Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Nutra Nail - Gel Perfect UV Free Gel Color
shramlet 4/27/2012 6:16:00 PM
I tried this for the first time today. It is a 2-3 step process, with two products to apply and a brush cleaning step in between. It went on fine for a first attempt. I like the fact it was set in about 5 minutes. So much so, in fact, that within 20 minutes, I put on boxing gloves for a class and didn't get a single smudge or dent. It's adequately shiny and looks nice. READ THE DIRECTIONS. I am glad I did, because it takes some getting used to. PROS: Sets VERY quickly with no real "drying" time. No special equipment is needed (no UV). CONS: There aren't enough colors to suit me long-term (four at my drugstore). Also, it's very expensive for the small quantity of color you get ($15 at Walgreen's). I will try this again, though, and will post back about how long-wearing it is. Update: lowered to 2 stars. The polish cracked and chipped after just a couple of days. I tried supplementing with another coat, but that didn't help. I don't like the look enough, and there aren't enough color choices for me to buy this again. While I like how quickly it set, there are other quick-dry options I'd use instead, especially for the same apparent longevity. I will probably use the rest for a pedi, which may fare better.

Brows -E.L.F. - Eyebrow Treat & Tame
shramlet 2/22/2011 1:21:00 PM
For temporarily covering a little gray in my brows, this is great. Much better than a pencil or powder because of the precision and fact that it actually covers the gray. I don't use the treat side, but for the tame side, it's an unbeatable price over similar products.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - endless kissable shinewear
shramlet 2/20/2008 12:20:00 PM
I wanted to like this! It goes on well and I found a color I like. The color lasts, but...unfortunately, the Gloss Topcoat appears to slide down from my lips onto my chin over a couple of hours. I get this silicone-like film on the skin below my lip, which not only looks stupid, it feels really gross. I would also prefer to see the product in a single container so I don't have to fish around in my purse for both parts. Less product, less price and less silicone, or whatever it is.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
shramlet 9/7/2007 10:19:00 AM
These sheets show the oil lifted off my face, and they seem to work very well. The only reason I won't buy them again is that they are extremely expensive when compared with the blotting tissues from e.l.f. Cosmetics. I suspect the blotting tissues work as well.

Treatments (Eye) -DHC - Eye Bright
shramlet 7/25/2006 3:17:00 PM
This is a wonderful product for me. I do not have darkness under my eyes, but some puffiness in the morning. I have always had a problem with oily eye creams that will make my mascara run. By the end of the day I have raccoon eyes, even with waterproof mascara. Eye Bright gives me moisture but no extra oil. At night, I use a heavier moisturizing eye cream, and in the day Eye Bright relieves puffiness and gives me light moisture. After it dries, I lightly brush on Burt's Bees powder, which lightens my under eye area without needing to add heavy cover makeup.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder
shramlet 3/7/2006 1:41:00 PM
I like this very much! I've been using the Aromaleigh Voile for a few years now, but at less than half the price, this may be my new standard. The coverage is just right (I can layer it or not), and it makes my skin look very natural. The container doesn't put quite enough powder in the top because the lid is too close to the shaker holes, and I agree that I'd like a brush with a handle and broader bristles for better overall coverage. But I do like the brush with it for "buffing" this on as a light foundation.

Liquid -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Mineral Foundation
shramlet 3/7/2006 1:38:00 PM
The color and finish are natural (I bought this in Ivory). However, like many of the reviewers, it was extremely drying, even with moisturizer underneath. I probably won't buy this again, but if I had severely oily skin, it might be worth a try. I think I'll stick with the powders.

Eye Shadow -Rimmel - Eye Shine
shramlet 5/4/2005 9:55:00 AM
I found this at a surplus store, so I'm guessing it's been discontinued. I haven't had any creasing problem, and it seems to moisturize my lids. I bought three subtle shades, and the gloss and shine is a really nice effect on my eyes. I'm sad I haven't yet found this in my local stores.

Foundations -Aromaleigh - Pure Powder [DISCONTINUED]

This works very well on my combination skin for a lighter-coverage foundation. I don't need a lot of coverage, just some cover of ruddiness and occasional blemishes. I do not use these products for under-eye, however. I can layer it if I need more coverage. It blends well and I like the color selections better than other mineral foundations I've found. Being fair with olive / yellow tones, I have a hard time matching my skin tone, and I've been able to get a good combination with 2W and 2L in this line.

Hair Color -Revlon - Frost & Glow Highlighting Kit
shramlet 7/22/2004 10:03:00 AM
I have to admit that I'm surprised by this product. I quit coloring my fine, medium brown hair years ago because it turned red, no matter what I did, and I wasn't willing to pay for salon coloring. After reading the reviews here, I bought the (med-dark brown) kit for US $10, and did my own highlights at home. Wow. For a first-timer, it was pretty foolproof! As long as you read the directions and do the color test, it works as designed. I only left it on for about 12 minutes, and I ended up with sort of honey-caramel highlights, without a bit of red. Time will tell how it grows out, and how it looks on a second application. It does take a LONG time to prep, pulling out the strands. It's also nice if you have a good friend (a very good friend who won't laugh at you wearing the ridiculous-looking cap) pull out the strands in the back. One bit of advice: the directions tell you to comb and remove all tangles from your hair before you begin. Do this. It makes life much easier. An update to this. I quit using it because I couldn't control the highlights (not being able to see under the cap), and after three times, my hair just got lighter and lighter. I think a comb-in would provide more control.

Treatments (Eye) -Clean & Clear - Under Eye Brightening Stick
shramlet 6/4/2004 3:06:00 PM
I don't feel as badly about this product as most everyone else, but I don't love it, either. I don't have obvious dark circles, but I use this on weekends when I don't want to put on makeup or concealer, and I just want to freshen up the natural look of my skin a bit. It is cooling and the shimmer looks natural and better than no makeup. However, for the price, I probably won't buy it again.

Loose Powders -Sally Hansen - Sally Hansen/Cornsilk Healthy Beauty mattifying powder [DISCONTINUED]
shramlet 6/2/2004 11:41:00 AM
I've been using this for years and always regret straying. With fair combo skin, the translucent no color is always perfect. It keeps my skin somewhat matte without looking cakey. I can apply it close to the eye to set eyeliner without worrying about getting granules of powder in my eyes.
