Treatments (Eye) -Jurlique - Purely Age-Defying Eye Cream
rated 2 of 5

This eye cream actually dried up my already dehydrated undereye area! Initially, when I applied it, the skin felt soft and moist. However, within half an hour, it became so dry, the skin started feeling tight and stretched and the fine lines became even more pronounced. I thought that my skin just needed more moisture and I put on some more cream but again the same thing happened. I used it daily for 15 days but my undereye area just got worse...and terribly dry! I must say though that the packaging of this product is really nice. The double cap and the tiny nozzle ensure that there is no wastage of the product. The tube size is great for travelling too. This product seemed promising but unfortunately didn't work for me.

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Drying Cream

This is in no way an overnight miracle product...but it does work slow miracles on acne. My skin was behaving so bad, breaking out all over for no reason so during my trip to Singapore, I picked this up from Sephora. I balked at the price but then, the SA said this would really help my skin. I trusted her and am glad I bought this. Slowly but surely, it dried up all my pimples and when I would apply it to an emerging bump, it ensured that the pimple didn't become a huge red cystic one. It can't be called concealing coz the colour is quite chalky and difficult to blend into my tan skin. So I only used it at night. And anyway, you just need a really tiny amount. The price is quite high, but when you see how much product you get and how little you require per application, it is quite good value for money. The only thing I really dislike is that it comes in a jar. Not very hygenic especially for an acne treatment. Wish it came in a tube! I would certainly repurchase if I needed to. But I doubt it coz the jar is still almost full.

Moisturizers -Clarins - Multi Active Night Cream
rated 5 of 5
shopaholic14 8/14/2012 6:46:00 AM

I got a sample of this when I bought some Clarins stuff. I was sceptical about trying this out coz the Multi Active Jour makes my face look like a shiny disco ball. But then its a night cream so who cares if the face is shiny. And what a wonderful cream it has turned out to be...it's a white cream, not too thick, delicately fragranced (love the smell), and simply melts into the skin. It isn't greasy and surprisingly, didn't make my face shiny either. It is absorbed in an instant and skin feels smooth and hydrated. The next morning, my face looked so fresh and radiant, as though I had got 8hrs of sleep (I had slept for less than 6hrs). It had plumped up my skin a bit too. I still have a bit of sample left but I've already bought the full sized product coz it's so wonderful.

Conditioner -The Body Shop - Rainforest Moisture Conditioner
rated 2 of 5
shopaholic14 8/14/2012 2:04:00 AM

TBS Honey conditioner used to be my fave. And then it got discontinued. The SA said that this was a better version of that conditioner coz it didn't have parabens and sulfates. After using it, I feel that it doesn't have any great conditioning properties either! The day I use this, my hair feels nice but the very next day, they start feeling greasy and lanky. The bottle doesn't make sense either coz the conditioner sinks to the bottom and it takes a lot of effort to get it out. I would have preferred a tube instead. Will search for another conditioner. Don't want to use this again.

Moisturizers -Lancome - Absolue Premium Bx Cream
rated 4 of 5
shopaholic14 8/13/2012 11:47:00 PM

What a wonderful product!!! I got this in a GWP and didn't try it for quite some time as I thought it is for more mature, dry skin. Then curiosity got better of me and I tried it out. It is a very thick white cream but is not greasy at all. It gets absorbed so quickly into the skin and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth. A little bit is enough for the entire face. It seemed to give my face a glowy/dewy look (not oily shiny). I used this under my eyes too and it didn't sting or irritate my eyes. It moisturised the skin there well but its too early to say if it has had any effect on my fine lines. This cream has a lovely fragrance...in fact I like my skincare products to smell nice. And though I'm combination skin, this cream seems to work for me. The sample size is probably going to last me a couple of months so I need to save up to buy the full sized product when it runs out. One lippie off coz I wish it came with higher spf...15 is nothing really, should have a minimum of 30.

Treatments (Eye) -Neutrogena - Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Deep Wrinkle Eye Cream
rated 3 of 5
shopaholic14 8/13/2012 11:25:00 PM

An absolutely average product! Makes tall claims but doesn't live up to them. The texture is quite nice, non greasy and easily absorbed. It does moisturise the under eye skin but despite being a "Deep Wrinkle eye cream" it doesn't have any effect on fine lines! Neither have I noticed any improvement in my dark circles or puffiness. I like the fact that it comes in a tube instead of a jar. Besides being hygenic, it is also easy to control the amount of cream you squeeze out (and you really don't need much). I have only used this for about 3 weeks and will finish up this tube but if I still don't see any improvement, I won't repurchase.

