Cleansers -Erno Laszlo - Sea Mud Soap
skyeblu 10/31/2011 11:17:00 AM
I have been using this soap for ten years and continue to love it! Truly the best facial cleanser I have ever used, and only buy others to make this last longer. I apply it to my face at the beginning of my shower, and when I rinse it off at the end, I rub off lots of dead skin in places where I get flaky. Yet I never feel dry or tight after using this (I have combo skin that needs regular exfoliation, and I live in a very humid climate). This soap is both a wash and a treatment, and always leaves my face feeling super clean and flake-free. I'm a 1:00 skintype on the Erno Laszlo typing system, which means very slightly oily (noon is neutral), so it might be too drying for those with drier skin types. As for the price, I cannot emphasize enough how long these bars last - I using up the last bits of a bar that I bought about 2 years ago!!! Seriously, these bars are very high quality and in my opinion entirely worth the initial investment.

Highlighters -Tarte - Smooth Operator Illuminating Serum

I had been using a deluxe sample of this product and just ordered the full size. It's too dark for my very fair skin to use it as-is, but it's terrific to mix in with mineral sunscreens. I mix a few drops with my Clarins UV Plus and it neutralizes the white cast and adds a nice warm glow and evens my complexion a bit. I love being able to juice up my daily sunscreen with this! I also mix in a few drops with my Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer, as it has a matte finish and I prefer a more dewy/natural finish. I imagine this product is even more versatile for girls with less pale complexions.

Moisturizers -Dr. Alkaitis - Nourishing Treatment Oil

I got this product based SOLELY on the reviews from this site, and I was not disappointed!! I rub a bit between my fingers, press it into my face, undereye area, and neck, and wake up with glowing skin. I love using oils and this is my new favorite - effective, easily absorbed, and doesn't have that super "natural"-in-a-bad-way smell that makes your partner not want to sleep with your stinky oily face nearby! Very gentle and calming for my wacky, combination, kinda red, kinda dry, kinda blemished, kinda aging skin : )

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser

This cleanser really impressed me. I'd read reviews about it, heard it was great, but how good can a cleanser really be? Well, really good! It has little granules that I scrub in a bit, then I leave the cleanser on (and inhale its fresh floral scent) for the rest of my shower. When I rinse it off, it's like I used a cleanser and a mask. My skin is soft, not dried out, flake-free, and glowy. I'd say this would justify the $50 price tag if you can afford it. Plus, it's great to know it's made of wholesome, non-toxic ingredients.

I'm SO glad I got a sample of this product before purchasing! After hearing all the hype I was sure I was going to love it, but it isn't something I'd buy. It's more of a skincare product than makeup in it's texture - very emollient, so much so that it will easily rub off the skin, even if applied on top of powder. It's incredibly subtle and difficult to build because of its creamy texture, and subtle is hard to achieve on my super fair skin! I like that it's natural and non-toxic, but overall, it doesn't add anything to my makeup routine and I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone unless they have (1) skin with a bit of color (not much contrast on super fair skin) and (2) pretty dry skin in need of radiance. If your skin is a bit oily, or you live in a humid environment, this just tends to slip off.

Shampoo -Bumble & Bumble - Sunday Shampoo
skyeblu 9/25/2010 9:50:00 PM
Excellent clarifying product. It does not make my hair (which is fine yet quite dry at the ends) feel overly stripped. Instead, I get surprisingly shiny hair that can wait an extra day until the next shampoo. As other reviewers rightly mentioned, it's best to follow up with a deep conditioner. This is absolutely a Sunday staple!

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Powder Blush in Pale Pink
skyeblu 7/22/2010 11:31:00 PM
LOVE this blush - really perks up my fair skin and works beautifully with my cool undertones. I feel like this blush was made for super-fair girls like me! Yes, you MUST use a light hand - dipping your brush into a bit of MUFE HD translucent powder beforehand helps assure you don't go overboard. A BB MUA first used this on me with Forest liner and Pale Mauve lip color, and it was the perfect combo to bring out my green eyes and felt like I wasn't working against my natural coloring. I HIGHLY recommend for other fair-skinned girls, or those with cool undertones (can't speak for those with warmer complexions).

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Ash Shimmer Wash
skyeblu 7/22/2010 11:25:00 PM
This was recommended to me by a BB MUA. I'm quite fair, so was very surprised to find the color takes a lot of building to show up on my skin. It's a great everyday lid shade (layered over a matte white/cream shade) - the taupe color is neutral, and it has a subtly silvery finish, so it looks nice with my cool complexion. The shimmer wash shades can be applied with a brush, but I find using my finger instead allows for more density of color.

Conditioner -Terax - Crema

Definitely overhyped, based on my experience. It was terrible the first time, after shampooing, but I gave it another chance. I used it for the second time after just rinsing hair with water and not washing, as I do now and again to try to keep my hair healthy and moisturized. Even with the natural oils in my scalp, the hair still came out as a huge puff-ball, sticky and tangled, as it did the first time. My hair is fine but tends to be frizzy/flyaway, and I've never ever had a problem with tangles - in fact, I rarely need to brush my hair; just an occasional pass of a wide-toothed comb usually suffices. So I was shocked to have knots amid a poofy, dull halo of hair. Maybe it's too heavy for my hair, maybe it's not good in humid climates (which Houston in July certainly qualifies as). My experience leaves me wondering why I heard so many good things about it all these years.
