Moisturizers -Cerave - Facial Moisturizing Lotion - AM SPF 30
rated 5 of 5
sloro 4/20/2012 7:28:00 PM

I've been looking for a replacement for my old Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 45 since they reformulated a couple years ago. For reference, I am very oily, very clog prone and very acne prone. I have not had luck with any Cerave products in the past, however, I was desperate for a facial SPF since we were going to the beach. I grabbed this one since it had a fairly short, decent ingredient list and I am so glad I tried it! I have been using for about 4 weeks now and not one clogged pore or acne breakout. Of course everyone is different, but it certainly works for me. I would definitely say it's worth a try if you're looking. I will say the first few days it seemed to dry my skin out, but after that initial period, I have had no issues with daily use.

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion SPF 50
rated 4 of 5
sloro 5/5/2009 9:54:00 PM

First day wearing the new Olay SPF 50. My initial thoughts... Definitely has a fragrance, not bad but it's there. Has somewhat of a sunscreen texture, but sinks right in and spreads and blends very well and no balling or white streaks. Dries to a semi matte finish. Feels very light on, not heavy at all. Makeup goes on beautifully over it. I did not get the usual greasyness today, I'd call it more dewy but not greasy. (I'm usually oily). None of the usual Avo/Oxybenzone sunscreen sting at all upon application and I used it around my eyes as well. This may be expensive, because the bottles are small, same size as regular Regenerist Serum, and if you are applying the correct amount, then you would probably go through this quickly, however it is an antioxidant serum/peptide serum and sunscreen in one. PLEASE Olay SPF 50, love my skin, don't turn on me and clog my pores or break me out, I swear I will be faithful to you if you are good to me!!! ♥ Ciba calculates PPD around 12-13. I will update if and when we break up.... Active Ingredients: 15% homosalate 6% oxybenzone 5% octisalate 3% avobenzone 2.7% octocrylene water, glycerin, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Niacinamide, polyethylene, pentylene glycol, Dimethicone, Panthenol, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, carnosine (amino-peptide), ascorbic acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, isohexadecane, Allantoin, cetearyl glucoside, dimethiconol, peg-100 stearate, polysorbate 60, etc... It does not contain any polyacrylamide.

Sunscreen -Hawaiian Tropic - Hawaiian Tropic Oil-Free Faces SPF 30, Sheer Reflections Formula [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5

UPDATE: Breakouts within two days. Tried again 3 days later and had breakouts again. :o( I don't think my skin likes all of the extracts in this formula.... ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am really hoping this doesn't cause me any breakouts or clogs because this has a fabulous matte finish and it's a great makeup base! Best drugstore SS finish that I have found. I think oily skinned girls will love this. It has a faint sting upon application, a little more sting than the NHDDM SPF 45. I believe the PPD is a little lower on the reformulated version. The old one was around an 8, but this one only has 3 actives, and is closer to a 7 Ingredients as of 4/21/09: ACTIVES: Octocrylene 5.000 UVB Sunscreen Oxybenzone 3.000 UVA/UVB Sunscreen Avobenzone 1.000 UVA Sunscreen OTHER: Water Vehicle Dicaprylyl Ether Emollient/Solubilizer Hydrated Silica Feel Modifier Glycerin Skin Conditioner Agent C14-22 Alcohols New Light Feeling Emulsifier Acrylates/C12-22 Alkyl Methacrylate Copolymer Waterproofing Agent Phenoxyethanol Preservative Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Biological Additive Sodium Polyacrylate New Light Sheer Felling Rheology Modifier Dimethicone Sking Conditioning Agent C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside New Light Feeling Emulsifier Methylparaben Preservative Propylparaben Preservative Plumeria Acutifolia (Plumeria) Flower Extract, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract, Psidium Guajava (Guava) Fruit Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Passiflora Incarnata (Passionflower) Fruit Extract, Colocasia Antiquorum (Dasheen) Root Extract Biological Additives Disodium EDTA Chelating Agent Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Retinyl Palmitate, Silica Time-released Vitamins A,C,E

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - skincarecentral.biz

This review is for the Salicylic Acid Exfoliator 2%. This is by far the most effective daily BHA treatment I have ever used. It contains only two ingredients: Organic Grape Alcohol and Salicylic Acid 2% (Beta Hydroxy Acid). It can sting a little at times and it can be a bit drying if you over use it, BUT IT WORKS! I have used this religiously for over 9 months, and it is an absolute HG for me. You can use a cotton ball to apply all over or use a Q-tip if you just want to spot treat. I am a huge fan of skincarecentral.biz's products. the 5% BHA is phenomenal for spot treating too. I also love the 100% pure HA Serum, the 10% Lactic Acid Exfoliator and the Triple Action Vitamin C and Red Tea serums. Great customer service too! No, I am not affiliated in any way, just a huge fan of the products! =D

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 5 of 5
sloro 3/6/2009 10:29:00 AM

