Moisturizers -Caudalie - Vinosource Quenching Sorbet Creme
since2009 12/27/2011 9:21:00 AM
I was impressed by how light and moisturizing this cream is on my face, it was nice to use during the summer and it gives moisture without feeling greasy and sits nicely under make up. But I'm older and needs more than just moisturizing my skin, like lifting, and wrinkle fighting and this cream doesn't do any of that, so I won't be repurchasing this again, even though I quite like it, I have to move on to more "functional" skincare, which is a shame because the texture feels really really nice.

Blush -NARS - Desire
since2009 10/28/2011 10:11:00 PM
I love blushes and have 6 NARS blushes in my stash, if I ever looses all of my NARS blushes this is truly the only one that I would repurchase, as the color is unique, less dupable and the results is amazing, it can make you look dainty or crazy so be careful of how much you put on. : P But I still love it, this is one of my versatile blush color.

Eyeliner -Tarte - EmphasEYES Aqua-Gel Eyeliner
since2009 6/11/2011 9:48:00 AM
I have trouble finding a good eyeliner that would last on me and not smudge, slip or fade through out the day, and this little gem delivers all that in an easy to apply pen. (all mac liners, nars liners, chanel liners and bobbi brown gel liners all smudges very badly on me and makes me look like a crack head by lunch time) I love that this brown is dark and intense, a true brown color not reddish at all. However, the liner itself is soo soo soft, you find that you use a lot quickly or if you turn up too much it will break on you.........not good (hence the 4 lippies) But I find that if you sacrifice the convenience of a pen liner and actually use a brush to get the product to line your eyes you can achieve a much thinner line with way less product than applying directly to your eye. Yes, it defeats the purpose of a "pen" liner but I think of it as "at least it won't dry up like the pot eyeliner would over time because of the tiny opening". But since it stays on like no body's business, does not fade or slip around and comes off so easily with make up remover, I can over look that. Overall, I like this very much. Too bad I don't have easy access to this as the one I got was a gift from Hubby's business trip to the US. (I gave him the "To Buy" list of course, and he was very good in managing to bring one back for me) I would repurchase.

Polishes -Zoya - hope
since2009 2/14/2011 7:07:00 PM
I decided I wanted to get this polish before I even sees it just because of it's name, but when I see the colour it's LOVE! This is an awesome shimmery metallic purple polish, the colour is intense and rich. Application is easy, good formulation. With 2 coats and top coat this easily last up to 5 days with no chipping whatsoever.

Treatments (Eye) -Cle de Peau - Cle de Peau Baume Contour des Yeux Anti-rides
since2009 12/9/2010 8:56:00 PM
I bought these two eye products from Cle be Peau hoping that they'd help with the puffiness (early bags) and a wrinkle or two under my eyes plus a little darkness. 1) essence contour des yeux anti-cernes / eye contour essence anti-dark circles -fragrance free -creamy consistency -comes in a tube 2) baume Contour des Yeux Anti-rides / eye contour balm anti-wrinkle -fragrance free -creamy consistency but lighter than the above -comes in a vacuum pump I use (no.1) during night time only and in a few weeks of use, I had a skin rash around my eyes, you can't see that the skin is any different but it burns a little when I apply the day time eye cream (no.2)......I found out later on that this product contain some kind of rectinol and as you know this acts like an exfoliants, and so what's happened in my delicate eye area was "over exfoliation"!! I stopped using this and used only the no.2 eye cream and my eye area recovered in about a week's time with no complication, my only grip was that it didn't improve anything under my eye in the long term, i.e, the wrinkle is slightly less obvious but it was only due to being "over exfoliation". In essence it didn't make the wrinkle "go away" by improving tone or elasticity, and it's only a temporary fix. Have stopped using it completely as I am after improving tone and elasticity and this is not the product for it. I'm using it on the lines I have on my neck to lighten them just so I could use this up. Needless to say I will not be re-purchasing. The SA never mentioned that this have rectinol in it or else I wouldn't have bought it. Second product, didn't cause any irritation, but then it didn't do anything! Wasn't as moisturizing as I've hoped it would be, dark circles still there and I've been using this mostly once daily for 5 months. Yeah it lasted this long but so what that it has lasted this long!? It costed a bomb and did nothing, it's not even a decent moisturizer!! I'm very disappointed with this brand thus far, and I have yet to open the face lotion and toner that I have bought.......and I'm not looking forward to trying them out either.......but I have to use them up, gosh they were so expensive.......so upset with myself that I bought into the hype. If I could give negative lippies, these gets them!!!

