Bronzers -New York Color - Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny 720
sinkin2heart 2/3/2013 12:45:00 AM
I'd like to co-sign seacolourr's review; I had the exact same issues with this product. This product is not for ultra-pale (nc-10/nc-15) people, such as myself. When swatched next to my Sephora Los Cabos bronzer (which I happen to love), it's a terracotta orange color-- not a natural color for pale girls. Unless I'm dressing up as an Oompa Loompa for Halloween, this will never get any use out of me. If you're pale and bought this for contouring, you can forget about -- this is not the product for you. I'd suggest either NYX's Taupe blush, Sephora's Los Cabos bronzer, or looking into matte eyeshadows/face powders for a good contour. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this product, since the only things this has going for it is its price and availability.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Lust for Blush Color Whisper
sinkin2heart 1/14/2013 7:11:00 PM
I think I may have just found the PERFECT color dupe for MAC Angel lipstick! Side by side they are so hard to tell apart. Angel is frosty, while Lust For Blush is glossy, but I'm looking at it really closely (my nose is almost touching the swatch), but I might as well be nitpicking. Anyway, as far as the product goes, it's a nice tinted lip color along the lines of Revlon's lip butters and L'oreal's Le Balms (neither of which I've tried). On my lips, I need 2-3 swipes to get a nice color payoff. This, of course, may vary depending on your skin tone. Formulation-wise, it's smooth, glossy, but doesn't bleed outside the lips on me. It will cling to dry patches, though. The scent smells faintly like Fruity Pebbles cereal, to me. The packaging is okay; it comes in a slimmer tube than the Maybelline Colorsensational lipsticks, but essentially looks the same. As far as repurchasing, I emphatically say yes! MAC Angel is one of my favorite lipsticks, so finding a lower cost dupe at the drugstore with a good formula, at half the price, is a no-brainer.

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Daisy
sinkin2heart 11/29/2012 10:27:00 PM
Until recently, i used to love this scent :( Now I find it smells way too much like Nair hair removal lotion. In case anyone is wondering, I own the EDT version, so the scent might differ from the EDP, as far as I know. I remember this being a lovely spring/summer fragrance I could wear daily. Now, it collects dust on my vanity. I try every once in a while to use it, but I end up having to spray myself with another fragrance to mask the scent. R.I.P my love affair with Marc Jacobs Daisy.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
sinkin2heart 11/29/2012 9:57:00 PM
Honestly, I'm surprised by all the good reviews for this mascara. I happen to think this mascara is boring, unless layered with another mascara. The results I get with this mascara are lengthened, but natural -- nowhere close to high impact. I'm pretty sure there are drugstore alternatives that can give the same effect. I wouldn't purchase this again.

Best razor, hands down, for getting a close shave.

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm
sinkin2heart 11/29/2012 9:13:00 PM
I purchased this at my local Sephora for about 7-8 dollars, which is pricier than the average drugstore lip balm, but not as expensive as other balms sold at Sephora (Korres, Fresh Sugar, etc.). I had initially wanted to try the original Smith's Rosebud Salve, but they were out of them (except for one nasty, finger-dipped tester), so I was left with this balm and the mint rose balm. I decided on the strawberry balm, as I have enough minty/menthol balms. Now onto the product: Packaged in a round tin that would fit in the palm of one's hand, it's not the most sanitary packaging, but it's cute, in a kitschy sort of way, and easy to find in my handbag. I've seen the tube version being sold on the internet, but the reviews for those aren't as positive, with some reviews stating that the tin version is far more superior. The scent of this product is, surprisingly, pleasantly light & sweet, and not the artificially fruity one I initially expected it to be. Texture-wise, it's like vaseline, but different -- like a harder, less greasy version. It's not waxy, either. I rub my finger in circular motions 3-4 times to pick up enough product to apply to my lips, rub my lips together, et voila! My lips are nice and soft. So, on to the burning question: Would I purchase this product again? Yes! Even with the insane amount of lip balms in my collection, this one stands out and I reach for this more often than the others (and I haven't even had it for a month!). It manages to keep my lips soft without having to reapply my lip balm as often.

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Pur Couture #10 Beige Tribute
sinkin2heart 10/27/2012 1:29:00 AM
****Update: I've noticed it start to look too dark for my skintone. Rose Bermagesque, however, still looks good on me. Favorite color, aside from Rose Bermagesque, that I love from this line of lipsticks. This color is a no-brainer for days when I just want to wear a lip color that will look good on me with whatever makeup look/outfit I choose. Also, unlike YSL's Rouge Volupte lipsticks, I love the formula of the Rouge Pur Couture lippies much more, as they're not as slippery, don't bleed as much, and don't have a scent. Only qualm is that you need to have smooth, un-chapped lips for this because otherwise it will settle into those dry areas -- oh, yeah, and it's quite expensive. Would I recommend? Yes.

