Liquid -La Roche Posay - Toleriane-Corrective Fluid Foundation

I bought this trying to find a slightly cheaper alternative to my Clinique Anti Blemish - anomie thing that would cover blemishes and do nice things to my skin! I'm really not overly impressed to be honest- its very thick and a bit too much coverage (think it would be really good if you wanted it to cover redness or uneven skin tone though), my face just felt a bit like a white sheet as the lightest tone was just too light but the one above far too orange. It seems to highlight my pores and any under-skin blemishes, and I think the last time I had to use powder this much to get rid of shine on my t zone I was a teenager! Overall I think this would be great if you have really smooth skin and just want to correct redness, but really not for me!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Volume Million Lashes Luminizer (Blue eyes)
rated 5 of 5
snowflakegirl 1/7/2012 5:15:00 PM

I am a complete convert to this! Asked for it for Christmas as something interesting to try and I'm so impressed. I have quite long lashes and usually any mascaras which are volumising clump quite badly so I tend to go for something more defining instead, but this actually does both, length and volume and it does not budge, which is great for me as I wear contacts and rub my eyes a lot. It looks a shimmery deep blue on the brush but appears black when it's on. I wouldn't say it makes my eyes incredibly blue but there is a bit of a difference (and my mum said it made my eyes much bluer so maybe it's just me being a cynic!). Fantastic value, will definitely repurchase and try the eyeliner.

Styling Products -Kevin Murphy - Anti Gravity
rated 5 of 5

I usually can't go anywhere near nice salon-y products as I either react to them or they weigh my hair down so it looks greasy after half an hour! However I've been using this now for a few years and it is completely indispensable, once it's on my hair it's not noticeable but if I run out you really do notice the difference! Definitely gives my hair volume which lasts all day, and I think it makes it less fuzzy in bad hair weather. The lavender smells lovely and my hairdresser told me it's actually quite protective &calming for the hair ( not as a sales pitch, she knew I would always buy it anyway!).

Foundations -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One
rated 1 of 5
snowflakegirl 9/12/2011 8:51:00 AM

I'm not sure if this counts as a proper review as I didn't actually buy the product... I was really excited when this came out but just thought I would try the tester first to see the texture, I have sensitive skin but am usually OK with Garnier products so I didn't think reacting to it would be an issue - very wrong! This gave me possibly the strongest bad reaction I've ever had just from something I tried on my hand, I could feel my skin sting immediately! So basically I just wanted to post to say if anyone who has sensitive skin is considering buying this, make sure you try it first!

Polishes -Mavala - Nail color cream
rated 5 of 5
snowflakegirl 8/21/2011 5:12:00 AM

Why do not enough people know about Mavala polishes?! Absolutely cannot fault them, fantastic colours, long wearing, cheap enough to be a regular impulse purchase (£5 in UK) and most of all 3 free! I have an allergy to Tosylamide Formaldehyde Resin (aka Touluene), and so many companies seem to have misleading messages about it (be REALLY careful with OPI as the vast majority of their polishes contain it even though they claim to be 3 free since about 2007), but these definitely are and it's fantastic. And the smaller bottle means you don't have to pay for a colour which will go out of fashion or more polish than you will use before it starts to dry up. Can't say anything bad about them.

Concealers -Rimmel - Hide the Blemish
rated 5 of 5
snowflakegirl 6/18/2011 5:49:00 PM

This is the one product that was in my makeup bag when I was 13 and is still there! I've tried various other concealers over the years but nothing covers up a spot like this, it has been a lifesaver at times! It works for what I use it for; covering up individual spots, but I don't think the consistency is right to use for under eye circles or larger areas as it is just too thick to blend easily over a bigger area and would cake on delicate under eye skin.

Concealers -Clarins - Instant Light Perfecting Touch
rated 4 of 5
snowflakegirl 6/18/2011 5:37:00 PM

While I love Clarins skincare, I'm not always as keen on their makeup, so probably wouldn't have considered this if I hadn't had it tried on me at the counter, but am really glad I did! I've been using Clinique Airbrush, which I thought was fine but this is just that little bit better, definitely much less product used to cover any dark circles or uneven skintone and a really natural finish which makes my face look somehow more awake! It's not great for full on blemishes, but that isn't really what it's supposed to be so no issue with sticking to my trusty Rimmel for that! Really like the applicator too. The only issue is that it does settle into fine lines around the eye a bit once you think it is all blended, so you do need to make sure you do a final check in the mirror before leaving the house!

Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel
rated 5 of 5
snowflakegirl 5/8/2011 3:47:00 PM

Mascara is the one beauty product I always seem to fall for the hype on, I keep trying mew ones as they come out, finding them OK or not very good, and then going back to this until something else catches my eye! I think I just need to stick to this from now on, as nothing else is as good! I've got quite long, thick lashes anyway, and Inimitable makes them longer and more defined while looking totally natural and never ever clumping. I will still have a bit of a flirt with Lancome Hypnose for evening wear, but this is most definitely my daytime HG.

Polishes -Chanel - Mimosa
rated 4 of 5
snowflakegirl 5/8/2011 3:25:00 PM

I tried this on not really expecting to like it but had to head back to the counter ten minutes later to buy it! It's a really summery colour, I expected it to be a bit harsh but the shimmer really lifts it, and it will definitely look much better with a tan! For me, this is definitely a 3 coat polish, so one lippy off for that, but I'm definitely going to try it over Intermezzo as suggested below!

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia
rated 5 of 5
snowflakegirl 5/8/2011 3:20:00 PM

I have to admit that my Mia has turned me into a complete cleansing geek, I'm really looking forward to taking my makeup off at night! I've been using it for about a month, and can definitely say that it's improved my skin a lot. I had quite badly scarred skin and uneven skintone from using a pill which really didn't agree with my skin and was losing hope that I would ever be able to get back to normal, but this has just about done it, there's a massive difference and my skin keeps improving more (I know the Mia is just meant for face but I've been using it on my back too and it's been fantastic!). The pill had also left me with blackheads on my chin which have now just about disappeared, although the ones on my nose are still not going anywhere. My pores are definitely less visible and a couple of fine lines around my eyes have disappeared completely! Overall, my skin is glowing and I'm back to being able to wear tinted moisturiser rather than foundation again! I use the Mia with Clarins Pure Melt in an evening for my face, and Neutrogena Body Clear Pink Grapefruit in a morning for my back.

Lip Treatments -Kiehls - Lip Balm #1
rated 5 of 5
snowflakegirl 12/14/2010 5:14:00 PM

I'd forgotten how much I loved this! I used to always have this in my handbag but didn't replace when the last one ran out. With the cold weather coming back, my lips had been so cracked so I bought a new one, and they are so much softer & happier now! I'd been using Carmex, which I do still love, but you just can't beat how smoothing & hydrating this is.

Mascara -Clinique - high definition lashes
rated 4 of 5
snowflakegirl 12/14/2010 5:11:00 PM

I borrowed this product from a friend when I made the massive mistake of going to a festival without my makeup bag, and loved it from the start - it really does separate and define, making lashes look really long but with some volume too. Having now bought my own, most of the time it's still really good, but it does seem to have some clumpy days, so I give it a bit of a break and go back to my Inimitable. It doesn't layer well - tends to start clumping, but I'm using it for an everyday look so that's not really an issue. It also seems pretty smudge proof - I wear contacts & rub my eyes loads during the day, and this doesn't seem to shift much at all!

Treatments -Clarins - Face Treatment Oil - Lotus
rated 5 of 5
snowflakegirl 12/14/2010 5:07:00 PM

I've been using this for a few months, but I think it's finally started to properly have an effect - it really has made my skin less oily, but much more hydrated at the same time! Also I now keep getting compliments on the 'glow' my skin has, which I put totally down to the oil. You really only need a tiny bit, so it lasts ages. I was using the Clarins Multi Active night cream but have replaced it with this and my skin is loving it!

Concealers -Clinique - Airbrush Concealer
rated 4 of 5
snowflakegirl 5/8/2010 1:33:00 PM

Made the mistake of checking which brands have good reputations regarding animal testing, and was most upset to find that YSL are decidedly dodgy, which means no more touche eclat! I've tried this before, and not been too impressed, but this time it seems to work much better, I like the creamier texture and the colour is much better. It totally covers my dark circles, and works really well on blemishes as it's great to blend. I'm not sure how good it would be for anyone with more hereditary dark circles though, as mine tend to only get worse when I'm dehydrated, so don't really need anything too heavy duty.

Liquid -Clinique - Anti Blemish Solutions Liquid Make Up
rated 4 of 5
snowflakegirl 5/8/2010 1:27:00 PM

I switched to this from DW Light, when my skin decided it really didn't like me much any more and I became far too prone to breakouts! It really did work - my skin improved within about 3 days, I still get the occasional spot, but tends to be much smaller and go much sooner - my skintone has evened out too. It's better than DW in terms of the range of colours, and gives a really nice fresh look, but it's not as long-lasting, and coverage isn't quite as good so I'll definitely be holding onto the DW for nights out, and stick with this for everyday until something comes along which combines the two!
