Mascara -Maybelline - Illegal Length Fiber Extensions
rated 1 of 5
smohamed04 3/9/2012 6:25:00 PM

Worst mascara ever. Period. I'm a huge mascara junkie and I bought this mascara after seeing the commercial with the 4mm length promise. I think it may actually meet the 4mm length promise, but it is not a good quality formula. The formula is clumpy and although it requires many layers to achieve the 4mm, it makes your eyelashes look like spider legs. I read the reviews before buying it and although most of the reviews were negative, I bought it anyway thinking that the reviewers probably don't know the technique for applying fibertube mascara. Additionally, the formula smells so badly that they perfumed the mascara, which makes me wonder how long it will take before: (1) it makes my eyelashes fall out or; (2) it expires. Beware of mascaras that are perfumed. I would never buy this mascara again and in fact, I'm going to mail a complain to Maybelline. This is the worst mascara I have ever used in my life. If you want a fibertube mascara of decent quality at a cheap price - purchase Maybelline's Falsies. It is a ton better than this crap.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Girl Meets Pearl
rated 2 of 5
smohamed04 3/6/2012 8:29:00 AM

I received this product in a Benefits Value pack, that I really bought just for the blush. I actually did not know that it was a highlighter. It says nothing on the packaging and I had to google it to find out that it's a highlighter. When I originally received it, I thought it was a sample primer, because it comes in this tiny tube. It would be nice if the packaging: (1) had some useful information written on it and; (2) didn't make the product look cheap and useless. I almost threw it out. Anyway, I cannot review the quality of the product itself. So, that is my review on the packaging.

Misc Beauty Tools -Olay - Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System
rated 2 of 5
smohamed04 1/27/2012 11:19:00 PM

Comparative Review between the Olay Pro X and the Spa Resource Facial Kit. *Please note that I am using Cliniques' Liquid Facial Soap.* Pros for Olay Pro X -The brush is much gentler than the Spa Resource Brush -Has 2 speed settings -Water resistant -Very small, doesn't take up much room, easy to travel with Cons for Olay Pro X -brush is very small, however, this is a small complaint - this means it just takes longer to wash your face -The brush gets dirty very easily and is difficult to clean - I just used it to take off my make-up - hot water would not get the make-up off the brush so I tried baby oil, that also didn't work. So, I then used soap and very hot water. My brush is not completely white anymore. -After I used it and washed my face, I wiped it on my towel and all of the make-up went on my towel. With the Spa Resources, it takes all of the make-up off and it goes into the brush. With this, it leaves your make-up on the surface of your skin - even after you rinse with water. -Costs way more than Spa Resources Pro for Spa Resource Facial Kit -$8 at walmart -Can be returned after purchase and use -Takes off ALL of your make-up -Brush is easy to clean (just use hot water) because the brush is made of plastic -Comes with two other pieces Cons for Spa Resource Facial Kit -Brush is made out of plastic, so it can tear the skin - it is very rough and should be used lightly -Two other pieces are pretty worthless - one "massages" but seriously - who does that? The other one buffs and again - really? who would use that? -Breaks easily - is not even water resistant - be careful when you make contact with water - take the brush head off before you run any water and don't let water get on the brush head or it may give you problems Overall: -Both products are not water-proof and must be used carefully when around water. Tip: take the batteries out with each use, so to ensure water does not get inside. -Olay is better for everyday use - the soft brush makes a huge difference -For some reason, batteries last longer in the Olay -Olay will not take off your make-up, but Spa Resources will Overall, Olay seems like a better purchase. However, I had to find a new way to take off my make-up before using it - which is really annonying. I now use an exfoliating scrub (from st. Ive - it's so cheap and good) to remove face make-up (eye make-up remover and cotton for eye make-up) then use my clinique liquid soap on the Olay Pro X to clean my face.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm
rated 5 of 5
smohamed04 12/8/2011 1:44:00 AM