Polishes -Maybelline - Express Finish Touch of Taupe
sinkin2heart 10/23/2012 7:23:00 PM
Purchased this at a Dollar Tree, and I have to say that I'm in love with this particular taupe nail polish. It's opaque, applies like a dream, and dries quickly. Plus, it's one of the few taupe-colored polishes that doesn't lean lavender on my nails. Only cons I'd say are that it's a discontinued product and I'm not too sure how long it'll last before it starts to chip. Overall, if you find it, buy it.

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Volupte #17 Red Muse
sinkin2heart 10/3/2012 3:37:00 AM
I received this as a gift a couple of years ago and can honestly say I've used it only twice. This particular lipstick is a blue-based red that I'm not a fan of. I happen to own other red lipsticks, most of which lean neutral to warm and work wonderfully with my skin tone, so this is one of the few that I can't ever get to look right on me. My other problem is the formula. It's so creamy, that it bleeds easily, unless I use a lip liner, which is a no-no since I have red lipsticks that are much less high maintenance and cost 1/3 of the price of this lipstick. Also, I have an almost-exact color dupe: Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Temptation. The differences being, of course, formulation, texture and a shimmery (but hardly noticeable) finish. As for the packaging, it's lovely. It's a sturdy, somewhat heavy lipstick case I can't help but admire. Too bad I can't say the same for the actual product :(

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Silk Finish lipsticks
sinkin2heart 10/3/2012 3:04:00 AM
A good, affordable way to try colors one wouldn't otherwise try. For a dollar (or less), these are great to experiment with. I have quite a few (Nouveau Pink, Blushing Bali, Hot Red, Dark Wine, Breeze, etc), and while I'm not fond of all of them, I will use them when trying to achieve certain looks. They are moisturizing and have no offensive scent. The only problems I would say they have is that they aren't long lasting and bleed. The packaging, of course is pure crap. Encased in a cheap, plastic tube that won't allow the bullet to fully retract (I've nicked these lipsticks more times than I can count). Overall, I say try them. They definitely won't break the bank.

Conditioner -Aussie - Moist Conditioner

HG conditioner, without a doubt. I used to use more expensive conditioners, but none could come close to the amount of conditioning this product does. This makes my extensions much more manageable and silky smooth. I will continue to use this and would highly recommend.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner
sinkin2heart 6/25/2012 11:50:00 AM
One of the few liners that almost reaches HG status, I like this better than Milani Liquifeye, Prestige Total Intensity, and NYX Slide on. The others just don't set as quickly as this one. Plus, I find this lasts a lot longer. I'd like to compare it to the Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Perversion, but I think I got a defective one of that since it was dried; the actual product looks like it shrunk in the casing, so that's going back to sephora. For now, this is my favorite pencil liner.

Lipstick -Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics - Lip Tar
sinkin2heart 6/3/2012 3:48:00 PM
I have to agree with Valentina555, this product leans too peachy/orange for me to use, but I'm an NC-15 girl with pale lips, so I suppose more pigmented lips would be able to pull it off? Plus, I already own a similar product to it: NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Nude Peach Fuzz. I find that one to be superior to this, as it's thicker, not as drying, and has better packaging, IMO. The staying power for both is about 3 to 4 hours, so not all too different in my eyes. Overall, I wouldn't repurchase this.

Blush -NYX - Angel
sinkin2heart 6/1/2012 2:05:00 PM
I was hoping this blush would be the nice, light mauvey-pink color I've seen in most swatches, like the one in the second picture on this page. Instead, it's much more like the third picture. This color is not flattering on me, personally. I'm a pale (NC-15) girl and this blush is peachy/coral color which makes me look sunburned. Not a good look for me. Price wise, it's fairly inexpensive (I purchased off Amazon), but I paid too much for a blush I'll rarely use, unless by some miracle I manage to tan. The batch number, if anyone is interested is: 04102011. I'm guessing this is the date of production and one of the newer versions. Overall, I would recommend trying before buying if you can.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - sea island cotton
sinkin2heart 5/29/2012 2:39:00 AM
I received the gift set of this scented spray, lotion, and body wash a couple of years ago. I'm not too fond of the smell; it smells like dryer sheets, to be honest. Plus, it's so overwhelmingly strong that I find that in can become nauseating. My preferred use of the spray is for my linens and couches. That's the only way I'll be able to finish this off. Overall, I would never have purchased this myself (thanks, "friend"), as I'm not too keen on the scent.