Treatments -Loma - Pearatin Fortifying Repairative Serum
since2009 5/31/2010 11:48:00 PM
I read on MUA that coconut oil do magnificent things for hair, tried it, made my hair softer but didn't really help a whole lot (I wanted a miracle fix!!) and the results did not last on me. So, I was even more desperate, having tried coconut oil which a lot of people swears by and not worked for me I bought my first bottle after reading all the reviews here. Thanks MUA!! Bio: I WAS blessed with really nice soft hair that gets compliments, but motherhood changed all that 6 years ago. After I had my son, my hair went wavy (granted it's nice, looks like I had it permed), but my hair also becomes DRY and WIRY, so bad that feels coarse to touch and it tangles. = ( Having had years of good hair, I now have no control over my hair whatsoever. It's bad hair day everyday, so I can not wear my hair down it's just dark wavy hay, so I tied it up all the time in a pony tail, and even then it looks bushy and dry and all things bad. *sigh* Hair salon treatment brought temporary relive that don't last more than a week (too expensive and time consuming to keep up anyway). Home hair packs gives decent looking hair for 24 hrs, after that my hair'd lost it's moisture and becomes dry again, and there's a lot of breakage too. Tried putting oil on my hair, which works rather well on the out side. made hair looks shinny and well maintained, but if I forget to do this step it's back to wavy hay again. So the oil only made it look good, but it didn't do much about improving the actual condition of my hair. On my recent visit to the hair dressers, I was told to was my hair everyday. (used to wash every other night) so I did, but I have long hair so I had to blow dry......and kappow......just when I thought things couldn't get worse it did. My hair becomes even drier than before!!! The condition of my hair was at an all time low *depressed sigh* Stopped washing everyday, no using hairdryer unless I had to and tried different kinds of hair conditioners and packs, but I find that my hair had become so damaged that it doesn't retain moisture from the treatments at all. *wimper* Came to MUA in search of help and found these reviews, ordered it online right away. I live aboard and had to pay shipping that cost more than the product itself but it did not deter my determination to try this because of the promising reviews below (plus I was seriously desperate). Product arrived, tried it on dry hair right away not a moment to lose, and WOW!!! Made my hair soft right away!! It's just the MAGIC that I was hoping and looking for. *love love love* I testify to the truth that this serum seriously do not weight down hair at all! I expected a lot from this product, having bought this based on the reviews and I can say they are all true! = ) Washed my hair that night and used it again on went hair , it detangles very well. But the truly amazing thing was that it works even better when applied on wet hair!! After my hair dried, I noted that the condition of my hair was even better than when I had used oil on my hair, plus the serum smells divine. *yum* Finally, something that give amazing LASTING results. Results that I would be willing to pay even more than the expensive shipping for. Will definitely buy again, couldn't imagine living without it now!!

Eyeliner -Shiseido - Majolica Majorca Automatic Eye Liner
since2009 3/24/2010 3:17:00 AM
This is the only pen shape liquid liner I can use with ease, because it has the best bristles ever! The bristles are not too soft <----too hard to handle, nor too hard <----good to draw cat eye flick. I'm with the other reviewer that I hate fiddling with pot and brush in the form of a gel liner in the morning, simply because I cannot afford the time. So this saves the day for me. Looks just as good, but ten times faster! lol ;D The formulation is that this dries to a film, so when you take it off with an eye make up remover at night, you'll find that it comes off in flakes instead of being dissolved by the remover like other liquid eyeliner would. Which is also a good thing that if it wears off during the day you could just quickly retouch it because it just flake off and would not leave behind any smudges. Even bobbi brown gel liners smudges on me, but this doesn't and so I went overboard and bought the lot in black, blue, brown, green, red/pink and gold.....lol

