Toners -Alba Botanica - Hawaiian Hibiscus Facial Toner
shiroihikaru 12/10/2012 10:20:00 PM
I previously used Thayers as my toner and thought it was pretty good. But I bought this toner on a whim because it was 75% off at CVS last year. I didn't try the product until a few months ago and this has changed and saved my skin! I used to have cystic acne on my jawline and after using this it has cleared up substantially. The first few times after using this toner, it had a slight burning sensation, but I think I got used to it, so I don't feel that sensation anymore. After each swipe, I can see the dirt and residue built up on my skin and this toner attracts everything off! This is my HG toner now and will repurchase at full price. It is a pricey toner for drugstore, but I think it is well worth it!

Cleansers -Keys - Island RX foaming wash
shiroihikaru 8/16/2012 3:22:00 AM
I'm on my second bottle of this very simple cleanser. It's environmentally friendly and healthy for your skin without all the harsh chemicals. I love the light foam and it cleans makeup off 98% of the time. The 24 hr eyeshadows or anything similar, I think you will need to take off with eye makeup remover. I love how it doesn't strip your face dry and with acne prone skin, this cleanser doesn't add to the cause. Some down side are the price ($16 USD) and can cause some mild stinging. Try to make sure you don't get this stuff in your eyes, because it will sting due to a citrus ingredient. Otherwise, great HG cleanser!

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Infallible Eyeshadow in 408 Gleaming Bronze
shiroihikaru 8/16/2012 2:58:00 AM
I got this at a drugstore when I saw the display on the counters. In the US this color is LE. I own several of the Infallible e/s and this has become one of my favorites pretty fast! I love the texture because it spreads better. If you're looking for a warm toned bronze, this is more of a cool toned bronze or more of an antiqued gold. Definitely a unique color in the drugstore field. I hope they will bring this to the permanent line though..

BB Cream -Ishizawa Labs - Nanoce BB Moist Cream
shiroihikaru 8/16/2012 2:31:00 AM
FINALLY a bb cream that matches me! I've tried all the major brands from Korea and find that their color match lacking. They were too gray and neautral. So I heard that Japanese bb creams might be better since they are yellower in general which is a great match for my yellow toned skin. I use no.2 healthy ocre. This bb cream is a little thicker in consistency but still spreads like butter and dries semi matte. Great finish for winter, but it might run during the summer. I do have very oily skin so the staying power of this isn't great during the summer. This is harder to find, and costs about $25-26 in little Japanese stores. You might have better luck finding it cheaper online. But I think it's well worth it since it's the only bb cream that suits my skin pretty well.

Treatments (Eye) -Zirh - Restore
shiroihikaru 12/11/2010 5:37:00 AM
I bought this product based on the reviews here on MUA. THANKS! Even though this product is geared towards men, but I think it works well on either gender. I bought this product to do something towards my puffy eyes that wouldn't go away. One eye has more puff than the other and this product almost did the trick. I still see a bit puffiness, but it is significantly reduced. It has a nice smooth gel consistency going on and moisturizes alright. Definitely not greasy at all. I didn't experience any tingling sensation like other reviewers posted. I didn't give this product a 5 lippies because of the packaging. Although it comes in a generous size, but the opening can be a bit narrower because when I squeeze a bit too much comes out. But this is definitely a keeper!

Gels/Soaps -Shi Kai - Moisturizing Shower Gel
shiroihikaru 5/1/2008 4:01:00 AM
I bought this when I realized that the dove/olay body wash made my skin dry and I started chafing. I needed a body wash that retained moisture and after reading the reviews of this body wash on MUA, I gave it a try. I bought my first one from TJ since it was cheap. I couldn't believe how well it lathered and the smell of cucumber melon was great! I also love how it rinses clean and doesn't leave a film over my skin like the major brands. Even during the winter months, this had kept the moisture in my skin with the supplement of a light lotion. During the summer months, I didn't need the lotion. I been hooked on it since then and never looked back. I just wished TJ carried more variety. I noticed that they only carried cucumber melon. I bought a gardenia from WF and I loved that smell too. I just wish the fragrance retained a bit longer so it would linger on my body.

Cleansers -Basis - So Refreshing Cloths
shiroihikaru 5/1/2008 3:22:00 AM
These are great little cloths for people on the go. They are individually packaged so you can take it to the gym or to clean your face on those really dirty hot days. I usually use it when I'm too lazy to wash my face at the end of the day. It does a good job to get out the dirt and some of the makeup. When I wake up the next day I don't get any breakouts from using this. Another plus is the nice smell! A great buy!

