Today is my first day using Laura Mercier's mineral powder foundation and I can't wait to share how happy I am about this product. I've always been disgusted by the long list of ingredients in cosmetics - just imagine piling all those parabens and alcohol on your skin... eww. So I decided to go mineral and looked for the shortest list of ingredients on the market. And this foundation is so awesome: (1) you don't feel as if you're wearing makeup at all; (2) it looks very natural after you've put it on; (3) it lasts all day - no fading, no caking; (4) it is very good at oil control - my face didn't get shiny until after 12 hours. I wear this foundation with the Laura Mercier foundation primer beneath and they both work wonders. To top it off, I apply the Laura Mercier pink sparkle mineral powder blush on my cheeks. Love the natural look! And love knowing that the stuff on my face will not hurt my skin! My skin can breathe and I actually feel my acnes calmed down after one day. Definitely will elevate this to HG status.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Corrector

I LOVE LOVE this self-sufficient corrector. I use it with the Bobbi Brown concealer kit, but I always notice how the corrector almost works well alone. I was matched with the pinkish one so I guess the concealer is still needed to bring the color back to my normal beige tone. But the corrector is very good at neutralizing the dark circles. Excellent product!

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Concealer Kit (Reformulated & New packaging 2011)

I was skeptical about this product when I first bought it because I read all the reviews on MUA. I was planning on only getting the corrector but the sales person at BB convinced me to get this kit. And I do not regret my decision. I always put the corrector on first, which is already very effective at covering up my dark circles. Then, the concealer seals the deal. The corrector is more pinkish and neutralizes my dark circles. The concealer is lighter and blends into my skin easily. It hasn't creased for me, and I find the rich, creamy texture easy to spread. I am not sure whether the powder makes a difference, but I pat it on anyway. The concealer kit plus corrector covers up my dark circles completely and makes me look more awake. I am very satisfied with what the concealer kit does and thus highly recommend it.

It took me a lot of determination to buy this product because it is soooo expensive!!! But after using it for a month I can see why it is worth the price. The packaging is very convenient for carrying around. It is easy to apply - and I think this concealer is more for covering up pimples than dark circles fyi - and it looks very natural. You just need to rub a small amount on the pimple and pat it around gently so it blends in with your skin. This is a must-have makeup that I carry around all the time now. It hasn't caused any adverse skin reactions either. So definitely HG!

Liquid -Shu Uemura - Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation

This foundation is a perfect match to my skin tone (I use 774 light beige). It gives me a perfect, glossy finish that lasts about 4 - 5 hours. I do notice that the staying power isn't that strong, but it may be because I have been sweating under the sun. So far the foundation has not broken me out. And I am very satisfied with its texture and finish.

Eye Makeup Remover -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Using olive oil has been the only way I remove my makeup (since I started putting on makeup, which is like 5 years ago) and I highly recommend it to any girl who is having a war with her eyeliner, mascara or eye shadow every evening using cotton wipes infused with those costly makeup remover from any brands. I promise that with 3 drops of olive oil, your entire face will become spotlessly clean. Here are the steps: 1. Make sure your hands are dry. 2. Put 3 - 5 drops of olive oil on your fingertips and rub it over your makeup. 3. Rinse with water Now your makeup, no matter how dark or water-proof, should be gone (because organic compounds dissolve organic compounds). And the procedure should take no more than 5 seconds. Just follow up with your regular facial cleanser to clean your face completely. Have fun!

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Drugstore Rose water

I am so glad I found rose water! My acne cleared up very quickly after I started using rose water, and yet my skin remains supple, smooth, and radiant. I pour the rose water into a spray bottle from Muji and spray it onto my face 3 - 4 times a day. Rose water works like miracle water for a variety of functions: toner, moisturizer, face mist, body mist, etc. It is very cheap too - about $5 for 120mL at Watsons. I am amazed that such a cheap, organic solution outshines all the other expensive skincare brands I have used before e.g. Shu Uemura, Shiseido, Clarins, Clinique. Definitely HG!

I am sure witch hazel has its medical properties, but the pungent smell gave me a headache. I applied it on my face and eye bags but find it difficulty to breathe.

Cleansers -Clarins - Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed for Normal or Combination Skin

I can't rave enough about Clarins. It saved my skin. I travelled to New York on a 20-hour international flight and had terrible skin afterwards. I got the cleanser with cottonseed and it made my pimples disappear after three days! Even though I have been working for almost 100 hours a week for the past 2 months, my skin did not show any stress thanks to Clarins! Today I went back to the Store and bought a bag of their products. Definitely found my HG skincare line!

How did I not discover this product until recently? It is amazing! I am definitely switching from Skintimate to Aveeno from now on. It leaves the skin "positively smooth" for days! No nicks, no bumps, just silky skin.

Iced lotus looks gorgeous on fair or fair/medium skin. It is a very natural color, as my natural skin shows the same blush on a good day without makeup. But when you're trying to put on makeup when you're sleepy or tired on a busy day, iced lotus makes you look awake, lively and natural! It has good staying power on top of my makeup.

Lipstick -DHC - Moisture Care Lipstick

Best lipstick ever! It is the first long-lasting lipstick that I've tried which actually moisturizes my lips. I bought sugar plum which is a beautiful color. It's very close to the natural color of my lips but enhances the color and makes my lips look gorgeous. The lipstick's packaging is really cute and the lipstick itself is small and easy to carry around.

I got extreme pink, which is a gorgeous color on fair-skinned people. The color is long-lasting even after I wipe my mouth during eating/ drinking. My only complaint is its drying effect. A good solution is to apply ample amount of lip balm before wearing this lipstick.

Moisturizers -DHC - Water based moisture

Amazing Amazing! It's just like water and yet leaves the skin sufficiently hydrated. This product is truly the essence of Japanese skincare. I am also very impressed by the ingredients in this product: hyaluronic acid (used to cure dry eye condition in contact lenses by attracting and retaining water molecules), collagen, etc. This moisturizer is wonderful and good for both summers and winters!

Moisturizers -DHC - Olive Virgin Oil

This olive oil caused allergic reaction on my face the first three days. Small spots and redness appeared. My face turned so terribly red that I had to pause using it. When I decided to give the product another try a couple of days later, my face did not react negatively anymore, but I do not see any visible improvement either. Also, I feel that the moisturizing effect is fairly temporary.