Definitely one of my absolute favorite mascaras. It builds volume, adds length and holds the curl pretty well. Little to no flaking, no raccoon eyes, no smuding or smearing and very easy to wash off! It's fairly cheap, easy to find and a must have! I ♥ it!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - The Original Skin Store--Acne Stop
rated 1 of 5
sloro 2/26/2009 7:49:00 AM

I don't know how anyone could use this more than once a week. This is a very potent mixture of 10% BHA & 5% Lactic Acid and Alcohol. Girls, this is a PEEL, that's why your skin sheds like a snake after using this. Seriously, this product is so strong it literally makes me cry when I apply it. It smells like pure alcohol. I think it would be much better used as a SPOT treatment. This is not a miracle cure for acne like some of the reviews below state. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend using this any more than once every two weeks, and be prepared, because your face will feel like it's burning off and you WILL PEEL for the next 3-4 days afterwards, even if you moisturize. I don't think I would repurchase, and I can't imagine ever using the rest of the bottle I have. This is definitely not for sensitive skin. Warning taken from: http://janssenbeauty.com/us/skincare.html#11. Unlike AHAs, salicylic acid is toxic at high concentration and more caustic, so most salicylic acid products for home use contain concentrations below 7%. Too much salicylic acid applied to the skin can cause salicylism, which is characterized by headache, dizziness, and ringing in the ears.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
sloro 2/11/2009 11:13:00 AM

HALLELUJAH!!! Finally, a moisturizer that doesn't break me out or clog my pores!!! I am extremely acne and clog prone. Just to give you a small sample of moisturizers I have tried: DML, Eucerin, Amlactin, LacHydrin, Aqua Glycolic, Solvere, MD Forte Hydrating Gel, J&J, several from Olay, Neutrogena, LRP, and Avene, Lubriderm, Replenix Serum, Derma E, Cetaphil, CeraVe, Boots... well, you get the idea. There have been several others as well. I have been looking for a basic moisturizer to use in the winter under my Tazorac, or for times when my skin is feeling dry any flakey. This is PERFECT! It does contain 0.5% Salicylic Acid at a 3.7 pH, but honestly, that's not enough to do anything for your pores. I am able to mix this with my alcohol based BHA or I have also mixed it with my antioxidant serum and Hyaluronic Acid serum. I love that it is easy to adjust to my needs depending on the day and how my skin feels. I used this moisturizer several years ago when I was using MMU, when I stopped the MMU, I stopped using this as well, I had completely forgotten about this moisturizer. I'm thrilled I have rediscovered this, and now it's truly a staple in my skincare supply. I LOVE it!!! ♥ Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid (0.5%) (Acne medication) Inactive Ingredients: Arachidyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Glucoside, Behenyl Alcohol, BHT, Bis Phenylpropyl Dimethicone, C12 15 Alkyl Benzoate, C13 14 Isoparaffin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Ethylene Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Fragrance, Glycerin, Glycine Soja Seed Extract (Soybean), Isoceteth 20, Laureth 7, Methyl Gluceth 20, Polyacrylamide, PPG 10 Cetyl Ether, Water

Concealers -Revlon - ColorStay Under Eye Concealer
rated 3 of 5
sloro 1/30/2009 1:02:00 PM

EDIT 3/4/09: Oh no! This is still a great concealer, BUT it has caused milia for me under my eyes, deducting 2 lippies because of this.... BOO HOO! Original review: LOVE this concealer! Why did it take me so long to try this??? I have tried so many concealers, low end and high end, and is by far my favorite. I really like the applicator and this is so easy to blend in by patting with your finger, no rubbing needed. I have a light neutral skin tone and the "Light" color is a great match. Doesn't cover circles completely, but it does a great job of concealing them without looking cakey or fake. It does not settle into my lines and really does look natural. This is also a fantastic eyeshadow base. Ingredients: Water , Cyclomethicone , Trimethylsiloxysilicate , Butylene Glycol , Boron Nitride , Dimethicone , Phenyl Trimethicone , Nylon-12 , Tribehenin , Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone , Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate , Polyisobutene , Magnesium Sulfate , Tocopheryl Acetate , Retinyl Palmitate , Mallow Extract , Lily Bulb Extract , Lactobacillus/Eriodictyon Californicum Ferment Ext , Cymbidium Grandiflorum Flower Extract , Bisabolol , Silk Powder , Silk , Alumina , Trisiloxane , Methicone , Silica , Polyethylene , PEG/PPG-20/15 Dimethicone , Polysorbate 20 , Polysorbate 80 , Sorbitan Sesquioleate , Isohexadecane , Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate , Polydimethylsiloxane/Polymethylsilsesquioxane Copo , Triethoxycaprylylsilane , Tetrasodium EDTA , Phenoxyethanol , Methylparaben , Ethylparaben , Propylparaben , Iron Oxides CI 77491, 77492, 77499 - May Contain , Mica CI 77019 - May Contain , Titanium Dioxide CI 77891 - May Contain

Eye Shadow -Neutrogena - Nourishing Eye Quad
rated 5 of 5
sloro 1/23/2009 10:47:00 AM

This was an impulse buy because I loved the colors of the Sea Shell Quad. I haven't had any luck with any of the Neutrogena eye shadows in the past, so I wasn't expecting to like these. It comes in a small flip top compact with a large "Base" shade and three smaller shades; an accent color, crease color and a highlighter color. I must say that my favorite is the base shade, great color and pigment. I really like them all, they go on fairly sheer but with good color return. They blend beautifully together, and are not "sparkley or shimmery" but more glowy, if that's even a word! These last ALL DAY! This is also a great quad for those who are quite sure how to apply eyeshadow, as there are directions with pictures on the back for three different looks; natural, casual and smoky. Great for everyday wear. Compact is around $10, but can be purchased on sale at most CVS, Walgreen's and Rite Aid.

