BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for Combination to Oily Skin - Light

I would NOT have purchased this if it weren't for the reviews, so I feel compelled to add mine even though my thoughts echo what is already here. I bought this when looking for a light coverage foundation that had a decent level of sunscreen that actually worked. A lot of my foundations w/SPF seemed to still allow rays through and that was not cool. This bb cream had sunscreen that really does block the sun's rays-YAY! The first few days I used this bb cream I did experience a few little blemishes. I decided to persevere in hopes it would stop and it DID! Thank goodness because I really do love this bb cream. Here's why: 1) it is extremely easy to apply. I use my fingers to rub and blend it in (quickly because it sets quickly) and then use a damp sponge to soften any poor blended spots, 2) it matches my fair skin tone very well, 3) it doesn't break me out, 4) it's cheap!, 5) stays put (and matte!) for hours 6) looks natural, my friends assumed I stopped wearing foundation when I suggested they try this bb cream, 7) removes easily at the end of my day, 8) tube is small enough for travel as per the TSA guidelines but not so small that I'm constantly running out. Thanks to all the other MUAers that wrote their reviews on this! It has made my makeup application routine faster and easier, something we all appreciate. I'll continue to buy this bb cream. I really do love it!

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Vanicream Lip Protectant SPF 30
rated 4 of 5
silkyskin 2/21/2013 2:15:00 PM

I agree with the reviewer before me, this definitely leaves a very noticeable white cast on the lips. A mirror for application (or a very honest and observant friend) is necessary. It does protect the lips beautifully from sun, and seems to moisturize and soften in the process. I have repurchased it and will continue to do so, unless I find something that protects as well without the white cast, which I haven't as of yet. This is a little hard to find, so I order mine off of amazon.

Cleansers -MyChelle - Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
silkyskin 2/16/2013 12:53:00 PM

Sorry to spoil the fun, but this cleanser did not work for me. I didn't mind the smell and the tingling wasn't painful, but in the end this seemed to cause me to break out and have clogged pores. My skin is very clog-prone, though. I liked the creamy consistency, the flip-top cap and easy to squeeze (and travel with) bottle.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup

I so wanted this to work. The coverage is pretty good, color match is spot on (I'm very fair but need a yellow base, Buff works perfectly) and there is a ton of product in the jar. However, every time I use this I end up with clogged pores. Little plugs all over my face, which happen to be especially bad in my breakout prone areas. Such a shame because it delivers such a polished look while on my skin. But I'm not interested in a catch 22: wear makeup that looks perfect while it clogs my pores so I HAVE to wear makeup to cover up my clogged pores. Such a waste of money. Boooo.

Scrubs -LUSH - Buffy the Backside Slayer

Overall, I'm quite happy with this. I love that it is in a solid form because I can take it with me if I go out of town. I also think that it makes it easier to use because I spot-treat with it where ever I want/need. The sand is very exfoliating, but I wouldn't say abrasive-feels great! Such a good compliment to the smooth cocoa/shea butter base which is very moisturizing and lasts for a few days. I bought the smaller bar for about $11, and have used it about a dozen times. Not very economical, but I do like not having lizard legs in the winter so I'd buy it again.

Eyeliner -Femme Couture - Gel Eyeliner in Black
rated 4 of 5

So far I'm loving it! It's not totally budge-proof, but pretty close. I love that it's so smooth and easy to apply (I use an angle brush). The color is a glossy, rich black. Doesn't hold up to extreme heat or lots of sweating, but for normal wear it's fantastic. And the price is right. A little goes a loong way.

Misc Beauty Tools -E.L.F. - Studio Makeup Mist & Set Spray
rated 4 of 5
silkyskin 11/25/2011 7:06:00 PM

This stuff cracks me up. Smells SO AWFUL, like vomit, but it works wonders. I bought it because my MAC Fix+ worked ok but was $$ and sometimes seemed to break me out. I knew about the smell going into it, so I wasn't unpleasantly surprised. After I'm done with my makeup, I mist this on my face and turn to a fan. Within 20 seconds it's dry and the smell is gone, leaving my face makeup looking perfect and lasting for hours. I'd give this the last coveted lippie if the scent was rectified. Either unscented or something other than the vomit fragrance would be fine with me. Though it works, so maybe we just leave it and live with it. Best $3 makeup product I've ever bought.

