Fragrances -Avon - In Bloom by Reese Witherspoon
smoochapooch 10/13/2009 12:40:00 PM
When I saw the advertising and the gorgeous bottle, I was getting pretty excited, and then add Reese Witherspoon.....I'm thinking this is going to be REALLY good stuff! Lo and behold, the same miserable stink juice that Avon produces, time and time again. I would LOVE to figure out that one common denominator that Avon uses in almost all of its scents, and I would like to take that repulsive ingredient and dump it off the edge of the earth.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder
smoochapooch 5/14/2009 9:34:00 AM
For the ladies that are having a hard time with the packaging...this is what I do. Get a little bit of the product on your powder brush (not the one that comes with the powder though), and then swirl it around in the dome lid. Usually I do this several times to get the desired coverage. It distributes the product evenly on the brush and this allows for more even coverage on the skin. When I use this powder in creamy natural, I get a very buildable and smooth coverage. I think it would be too much to use a foundation underneath, so I just use a tinted moisturizer with SPF. Even when I use my other, more expensive mineral powders, I swirl my brush around in the P.F. lid! Love the lid!

Bronzers -Bonne Bell - Blend n Glow in Natural Blush
smoochapooch 1/2/2009 9:39:00 PM
I think this would be best for fair skin, and I can see why it would not work well on darker skin. It is not a bronzer, it is more of a "glower". I use it sparingly all over my face after I have applied my blush and it gives me a glowy, airbrushed look. If you used to much, you risk looking too shimmery or shiny. Can be used a million ways.....blush, eyeshadow, highlighter. A really fun, inexpensive and underrated product.

Fragrances -Avon - Petal by Cynthia Rowley
smoochapooch 4/19/2008 5:56:00 PM
Waaaaay different than Flower.....Petal is very fresh and green. Good mood-inducing! At first smell I definately get the Lilly of the Valley. And the dry down is very soft and green. I don't think of this as a scent for a child. The bottle is completely adorable! I am hoping that they come out with the shower gel and lotion for this one, but I doubt it because it is marketed as a daughter scent. As you will see in my reviews, I did not care for the mother scent, "Flower" at all. These 2 scents are completely different and I can't even imagine how they would compliment each other. I think Petal smells like real flowers and not alcoholy and fake.

Fragrances -mark - Instant Vacation Caribbean
smoochapooch 4/1/2008 7:25:00 PM
I love the original Instant Vacation fragrance and this is nothing like that, but is still very nice in a different way. To me the original I.V. is way more complex and heavy. Carribean is lighter and fruitier. It is creamy & fruity at the same time. Very sweet, but does not irritate me the way some sweet smells do. I love to try new scents, so this will be a fun one to wear for a while, but I will probably not repurchase. Staying power is not very good.

Fragrances -Avon - Flower by Cynthia Rowley EDP
smoochapooch 4/1/2008 7:18:00 PM
This is just a weird fragrance, and to me, not in a good way. The presentation is so misleading......The bright flowers on the tag and the frilly bottle.....NO. I can't even find the words. It kind of smells like burning plastic to me. It really is a depressing fragrance now that I think about it!! That description from the other reviewer really summed it up and I think she was rather creative. It is definately more of a DARK scent. I just sprayed it on again and I don't hate it, but I don't like it. A "hideous, yet I cannot look away" scent? I think so. I may spritz this on if I am having a suicidal day. IT"S JUST WEIRD!

Fragrances -Avon - Christian Lacroix - Rouge
smoochapooch 10/26/2007 7:07:00 PM
Well.....the bottle is gorgeous. I collect red perfume bottles for my bathroom so it wasn't a total loss, the smell however, is the usual Avon bug spray/Lysol garbage. I really thought this one would be different, but it is the same crapola. The bottle really is stunning though.

I love the original Instant Vacation. I think this one has more gardenia. I liked this at first and ended up not liking this one for me. The dry-down was very boring and generic.

Cleansers -Avon - Clearskin Blackhead Clearing Cleanser
smoochapooch 2/6/2007 9:52:00 PM
I love this cleanser, but a flip top would be much more convenient than the screw-off type. I like this stuff because it has a small amount of little scrubby things in it. Just enough to make my skin feel really clean, but not too dry. I actually use this every morning and every evening, but in the evening I probably scrub a little longer to get the makeup residue off. I also use the PoreFection line (also Avon), but my skin seems to get tired or "used to" that after awhile, so I switch over to this. I have very combination skin (oily w/ dry patches), and this cleanser seems to work great if I use a good moisturizer after. (at night I use Alpha Hydrox Res-Q, with Avon Clinical serum on top - Morning, after cleansing I use Avon Skintrition Healthy Boost Moisturizer & then apply my makeup). So far, so good, but ya never know. Sometimes I think I have found the perfect combo, and then I wake up looking like a mess...... we'll see!!UPDATE: Yeah, that little concoction didn't last long. Too drying. I only use this cleanser once or twice a month now during break-out time. Still a good cleanser, but much better for my 11 and 14 year olds.

Very, very, very sweet. I could not even tolerate the test spray. I could not get past the sweet to pick out notes. Horrifying.

Fragrances -Marilyn Miglin - Destiny
smoochapooch 1/25/2007 9:07:00 PM
MMMMMMMMM......Destiny smells so different than any other fragrance. It's almost buttery. I don't wear this all the time, but it's my favorite scent to put on after a bath and before I go to bed or when I'm just in a warm, fuzzy mood! There is something soothing about this fragrance. I once heard Marilyn describe Destiny as a "nuzzly" scent, perfect description Marilyn! Someone would have to be really close to you to smell it and even then, it is just a very light scent. It makes my whole bathroom smell wonderful! I bought the pillow spray in the Destiny also, and I spray it on the bathroom curtains and the towels on the towel rack too! If you are looking for a unique fragrance, this would be a good one! IMO this is Marilyn's best fragrance and smells less medicinal and much lighter than Pheremone. HSN sells fabulous gift sets of Destiny for next to nothing too! Almost forgot.....I recently bought the Destiny hairspray....HEAVEN!! A very light hold scented with a touch of Destiny. I would definately recommend getting all of those little Destiny extras if you like this!

Fragrances -mark - Sassy Mark
smoochapooch 12/25/2006 9:09:00 PM
This smells sooo good, and the dry-down is even better. I am not good at recognizing the "notes" of a fragrance, but I would classify this one as citrusy and fresh. IMO, this is mark's best fragrance yet. I also purchased the dry oil mist which is really nice. It is a lighter version of the fragrance, but if you put this on first, it will really give the cologne more staying power and I love to spray it on after a bath. I believe this one is in a different league than the last few mark scents. The name Sassy is kind of ridiculous, but the bottle is adorable. I would have to say that this stuff even smells classy! I hope they keep this one around for a long time. UPDATE: This does not smell like a GRANDMA at all!!!! It's all opinion anyway.

These make fantastic liners! Also, if you want to give your liner more staying power apply these over your liner in the closest matching color. These are very pigmented, beautiful shades. I love the mark line!

Lipstick -Avon - Avon Brilliant Moisture Lip Color
smoochapooch 12/21/2006 8:25:00 AM
I have this in Moonstone. It's gorgeous! Not too pink, not too red and a hint of a holographic glow....just like a moonstone! The texture is very light and I don't even know I'm wearing it. I also don't really detect any smell or flavor. But, of course, I think they have discontinued this, so I will get more on ebay and then continue my quest for another "perfect" lipstick color!