Concealers -La Mer - The Radiant Concealer SPF25
since2009 3/3/2010 10:29:00 PM
bought this purely because I'm always on the look out for my HG concealer and 2nd because this is the only concealer I know that has SPF protection. And it make sense to put something that has sun protection and are designed for the eye area since that is the most fragile part of the face and wrinkles easily. I was shocked that this concealer is so expensive, but then I reasoned that it has a very decent SPF of 25 and that some of the more mature reviewers here said that it doesn't creeps into the fine line under the eye and still gives excellent coverage - I'm sold. The SA at the counter was no make-up artist, and didn't really do a good job at apply this to my under eye when I tried it out but I did my homework and was very determined to buy this so I just had to match my colouring and that was that. This comes in a tiny compact that is very well made, with a leather pouch, mirror and a good quality concealer brush too, just wish that it's a little slimmer. The coverage of this is amazing, I apply with my finger. Just lightly pat the concealer to get the tiniest bit of product onto finger and then pat onto under eye and set with powder. I was so amazed that so little product can give such excellent coverage and brighten the under eye area in a radiant way and not by lightening the shade, way better than bobbie brown which just slips around and runs into fine lines under my eye even after setting it with powder. I'm very very pleased with this and I can finally say that this is my HG concealer. A little goes a long way with this and I have been using mine for 4mths now and you can only just begin to see a very slight dip! I imagine this would last for years and if I ever run out I would definitely buy this again.

Brows -Illamasqua - Eye Brow Cake
since2009 2/5/2010 11:38:00 PM
I've heard so much good things about Illamasqua's product I just had to buy some...lol I first heard about this on a youtube channel called whatstyleistonickel (love him!!), and saw how he used this wet (YES you can actually use this WETor DRY! so cool huh!) to draw a really really precise brow and he was sharing how very very pigmented this brow powder is......I just thought I had to try this out. So, my order finally arrived today (like 30mins ago). I ripped it open and reach for this little gem ^o^ right away. My eyebrow's natural condition is ok, I do pluck and trim a little because some of the brow hair is a little long and my brow's hair grow downwards so I've got to trim to neaten up the line on the bottom of the brow. But I do have some sparse spots within the brow so I can never just fill in the sparse spots (have not manage to find exact match to be able to get away with only that) So my usual eyebrow routine is to use a brow powder to fill in the brow lightly and then fill in the sparse spots with a darker eyebrow pencil that match my hair colour and also to fill in little nicks to achieve a smooth line on the bottom of the brow. But it's kinna hard to draw a very precise line with a brow pencil because of the thickness of the point. However with this brow powder because it's so pigmented I could just use an angled brush to dab the product to smooth out the little nicks and because the pigmentation is buildable this means I can use just one product to achieve it instead of 2, i.e. just lightly fill in the brow then darken sparse spots with this eyebrow cake, I find that other eyebrow powder doesn't adhere as well when you try to build heavier colour with more product but this works so well. And also because the angle brush gives such a precise line I can do this super quick to achieve a smooth line on the bottom of the brow! No need to go back with q-tips to clean up over drawn areas. LOVE LOVE LOVE this! The price is ok, I have bought more expensive eyebrow pencil, gel, powder than this and they didn't work as well. Although this is not very cheap, with performance like this I can accept the price. I said I would buy this again, but so little product gives such great pigmentation and a little goes a long long way I really don't think I'll need to for a long long time to repurchase. Am a little disappointed that all Illamasqua compact products did not have a button to release the lid, instead you have to dig your nail into a little crevasse to release the lid which could ruin manicures. But because their product is so good I can overlook this. I've also got other products to try out so there will be more Illamasqua reviews coming. = D

