Shampoo -Giovanni - Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo

I use this shampoo because it cleanses with coco betaine, not sulfates, but it removes more buildup than cleansing with conditioner. My hair is wavy but fine. I wear it wavy and this shampoo does a better job of keeping it from frizzing without weighing it down than other shampoos. If I use a regular shampoo, my hair looks so big and pouffy! This one keeps me looking like a sane person!

Conditioner -Suave - Naturals Ocean Breeze

I follow the modified curly-girl method, and am sensitive to silicones (they give me bumps on my scalp). This conditioner detangles my hair and keeps it from getting frizzy without irritating my scalp, and lets me use a mild shampoo since it doesn't have silicones.

Concealers -Maybelline - Cover Stick

I purchased this for my under eye circles when I forgot to wear makeup to work one day. It looked terrible and pulled at my skin. Perhaps it's okay for pimples, but not for under eye circles.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara

This mascara flaked and ran under my eyes. (I don't apply mascara to the bottom lashes). I returned it to CVS-- colleagues pointed it out to me, it was that obvious.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5

This moisturizer allows me to use a stronger cleanser and exfoliant than I would otherwise without flaking. It does not have silicones, which cause me to break out. (Dimethicone is a frequent culprit -- I even have to avoid it in hair products.) I'm 27 so I can't comment too much on any anti-aging benefits, but my skin looks great. Previously I was using Retin-A to combat my occasional breakouts but my skin could not adapt to it. Perhaps as I get older, I'll consider a stronger retinol but I'm thrilled with this for now.

Toners -Paula's Choice - Clear Targeted Acne Relief Toner with 2% Salicylic Acid for all skin types
rated 5 of 5

I use this in conjunction with Paula's normalizing cleanser and her RESIST barrier repair moisturizer at night. It is excellent. I haven't had a blackhead or pimple in 2 months. In the morning I use Elta MD UV Clear Sunscreen. I switched to all of these products around the same time, so I can't identify one as the primary source of my improvement, so I'm reviewing all 4. I pour some product on a cotton pad, swipe around my face, neck, chest, and upper back/shoulders, and even on my arms where I have KP. I used to use a 15% SA product once a week or so, but did not have the same results as using this product daily. I'm planning to repurchase indefinitely!

Cleansers -Paula's Choice - Clear Normalizing Cleanser

I bought this product because I thought it might do a better job of preventing clogged pores and acne from my sunscreen than my previous Aveeno cleanser. It definitely performs. The only downside is that it can sting my eyes a bit, and I have to rub it around more to make sure it takes off my mascara. If I wear eyeliner, I use a makeup remover. I use this in conjunction with PC 2% salicylic acid and barrier repair moisturizer at night. In the morning, I apply Elta MD UV Clear in the morning (I do not wash my face in the morning). I have had a perfectly clear face for around 2 months now. At first my cheeks were a big dry, but now they seem to have adapted and my skin looks great. I will definitely repurchase -- just waiting for the right coupon code, but I would buy at full-price, and will also buy some samples for travel.

Sunscreen -EltaMD - UV Clear SPF 46

I bought this sunscreen because it had good reviews for people who tend to get clogged pores or acne from sunscreen. It has definitely performed for me. I haven't had a pimple or blackhead in around 2 months, and previously I had at least 2 per month, plus blackheads. I also changed my regimen. I use Paula's Choice normalizing cleanser, 2% salicylic acid liquid (extra-strength), and her barrier repair moisturizer. (No silicones). For reference, I'm 27 with fair skin that is somewhat sensitive, and prone to breakouts from products.

Lip Treatments -Aveeno - Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner with SPF 15
rated 5 of 5

This is my HG lip balm, and until a year ago, I lived in the land of -40 and wind. I can't find it where I live, but I stock up whenever I visit Canada. It is that good that I seriously will not waste my money on any of the other 100 lip balms that I could buy at my local CVS, and I have to buy this one in another country!

Eye Makeup Remover -Unlisted Brand - CVS Eye Make-up Remover (similar to Neutrogena)

This is a terrible product. This does not remove my makeup (and most days I only wear mascara and at most, nude eyeshadow to blend with my pale skin). I end up with smudges under my eyes and when I remove those, I still have makeup left the next morning. The only reason I'm still using it is that I'm cheap and I'm afraid of buying another equally bad product. I will have to keep searching for my favourite, Vichy, in the US.
