Lipstick -MAC - Half-N-Half
rated 5 of 5
shiaobundan 12/20/2011 11:23:00 PM

This is a great slightly darker-than-nude lipstick for an NC30. I wanted something like Velvet Teddy (which I do love) but a little creamier, less gray-toned and less drying. After buying, and never using, Honey Love an SA directed me towards this paired with Spiced lip pencil. I love it! My go to nude was always Velvet Teddy with Cork lip pencil, but Cork and Half N Half or Spiced and Half N Half are just as good.

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
rated 5 of 5
shiaobundan 3/3/2011 5:30:00 PM

Best foundation I've ever used. It is medium to full coverage, but doesn't cake up or look like i'm wearing foundation at all. A lot of foundatinos claim this, but this is the only one I think is true. Also, it really does stay MATTE all day and it just looks like my skin. Doesn't get oily or bunch up in my pores. It feels completely weightless and all foundations claim this, but this one really delivers. My first MUFE foundation, and now i'm itching to try the others. Other foundations I've used and think are inferior to Mat Velvet + include: MAC Studio Sculpt, MAC Face and Body, Clinique Almost Makeup, Stila One Step, Revlon Colorstay, Rimmel (all of them), Benefit cream stick, Lorac oil-free (LORAC may be the only one that feels nearly as weightless as MUFE).

Polishes -China Glaze - Crackle Glaze - Black Mesh
rated 5 of 5
shiaobundan 3/1/2011 3:15:00 AM

I bought the entire set of crackle glazes, and this is the only one that is a must have. The formula is the best and the shatters/crackles form beautifully. No issues with noncracking.

Liquid -Rimmel - Renew & Lift SPF 15
rated 1 of 5
shiaobundan 11/23/2010 1:45:00 AM

Dislike. I saw it on sale and went for it. For a liquid foundation, this has NO coverage and is the texture of a tinted moisturizer. Not what I am looking for. It is a "dewy" finish, but because it is so sheer it comes off like your face is sweaty. Definitely requires more concealing and powdering to use this.

Mascara -Stila - Lash Visor (New- Fall 2004)
rated 4 of 5
shiaobundan 6/9/2010 1:48:00 PM

Very surprised. I usually hate Stila Mascaras (have tried 3 other formulas, all TERRIBLE). This one is great. It lengthens and curls well, although it could do a bit better with thickening. Doesn't smudge or flake. I like the brush and the packaging as well.

Mascara -Hard Candy - 1,000 Lashes Fiberized Mascara
rated 1 of 5
shiaobundan 6/6/2010 11:58:00 PM

Was this product never tested on HUMANS? Wtf!!! I've used plenty of fiber mascaras (Imju, L'Oreal, Too-faced) and this was the scariest one ever. First off, a fibrous mascara shouldn't look like fibers until its on your eyes/you're taking your makeup off. I could see the fiber pieces on the wand before application. I should have known better, but thought, "what the hell... it can't be that bad" and applied it to me eye. BIG MISTAKE. It is PAINFUL. You literally get tons of little millimeter long fibers stuck in your eyes (mine got beneath my contacts)! This has never ever happened to me with other fiber or tubular mascaras. In addition, it did nothing to lengthen, curl or volumize. It looked like nothing on my lashes. Also, I doubt that this is even a true fiber or tubular mascara, because those mascaras wash off in tubes and absolutely do not bleed when they get wet. My eyes started watering with the fibers in my eyes and I immediately had black tears streaking my face. As well, when I washed off the mascara I did NOT get little fibers or tubes in the sink as I do with other fiber mascaras. I got black run-off, which makes this mascara (at $6) equivalent to $3 Great Lash aka total crap.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Post Haste
rated 5 of 5
shiaobundan 5/9/2010 10:56:00 PM

Wow, people. Don't hate just because you have no idea how to use a hot pink! First, this color is amazingly pigmented. The texture is a perfect, as are all the matte squared from MAC. It goes on bright and blends like a dream. For everyone that says this color makes them look sickly, I'm going to guess you have trouble with all pinks. Your bad, not the shadow. Tips: 1) Don't wear this if you're warm toned, because even though its a "hot" pink, it's blue-based. 2) If you look sickly or like you've been crying, try using this as a crease color with a dark black or dark maroon on the lid. Putting pink on your lid makes you look sickly. 3) If using black on your lid is too dramatic, try using a shimmer beige or white in the inner corner/half of the lid, the pink on the rest of the lid and use a brown or taupe in the crease with a dark brown or black in the outer-v. Pink is hard if you don't know what you're doing. Please don't blame it on this amazing eyeshadow.

