Hair -Bumble & Bumble - Hair Powder
shinyshoe 3/23/2007 10:58:00 AM
This works great when I need some volume for a night out. It does not work that great when I want to keep a blow-out. I used to use the Klorane Dry Shampoo, but it's a little hard to get a hold of. So, while out one day I picked this up. It does not do the same thing. Klorane has a nice scent and keeps my hair feeling clean the whole time. While B&B does not have much of a scent, it kind of coats my hair and my hair feels dirty. Sometimes it makes my scalp itch a little and when I touch my scalp, my hands get kinda brown...really don't like that. It's great for up-dos, however. So, at the end of the day, I'll keep getting it if I need the volume for a night. However, I'm going back to my Klorane to keep the grease away. I can order it online relatively easily (although I think oz for oz it's slightly more expensive).

Lips -Eyeko - Strawberry Fat Balm
shinyshoe 3/22/2007 5:00:00 PM
This is adorable and I really like the smell. However, the color just didn't work on me. I'm not sure what it is (skin tone, natural lip color, etc.), but it just looks really drab and dark on my lips. I use it at home during the weekend to use it up, but I won't get it again. If the color worked for me, however, I would totally love it because it smells really good. =)

Lotions/ Creams -Kiehls - Creme de Corps
shinyshoe 8/27/2006 2:40:00 PM
I didn't actually buy this product, so you may want to take my comments with a grain of salt. However, I was looking for a good body lotion one day and put this Creme de Corps on one hand and Bliss Lab's Body Butter on the other hand and walked around the store for about 30 minutes. At the end, I had to buy Bliss' Body Butter because it was way more moisterizing. I found that Creme de Corps (along w/smelling too weird for me) was hard to spread, was really shiny, and ascentuated the wrinkles on my hand. It also did not moisterize my hand enough and I know my calves (where I really needed a good lotion) are much drier. The Body Butter (on the other hand..haha), did none of those things. So, I purchased the Body Butter and never looked back.

Lotions/ Creams -Bliss Labs - Plum Plum body butter
shinyshoe 8/27/2006 2:32:00 PM
Personally, I loved the smell of this. It smells a little bubble-gummy/childish, but sometimes I just want to smell like that. I could sit there and smell it all day...but I do understand that the scent is not for everyone. As a lotion, it is fantastic. I have very dry calves and this completely wiped out that problem. When I first bought this, I went to a store, put the Kiehl's super duper lotion on one hand (I don't remember the name of it) and this plum body butter on the other hand. Then I walked around the store for about 30 minutes. This plum body butter won by far...I totally loved it. The Kiehls was way to slimey for me and didn't hydrate as well as the body butter. It was also more difficult to spread. My friends always like to use this when they come visit me as well. I'll definitely repurchase over and over again!

Crème -Clinique - superbalanced compact [DISCONTINUED]
shinyshoe 4/22/2005 1:54:00 PM
I am normally VERY wary of Clinique products...They're normally very hit or miss...and mostly misses for me. However, I have never been loyal to any foundation..but found myself actually finishing this one off. I also use it with a wet sponge and it goes on very sheer for me that way...but enough to easily cover my dark circles and scars with two swipes. I am definitely getting the refill and perhaps even a couple of more compacts to have around. I have very combo skin (very oily t-zone, flaky cheeks and tip of nose..weird) and it's slightly acne-prone. This has not made me break out (like the clinique cleansers have). Anyway...love this...definitely worth trying!

Fragrances -Jean Patou - EnJoy

I NEVER wear floral perfumes (I'm a strictly vanilla and fruit person), but I love this. I absolutely hated Joy, but loved this. It makes me feel feminine, but not too girly or dated. After buying a sample, I bought a bottle from Ebay and I think it will be my classic forever.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
shinyshoe 8/9/2004 12:22:00 AM
I soooo wanted to love this (I normally like neutrogena stuff), but this made me break out like crazy. I'm not sure why this is...but I tried it for several weeks and have totally given up on it! I also tried the similar tinted moisterizer to similar results. Argh.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Clear Pore Cleanser Mask
shinyshoe 8/9/2004 12:18:00 AM
I have been using this for 2 years...after years of clinique, chanel and other expensive cleansers for my acne-prone, combo skin, I have finally found my HG!!! I got 5 people addicted to it and I love it lots. The benzyl peroxide bleaches my towels, but it's sooooo worth it! It's cool to the touch, has a fantastic non-irritating/annoying scent and helped my breakouts twenty fold. (don't ask how i calculated that)

This did absolutely nothing for me. I used it for several weeks and saw no difference. I think I also broke out a little more often than normal. Ech..never again.

Hair -Dove - Extra Volume Shampoo & Conditioner
shinyshoe 8/8/2004 11:34:00 PM
I love this. It might not be for everyone (I have pretty fine, fuzzy hair, but a LOT of it.), but after using it for a while I went out and bought the biggest bottle my grocery store carries. I took off 1 lippie because I would like a pump for my huge bottle. Instead, I have to transfer everything to smaller bottles.

Hair -Klorane - Dry shampoo
shinyshoe 8/8/2004 11:30:00 PM
Wierd, but my version was a spray. Perhaps mine was a different one, but I think it's the same. Anyway, I think it works great when once in a blue moon I didn't happen to wash my hair and need to look presentable. Thanks Klorane!

Hair -L'Oreal - Preference True Brunettes
shinyshoe 8/8/2004 11:15:00 PM
I'm really surprised to see so many bad reviews. I'm asian (jet black hair) and have dyed my hair dark/medium brown for years. My hairstylist moved and gone goes my color formula. Anyway, after about a year of self-dying, I came across preference for true brunettes shade LC51. I thought it turned out pretty okay, but since I did it, three or four people (including my very picky mother) have noticed and complimented the color. Maybe it's not the same for everyone, but since I've gotten such a positive response, I'm never letting this go. I have already used it twice (about 4-5 months) and am planning on stocking up. I'm thinking about getting some highlights over it, but I'm definitely pleased and sticking with the color.

Primer/ Corrector -Bourjois - Et Mat Anti-shine Oil Control Stick
shinyshoe 8/8/2004 7:15:00 PM
It worked okay on me but the scent is really overbearing. It's very floral and you have to be prepared to smell it all day. ech. Otherwise, it's okay. It's better in the stick form than the p.t. roth kind.

Fragrances -Demeter - Fuzzy Navel
shinyshoe 8/8/2004 6:47:00 PM
It wears off in minutes, but it's soooooo worth it. With stronger perfumes, I sometimes get sick of the scent by the afternoon, I can never get sick of this scent. Okay, it doesn't really smell like a fuzzy navel, but it's a very nice peachy/orangey smell. Anyway, I love it!

Foundations -Agnes B. - Nudity Barely There Foundation Gel
shinyshoe 6/2/2003 2:59:00 AM
I got this as a free sample with a catalog. Like it is described, it does sink quickly into a barely-there second skin. However, as a foundation, it doesn't really do much. My sample was about 3 shades too dark for my skin, but I get the idea. I put it on my arm and it wasn't able to diminish in any way my light freckles. It didn't even help a little bit. All it did was tint my skin, which isn't really necessary because I don't have a problem with the color of my skin. It might work really well as a bronzer if you use a darker color, though.
