Mascara -Ulta - Showstopper Lashes Length + Volume Mascara
smlrck26 2/17/2011 7:28:00 PM
For $10 and from Ulta, I expected a much better mascara. I used this for the first time this morning. The formula reminded me of Maybelline's Great Lash (not a fan of that btw) and the brush didn't do a whole lot in terms of volume for me but I did however get some definition/length. Super black color which was great but the kicker was that I looked like Alice Cooper by lunchtime (For those of you that don't know who Alice Cooper is..I had severe raccoon eyes.) Yikes. I don't understand how a mascara can completely just wear off in 4 hours so I'll return this and not purchase it again.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Frutique-Papaya Enzyme exfoliating gel
smlrck26 2/5/2011 2:08:00 PM
This stuff is amazing! I'm going to throw out anything else that claims to remove dead skin cells because of this product. The first time I used this, I couldn't believe all of the dead skin that came off my face! This wasn't simply a chemical reaction like this overpriced crap I bought from a kiosk in the mall in my less wiser days but actual skin because there were clumps that were still stuck to my face that I had to remove with a wash cloth and the color was what you'd imagine it would be (kinda like boogers almost). Sorry for being gross - but I don't know how else to describe it! :) You apply to CLEAN dry skin. It leaves my skin so soft, I look less congested and brighter as I continue to use this, I also noticed that I have less blackheads and my red marks from old acne are disappearing as well. It's made of papaya enzymes and has extracts of sugar maple, orange peel, lemon peel and both glycolic and salicylic acid in it so I don't see a need to keep all of my peels and scrubs anymore. It's generously sized at 6.8 ounces and at an awesome price of about $12 at Sally's (I'm not sure where else you can find it). A definite keeper, I'm going to go stock up soon!

Polishes -Chanel - Orange Fizz
smlrck26 2/1/2011 10:05:00 AM
During my recent Chanel binge.. I purchased this color. In the bottle it's a real nice peachy-orange. It's a cream so it doesn't have any shimmer but it does leave a shiny finish. On my nails this looks like a bright construction orange, so I must be a cool coloring but I always was told I'm a neutral (I've been told all three actually!!). I'll probably wear it during the summer on my toes but I won't purchase it again. For a similar color, I recommend Rimmel's Sunset Orange. It is a bit pinker and a tad brighter but it's a close match that's more affordable.

Polishes -Chanel - Black Pearl
smlrck26 2/1/2011 9:30:00 AM
I recently got off a Chanel binge and this is one of the colors that I acquired. It's a real unique shade of gunmetal gray/black with undertones of teal, green and blue. The finish is almost like a shimmery metallic and the brush strokes were visible while applying it but the effect was so beautiful, I almost felt like crying! I'm not sure if I will purchase it again because I get bored with stuff often but I did rate a "Yes" so it doesn't end up with a low rating. I applied this Saturday night (on clean nails free of lotions, etc.) and by Monday I had some slight chipping on my forefingers, middle and thumbs but that's because I type a lot at work and I realized the other night that I don't really have a good quality base or top coat yet.. I've started experimenting with different brands though! This is a real unique color and I don't think there is a dupe out there yet for it. I frequent the drugstores and wherever else in search of all things polish so I will update my review if I find one!

Polishes -Chanel - Particulière
smlrck26 1/28/2011 5:37:00 PM
With as much money as I've spent on trying to find a dupe for this... I might as well have bought the real thing. Well this past week I finally broke down and did! I'm very happy with it so far. It goes on really smooth and it dries to a shiny finish. The color is like none other; none of my "dupes" come close when I thought they did. I have fair skin with neutral undertones and it doesn't clash with this color. I say.. just go and buy it! I purchased it straight from the Chanel website.

Cleansers -Kinerase - Gentle Daily Cleanser
smlrck26 1/22/2011 9:30:00 PM
I like the cream and around Xmas time I bought a kit off sephora that contained this cleanser. The ingredients are nothing special and the pearlized color reminded me of hand soap. I used it for about a week until it started to irritate my combo skin. I broke out all over in places that I never break out in. Since I couldn't return it because it was in a kit, I used it as handsoap. My hands have never felt so dry! My skin hates this stuff, but who knows.. yours might love it. Just thought is give my two cents for what its worth!

Fragrances -Calvin Klein - Euphoria Blossom

IMO, this smells exactly like Chanel Chance Eau Tendre. I'm really not sure what else I can review on for a perfume since they work different for everyone. I like scents like these though and they suite my chemistry.

