Fragrances -Diptyque - Philosykos
snazzalicious 5/9/2013 10:15:00 PM
I'd been dying to sniff this after hearing so many rave reviews about this, and the Diptyque candles. It's difficult to "rate" a perfume as everyone has their own likes and dislikes to smells, much like music. Also, everyone's body chemistry is different so no perfume will smell exactly the same on two people. I digress. I stumbled upon a shop in Japan that stocks Diptyque and I got very excited. I spritzed Philosykos on my pulse points and sniffed. At first I got a very strong smell of crushed leaves -- whether they are crushed fig leaves, I am unsure as I've never smelt crushed fig leaves -- I was amazed at how well the perfume mimicked that smell. I giddily waited for a smell that would remind me of being in Greece and walking close to the sea. I don't know why I was expecting this as it's supposed to be a very green scent. After about 10 minutes I could smell a tinge of coconut, but my nose would be plunged straight back into the green, though not as sharp as the opening notes. In about 20 minutes it started to smell a bit soapy and green, and I wasn't too happy about it. The smell of the perfume faded pretty much within an hour of me spraying it on myself. Was not impressed with the sillage and longevity of it considering the price tag. It is definitely an interesting smell, and even though I desperately wanted to love it, it's just not for me. Definitely give it a chance and try it for yourself if you love the smell of fresh, green figs and fig leaves.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Midnight Fantasy Britney Spears
snazzalicious 4/15/2013 3:12:00 AM
We all know that celebrity perfumes have gotten really out of hand, but Midnight Fantasy is one of the few that I think are actually worth your money. A lot of lovely descriptions from other reviewers about the scent, and I completely agree. I first smelt it wafting around the air at a party once and I fell in love immediately. I had to know what the perfume was and luckily the wearer was able to tell me it was a Britney Spears perfume. It just smells like the yummiest lollies, it's such a sweet yet sexy (ergh, sorry for that!) smell, perfect for summer nights out, and when you're feeling fun. The lasting power is great and I've re-purchased it, plus have one sitting around once I'm done with my current one.

Polishes -OPI - My Private Jet
snazzalicious 4/15/2013 3:00:00 AM
I have the "brown" version of the OPI My Private Jet, and although the holo one looks nice, I really like the version that I have. I think the colour is absolutely gorgeous and I always feel really chic with this colour on even if it is 'dark'. I feel like this is a colour you could get away with wearing even in a stricter work environment. It has a lot of depth to it, and the amber sheen you see in the bottle doesn't translate onto your nails, which I don't mind. I would say it's a dark grey charcoal, it's not black-as-the-night black. It goes opaque in 2 coats, but if you prefer, you can always do 3. The consistency isn't too thick or runny, and it's easy to apply. With a top coat it lasts around 4 days. I really don't mind I don't have the "original" version, this polish, no matter what formulation you get, is still gorgeous.

Lotions/ Creams -Korres - Japanese Rose Body Butter
snazzalicious 1/24/2013 2:14:00 AM
When I was in a store that sold Korres products, I was super excited to finally try them out after reading so much about them. I completely passed on smelling this body butter because I'm really not a fan of rose scents. They're usually just a generic rose scent I'm not fond of. Because of this, I completely passed on this product and caught my first whiff of it when my aunt used it on herself. Turned out that she didn't like it (wasn't quite what she wanted), but for me, it was love at first whiff. It's a delicious sweet, kind-of-rose-but-not scent. This lotion sinks into the skin very quickly, doesn't leave you feeling like there's a film of your moisturiser on your skin constantly, and it made my skin super soft. I loved using this during summer, it's such a beautiful scent, I can't get enough of it and have also bought myself the shower gel. Cannot recommend this enough!

