I am a mascara junkie (you can see my other reviews) - this is a result of my favorite mascara being discontinued (Maybelline Lash stylist) and my attempts to find my HG mascara again. I have fairly long but straight and thin eyelashes, so volume is a must for me. I am on my 3rd tube of this beauty and that is quite something for me. The brush is pretty much the same (if not identical) to Bourjois Liner effect mascara (which I did not like to start with, formula was too wet but it thickened after some time). So if you have never seen a brush like that, it may be little confusing as the mascara does not come with the instructions! As I had been using such a brush for quite some time, I figured out how to use it :-) The trick is to apply the mascara on your eyelashes with the short bristles first, then flip it and finish off the application with the longer bristles. This will give you a fairly good volume, separation and nice curl also. The formula is not too wet, which I like. It lasts all day. The mascara also comes in extra black color, which is great. I also have this one in waterproof - it does a similar job to the regular one; it stays on all day although it is not easy to remove (be ready for panda eyes next day). I prefer the regular one to the waterproof one. All in all, a very decent mascara, that gives nice (but not dramatic) volume, it separates well and holds curl nicely. I will be repurchasing and I hope Oriflame will not stop making it!
To start with, I have fairly long but thin and light eyelashes, so I'm always looking for good volume and color. I really had high hopes for this mascara - I wanted to try something that had natural ingredients. After reading reviews of various different mascaras, I decided to purchase this. I was sorely disappointed. I do not have particularly sensitive eyes but the mascara was stinging and burning my eyes badly. Reading other reviews of Lavera's mascaras I noticed that quiet a few reviewers experienced the same. It did nothing for volume or length either, it only added color. The brush is big and bulky, I understand that women either love it or hate it, I guess one needs to know how to use it. However the formula was rather wet and it would end up not only all over my eyelids but also in my waterline - so unless I was wearing a black eyeliner, there is was no point putting the mascara on with other eyeliner/eyeshadow colors. I tried it few times just to be sure, it was stinging me and it smudged every single time. What a waste of money.Avoid.
Mascara -Elizabeth Arden - Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara

I bought this on a whim for about a fiver in TKMaxx, so I can't really complain. I did not realize I bought it in 'blue' - the shade called Midnight should have been a clue:) I panicked slightly, as I am very pale and a red head and I would never buy a blue mascara. However, I was pleasantly surprised, the color was not as bright as it looked in the tube, but rather dark blue, so in a broad daylight, I have a hint of blue on my eyelashes, lovely. But that's where it ends for me. I have fairly long but thin eyelashes - I am always looking for volume and this definitely does not give any (not it does claim it would, so fair enough). Also, I do not believe in marketing tactics of 'making your lashes look x%longer' - if you don't have them physically, mascara can not give you a length that is not there in the first place. Thickness with the right texture - yes, length, no way. Mascaras cannot perform miracles, as much as we would like them to believe. I use this for day look, as apart from the lovely color, it does not do anything else for me. I am always on the go as my job involves to be on the move&I travel a lot on public transport, so any mascara I wear gets tried and tested properly-hot/cold, wet/humid conditions etc. This one fades away after a few hours. It is basically gone at the end of my 8 hour shift. If you have an office job, then perhaps it would be fine. Not for me. Would I buy again? Yes, if I got it for a fiver again. Otherwise no way. I have been using it for a month now and no lash extending so far - as I said earlier, I do not believe in such gimmicks anyway, so did not even expect it. As one lady said in her earlier post, take such claims at face value. But at least I got to try a mascara in blue shade:-)
This review is for the shade 'Bordeaux', which has been discontinued but there are still some available online if you look around. I have bought this on a whim. I have been looking for a dark red, long-lasting color for ages but I could not justify buying really expensive lipstick from the high end brands. It's a thick pencil, that can be used both as a lip liner and lipstick. It glides on easily, the formula is matt, slightly dry-ish but nothing that cannot be solved with a dash of lip balm. Apply, blot, then re-apply, the usual jazz. The staying power for such a cheap product is amazing, the pigmentation is great and color rather rich. Awesome. I still had some left after a few drinks and messy, greasy lunch. If I find more shades I like, I will definitely repurchase whilst I can. My only negative point is that the color is not as dark as I'd expect from a burgundy shade. It is a rather vivid, in your face red. Just to add, I have a pale skin tone, so that could be the reason why it looked so intense on me.(When my partner saw me, his reaction was, woooow, that's intense:-)
To sum it up with one word - meh. I gave in to the hype and bought this mascara as I wanted something more dramatic to wear for nights out. I was very lucky to get it cheaper on a promotion otherwise I would be raging. Packaging is lovely but ladies, we do not buy mascaras for packaging but for what they do, don't we? I have fairly long but thin, blond eyelashes, so volume and good coverage is a must. I was disappointed, expecting a dramatic look but did not achieve it, even after a few coats. It adds a little volume, separates ok, it does not smudge and as others said, it does not hold curl either. Very average mascara, you could get the same effect (if not better) with an average, low-end brand.
