Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Nasomatto China White

First off, it smells like Carefree pantiliners before they toned down the fragrance a lot. Now, I always liked the smell, but it is possible to have too much of a good thing. I think it is the subliminal connection with the intimates of a woman that brings out the scandal and "skanky" vibe that people get from this. It is warm and spicy-incensy so it also brings out the "closer" feeling of it. I don't know scents well enough to pick out certain notes. I go to school with a girl who wears this as her signature scent and it smells much more musky on her (in the bodily fluid type of way which is NOT good). But on me, it was exactly how it smells in the bottle and it was pretty linear and had good staying power as well. On another note: I always have good experiences with Nasomatto, the quality is very good. The packaging for this product is probably the best I have ever seen! All in all, I liked this scent very much, but it's just not quite my cup of tea. I tend to like fruity-florals more.

I tend to love all perfumes for what they are, even if they're meant to mimic tarnish or rhubarb, funeral homes, laundry detergent, or play dough. But, I sincerely do not understand how anyone could like this! It is possible that I was exposed to a bad batch, but for such a mass-produced perfume, I doubt it. I did notice that both Sephora and Ulta store a lot of their fragrances under warm lights and/or in direct sunlight, and I KNOW that warps the oils in the mixture. But I have been exposed to this fragrance throughout my lifetime, and have come to this conclusion: This is the Splenda of perfumes. It says "i'm wearing perfume" in that bug spray kind of way. It just smells like some sort of burnt chalky, slightly sweet powder mixed with atomized alcohol. Tropical? Absolutely not. Good? Not even close. Do I suggest it? Not to my worst enemy. Do yourself, and others, a favor and try something that isn't so obviously composed of synthetic chemicals.

Fragrances -Cacharel - Amor Amor

Two things: I still love it . . . but I wish they hadn't reformulated it. This has been my signature scent since it was introduced in 2003, so that's nearly ten years. I have gone through four bottles in that time. However, with the last bottle I purchased about a year and a half ago, I noticed the the scent had changed. I had some remaining in my other bottle so I compared: they did indeed smell different. Sure, you'd probably have to really know the scent like I did (wearing it every single day for nearly ten years), to notice the difference, but I am still saddened by the reformulation every time I put it on. It still smells very nice (one of the very best perfumes I have ever smells in my whole life). However, the new formula is noticeably more "perfume-y" and much more synthetic! (to my horror, believe you me) and lacks the depth and rooted warmth it used to have. I will probably have a bottle of it for the rest of my life, since I still like it so much, but it will forever be in remembrance of it's once shining beacon of light amongst "perfumes". I am reaching the point in my life where I understand the words of elders when they say "oh when I was a girl that smells so much sweeter" or "cocoa these days is SO much less rich that when I was young". Oh goodness. I am getting old :( On another note: it's a fantastic youthful fragrance! Beautiful actually! And, like it's name suggests, all of my loves have told me, ad infinitum, how much they love the scent on me, how even after I am gone they can smell my sweet fragrance remaining, and oh! how they miss it/me when I am away. This fragrance always reminds them of me and whenever they smell it somewhere else it causes them to think of me. Now how's that for a fragrance legacy that speaks it's name! Amor Amor. *crosses fingers* I will have to try to find and old bottle somewhere and store that for special occasions . . . .*plots* 4.24.2012 edit>>> I realized that the note they seem to have adjusted was the sandalwood. I think they replaced it with cedarwood. (I have a thing against cedarwood. The smell just makes me sad. Sandalwood, on the other hand, i LOVE.) The cedar becomes cool and somewhat overwhelming. I don't know if it's a particular batch, but it seems to take center stage now, rather that the sparkling iridescent fruity-floral of my youth. I think they did it to make it "edgy", but in so doing, it seems to have lost a lot of it's coziness, sensuality, and warmth. It is just my opinion, but the cedar makes it a less approachable fragrance.

Bubbly, powdery, warm and cool at the same time. It's a heavenly, sophisticated, and friendly scent. It seems to smell pretty uniform across the body chemistry's (had my mom and several friends try it - it changes only in the powder note as far as I have noted). In all: a very chic, European, happy scent! Go try some! It even lasted several hours on me!