Mascara -Almay - One Coat Nourishing Mascara Triple Effect
rated 2 of 5

I mostly like this mascara. Mostly. Not enough to buy this again, unfortunately, and here's why: it really does not thicken, I NEED my Shiseido mascara primer before I apply this or it has no oomph, but most of all it smudges and gives me panda eyes. I have long lashes and after wearing this for a few hours I notice that there is always black on my brow bone right under my eyebrows. I can wipe it off easily with my fingertip, but then my shadow goes too. Not cool. Also, it seems to dry out pretty quickly. On the plus side it goes on smoothly and easily, doesn't flake or clump, stays put relatively well but comes off easily with mostly water and a bit of cleanser. Makes my lashes look lovely but I hate that it smudges. I'm going to end on a positive note: Almay doesn't test on animals and I love that. I've never seen an animal with makeup on, nor have I seen one carrying a makeup bag. Go Almay :)

Liquid -Almay - Smart Shade Makeup SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
silkyskin 5/14/2011 9:42:00 AM

I really liked most things about this foundation/tinted moisturizer. The major caveat being that it clogged my pores. In fairness, most foundations seem to do that so I'm not suggesting that this foundation is awful. It applied very easily, covered and blended well (more like a tinted moisturizer, by the way) and provided a matte finish that lasted a good chunk of the work day. It didn't have an overly oily feel or finish, nor was it too drying. I chose the medium shade since I use self-tanner on my upper body and it matched well enough. But the clogged pores I have after 5 days of use just aren't worth it. Maybe I'll revisit it again someday. Too bad because I liked everything else about it, especially that it's widely available and cheap. Figures.

Gels/Soaps -Auromére - tulsi neem soap
rated 5 of 5
silkyskin 2/8/2011 8:32:00 AM

Staple for sure. I bought this based on the reviews prior to mine, claiming that it helped mattify and it does!! For reference, I'm using and reviewing the sandlewood-tumeric variety. When I'm using this soap on a regular basis, my skin stays matte ALL DAY LONG, I'm not exaggerating. I've tried not using it, just to see, and when I discontinue using it, my skin isn't nearly as matte the following days. It's amazing. It doesn't remove make-up, so I use another cleanser to remove make-up, but I always finish using this soap. I let it sit on my face for about 10 seconds and make sure to rinse thoroughly. I don't care for the smell, but thankfully it fades after a few minutes of drying my skin. And for the mattifying effect, I can live with the smell, especially since it doesn't break me out (which seems to be a rarity for me). And it's only a dollar and change when I order it online from vitacost or swanson's. Best face soap/mattifying product ever. So glad I tried it!

Crème -Graftobian - High-Definition Glamour Color Creme Foundation
rated 4 of 5
silkyskin 1/3/2011 10:50:00 AM

I really really like this foundation. I can't wear it daily or it clogs my pores, though I have very clog-prone skin which is sensitive as well. I can't really wear a foundation daily without getting clogged pores. The coverage of this foundation is amazing. I took the advice of some reviewers here (and on youtube) and dotted the product onto my face with a concealer brush and used a damp sponge to pat/stipple/ dab the product into my skin. The result is flawless looking skin. I had a very red and angry looking zit and nothing was working to cover it. So I dotted this on and stippled it into my skin and VOILA-perfection. Other than a little bit of dry skin around the zit it looked completely perfect. I set the foundation with my ELF correction powder palette (which is also awesome, btw). I will continue to purchase this to have on hand for these occasions, or if I need to have a perfect looking face for a special occasion. I have the neutral #1 palette, and have found that the Primma Donna shade works seamlessly with my skin, which is usually a MAC NC20. I'm thankful to have stumbled on to this foundation (THANKS MUA!!!).

Lips -Palladio - Lip Ink Extra Long Wearing Lip Stain
rated 5 of 5
silkyskin 1/1/2011 7:04:00 PM

I have this in pinky and nude and I really LOVE it. So far I've only used it on my lips. I've had mine about 2 months and haven't had any problems with it drying out, though I make sure the cap is on securely and I keep it in my makeup bag so it's not out in the open. Anyway, the color of Pinky a bright pink so I just fill in my top lip and press my lips together. Perfect MLBB pink for a fresh looking, girlie face. The nude is just that, a more robust/nude MLBB, but if I really layer this on it becomes a stunning brick/nude color. Perfectly dramatic for my shade of skin and hair. Layer on a little lipgloss and you are good.to.go for hours. This is pretty cheap and there are 5 few colors to choose from, so I can change my look and still have lasting non-drying lipcolor. It's the best stain I've used and doesn't break the bank so I've bought it again and again.

Cleansers -Noxzema - Original Skin Cream
rated 2 of 5
silkyskin 10/25/2010 8:11:00 PM

Love/hate. Love the way it removes all of my makeup and sunscreen. Hate the way it tingles (intense), leaves a film, but ultimately it breaks me out. I notice that if I use it for a few nights consecutively, I end up with clogged pores. When I stop using it, the breakouts go away. No real brain-teaser here. It's just not for me.

Polishes -OPI - Dulce de Leche
rated 2 of 5
silkyskin 9/22/2010 8:26:00 AM

I wanted this for a long time, and was really disappointed once I did manage to get it. The color is sickly on my skin. I wanted it to look more taupe-y and neutral but it came off both dusty and orange-ish (somehow). The application sucked, too. Streaky and uneven, and two coats only emphasized a color that I thought was terrible. One coat could have been fine, color-wise, but the inconsistency in coverage was awful! Moving on.
