Lipstick -Suqqu - creamy glow lipstick #5
slipping_glimpser 3/26/2013 3:58:00 PM
This review is for the shade Suzumecha or #5. You know how somewhere you have read to use a lipstick 1-3 shades darker than your gums? Maybe not. At any rate, this is a mlbb with a just enough darker colour to enhance and lively up my appearance. Wonderfully moist and pigmented. A winner.

Eye Shadow -Chantecaille - marble
slipping_glimpser 3/26/2013 3:48:00 PM
This is one of Chantecaille's newer shine eye shades. The shade, marble, is a lovely taupe. It is a grayish/silvery taupe that never overwhelms and makes for a fast get to work look or beyond. I purchased in the the plastic as I don't want to spring for their holders. NW20 gray/blue eyes

Lipstick -Rouge Bunny Rouge - Colour Burst Lipstick 009 Nothing Unknown
slipping_glimpser 6/28/2011 3:30:00 PM
This is a unique blue based pink lipstick. The unique factor is the light reflecting iridescence that creates a two toned effect. Initially I thought this could be boring, but the more I wear it the more it grows on me. In fact, it has grown to a top rated your lips but better with the extra kick of the iridescence. This has a lovely texture and for me, is not drying. Since I started using it I've ignored all my other lipsticks. A true 10.

Brows -Becca - brow shaping gel
slipping_glimpser 6/25/2011 2:11:00 PM
A true find. This brow shaping gel is the best I've found. It is clear, never flakes, and holds brows in shape for the day. Aside from not flaking, it holds your brow color (pencil or powder) and shape all day long but never looks stiff or obvious. I think I paid about $20. Con: the packaging. After I had this for 2 days I noticed it was leaking out of the bottom of the tube. I was able to repair this with glue and it's fine now. I'd still repurchase and plan on stabilizing the tube. Hopefully, Becca will re package.

Misc Beauty Tools -Le Metier de Beaute - eyelash curler
slipping_glimpser 6/16/2011 4:36:00 PM
Finally and at long last, I have found an eyelash curler that does what it claims. I have many others (Shu,Shi,AuCoin and Tarte) and this is the only one that I never have to be cautious and continue to situate it until I am fairly sure I won't pinch myself. It's a dream and well worth the price. No more hesitation or gingerly approaches - I just apply this baby and curl.

Lipstick -Le Metier de Beaute - Ken Downing's Kissable Koral
slipping_glimpser 6/16/2011 4:27:00 PM
This is a bright, but not to the point that when someone sees you all they see are you lips, coraly red. For me, (NW20) it is the perfect shade of red. It doesn't go fuschia or have those pink undertones. It's one of those lipsticks that the color in the tube is what you see on your face. For me, that is hard to find in a reddish shade. There is quite a bit of pigment in it so 2 coats and you're set. I found this at Neiman Marcus but it may be available at Nordstroms as well.

Eyeliner -Sana - Maikohan sharp liquid eyeliner
slipping_glimpser 4/18/2010 3:32:00 PM
After i purchased this pen style eyeliner I came very close to throwing out all my other black liners. This is a holy grail. I've used it every day on my top lashes since I bought it on ebay @ViVi Diamond Club. It is deep black and though it removes very easily, it sets well, and lasts throughout the day. What truly makes it special is the fine line it lays down. I've spent lots to find a brush that would create a thin close to the lash type liner and never quite got there. This liner is superb. I will definitely buy again. I think it only comes in one color - deep black.

Eye Shadow -Fyrinnae - Eye Shadow - Sakura
slipping_glimpser 1/11/2010 6:35:00 PM
This is a Fyrinnae delight. In my 20 some years of wearing make up I have had people comment on how pretty my eyes looked 2x. One of those times was when i wore this shadow. It is deceptively plain in the pot. Once applied (I dip my brush and then spritz it with rose water) it becomes a stunning almost undescribable shade of eye brightening pink w/twinkling highlights. I am a MAC NW20 w/blue gray eyes. I got a sample and went right back on line to get the full size. It applies smoothly and lasts all day over a primer. A winner!