Shampoo -The Body Shop - Rainforest Moisture Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
shopaholic14 8/13/2012 10:36:00 PM

This is quite an average shampoo. For the price, I expected something much better. The name says Rainforest Moisture but it has done nothing for my dry hair. It is just not moisturising, perhaps salicylic acid has something to do with that coz isn't that supposed to be drying? Also the shampoo doesn't lather well and I need really lots to get my hair clean (and I don't use styling products). I wouldn't really want to repurchase this but my hubby is quite satisfied with this shampoo (he has normal hair) so I guess will buy for him.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Spa Wisdom Polynesia Monoi Miracle Oil
rated 2 of 5
shopaholic14 8/13/2012 1:42:00 PM

I don't know what is so Miraculous about this oil. The SA convinced me to buy this saying it was comparable to argan oil and I bought it without reading the ingredients list. It's just a blend of almond, coconut and sesame oil with jasmine fragrance. And here, in India, I can buy all three oils (get pure oil extracted right in front of my eyes from the finest quality coconuts, almonds and sesame seeds) at a fraction of what this Monoi oil retails for here! Now that I've bought it, I will use it up (as an overnight treatment) but once the bottle's over I'll go back to my preferred combination of coconut and castor oils which, IMHO really nourish and soften and hydrate the scalp and hair.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Liquid Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Formula
rated 5 of 5
shopaholic14 8/12/2012 7:03:00 AM

This is a wonderful cleanser, really well suited to my combination skin coz it cleans my skin without drying it out. Doest leave a greasy film on my face either. In fact, my face feels quite normal after washing with this, the T zone is not oily and the cheeks aren't dry. It has a thick gel texture which lathers quite well and removes light make up quite well. (TM/sunscreen/powder/blush etc...not eye makeup). My face feels clean and fresh and I don't really feel the need for a toner most of the time. Overall, quite an effective and affordable cleanser. I'm already on my second bottle and would recommend it for combination skin.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash
rated 1 of 5
shopaholic14 8/12/2012 4:40:00 AM

Possibly the worst cleanser I have ever used! I was looking for a cleanser to help me with my randon acne break outs and thought this would be good. It aggravated my acne and I had breakouts all over my face! It also dried up my skin so bad and left it feeling tight and stretched out. I only used this for about 10 days and have an almost full bottle left.

Treatments -L'Occitane - Aromachologie Repairing Mask
rated 2 of 5
shopaholic14 8/11/2012 2:22:00 PM

I have really dry, rough, wavy and terribly frizzy hair. The hot, humid weather where I live makes it worse. I read all these wonderful reviews for this mask and got a sample of it when I bought the shea butter. I was so excited to see how soft and smooth and shiny this mask made my hair...but I just ended up disappointed. It did make my hair a bit softer, but it was still dull, no shine, and still frizzy. Why didn't it work for me? I shampooed, left it on for the recommended 15 minutes and rinsed it out. And not just once. I had got two sample sachets and dissapointing results both times I used it. I wish it would have worked for me. But I'm glad at least I didn't spend so much money and buy it...that would have truly been money down the drain for me.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Chrome shine in Sepia Sparkle
rated 5 of 5
shopaholic14 8/11/2012 12:21:00 PM

UPDATE: this is really very, and I mean VERY sparkly...and I mean that in a good way. But I guess it wouldn't be suitable for day/office wear. Its lovely for evening wear, makes my eyes look absolutely gorgeous. It can also be used as a layering colour with other matte colours to give a shimmery colour. So maybe I don't really need to buy more shades in this coz this will help me transform my existing shadows. But I'll surely buy this again when I hit the pan. This is such a beautiful, shimmery eyeshadow, i'm surprised that mine is the first review here. It is a gorgeous, gorgeous champagne gold colour which im sure would look good on all skin tones. It has lots of micro fine silver and gold shimmers which really sparkle when the light hits it. The pigmentation is also very good and just one swipe deposits quite a bit of colour. The texture is smooth and creamy and i love wearing this shadow coz it instantly feels glam. Why arent more colours in this range available in India? There's just this one and a grayish black available at the four stores i went to. With such a fantastic product at such a good price, L'Oreal should put out more shades in this collection. Cant wait to purchase more colours in this.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
rated 2 of 5
shopaholic14 8/11/2012 9:17:00 AM

I just don't understand the hype around this moisturiser. It is just a very average product. It doesn't even get absorbed into the skin, when I wash my face, I can feel it. However one thing I don't understand is why this makes my skin darker. I used this for over 2 months and it darkened my skin though I wore sunscreen over it. And not just me, this happened with my mom and sister-in-law as well. The DDML also had the same effect. I don't know why this happened but I'm surely not buying this or DDML again. There's no return policy here so I'm just going to throw away what I have left.

Loose Powders -Clinique - Blended Face Powder and Brush
rated 4 of 5
shopaholic14 8/10/2012 1:32:00 PM

I bought this powder because my friend had recommended it. It is quite sheer and is good for setting any foundation. It also gives a matte look and keeps my face oil free for a couple of hours. Though it is expensive, you really do get good quantity. I have this in transparency 3. Two things that I really hate about it are the brush and the packaging. The brush is absolutely rubbish, it is too small, the bristles aren't very soft and it sheds all over my clothes!!! And the shedding started right from the first usage. The packaging too could be improved. You have to really take care not to tilt the box or turn it upside down otherwise when you open it, you get loads of powder all over your hands and clothes. And because of this very reason, you can't travel with it. I don't think I would repurchase this coz I still have more than half the box left. And by the time it gets used up, I'm sure I will get bored with it and would want to buy something else.