Treatments -Nature's Gate - C for yourself Vitamin C texturizing serum

I adore this product, where it has been all my life? I have a very sensitive skin and most products don't work for me (Vichy etc.), so I usually end up with very expensive hand creams as pretty much everything gives me a rash(or my boyfriend ends up using them:-) I resigned to using pure almond oil as it does not irritate my skin but it can be a nightmare to put on make up afterwards, as it is just too greasy. Anyways, I bought this as a random purchase in TKMaxx (UK). I am more than impressed. It is light, non-greasy, brightens up my skin, no nasty rash, tightens pores...it delivers exactly what it say on the package. Unfortunately it not the easiest thing to buy as UK stores do not sell it, so buying it will cost me much more than it costs you ladies in the USA. But I am prepared to order this beauty for the full price, because I don't think I can live without it now. I finally found something that works.
I bought this on a whim.I have long, but light and sparse eyelashes so volume is a must. This mascara promises 'false eyelash' effect. Well, I'd say it is nothing spectacular. The color is lovely, very similar to L'Oreal Voluminous in carbon black. However, I don't like mascaras that I have to wipe off my eyelid after the application (it's not that I don't know how to put it on), it's just a little messy. I've had it for about a week hoping it will improve. It has not. It does not last all day as it says it will, it definitely needs re-applying after about 5 hours and I always end up having panda eyes as it smudges. It colors, it gives a little volume and length but any mascara would do that for that effect. If the 'carbon black look' is what you are after, you will get better results with the already mentioned L'Oreal Voluminous in Carbon Black.
I have long, but sparse, light eye lashes, so the promise of volume but with extra ooopmh sounded amazing. But I found this mascara to be waste of my money. It looked ok to start with, it colored well, but nothing spectacular in terms of volume. However, after a few hours, it completely came off for no particular reason and I ended up with panda eyes. I have a busy job, always on a go and do not have time to re-apply my make-up during the day, I prefer something with more staying power. Ordinary Voluminous is much better than this.
I bought a gift set and this mascara was included in it. I tried it once and never bothered again as I did not like it. However after a few months (!) I decided to give it a try again, and I am pleased I did. It separates lashes beautifully, adds volume and holds curl. Everything I am looking for in a mascara. I does not flake and it does not smear. Lovely. (I have knocked off one lippy only because after after the whole day of wearing, you may need to reapply it again if you want to go out and party. But then I guess that would be the case with any other mascara).
I so wish to wear a lipstick that I wouldn't have to re-apply constantly. I was feeling rather hopeful about this one. I put it through a test of a 3 course lunch and it did not survive. It also started flaking after about an hour and made my lips feel quite dry. Disappointing.
Cleansers -Simple - Kind to Skin Refreshing Wash Gel
slivka81 12/18/2011 5:42:00 PM
I really like Simple products and I bought this wash gel because the shop I bought it from run out of my usual Simple wash gel, the "moisturising" one, which I have been buying for years. This one does the job but I am not keen on its texture, which I found to be a little 'slimy'. Will not buy again and will go back to my usual Simple wash gel.
It's my favorite soft kohl eye pencil ever. I have repurchased it so many times over the years that I have lost count, in many different colors. However Stormy Gray is my favorite.Cheap and cheerful. Great for everyday look, it lasts for ages.I even had random people asking me what pencil I was wearing. I put it on my eyes, then mascara and I'm ready to go.Well done Rimmel, I hope you won't stop making it, ever!
I have long, light but sparse lashes so I would like my product to add a bit of volume also. This does lengthen lashes, but then I'd imagine all mascaras would do that as they color lashes anyway. It did not do anything to add volume, just a bit of color. I have used it on false eyelashes though, which was fine. I wouldn't use it for anything else.
My lashes are fairly long but sparse; I expected more from this mascara. It separates lashes nicely but I wouldn't say it gives one 'false lash effect', but more of a natural look. Good for daily wear but I would not use it for a more dramatic eye make up. Also, I read an interview with a Max Factor make up artist, who said that it can be used as an eye-liner also, one just needs a good brush. Equipped with my Gosh brush, I tried to use it as an eyeliner, as I like the idea of 2-in-1 product. I was not impressed. I shall stick to my black eye liner.
Styling Products -TRESemme - Waterless Foam Shampoo for Dry/Curly to Normal Hair
slivka81 12/18/2011 6:07:00 AM
It refreshes hair nicely between washes and it gives it a fairly good volume; I did not expect miracles as it's so cheap, but for the price, one cannot complain. A nice change from dry shampoo.I am on my 3rd bottle.