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 138 Tapered Face Brush
since2009 12/31/2009 9:59:00 AM
I have searched high and low for the perfect blush brush, and have tried many many and I'm glad to announce my search ends here. Unlike some brushes that are too big and you end up applying blush where you didn't want or too small where it takes a few go before you have the right application and risk over applying, this is just the just the right shape for the apple of my cheeks, picks up just the right amount of products and applies in just a couple of sweeps across my cheeks. Blush application have gotten quick and easy since getting this brush, and honestly I just don't reach for my other blush brushes any more since I've gotten this brush. Yes, it's quite expensive, but it's worth every penny and if the unthinkable of me ever loosing or breaking mine, I would definitely repurchase. Come to think of it, maybe I should get one more now, so I can have one for my warm colour blushes and one for my cool toned blushes.....

Eyeliner -MAC - Penultimate Eye Liner - Rapidblack
since2009 12/30/2009 9:57:00 AM
This is my first ever MAC liquid eyeliner, and quite frankly I didn't really know why I bought it......since I already have similar eyeliners at home. It's a pen shaped eyeliner, with a felt-tip applicator, delivers an intense black line when it works properly! Yes, when it works properly, the tip of mine is somehow on the dry side, it's like the "ink" doesn't seeps to the tip of the applicator so it doesn't draw very well......very very disappointed with this liner. Another thing is, for those of you that are after a smudge proof, stay-put liner note that this liner is not waterproof or water-resistant at all.....(again, I didn't know what I was doing when I bought this) Overall, the packing is very convenient to use, however mine is not working properly (let's just hope that I was unlucky to have gotten a faulty one) but because it is not water proof and that I got a faulty one it's obvious that it leaves me with a bad impression and so I will pass this in the future.

Eye Shadow -Jill Stuart - Eye Jelly
since2009 10/22/2009 8:59:00 AM
While I really didn't like their mixed blush compact, I really love their eye jelly. I've got three of these, and they all applies like a dream, spreads easily, gives incredible sparkles, has no harsh glitter in it. The glitter are very finely milled, on application it gives that pixie dust sparkle appearance, very very pretty. The very main reason why I gave it 5 lippy is because it does not crease!! And normally my eye shadow creases, so I sometimes use this as a base on days when I want a little understated sparkle but you can also use this on top if you want a lot of sparkles. The texture is also kinna like a gel and jelly very different from the cream eye shadows but in a very nice way and amazingly easy to spread and control.

Blush -Jill Stuart - Mix Blush Compact
since2009 10/22/2009 8:47:00 AM
I've got this in 06 fresh apricot. I first fall in love with this brand because of the very very pretty packaging, and I actually paid premium price for this; because this brand was not yet available where I live at the time and had to paid extra for someone to send it from Japan. Any way, I was disappointed from the very first application. The colour though looked bright in the pan, is actually very sheer when applied and very powdery and with way too much sheen in it. Thus if you over apply in trying to get more colour out of it you'd end up looking very shiny/greasy and still end up with very little pigment. It has a nice scent, the brush that came with it looks nice but is rubbish to blush application. Overall, it cost like 40% more than NARS' blush for what I had paid for it but it has only like 30% of NARS blushes' pigmentation. I really regret buying this, and would love to swap it just to get rid of it. Needless to say, there's no way I would be buying this again. Though to be fair, their jelly eyes cream eye shadows are really good, see my other review on these.

Toners -Elemis - Rehydrating Ginseng toner
since2009 9/8/2009 8:32:00 AM
I have used other Elemis products and loved them so I thought I'd try their toner and this fits my skin type. I gave it the worst rating because it came in a spray bottle which I loved for the convenience, but when you spray this bottle's nozzle does not spray evenly and then you'd likely to get some on your eyes. And it STINGS!!! (Yes I closed my eyes while I stray this all over my face and some got near and when I open my eyes they got in and it stings my eyes) So, I don't spray this on any more, and am really put off by the stinging so obviously would not be buying again. The stinging aside, this toner is just so so. No obvious fragrance and don't feel particularly hydrating after use.