Revised Review: I'm in love. I first bought this product in "peppermint" which is the clear colour. No, the product does not moisturize for 8 hours, nor does it makes your lips softer in 4 weeks. However, I'm still addicted. Peppermint I purchased for $3.83 (CAN) at Walmart. Today I picked up "Pink Punch," "Peach Kiss" and, "Cherry Me." I'm medium skin tone and I like the "Pink Punch" the best. The pink is very sheer and just lightly colours your lips, perfect for a natural lip - which is good for me because I do big eyes all the time - so natural lip is needed! The "Cherry me" is not bad, I really like it. It does not come on red, which was a bit of a let down. The peach kiss does not even show on my lips. Looks just like the clear "Peppermint." I bought all three colours today at Loblaws for $4.99 (CAN) each. I know it's more expensive, but I have not seen the colour options anywhere! Overall, I recommend it for the sheer fact that it has SPF 20 in it - that you need all the time! My lips are dark and it's from the sun. So please use SPF on your lips so they don't get dark like mine! ----- Old Review: I was in Sephora today, looking for a lip treatment because my lips are peeling. I've been using glycolic acid on them, trying to get rid of darkness, but that's a whole other story. Long story short, I looked at two products there that are lip treatment, both without SPF for over $40 CAN. Then I went to walmart and saw this product for $2.83 CAN, no tint and SPF 20. I love it. It smells like peppermint, moisturizes (not for 8 hours through, that's a huge lie) and has SPF, which is what I need. Overall, it is incredible for the price, comparable with the $40 lip treatments.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Sparesource's Facial Kit
rated 4 of 5
smohamed04 12/8/2011 1:06:00 AM

New revision: This thing breaks easily. It is not water-resistant like the Olay one and as soon as water gets in it, it's slowly starts to not work. I find myself hitting it to work. I switched to the Olay Pro and I'm not too fond of it either. The Olay Pro has a smaller, softer brush. Feels great on your skin, however, the brush stains easily and does not remove all of your make-up the way the Spa Resources brush does. I recommend the spa resources over the Olay Pro because it removes your make-up entirely and gives you a better clean. However, the brush bristols are plaster on the Spa Resources, so don't do it for too long or too hard. Use it lightly to remove your make-up. If you get the Olay Pro, you can use it for a gentler clean. ----- Old post: This is Walmart's version of the clarisonic. Yes, there is a version that is also not Olay's $30 version of the clarisonic, and that best part is, it's $8 (CAN). I couldn't believe it. It comes with a brush head, a massage head and a sponge head. I use the brush head to cleanse and it takes off all of my makeup. The sponge head, I use to apply moisturizer and sometimes I use the massage head with moisturizer. The massage that it gives is soothing. I think I might use it with tea tree oil next, to give myself a relaxing, before-bed-face-massage. It takes 3 AA batteries but it works great. Use it with my cleanser and I get a really thorough clean. I highly recommend it. And if you hate it, return it to walmart and get your $8 back! Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - tweezers
rated 4 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:49:00 PM

I hate to be the one that's not very enthused about this product, but I'm not. They're excellent as tweezers, don't get me wrong. However, I see little to no difference between these and the much cheaper Revlon tweezers. My sister has had her tweezermans for over 10 years now and swears by them. But I mean, Revlon tweezers have the same angle, same metal and are upwards of $10 less in cost. I don't get the hype. You're going to lose your tweezers eventually, why not buy the cheaper ones and save your money.

Lips -Vaseline - Vaseline
rated 3 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:44:00 PM

I use vaseline on my face during the winter. When the weather is extremely cold (as it gets in Canada) I get redness on my face that doesn't seem to go away. I started using Vaseline on the redness at nighttime and it's the only thing that works for me to get rid of it! Try it, it works!!!

Powders -Johnson & Johnson - Baby Powder
rated 5 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:42:00 PM

Best usages for this product: -Dry shampoo, as already mentioned. When your hair is getting greasy and you don't want to wash it, put some on, try to get it in at the scalp. The whiteness will go away after some time, if not, take your blowdryer to get rid of the excess -deodorant - this is if you don't sweat too much, it's very light -RUBBING (Best tip EVER alert!!!) - in the summer when you're wearing a dress/skirt and your thighs start rubbing together. To avoid the pain and swelling that rubbing causes, use baby powder!! It's a miracle worker for those of us with larger thighs, or as I like to call them, "thunder thighs" (FYI large thighs are sexy)

