Powder -Chanel - poudre universelle libre(natural finish loose powder)
sohvi 7/19/2011 11:32:00 AM
I have this one in Peche Clair, which is a very light apricot colour. When I bought this, me and the saleswoman were debating whether I should get the Clair or the Peche Clair. While my skin is really fair, I have problems with redness around my nose. Plus I have to be careful with not looking too deadly. For foundation, I'm using Vitalumière in Clair right now-while I like its dewy look, you definately need powder to set it. So we settled on the Peche Clair because it gave me a more "healthy" look. It's perfect with my foundation (which can sometimes be a tad too dark/yellow, but makes my skintone look super healthy), really perfects it. This combo photographs very well. The Poudre universelle libre seems to have sort of an airbrushing effect, I do not know how to describe it properly. It diffuses light in the most flattering way. The scent is light, almost non-detectable. BTW, I don't use the puff that comes with it. I use a powder brush. I brush it over my foundation, put on my blush and set my blush after that as well.

Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
sohvi 7/19/2011 11:18:00 AM
One word: LOVE! I usually cannot wear eye make-up. I end up with conjunctivitis the next day. I have had a hard time finding a mascara that I can at least wear for an evening (Clinique Just Glossy) and absolutely can't do eyeshadow. So I looked into liquid eyeliner. I have always loved the classic black eyeliner look and tried several eyeliner pencils out there (one of them being the Clinique liquid eyeliner, which just won't stay on). So, after reading several rave reviews and watching youtube videos, I had to try this one. I bought the pot along with an angled brush and boy am I hooked. Painting it on is easier than using a pencil. Correcting it with a q-tip works. It's pitch black. And the best? It stays on all day and my eyes tolerate it! The price is ok as the little pot will probably last forever. Verdict: Probably the best eyeliner out there, love love love it!

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco Shine #63 Rebelle
sohvi 7/19/2011 11:11:00 AM
I love this lipstick! It's probably the best daytime red if you don't want to wear a "full-on" red lipstick. The texture is gorgeous, moisturizing, non-sticky and not too glossy. Just perfect. I was cautious about the new Rouge Coco "shine" line because I'm not a fan of glossy lipsticks, but Chanel really outdid themselves with this one. The red is something inbetween a true red and a cherry red/ slightly cool-based I'd say, but not too noticeable. Both my mum and I wear it, and she's way more warm-toned than me (think dark hair, olive skin) and it looks amazing on both of us. The packaging is the usual Chanel quality: sturdy, elegant in black and gold (the tub is a little slimmer than the regular Rouge Coco lipsticks). The top clicks on safely. Yes, it's no cheap lipstick. But to me it's worth every cent I paid for it.

Sunscreen -Clarins - (New Formula) UV Plus Day Screen SPF 40 High Protection with E3P
sohvi 7/19/2011 11:04:00 AM
I tried the tinted version of Clinique's City Block before this, which was way too dark for me and made me break out. I decided to give the Clarins sunscreen a try after reading the reviews on MUA. I cannot wear body sunscreen on my face bc it makes me break out like hell. Clarins goes on smoothly, doesn't make my skin too oily or sweaty and will wear well under make-up. I like the fact that it is spf 40, so far I have not had any sunburn using it. The downside? The price and that I'm not 100% break-out free using it (but it is way better than any sunscreen I have thus far used!).

