Eyes -Merle Norman - Eye Shadow

I bought the Cloud Nine eyeshadow quad, and at first I wasn't too impressed with it. I should have tried it on before I bought it, but I was in a hurry to get it. After all, the girl in the ad looked so good with it! I didn't find the shadows as pigmented as I had hoped, but they do last a long time. Also, one of the pans of shadow wasn't glued into the compact very good. It hardly shows up on me if I just put it on dry. If you apply this shadow wet, it looks very good, and I have received compliments on it. Also makes a great eyeliner.

Lipstick -Victoria's Secret - Tame

This lipstick is basically pretty good. I got it in a kit along with some other lipcolors, lipgloss, eyeshadow, and mascara. It seems (maybe it's just because of my coloring), that if I wear the Tame lipstick, it really only looks good with the eyeshadow colors in this specific kit (paprika, cashmere, and mystic). If I wear it with other colors, it just doesn't look right! I'm fairly light-skinned with medium brown hair and hazel eyes. Dusk lipcolor is the one I use the most from VS.

I'm amazed at the quality of this eyeshadow by Cover Girl. I had a hard time finding it too; every place was sold out! This looks great with my hazel eyes, and the price is right! Much better than Maybelline!

Lipstick -Mary Kay - Lipsticks

I usually like most Mary Kay products, and use to really love their lipsticks. Then I recently bought some lipstick and was totally disappointed! It was heavily scented and didn't wear very well. It was also kind of irritating. Save your money!

Crème -Mary Kay - Cream-to-Powder Foundation
snikkibug 11/29/2003 5:22:00 PM
This is my favorite creme foundation by far! I always keep coming back to this. Provides great coverage and leaves your face smooth enough to use without powder. I didn't buy a compact for mine; I'm low on money and the foundation is expensive enough!

Lipstick -Maybelline - Wet Shine Diamonds
snikkibug 11/28/2003 5:38:00 PM
The ad for this product is very misleading; my lips looked nothing like the girls in the ads! Maybe for about a second, but then the lipstick dries and your left with nothing, just a gritty film on your lips and maybe just a hint of color. Wouldn't purchase again!

Tools -Alexis Vogel - The Alexis Vogel System

I was suckered into buying this from watching her infomercial early one Saturday morning. I bought the light kit. I have mixed feelings about it, actually. On the one hand, I liked the DVD. It gives a lot of good information, but the part on hair is pretty much common knowledge. The highlight of the whole DVD was learning how to do "cat eyes", but I found out later there is a website that explains this. I believe it's makeup411.com. You can find the video/DVD on eBay. My opinion on the tools/makeup in this kit? Well, I really like the cake eyeliner, eyeliner, and eyeshadow. I would probably buy these products again. The tools, well, they are adequate. The brow stencils? okay, but you can find them for under $5 at a drugstore. The makeup sponges- They are made out of latex, so they irritated my face. The foundation, I didn't care for. Didn't provide a lot of coverage and was hard to get out of the container (if you have this kit, you know what I mean. The colors are divided up into wedges and you can't fit your sponge into it!) I use Mary Kay creme-to-powder foundation and love it. The concealer- Didn't really use it so can't give a good opinion about it. The blush is pretty, it looks kind of like a gaudy pink but goes on nice. The lipstick looks like something out of the 60's. You really have to tone it down with the foundation or it looks like you had a bubbalicious explosion on your lips! The lipgloss, bliss, I really liked, and also the sugar shimmer powder. I think you might find cheaper substitutes around though. I believe Cover Girl Wetslicks has a shade of this pink that isn't quite so "gooey". The eyebrow pencils- well, you would be better off using eyebrow powder; it's more natural. The powder- Made my face look pasty. I think that about covers it (lol). Oh, one more thing. I think there should have been an eyeliner brush included in the kit; it is sold seperately, but the total eye brush they include with the kit, well you can't draw a line with it worth a darn. I think most of these cosmetics can be substituted, they aren't the best. Definately over-priced. Also, I think that shadow shammy is a rip; just fold over a kleenex and use that!