Sunscreen -Zia - AgeDefying Solar Care Face SPF 30 Oil-Free
shiroihikaru 5/1/2008 3:13:00 AM
I've had this sunscreen for more than a year and it does a good job as a face sunscreen. I bought this after reading the reviews on MUA. The only place I found this sunscreen is through WholeFoods, but recently I haven't been able to find it in their store. Luckily, the customer service told me I can make a special order without extra cost! I love WF! What attracted me to this sunscreen is the light weight feeling. I can't feel or smell I put the sunscreen on. I agree with some of the users in that when applying it, it feels greasy, but then it dries into a sort of powdery feel. I think that powdery feel keeps my oily face at bay with the exception when it's a really hot day. Although there are other sunscreens with a light weight feel, I prefer using something more natural than chemically induced sunscreen that gets asorbed into my skin everyday. Another great thing about this sunscreen is that it complements the mineral makeup I use. A great base that lasts all day!

Lotions/ Creams -Aveda - Foot Relief
shiroihikaru 5/1/2008 3:03:00 AM
I got a sample of this, when I bought something else from Aveda. I never really had a dry foot problem until recently and thought I gave this a try when I saw it sitting around. It really works to get the dryness out and it smooths my feet! The smell isn't my cup of tea, but I can bear with it. I'll come back to this when the sample bottle runs out.

Toners -Thayers - Rose Petal Alcohol Free Witch Hazel
shiroihikaru 5/1/2008 2:56:00 AM
This is my HG toner! It does a great job of removing any dirt left behind as well as replenishing moisture and smooths out the skin after a wash! Since it's alcohol free and natural ingredients, it's gentle on the skin. I've never gotten problems from this toner even during the times that I do break out. Although I'm not fond of the smell, but I'll overlook the minor detail since it does a great job!

Moisturizers -Olay - Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid - Original
shiroihikaru 5/1/2008 2:46:00 AM
I've had this moisturizer for over a year and it works great! I use it mostly during the warmer seasons since my face gets oily easily, but this moisturizer is light and absorbs great! The moisturizer is gentle even when I break out, it doesn't add to the break out. I do share the same concerns about smell.. it smells like baby oil. Not the most unpleasant, but not the best either. I also don't like the bottle it comes packaged with. If I squeeze out too much, you can't put it back in. Even though they redesigned the outer box, they did nothing about the bottle. But all in all, it's about the content and it works well with my oily and break out skin.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - MegaEyes Creme Eyeshadow - #196 Champagne Toast
shiroihikaru 5/23/2007 1:41:00 AM
This is a great everyday natural/nude color eyeshadow. I have a lightly tanned Asian skin and the lightness of this shadow enhances my eyes. Although it is a little shimmery, it's not too drastic on me. I wish their tube features a pointy more precise opening as it leaves a crust around the opening when it dries out. But that is just a small gripe compared to the value and the great color of this nude eye shadow.

Treatments -Desert Essence - Dessert Essence Blemish Touch Stick
shiroihikaru 1/18/2007 12:16:00 AM
I bought this when I saw it at Trader Joes and thought I should give it a try since most of the MUA reviews were positive. When I put on the product it was a cool stingy sensation and thought this would work. However, it just made my zits redder and even larger than they first appeared! Guess I'll be searching around for other zit treatments...

Treatments (Eye) -Ponds - Age Defeye
shiroihikaru 1/18/2007 12:04:00 AM
I bought this product based on the reviews here on MUA. I've tried this product for more than two months. However, this product didn't do what I needed to do: reduce puffy eyes, minimize fine lines, and lighten the dark circles. I only put it on at night because when I put it on during the day it made my eyes more tired than it really is. I'm not sure what was the reason. It definitely wasn't because it dried out my eyes because it was a nice eye moisturizer. I did think the packaging is very nice and sanitary. However, this product just didn't cut it for me so I will not repurchase.

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Sodium PCA Oil Free Moisturizer
shiroihikaru 9/28/2006 2:25:00 AM
Another average moisturizer for me that only works during the winter months. It's too much to use for the summer days. Even though I use it during the winter, there's not enough moisture in the cream so I have to use it in conjunction with another moisturizer. I also don't like the fact that this comes in a tub.