Treatments -Dr. Brandt - Pores No More
sohvi 7/14/2010 4:17:00 PM
I had the chance to try this out as a sample before purchasing the full size (which I did) and WOW! This stuff works! I normally do not have oily skin, in winter I tend to be on the dry side, but during summer my skin sweats like crazy and gets really slick. Nothing stays on. I also tend to get breakouts a lot more during the warmer months. My pores are generally small EXCEPT for my nose and some parts of my upper cheeks. This made them disappear completely. My whole skin seems evened out and make-up goes on smoothly (I had problems with make-up clinging to normally non-existant wrinkles before!). It also helps keep the sweating at bay, helping make-up stay on better. It smells of tea tree oil, which I personally like a lot. The smell doesn't stay for very long once it's put on, so it's not really noticeable. The packaging is elegant and makes dosage easy. The downside? The price, absolutely. I paid 45€ for the tube. Granted, you only need a minimal amount for your entire face (a pea-sized portion, or even less), but it's still hefty.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle 05
sohvi 7/14/2010 4:03:00 PM
This was my second Rouge Coco lipstick and like many others, I'm very impressed with the new Chanel lipsticks. The colour: A warm, nude rosy-beige. Hard to describe, but I think this will fit most, if not all types (I myself tend to look best in cool tones, but this one was an exception). It's a classic go-to, everyday versatlie colour. On me, it looks a lot like in the ads (so I think). The texture: Not too creamy, not too matte. It's just right. No glitter. I do not find it drying. Staying power: Lasts quite a while, depending on what you're doing... I take it off before eating though. Scent: Lovely rose-scented, I love the smell! Packaging: Typically Chanel, gorgeous and oh-so chic. Overall, I'm in love with this new range of lipsticks and Mademoiselle is probably its signature colour.

Lipstick -MAC - Retro Matte - Ruby Woo
sohvi 7/14/2010 3:53:00 PM
If you look for a blue-based red that's MATTE (really matte), Ruby Woo's for you! Yes, it dries out your lips and yes, if you haven't prepared your lips well enough before applying it, it will cling to each and every crease... I still give it 5 lippies because there's just no comparable lipstick out there. It looks simply gorgeous. It's matte and will stay put. The smell (vanilla) is nice. The price is alright and the packaging is simple but elegant. One of my HG products (and my favourite red lipstick).

Polishes -Chanel - Black Satin - European Version
sohvi 7/3/2009 11:48:00 AM
This might be my new favourite np... It is a true black, no sparkle, just a little satiny sheen. It's not a goth/emo polish, to me it seems grown up and put together/ sleek when applied to well-groomed, short nails. The consictency is quite nice, not runny at all, but also not pasty. Just lovely and creamy. Fairly easy to put on even for someone like me who only wears np on weekends. I find that one coat is sufficient for me (I do the base coat/ np/ top coat routine though). At first the price seemed really high to me, but this polish really is worth every cent. Definately the HG of black mail polishes! I am actually glad that it has *no* sparkle. So chic!

Fragrances -Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - Old Morocco

This is IT. I love this scent. It sucks that BPAl isn't easily available here in Germany, but well. It's spicy and I smell quite a lot of vanilla, which blends superbly with the other notes. It's a bit incencsy and smokey, which makes it a warm, sexy scent. I got lots of compliments with this!

Fragrances -Anna Sui - Anna Sui Fragrance
sohvi 12/16/2006 8:27:00 AM
This is one of my signature scents. I have been wearing this perfume since I was 15 and am still hooked. It's simply perfect for all occasions, day as well as night. It's flowery without giving you a headache or being overpowering. Very well composed. Not sharp, not childlike, perfect for all ages I would say. The bottle: this was what caught my attention to begin with. It's just too pretty. It has that sort-of-antique mixed with hippie-ish stlye vibe to it. I will definately re-buy this one as long as it will be available. It's a classic for me already.

Fragrances -Yves Saint Laurent - Paris Roses des Vergers
sohvi 12/16/2006 8:21:00 AM
I generally love rose scents and when I smelled this perfume in the shop, I was instantly hooked, I don't know why. It's very light but pretty rosey, perfect for younger and older women alike (I'm 21 and my mum thinks it's gorgeous, too). I like the bottle and the packaging, matches perfectly. If only I had waited until the price was reduced :( But then again, the big bottle was worth its price and you never know when a LE is sold out. I never owned YSL Paris, so RDV was my first love. I do agree that it is not THAT longlasting. On the other hand, it's not overpowering at all. THE spring scent for me personally.