Toners -Clinique - Clarifying Lotion #3
rated 5 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:35:00 PM

This toner is the only reason why I continue to purchase the 3-step system. It's fantastic. It takes off my make-up and gets rid of all dirt. You must use a moisturizer with this. It's a toner that's alcohol-based, of course it'll dry your skin. I've never noticed the smell before. Some people have mentioned that it smells awful, but seriously, what were you expecting? It's an alcohol-based toner. Is it suppose to smell like roses? Some days when I get home late, I'll just use baby wipes and this toner before bed, because I'm just too tired to do anything else and it does the job. I don't get make-up related break-outs, like I use to when going to sleep late and quickly removing make-up. This toner is excellent. One of the best toners I've ever used. To provide context: I switched to this from neutrogena's toner. I have significantly less breakouts then I did using neutrogena. This won't transform your skin, but it'll maintain a good level of normalcy, which I have never had with other products. I'm quite use to neutrogena then massive acne, then proactiv, then back to neutrogena. With the 3-step system, I haven't used proactiv in over a year. (This is huge for me!)

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap - Oily skin
rated 4 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:29:00 PM

I don't have any of the aforementioned problems with this cleanser. I love it. I've been using the 3-step system for about a year now and I love it. The cleanser itself smells incredible. I love it. At nighttime it really helps me to relax and makes me sleepy. In the morning, it helps to clean up my stuffy morning nose. It doesn't do anything crazy-amazing. It cleanses very lightly. The toner does most of the work. I would recommend the clinique toner with this, as it's great at toning and taking off your face make-up. Without a good toner, this cleanser is a worthless purchase. I only have it because it's part of the 3-step system. If I switch to another system, I would never buy this separately. Like I said, it's not crazy-amazing. I've used cheap neutrogena cleansers that are better than this, in that they take off make-up.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
rated 5 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:25:00 PM

I use this as part of the 3-step system and I love it. It's not greasy or shiny and it absorbs very quickly. Love it and would never use anything else. Only flaw is that it doesn't have SPF, so you have to wear one over it. Also, it may not be excellent for dry skin types. If your skin is dry, you can use this with something on top at nighttime.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rated 4 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:23:00 PM

I've always received this as part of my free gift when making Lancome purchases and it's really good. It does exactly what it's suppose to do. However, I don't see the difference between this and baby oil or any oil for that matter; olive oil, coconut oil, etc. It's pricey and doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. I wouldn't necessarily buy this product again, but I would love to receive it as a free gift with another purchase. Otherwise, I wouldn't spend any money on this. I'd rather use cheap, reliable baby oil.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Juicy Tubes Jelly in Bolole
rated 2 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:20:00 PM

Juicy tubes make my lips peel. I use to love them but now I hate them since I started buying gloss from bath and body works. They have a mint gloss that makes your breath smell great and doesn't peel your lips.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
rated 4 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:18:00 PM

I bought this product yesterday and I used it for the first time today on my face and eyelids. My eyeshadow lasted all day, which it usually doesn't without a good primer. I also applied it lightly to my face, using my fingers and gently patted it on. It did a fairly decent job of keeping my powder and blush, although it was not crazy-amazing. I've had better. My brush is not as prominent as it was when I first applied it, so there was fading. However, let's keep in mind that I applied very little. I'm really concerned about the other reviews stating people had breakouts. I have to wonder if their fingers were absolutely clean each time they used it. It's in a jar, so even a small amount of bacteria could multiple quickly and cause breakouts. Overall, it's not bad, although it was expensive. $20 CAN. It smells good and feels like soft powder once it was applied. I encourage anti-bacterial washing of your finger before applying or using a wax stick. I may purchase this product again or I may find a different primer that does the same thing or more for a better price. $20 is too much for a primer.

Primer/ Corrector -Cover Girl - Simply Ageless Serum Primer
rated 1 of 5
smohamed04 12/4/2011 9:10:00 PM

So, full disclosure: I didn't buy this product. I smelt it at Shoppers Drug Mart and then had a sneezing attack. It smells so bad, that I couldn't buy it. Primer should not smell like that and when it does it should be avoided at all costs.