Gels/Soaps -Korres - Japanese Rose Showergel
snazzalicious 1/24/2013 2:07:00 AM
I don't like the smell of rose products. I love the real thing, but no product can smell like the real thing. The funny thing about Korres' Japanese Rose is that it doesn't really smell like a rose at all. It's actually more of a strong fruity, kind-of-rose smell. I absolutely adore it. The body cream and shower gel are musts for anyone who loves sweet scents and great products. The shower gel lathers up nicely, is free from a lot of nasties, and leaves you smelling delicious. Makes shower time that much better when you have this delicious smell wafting around you. I highly recommend it!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion water resistant
snazzalicious 1/24/2013 2:02:00 AM
This my absolute HG mascara. I have tried a fair few, including Maybelline's Falsies, which I ended up swapping my sister for her new tube of this because I didn't like it at all. The thing that I love about this is that it doesn't give me the dreaded spider lashes. Instead, even in just one coat, it gives me amazing volume and great length. In a couple of coats, it's just perfect. I can't leave the house without putting it on. These aren't waterproof, so don't be disappointed if you can't go swimming in these, but they do last well if you do happen to just splash your face with water. My one tube has lasted me a year now so I'll definitely be repurchasing soon. The only thing that will give you the perfect long and voluminous eyelashes is eyelash extensions, but if you can't afford them, this is the next best thing to them, in my opinion.

Fragrances -Viktor & Rolf - Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb
snazzalicious 10/17/2012 2:29:00 AM
It's interesting to see that this perfume doesn't have that many rave reviews! I fell in love with this perfume the first time I smelt it on a friend wearing it. I had been lusting after it for over a year but only managed to persuade myself into buying it as a Christmas gift for myself last year. I got the LE bottle which is metallic pink and came with a white and pink ribbon around the top. Absolutely gorgeous! And the box it comes in is absolutely gorgeous too, it feels and looks like what it costs ;D Unlike a lot of the reviews on here, I would say that Flowerbomb is a heavier scent that would work better in cooler weather, as opposed to summer. When I first spray it, it is very strong, and you immediately get the vanilla and floral notes. It's quite decadent, and again, not a scent I would wear on a hot summer's day. When the perfume has dried down after a bit of time, the patchouli and amber comes through, but in a very sweet way. I find that the staying power is excellent, it lasts at least 7 hours on me, and I only have the EDT version (I prefer it over the EDP). A perfume that reminds me quite a bit of Flowerbomb is the Jimmy Choo perfume. I quite like it, it's lighter so it would be perfect to wear in summer, but Flowerbomb is still the winner for me. Once I run out I will definitely be re-purchasing. I always feel so luxurious wearing it (must be the price-tag, huh!)

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Miracle
snazzalicious 8/29/2011 9:17:00 AM
Really lovely foundation, the packaging that it comes in is fantastic, the pump actually dispenses the right amount of foundation required and because the pump is see-through, you can see exactly how much is coming out. The colours of the foundation are suited for cool toned skin, unfortunately I am warm toned, so the colour isn't a perfect match, but I still think it looks nice on. Really lovely scent, does not clog up pores nor does it emphasise them. Does not transfer onto other things easily and I find that it last a good 6-8 hours. Does not slide off my T-zone but still requires the mandatory blot as I still do get oily, especially on a warm day. Light to medium coverage, is easily buildable. Would definitely re-purchase and would recommned to others to try as I think it really is a wonderful foundation.

Conditioner -LUSH - American Cream
snazzalicious 8/29/2011 8:42:00 AM
Worst conditioner I've ever used, it actually makes my hair drier. I have wavy/curly blonde dyed hair that is fine and requires a lot of TLC and this provided none of what it needed. The smell is not bad but I am not a fan of Lush's shampoo's and conditioner's, everything else of theirs is great though.

Highlighters -NARS - Highlighting Blush Powder in Albatross
snazzalicious 7/3/2011 3:14:00 PM
This is a product I use almost every day -- it gives my skin a lovely golden, dewy glow that really brightens up my face. Very finely milled, easy to put on with my MAC 187 brush. I usually put it on the top of my cheekbones over my NARS Orgasm blush, they compliment each other really well. NARS' unfortunate packaging means that the outside quickly becomes "dirty", otherwise the packaging itself is sturdy and simple. The price is ridiculous in New Zealand so I bought mine for half the price over eBay. My favourite highlighter, look forward to using it every time! Can definitely recommend.

