ok first off, this does not SMELL bad at all! maybe those of you who have found the smell offensive had an old tube. (and as one reviewer said, we as women tolerate a lot smellier things (perms, hair dye etc) 1. I find that this works as good if not better than I had hoped. 2. the price is not that bad compared to other products out there, or going to a facialist for a mini-peel or microdermabrasion...both of which I have had. It is probably an "average" product but so are most all other products out there when you get right down to it. Once I've used it for a few more weeks, I will update!

Cleansers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/24/2007 8:03:00 PM

I bought this because it was a recommended product in Paula's book. I honestly think its just average. I'm not sure why I think this! I had been using Dermalogica and thought it was doing a good job but Paula said that Dermalogica clay cleanser was "irritating" (even though my skin showed no signs of irritation!). SO, I switched over to this to give it a try. So far I don't see any difference in this and my dermalogica product which I guess means 1. dermalogica is overpriced or 2. Dermalogica does not irritate my skin. Either way, I need to use up my Dermalogica stuff. I don't know if I will repurchase the Aveeno or not. I'll use it for awhile and see if I still like it.

Foundations -Bourjois - Matt Lovely
rated 4 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/21/2007 8:50:00 PM

I got this as a sample from Sephora. I just grabbed it and put it on one day when I was in a hurry to leave the house. What a nice surprise to find a matte makeup that I could almost rub in like a lotion. It blended so well that I am considering purchasing full sized version. The color in the sample pack was not too "off" either. it was 23 beige and I could probably use something a little less pink but it was not too bad at all. The mattifying effect seemed to actually work. I think I covered it with my Prescriptives oil control powder.

I remember VERY vividly getting this product for Christmas when I was in the 6th grade!! It was a supersized and it was Dr Pepper and it had a color tint! I loved it! I would not buy it now because I'm too old but it sure was fun as a kid!!

Treatments -Biore - Pore Cleansing Strips - Nose
rated 3 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/21/2007 8:41:00 PM

These things really keep me entertained for at least 30 minutes!! I can pull out all kinds of crap from my pores ( I have BIG pores!). I think the trick is: put them on wet and without stretching them over the skin, pat them down to make sure they make good contact with your skin. THEN either wait for them to dry, or use a hairdryer to dry them faster(I think they work better when they airdry). I usually do my chin, forehead and nose all at once. If I get the strip on right and it dries completely, I can get lots of dirt out. also, don't just "rip" em off. you have to pull GENTLY. (I have pretty tough skin). The only downside to this product is: the grit and dirt is back the next day. So at best , the results of this product are very temporary.

Fragrances -Clinique - Happy

yikes! a very orange and lemon smell..lol..not exactly my kind of perfume. I'm not into citrus-ey scents. but if you like that kind of thing...it might be great. I bought a full bottle (had a gift card). I probably used 1/4 of the bottle before I gave it away.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
rated 2 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/21/2007 8:32:00 PM

I have used the several times in the past. to me, its just plain moisturizer...nothing special really. Honestly, I have oily skin and probably don't need to be moistrized all that much. It did not clog my pores or anything like that. I just didn't care for it one way or the other....like it was probably too expensive for what you get.

I have this and I really like it. It is balmy but not sticky or think. and it last a loooong time! I'm not sure that i like the little tin container...but that is beside the point.

Powder -Sheer Cover - Sheer Cover - Mineral Foundation
rated 1 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/16/2007 12:40:00 AM

horrible! for all the miracle stories I'd read about mineral foundation being the way to go, this was NOT the way to go for me. I did everything like the instructions said. used the cleanser and moisturizer. the powder went on nicely but after about an hour it seemed like it slid right into my pores and turned orange! its funny how one thing that works for one person does nothing for another person. I also hated the annoying "membership" deal where they send you a new shipment ever so many months. horrible. I cancelled as soon as I figured out that I was to receive a regular delivery of this stuff. I cancelled as soon as I received my 2nd shipment, but they still charged me and would not let me return it. I think I just threw it in the trash. horrible stuff lol

