to see if over time I start to see the glow (and isolate the variable that may be causing the breakouts). Not impressed so far. I love philosophy and wanted to love these. :-(

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Smashing Cream Eyeliner
southrnbelle 11/16/2006 11:28:00 AM
I don't have much to add to the other reviews. I thought I was doing something wrong because it disappears on me! Also, it dried out before I would ever make a dent in the pot. The only positive here is that trying this product taught me how to apply cream eyeliner with a push brush.

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
southrnbelle 11/14/2006 11:27:00 PM
I've been using this cream for the last 2-3 months, day and night. It is great for under makeup and for nighttime. My skin has never been better since using this, Purity Made Simple, and Hope in a Jar for eyes and lips. The consistency is not like I expected (it's chunkier), but it absorbs nicely and leaves a good amount of moisturization without feeling heavy or greasy. This version of Hope in a Jar does NOT make my eyes sting, like the previous version did.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
southrnbelle 11/14/2006 11:22:00 PM
I've been using this cleanser for the last 2-3 months and love it!! It leaves my skin feeling just right - not tight or dry and not slick. It is very effective at removing makeup, with the exception of eyeliner and mascara, which I need to rub a little harder with a washcloth (or use separate eye makeup remover). Fresh citrusy smell, too. Great cleanser!!

Scrubs -Sephora - indulgences - coffee and cream morning body scrub
southrnbelle 9/18/2004 12:12:00 PM
This product smells fantastic; however, I also bought it to be an effective scrub, which it is not. The base is too liquidy for the abrasive parts - I mean, it's too runny to stick to my skin as I'm scrubbing. I love the scent, and I think that for the moisturizing qualities, it is highly effective (thus, I would buy this again). Strictly as a scrub, however, I would not repurchase.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals Foundation #2
southrnbelle 9/18/2004 12:07:00 PM
I am seriously thinking of throwing out all of my other cream, powder, and liquid foundations because I love the BE foundation!! I've been using it exclusively for several months and my skin has never been better. I still have monthly breakouts, but aside from that my skin has been great! My ruddiness is greatly diminished, too. My mom has commented a few times that I look like I'm not wearing foundation (meaning no line, no caking) when I have this on. I know I sound like the women who call in to QVC with their testimonials, but it's true. One more thing, the jar will last a long time. I still have plenty left after months of daily use.

Lotions/ Creams -Victoria's Secret - Vanilla Lace Hand & Body Lotion
southrnbelle 4/8/2003 12:20:00 AM
I have enjoyed wearing this creamy, sweet vanilla fragrance for a while, but finally decided to write a review because DH hugged me tonight and said, "Mmmm, you smell like cookies" (at least 8 hours after putting the lotion and EDT on). I prefer Vanilla Lace to BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar. It does have better staying power, and to me, Vanilla Lace smells more feminine-vanilla than foody-vanilla (despite the cookie comment). The only thing I can't understand is why they have to put so much artificial color in the lotion. It's very yellow in the bottle - weird! Great product, though.

Lip Liners -MAC - Lipliner in Test Pattern
southrnbelle 4/7/2003 9:49:00 AM
I found this at Cosmetics Company Store for $8.25. It is a greyish-pink which is a great color for canceling any pinky-redness in my not highly pigmented lips. I like to wear it under all lighter lipsticks as a base. One point off for packaging because the cap has fallen off in my purse a time or two. If I had a choice, I would probably have chosen a warmer color of the same depth; however, CCS store shopping is like a box of chocolates. . .

Hair -Nick Chavez - Perfect Plus Color Enhancing Shampoo and Conditioner
southrnbelle 4/7/2003 9:41:00 AM
This was part of a TSV kit on QVC last year. I have the kit in Golden Blonde and just finished the bottles of shampoo and conditioner. I really can't see a difference in my hair color after using just the shampoo and conditioner; however, when I use the mousse, I really can see a difference. The shampoo and conditioner are fine for cleaning and conditioning, but they do leave blobs of orangish product on your shower walls if you splatter! I won't repurchase because the sell is for the color enhancing properties, which are benefits that I did not derive. Note: my hair is normal, dark blonde with lighter blonde highlights.

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Wet shine diamonds liquid in Sparkling Sand
southrnbelle 4/7/2003 9:35:00 AM
I bought Marquise Peach and Sparkling Sand in a BOGO promotion at Ulta. I'm sorry to say that I'm not really thrilled with this product. This gloss, much like my Wet 'n Wild glosses, seems to evaporate almost immediately when worn on it's own leaving bits of microglitter stuck to my lips. Over lipstick, it seems to stay longer and look better, glossier, prettier. I think I just prefer a thicker, stickier gloss. Sparkling Sand looks like clear, slightly glittery gloss when I wear it alone - not very exciting.