Self Tanners -Sally Hansen - Airbrush Legs Deep Glow
snazzalicious 12/30/2010 6:55:00 PM
It's normally far too expensive at NZD$29.99 but I caved and bought this product because it happened to have a 20% discount on it. I was worried that the colour Deep Glow would be far too dark for my pasty white winter skin but it really wasn't! I frickin' LOVE this stuff! Gives me an absolutely gorgeous, real-looking tan. It dries super duper quick, which can be a positive and a negative, but I make sure that I spray it into my hands and rub it into whatever part of my body I'm tanning, really fast. I usually use a couple of layers to achieve a darker look. The sparkles that it leaves on my skin are okay, I quite like them but sometimes they can be a bit much. However, that's only if you're really looking quite closely at your skin in the light. I wish this product was one that stayed on for days! At the ridiculous price they charge for it here, I will only be re-purchasing for special occasions when I need to be looking healthy and tan :(

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Soft Coeur Massage Bar (The Honeymooner)
snazzalicious 12/30/2010 6:46:00 PM
I fell in love with this gorgeous massage bar a few years ago and have bought it a few more times over the years. The smell is just so absolutely delicious, it's such a shame that Lush doesn't make this in a liquid form to be used as a moisturiser! My only qualm is the price because at NZD$14.50 it means I can't re-purchase as often as I would like. Really amazing to have a massage done with this bar or just use it as a body moisturiser. Yum yum yum!

Bronzers -NARS - Orgasm-Laguna Blush-Bronzer Duo
snazzalicious 11/15/2010 9:24:00 PM
I was reading up reviews on bronzers because I have been wanting one which gave me a bit of colour without leaving me with an orange face, and I happen to stumble across this product review. I was highly intrigued by the duo and went into the only store in town that stocks NARS products. The counter lady put on both Laguna and Orgasm on me and I was immediately smitten! Laguna gave me that well needed colour to my face as I am suffering from the dreaded winter white skin, and Orgasm just made me look fresh and I loved the flush it put on my cheeks. Unfortunately they did not sell the duo at the store, and buying Laguna and Orgasm separately was going to cost me around NZD$160. I knew immediately that eBay was my only solution and after finally finding a seller that would ship to New Zealand, I eagerly anticipated this little duo's arrival. I wore it to work today, and even though I did not put on the blush as well as the NARS counter lady, the colour has done so much for my face. So happy with this NARS product, I would highly recommended to anyone thinking about buying it!

Self Tanners -SugarBaby - SugarBaby Tan In A Can
snazzalicious 11/10/2010 2:02:00 AM
I'm not a self-tanner pro in the least so I'm always a bit wary of trying new self-tanners in case I muck up. However, this was just so easy to apply, even for a complete beginner such as myself! I found the colour to be quite a natural sun-kissed one and whilst the smell is quite strong at first (it's quite sweet but I like it), it does fade after a day. Unfortunately, the colour itself does only really last 3 days max, so you have to keep topping up if you want to keep the colour going. I have been re-applying it every few days on my arms and legs just to keep myself looking from pasty white and it's great to see that when the colour fades, it fades evenly without the funky orange colour at the end of the fade you get with some tanners. I love the packaging and the actual brand, I think it's really cute and I had no trouble with the nozzle, just had to make sure to always shake the can every few seconds just so it kept spraying evenly. Make sure that you spray yourself away from anything that stains or those nice white tiles because it does travel and stick to pristine, white surfaces. It also dries quite quickly which is always a bonus seeing as I don't always have 10 minutes to be running around bare! The price isn't too bad (NZD$28) but would prefer another self-tanner that gives me a deeper colour, so I will have to keep searching!

Shampoo -Shiseido - Tsubaki Shampoo
snazzalicious 9/26/2010 4:03:00 AM
I found out about this product through a Japanese magazine article in which a famous Japanese idol used it. My interest was piqued but once I started hunting around for it I realised just how expensive it would be attaining it in New Zealand (NZ$35). The smell is amazing, I really enjoy washing my hair with this shampoo and I have noticed that over time my hair has progressively become softer and less frizzy! I have dyed blonde hair which is naturally curly/wavy so it tends to be more on the coarse and frizzy side. It's no miracle product but it makes for a nice shampoo. My only qualm with it is how expensive it is for an above average product.
