Liquid -Kanebo - Sensai Fluid Finish foundation
silasbrown 11/6/2012 1:18:00 PM
I have combination skin (oily in t-zone) and dry on cheeks and forehead. I have tried so many foundations (Sisley Paris, Dior, Avene, just to name a few) and none of them worked. Most made my skin oily or acne prone. Sensai is the best foundation that I have ever used. It goes on smooth and looks great all day. I can't believe that this foundation doesn't receive better/more press. Try it, it will make your skin look glowy and smooth!! Love!!

I have been wearing YSL Matte Foundation UNTIL I found out that they test on animals!!!!!!!!!!! I was on a quest for cruelty free foundation...I found it in this. Paula Dorf Oil Free Foundation in Parchment. I have super oily skin (like a teenager) and this is the only foundation that works for me. It looks just like my skin (only better) A perfect match for my yellow undertones. I love this and want to share with everyone---please buy cruelty-free products!! Paula Dorf is cruelty-free.

Lipstick -Trish McEvoy - Sheer Palm Beach
silasbrown 3/20/2009 3:15:00 PM
This is a lovely sheer peachy lipstick. It feels more like a gloss. I love how it looks against my fair yellow based skin. I highly recommend this lipstick, not only for the color but also the SPF 15. Nice!

Liquid -Trish McEvoy - Treatment Foundation
silasbrown 9/8/2008 11:24:00 AM
Wow, what beautiful, flawless coverage!! I was fortunate enough to have a Trsih McEvoy rep do a makeover on me and all I can say is wow!! She applied this foundation in creme all over my face with a foundation brush. She used a dime size amount and it made my skin glow for the first time in years!! I have fair skin with yellow undertones. Foundation usually looks too orange or pink on me, but this is lovely. It also helped to minimiz redness in my skin.

Powder -Clarins - Shine Stopper
silasbrown 7/15/2008 3:01:00 PM
I would not say this is the best mattifying powder, but its certainly not the worst. My gripes with this are that it has TALC, doesn't really mattify for very long, and it is too pink for my skin tone, and has a strong scent--sort of like a stale perfume. I also wish it had some SPF. Oh, and its expensive, too.

Treatments -Avene - Retrinal
silasbrown 7/15/2008 2:45:00 PM
I consider myself lucky to have found a great skin care clinic in my area. I noticed that they carried Avene products and I bought the Retrinal .05. I have finished the tube and can say that my skin looks better than it did 10 years ago. It helps with the prevention of fine lines and minimizes pores. I have always had oily skin in my t-zone, but I am dry around my cheeks and parts of my forehead. This has not caused me any trouble at all. Great stuff, I am moving on to the 0.1 next!!

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dandelion
silasbrown 7/15/2008 2:32:00 PM
This is not, I repeat not, for all skin tones. I tried it and it made me look like had high blood pressure. My face looked really pink and flushed in a not-so attractive way. I think peach-pink is more natural and flattering on me (NARS orgasm blush). I have fair skin with blonde hair and hazel eyes. I would not recommend this...

Primer/ Corrector -MAC - Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50
silasbrown 7/15/2008 12:32:00 PM
Clarins UV 40 used to be my go-to product for my daily under makeup sunscreen. I got frustrated with this product because I go through a bottle in about two and a half weeks and its $39 plus tax and it seemed to make me oily by noon! I decided to try MAC's Prime and Protect and I love it! It has a nice silky feel and acts more like a primer than a chalky sunscreen. My makeup has more staying power when I use this product. The best part, its SPF 50 and its $11 dollars cheaper than Clarins!! UPDATE: I get oily in my tzone by midday. I may have to find another high SPF primer...any suggestions?

Crème -Vincent Longo - Water Canvas
silasbrown 7/15/2008 9:31:00 AM
OMG! OMG! My skin has never looked so flawless! I bought this after reading the reviews on this. I must say that the reveiws about it drying up and breaking discouraged me, but I was so tired of cakey and masky makeup that I thought I would try it anyway. It is dewy and yet matte. It is most "skin-like" makeup I have used. It is worth the cost. They didn't have the travel compact at the store where I bought this, so to keep it froom drying out I put it in a plastic bag. Other foudations I have tried include: Chanel Mat Lumiere, Bare Minerals, Laura Mercier, Giorgio Armani, and none even come close to this stuff!! UPDATE: I like how this makeup looks more everyday. Amazing stuff. Great for oily/combination skin. Makes me look like I don't have makeup on at all, just great skin!! I looked at my skin in my rearview mirror and it looks like I have great skin, not made up or cakey. Every other makeup looks cakey on me because of my oily, acne prone skin. UPDATE #2: I now use a foundation brush with this and it works great. I honestly think a sheer application of this makeup is the most flattering. I would recommend a primer and then apply it with downward strokes and a foundation brush. This is absolutely stunning coverage. The best makeup I have ever used...worth every penny. I use the Creme Beige. It is a perfect color match. This makeup is pretty sheer so it isnt very hard to find a color match. I have yellow undertones with redness in my t-zone and this works perfectly!! UPDATE #3 This makes me oily in the hot humid weather. I am going to have to find a warm weather friendly makeup...Any suggestions?