Cleansers -MD Forte - Facial Cleanser III
rated 5 of 5
sloro 11/16/2008 9:24:00 AM

This cleanser is fantastic! I did not have luck the Aqua Glycolic cleanser either. It actually seemed to clog my pores rather than clean my face. It does make a fabulous shaving lotion though. The MD Forte III Cleanser has been amazing for my skin. I put it on dry skin in the morning, leave it on for about one or two minutes and then add a bit of water, massage and remove with a wet microfiber cloth. My skin truly glows when using this! I don't think it would remove makeup well, so I wouldn't recommend it for that use. I am also using the MD Forte Facial Lotion II, and the Skin Rejuvination Eye Cream. I am having fabulous results with this line. You can purchase online at skincarerx.com and use code MUA20 for 20% off. Ingredients: Purified Water (Aqua), Glycolic Acid (and) Ammonium Glycolate, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Sorbitol, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

WOW! I am very impressed with these shadows. I am using the Storm Collection trio, and the pigments are fabulous! I've had a difficult time lately with my Mac shadows drying my eyelids, and becoming a bit irritating. I think I actually like this shadow set better than all of my Mac shadows! :-O Great quality shadows at a great price!!! ♥

Mascara -L'Oreal - Double Extend Beauty Tubes
rated 2 of 5
sloro 11/13/2008 8:13:00 AM

This is the most disgusting mascara to remove. I ended up with black slime in the shape of eyelashes all over my face, along with a few actual lashes, yuck! It did a decent job of lengthening my eyelashes and did not flake or smudge, hence the 2 lippie rating, but I cannot tolerate the removal of this stuff or losing eyelashes. This is definitely being returned!!!

Blush -Neutrogena - Soft Suede Blush
rated 5 of 5
sloro 11/12/2008 11:48:00 AM

HG daily blush for me! I have used this for the past two years and can honestly say that this has never caused any blemishes or clogged pores for me. The color is a neutral peachy brown that is flattering for both cool and warm tones with fair to medium skin coloring. I have tried other blushes, and though I have liked the colors on me, the red dyes *always* cause breakouts for me. I have used the Mocha, Wine & Raisin from this same line, and the Soft Suede is by far my favorite! Terrific natural blush color, and I highly recommend it! ♥ Ingredients: Polyethylene , Zinc Stearate , Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate , Ethylhexyl Palmitate , Retinyl Palmitate , Panthenol , Tocopheryl Acetate , Lauroyl Lysine , Sodium Dehydroacetate , Methylparaben , Propylparaben , Butylparaben , Iron Oxides - May Also Contain , Titanium Dioxide - May Also Contain , Mica - May Also Contain , Manganese Violet - May Also Contain , Red 7 Lake - May Also Contain , Red 6 Lake - May Also Contain , Bismuth Oxychloride - May Also Contain , Ultramarines - May Also Contain , Yellow 6 Lake - May Also Contain , Red 21 Lake

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Extreme Camouflage Cream
rated 3 of 5
sloro 11/7/2008 1:29:00 PM

I'm really on the fence about this concealer. I have tried several different ways to apply this (fingers, concealer brush, mixing with cream), and I just can't seem to get the application right. I have been using this for about 3 months. It has great lasting power (all day) and has a wonderful matte finish. It does have a tendency to show and highlight any dryness though. The packaging claims this is waterproof as well, but it does wash off easily with my regular cleanser. I'm using this in color #4, and it seems to be a good match to my light neutral skin tone. This doesn't seem to settle into fine lines as much as other concealers I have used, but it does still "settle". It's rather pricey for a concealer, $30, but the tube lasts forever.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - DHS Conditioning Rinse With Panthenol
rated 5 of 5
sloro 11/5/2008 8:46:00 AM

This is my HG Conditioner!!! I consider this the #1 conditioner for anyone who is acne prone, or prone to clogs along the jaw or hair line. This makes my hair shiny and healthy looking. It is not thick at all, and does a decent job detangling my very thick, highlighted, shoulder length hair. My hairstylist even commented how healthy my hair has been since I started using this about a year ago. This works magically with DHS Clear Shampoo. Most pharmacy counters can order for you and you will have it the next day, or drugstore.com has it for around $8. ♥♥♥ this, and cannot live without it!!! Ingredients: Water Purified, Glyceryl Stearate, Dicetyldimonium Chloride, Panthenol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20, Dimethicone Copolyol, Citric Acid, FD&C Yellow 6