Lipstick -Guerlain - Rouge G De Guerlain - All Colors
slipping_glimpser 12/24/2009 12:11:00 PM
This review is for the Rouge G de Guerlain in #23 Geisha. Being a lover of red but fearful of the dreaded red gone fuschia I tend to get a bit anxious when I go to buy a red lipstick. What may look like that deep sexy red in the ads, in the tube, and even in other people's blog swatches doesn't always translate to that on my lips. After some experimenting I've come to look for that magic phrase " a little orange in the red." And, how could a lipstick named Geisha not be a winner? No worries. This lipstick is a winner. Though described as an orange red to me it is that medium red (not too bright, not too deep) that reminds me of old Hollywood glamour. The lipstick is creamy without being too slippery and pigmented enough for one tube to last a long, long time. This is a red that works right out of the tube on my NW20 skin tone. It is ridiculously expensive but for the right red I'll eat crackers for dinner. The tube is heavy and has a mirror built in but it doesn't stand up due to the shape. If you are a red lover this is highly recommended.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - About Face pigment for eyes in Because I Said So
slipping_glimpser 12/24/2009 11:55:00 AM
On those days when I am not in a rush it is usually fun to get out the loose mineral eyeshadows and experiment. Today I grabbed this one - a complex burgundy wine shade with some hints of pink glimmers. It, like many of the mineral shadows, doesn't look like much in the pan. Once on the myriad bits of twinkle begin to sparkle and make my blue eyes shine. I apply this over a primer and a very thin layer of white base. Tomorrow I will try with black to see the diffference. I took some points off because it came in a container without a "sifter" and hence can be messy. If you like the look of wine shades on your eyes this may be for you. It is not super glittery - more of a sheen, almost as if I had applied it wet. NW20 grey blue eyes

Eye Shadow -Le Metier de Beaute - true colour eye shadow in JoJo
slipping_glimpser 12/21/2009 12:13:00 PM
This is my first eyeshadow purchase from Le Metier. I will definitely go back for more. The shade is JoJo. It is a golden taupe. The texture is a gorgeous satiny fine textured powder with a slight sheen. At first this shadow (in the container) resembled the appearance of a Chantecaille. Once applied, the resemblance stopped. This Le Metier is beautifully pigmented. One swipe does it for an eye. I wore this all by itself with wonderful results. This shade lights up the eyes like magic (grey/blue eyes) and doesn't need anything except a bit of liner to provide a finished look. I love this shadow. It is just the right shade of taupe for my eye color and NW 20 skin. 3.8 gms or .13 oz in a round black rubbery plastic container with a mirror inside. Highly recommended.

Eye Shadow -Fyrinnae - Loose Eyeshadow powder in Medieval Howling
slipping_glimpser 11/8/2009 12:56:00 PM
What a wild out color! I love this shade and, as one would expect with Fyrinnae, it is almost impossible to pin down enough to describe. This one, to my eye, is a bronzey with deep green tints, and a gorgeous shot of gold that glints in the light. It makes a hypnotic liner and depending on the mixing medium you use, and how wet you get it, it goes from dark to light and glimmery gold. It is an excellent product. I paired it with some taupe shadow as a liner and it was the full deal package. Highly recommended.

Makeup Brushes -Becca - #18 Foundation Brush
slipping_glimpser 10/10/2009 5:10:00 PM
In the above comment section I noted I would buy this product again, however, I don't see this happening. I have owned this brush for about 8 years and it remains as good as new. I have other foundation brushes (Prescriptives,Smashbox, MAC) but none compare. I think it is how the bristles are cut and their thickness. I never get streaks or feel any scratchiness with this brush. I use it with cream and liquid foundations with great results. It is essential, in my opinion, as with all quality brushes to clean it up right after use. This way the bristles will never be damaged. I rinse it well under lukewarm water and then put some liquid soap in my balm and wipe it back and forth and then use my fingers to be sure all the foundation deep inside gets cleaned out, Rinse and hang from it's top w/a rubber band and hook and voila - like new. Try putting your primer on w/this brush and without cleaning go ahead and apply your foundation - guaranteed to make you smile.

Lipstick -Cinema Secrets - Red Passion
slipping_glimpser 10/10/2009 5:00:00 PM
Are you still looking for THE red lipstick? For $9.50 I suggest you give this one a try. It is a delicious red that though bright, doesn't create the clown lips or neonish shade most want to avoid. I am a NW20 w/light blue gray eyes if that helps for reference. I imagine this shade work well on many as it tends towards a berry-ish red that brightens one's face. Despite it having considerable pink tones it doesn't go fushcia (for those, like me who attempt to avoid this). I don't detect a scent. This lipstick feels moisturizing and is as long lasting as most.

Lip Gloss -Besame - Enriched Lip Glaze in Red Berry
slipping_glimpser 10/10/2009 4:44:00 PM
In the tube a vividly orange, almost psychedelic, shade. Once this coconutty scented gloss is added to red lips it transforms to what I love - no fuschia lips. Too many red glosses have too much pink for me and end up exacerbating the issue of red lipsticks that turn purplely pink. This is a wonderful enhancer for those of you who also cringe when you see reds turning against you. This gloss is smooth and not at all sticky. Did I mention that I like it on it's own as well? Another winner from Besame the manufacturer who helped me to love red lips.