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Power Rich
rated 3 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/16/2007 12:31:00 AM

I really really like this product but it is just TOO expensive for the results. My facialist actually sold it to me one tube at a time (which was still $36 for 0.3 oz!!!) since the package itself with tax and all is almost $200 for 5 very small metal tubes. The complete package comes with a metal key (think sardine cans!) so that you can roll the metal tube up from the end as you use it so that you don't waste any (which is not a bad idea)> It made my face feel really good. It was a bit greasy but I put it on at night and it seemed to help. Something about it just felt "right"...except the huge price! oh well.

Treatments -Dermalogica - Oil Control Lotion
rated 2 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/16/2007 12:24:00 AM

big promise of oil control. I do not find it to control MY oil! LOL Don't know whose oil it does control. It seems to just make my face greasier and shiny. I did not notice any amount of oil production decrease. Has sunscreen which is a bonus. It seems to make my foundation harder to blend. I like my Biore pore reducer/oil contol lotion with SPF better. I would NOT buy this again.

Treatments (Eye) -Dermalogica - Total Eye Care
rated 1 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/16/2007 12:20:00 AM

blah. I got this as a free gift (which is why the "1" for price) when I had my first facial. I have used it off and on but just can't seem to get excited about it. It does have suncreen which is a plus. Not sure exactly what it is supposed to do actually. I like my Olay Dermpods much much better. The packaging here is good ( a small tube). I would not buy again.

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Lip Stain
rated 5 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/16/2007 12:05:00 AM

very cool product! This is a liquid lipstain by Revlon. Application can be a bit tricky with the roller ball applicator esp if you have smallish lips (not sure what the perfect applicator would be...maybe a smaller roller ball). That aside..I LOVE any kind of lip stain. it looks so natural and I am a natural kind of girl. Lipstick makes me look too "made-up". If you are the kind who likes a more polished look, maybe this would be perfect for a casual afternoon somewhere instead of what you would wear on a night out. To me this is a great find. Its been a long while since I've been able to find any kind of liquid lip stain. I think Prescriptives used to make a lipstain that was more of a balm. and many many years ago (like 15) Maybelline made one that they discontinued. It had a sponge applicator. It might be a little on the dryish side if you are used to more nourishing lip products however, a lip balm can be layered over it to take care of that. you could also layer on top of this a gloss or lipstick. Either way, it does "stain" well. Love love love it

Treatments (Eye) -Olay - Regenerist Eye Derma-Pod
rated 4 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/15/2007 11:50:00 PM

So far I really like these little things. Very convenient too. I noticed this morning that for once below my eyes was not dark or puffy. so I guess they did the job well :). I like and will repurchase esp since they seem to be travel friendly. yeah! Also, I noticed some complaints about the packaging. I think it probably is a bit "out there" but I know that Dermalogica used to use the same type of applicator for one of their resurfacing products. Maybe the sponge does serve a purpose. Plus the individual packages might help to preserve the product effectiveness.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
rated 4 of 5
silvertidegirl 6/14/2007 7:58:00 PM

I think this product works good for me. I think the trick is to apply a THIN layer only where you need it (pores). Be sure to let it dry for a few minutes, then apply your foundation in a patting motion. DO not rub the foundation around because it will cause the primer to flake up. The first time I used this, I found the flakiness a problem. After I discovered the best way for me to apply it, it seems to work better for me. I'm on my 2nd jar of it and have a 4th in the drawer. It would be nice if it came in a tube since the bottle/pump setup makes it impossible to get all of the stuff out of the bottle. I use a bent q-tip to get around the sides of the bottle. also, I have oily skin but I have not found that this makes my skin more/less oily, it just sort of smooths over my pores. I also have not found that it "eats" my makeup. but then again, I'm not one who feels I have to be "made up" all day long. I'm a housewife, so if it comes off during the day, it stays off. If I go out at night, it seems to stay in play fine.