Sunscreen -Clarins - UV PLUS Protective Day Screen SPF 40
silasbrown 7/9/2008 4:29:00 PM
PROS: nice, light texture that glides on your face. It works well under makeup and has white tea and 3P to fight free radicals. I like that it has SPF 40 and works better under makeup than any other sunscreen that I've tried. CONS: Expensive--$39 for 1 oz. Very small bottle. I think I go through a bottle every two and a half weeks. Clarins used to have a larger size. I am sad that they discontinued the larger size and am currently looking for a more economical sunscreen for daily use. UPDATE: I tried MAC's prime and protect and it wipes the floor with this stuff. It kept my skin matte and protected all day and is $11 dollars cheaper for a 1oz bottle. Goodbye Clarins...

Loose Powders -Bare Escentuals - Mineral Veil

BOOOOOO!!!!! This is definitely not for oily skin. It looks really cakey. It clogged my pores and caused breakouts. Actually, I had more blemishes than I ever had in my life when I wore this!! Worst of all, its expensive!! The worst, the worst, the worst....

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
silasbrown 7/9/2008 1:41:00 PM
HELLOOOO beautiful skin. For the first time in my adult life, I have beautiful skin thanks to the Clarisonic. I was VERY skeptical about this product. I mean, its a darn oversized toothbrush!! My aesthetician told me this would help my skin because I have oily, flaky, acne-prone skin. I didn't believe her at first, but I ended up shelling out the 200 smacks for it and giving it a try. I was worried it would cause more breakouts in the beginning, but it didn't. I did not experience any "purging" from the clarisonic. It has been wonderful from day one. I alternate between using the normal and delicate brushes. I used to get monthly microdermabrasions, but now I don't need to because of the Clarisonic. My pores are clear everyday!! I have oily skin that is also flaky--which usually means blemish central. I used to have to exfoliate daily with buf pufs, grainy scrubs, you name it, I have tried it. Since I purchased the clarisonic, no more cyst like blemishes, blackheads, or whiteheads. NONE! I used to keep vats of blemish creams and now I don't even need them! Amazing. If you have problem skin, I HIGHLY recommend this oversized toothbrush for your face!! It works!! EDIT: This product has not, I repeat has not, buffed away any fine lines or wrinkles, but it has keep my skin blemish and flake free since I began using it 6 months ago. Also, I recommend that you clean the brush with antibacterial soap in betwen uses. I have a friend who puts hers in the dishwasher once a week to thoroughly clean her brush.

Lip Gloss -Tarte - Double Dose lip gloss
silasbrown 7/9/2008 10:52:00 AM
After reading that most of my favorite lipsticks have LEAD in them, I went searching for a healthy option. I found Tarte Double Dose. I purchased the Pomegrante Punch. It is a nice pink rosy color. It also has a mint flavor. I guess I expected it to be pomegrante flavor, but the mint is nice. This gloss is a bit sticky, but it is really shiny. I have to reapply often, but at least I can take comfort in the idea of ingesting pomegrante and not lead.

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
silasbrown 7/8/2008 4:10:00 PM
I read so many good reviews about this TM, I had to try it. I have an oily t-zone, so I tried the oil-free version. I used the porcelain color which matches my skin quite well. I have yellow undertones with redness in my cheeks. I loved the color of this product, but I found it quite heavy and thick for a TM. Not only that, I am oily in my t-zone after a few hours of wear. I have to powder quite often when I wear this, so it looks cakey by the end of the day. I would not recommend this.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
silasbrown 5/15/2008 4:02:00 PM
I tried this after hearing all the hype. I was skeptical. However, I love this mascara. It makes me look like I have false eyelashes! I use a few coats on my top lashes only and it gives me a wide-eyed look. I have used Lancome, Clinique, Prescriptives, Stila and none compare to this Dior mascara. If I had to give a second choice, I would recommend Lancome Defincils. My only complaint is that Dior does flake/run if mixed with water, but I think they have a waterproof version. Love this!! I tried Iconic, and Diorshow kicks its butt!!! Iconic does curl my lashes, but does not give them the lush, thick look that Diorshow does...I am sticking with this one!!