Mascara -Tarte - MultiplEYE Mascara

This dried up in a month. Of course, I didn't pump the mascara, add anything to it, and I made sure to close it tightly. An absolute waste of money.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Cortex 1" Flat Iron (Tourmaline Ceramic Plate)
smlrck26 1/19/2011 9:45:00 PM
I found this iron along with a mini iron in a set at TJ Maxx for about $40 and they are about that much on Amazon. I wasn't expecting much since I have never heard of the name Cortex before but I figured I'd try it out anyway. Turns out that it's the best flat iron I've used so far which have been just your run of the mill flat irons from Sallys and a few dud drugstore models. This iron does snag my hair a little but I only have to run it through my hair once which is a miracle because my hair is so friggin thick. The outside of the iron does get a little hot but it's nothing unbearable. The cord is nice and long, which is a plus. My model has adjustable heat up to 410 degrees and it heats up fast too. I really like it and plan on using it until it malfunctions.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Silent Treatment
smlrck26 1/15/2011 6:08:00 PM
I walked past the display in the grocery store and the taupe shadow really stood out. The other palletes in the collection featured brighter shades..not my style!. These are absolutely amazing colors that have great color payoff (Note: I use primer) and all at a dirt cheap price. Whether you're a snob or a beauty bargain hunter, you'd be a fool not to purchase this or any other as I'm assuming the quality is the same. These shadows perform better than my high end ones. I feel like such a fool for spending so much money on makeup. I'm going to buy a few more of these so I have a stock.

Shampoo -Carol's Daughter - Tui Herbal Shampoo
smlrck26 1/12/2011 8:07:00 PM
My hair is stick straight, extremely thick, coarse (the ends felt and looked pointy, like a broomstick). Pre-Carol's Daughter, if I air dried my hair, I could literally end up with a V shaped afro if I hung it upside down then back up again. :) I only did that to show people how crazy my hair was though. Anyway, the Tui line along with the Mimosa honey are the only products out of hundreds I have tried that have ever worked for my hair. It's straight and SOFT now. The ends actually curl on their own, even if I air dry! The smell is awesome, reminds me of C. Booths Tahitian Monoi souffle (which is also great, btw). I recommend this and the Mimosa honey for anyone with hair issues similar to the ones I used to have.

Lips -Tarte - LipSurgence natural lip tint in Lust
smlrck26 1/12/2011 8:00:00 PM
This is more like a really lightweight gloss because it will come off on my coffee mug. It doesn't stain my lips at all, just coats them. The initial reason why I purchased this was because I thought it was a stain...it is not a stain! Another important note: This is a pink based red - NOT a true red like the tube. I wish I would of swatched this in Ulta or Sephora before shelling out $24 on it. :(

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Sin
smlrck26 1/12/2011 7:45:00 PM
I recently finished up a small tube of this from a set of four of their primers. I loved this one the most. I can use it alone for a great neutral look that is good for work. An added plus is that this doesn't look horrible under that terrible office lighting. For me this does make shadow last longer but it does show through if I use a sheer and/or light color (common sense). I got the XL sized tube from Sephora.com and the wider stance makes easier to handle...plus it's a better value anyway if you plan to use it often like me. I will keep buying it as long as it exists. For me, it makes my beauty routine shorter, it lasts all day, and the color flatters my pink toned fair skin. The only downside is the packaging but like I said the XL tube is way easier to work with.

Eye Makeup Remover -Ulta - Formativ Oil-free Eye Makeup Remover
smlrck26 12/4/2010 11:16:00 PM
I love Ulta and everything...but this eye makeup remover was the worst I have ever tried. It felt like I was washing my eye area with acid. I got a little inside my eyes (which is typical for me) and it burned EXTERMELY bad. Not to mention that my whole eye area was red and irritated (especially the sides). I didn't even rub it or anything..just a gentle swipe is all I used. I've never had that happen before with any other eye makeup remover. Really bad stuff.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Plum
smlrck26 10/23/2010 1:37:00 PM
I received this as a gift from Sephora. I have never had a good experience with "high end" mascaras (I got my first and only two styes from Diorshow eyelash serum). This is no exception. At lunchtime, I had the worst raccoon eyes ever plus I looked sick or something since it was a plum color. I would never purchase this full price because there are far better mascaras out there that cost a fraction of the price of this mediocre crap.