Shampoo -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Lemon Clarifying Shampoo

I was SO disappointed in this product. It smells AMAZING, but my scalp broke out in sores. I had gone from only shampooing my waist length hair in conditioner and decided to try this because it was in a co-op and smelled wonderful. I looked up the ingredients and was disappointed with what I found. I have had reactions to chemical shampoos ever since i went to plain organic conditioners. Don't risk it with this one if you're sensitive to chemicals.

Fragrance -Penhaligon's - Endymion
skinnyfooted1 10/14/2011 6:09:00 PM
Endymion is AMAZING!!! It is supposed to be for men, but this smells so good that I just don't care! I put it on, realized it was definitely for men, and then went on with my day. I kept smelling this amazing sweet, spicy smell. All day long I kept wondering what this smell was. Nope, it was my arm! Endymion may start off masculine, but it mellows out to the most blissful, soft, sweet, spiced scent. It smells like chai with milk on me :) :) :) mmmm delicious!!! As soon as i can afford to, I am buying the full size!

Fragrances -Penhaligon's - Hammam Bouquet

Two things: 1.) It burned when I put it on, which was odd. 2.) After the burning went away, I was overwhelmed by this awful scent. I had SUCH high hopes for this scent as the description for it was everything I love in perfumes. But this was a scrubber all the way. It just smelled like Muskol Insect repellant on me. Heavy sharp geranium.

Wow, this scent is strangely addicting. I bought it decant a few days ago, put it on, and soon forgot about it. But, as the day wore on, I kept smelling tiny whiffs of something very pleasant. My first impression was that it was totally forgettable, but somehow, i keep coming back to it. And this is probably the tenth time I have put it on since I got it. The phial is going to be empty soon and I may have to go purchase a full bottle of this blissfully happy, soothing, warm, sweet scent!

Demeter makes a better true LOTV scent. It smells okay, just not quite right. And maybe it was just me, but this smelled a little sour.

Fragrances -Penhaligon's - Bluebell
skinnyfooted1 10/14/2011 5:51:00 PM
i know this is awful but this was what wwent through my head when i tried Bluebell on: "Princess Diana wore this?! No wonder Prince Charles cheated on her! I would if my wife wore this. It doesn't matter if you're uncannily beautiful, if you smell sin you can't be near the smell!" That said, I absolutely adored Princess Diana and cry every time I think of her. My lip is even quivering a little right now! But truly, this did NOT smell good. Maybe my chemistry hates certain smells (as I am learning it does), but this one was yet another scrubber.

Fragrances -Penhaligon's - Eau de Verveine
skinnyfooted1 10/14/2011 5:29:00 PM
This smells EXACTLY like 4711. Not even kidding. I could detect absolutely no difference. My mother wears 4711 and has since she was a young woman. We've always had big bottles around, so trust me when I say this. That aside, i like 4711 and it's a comforting smell to me, so I like it. But, it's not my thing, it's hers, so I probably won't buy this again. For those of you who really gravitate to 4711 smells and citrus-y scents, go for it! You will not be disappointed. The quality of this stuff still amazes me!

Fragrances -Penhaligon's - Amaranthine
skinnyfooted1 10/14/2011 5:25:00 PM
I don't know why anyone would ever want to wear this. It is truly awful. It's a scrubber all the way. Maybe you're lucky and have fantastic body chemistry with this, but on me it just smelled like salad dressing - and not good salad dressing either. Instead it smells like the kind you throw out because it has fluorescent mold growing in the bottle. It has a sharp toxic smell to me. Very chemically. Update: I put a normal amount on my arm earlier to make sure it was as bad as my first impressions. Throughout the day I kept feeling my nose twinge and I was wondering what that awful rancid smell was - "oh yes," I kept thinking, "it's Amaranthine."

Fragrances -Penhaligon's - Malabah
skinnyfooted1 10/14/2011 5:14:00 PM
Despite beautiful packaging, this one was truly a scrubber. The Cilantro note completely destroyed what otherwise would have been a pleasant fragrance. It wound up smelling like a pet shop I used to go to when I was a little girl. Not exactly a seductive, pleasant aroma. . . Honestly, I am still amazed at how strong the Cilantro note was. Maybe it wears off but, it was too much for me.

Yeah, gotta say I was disappointed with this one. It smells like certain types of wall paint, but if you're looking for anything but that, probably don't get this.