Makeup Brushes -Avon - All Over Shadow Brush
rated 5 of 5

I'm pleasantly surprised at how good this brush is. Its soft, yet dense. It can pack on eyeshadow, but also blend. It actually reminds me a LOT of the MAC 217 (which I own two of) because it is so versatile.

Concealers -Victoria's Secret - VS Pro Camouflage FX Concealer Palette
rated 1 of 5
shiaobundan 5/4/2010 12:16:00 AM

It may look like MUFE's concealer palette, but the product inside could not be more different. Don't kid yourselves, people... this is not a high-end concealer in any way, shape or form. The lightest shade is WAY too sticky. It offers so-so coverage, but does not blend well. My brush literally sticks to it and drags on my skin. Definately do not use this on your undereye or the side of your nose. It cakes horribly! The medium shade is not bad in consistency, but is compleeetely different textured than the other pots. It is goopy, instead of pressed. It offers good coverage, but again, cakes. The green does not conceal my redness at all. It has the same sticky texture as the light shade and also drags on my skin. It also completely blends away when I pat it into my red areas and does nothing to conceal redness. The last two dark colors, I have not used. Can I also mention that this stuff smells terrible? There is nothing redeeming about this concealer. It is probably worse quality than Wet N' Wild. For better concealer that is CHEAPER (or of the same price) I'd get Sonia Kashuk's Hidden Agenda palette OR Costco's concealer wheel, which is made by Borghese. Really, though, anything drugstore is better value than this.

Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss Of Shimmer
rated 2 of 5
shiaobundan 5/2/2010 11:14:00 PM

I have Nivea tinted balm in the cherry shade, so I bought this as well. Cherry is great, this one is TERRIBLE. It gives you "jizz lips." Way too pale.

Polishes -OPI - Nailpolish in Venus di Violet
rated 5 of 5
shiaobundan 4/20/2010 5:08:00 AM

Managed to find this shade a few days ago at a local nail salon. Its amaaaazing and worth every penny. It is sheer, but can be built to a pearly opaque. It looks great with one layer or five, the thickness is really your preference. I think this shade is universally pretty and a great go-to polish when you don't feel like being too creative or bold, but still want something with more kick than a basic pink or nude. If you can get your hands on it, I'd definately recommend purchasing more than one since it is d/c.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Blush - Dainty
rated 5 of 5
shiaobundan 4/7/2010 2:33:00 AM

MAC Mineralized blushes have amazing texture and payoff compared to their normal line of blushes. I find this color to be nearly an exact dupe of Nars Deep Throat in shade and texture. The difference is that its cheaper (although you get less product- I don't mind because I'd never use up the whole thing!).

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
shiaobundan 3/31/2010 12:10:00 AM

This is surprisingly good eyeliner from the drugstore. It honestly makes me consider never buying MAC fluidline again. The texture is creamy, easy to apply (no dragging on the lids), doesn't smudge and best of all, is cheap. For comparison, I've used a LOT of high end and low end gel liners out there. This is on par with MAC fluidline. It hands down beats Stila Smudgepots, Jane gel eyeliners, L'oreal HIP and Wet N' Wild.

Makeup Brushes -Borghese - Kirkland signature for Borghese
rated 4 of 5
shiaobundan 2/24/2010 1:04:00 AM

Overall, I recommend this set. It is not as good as MAC or Sigma, but certainly better than EcoTools and about on par (cheaper too) than Sonia Kashuk. I really enjoy the eye brushes. The blender brush (both travel and full size) are fantastic for placing color-- though not the greatest for actually blending. Synthetic brushes are never good for blending so I can't fault them there. The powder brush is pretty good, though I normally don't like synthetic powder brushes. The bronzer brush is great. I use it to apply liquid foundation as well as bronzer, brush and mineral makeup. I don't like the angled cut foundation brush. It worked well the first time, but after one wash lost a lot of its shape and became a but deformed. I can still use it, but not for foundation as it streaks (it streaked to begin with). I do find that it is great for applying cream cheek products though.

Eye Shadow -Physicians Formula - Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow in Canyon Classic
rated 5 of 5
shiaobundan 2/2/2010 12:26:00 AM

To start off, I'm used to using MAC, UD, Lancome, Stila every day. I almost NEVER wear d/s eyeshadows. That said, this quad is FABULOUS. The color shows up perfectly fine on me (I'm NC30, which is a lighter medium tone) and I LOVE how soft, matte and easy to blend they are. The gray in this palette can also be layered on for a subtle, smokey look. I find that as long as I have Carbon or Black Tied by MAC (or even a dark brown, dark maroon from any other higher end brand) I have EVERYTHING I need for a classic smokey eye or a night out. Basically this quad is versatile enough for everyday where, but can be dressed up simply with one more dark color for more drama. Would definitely buy if I ran out.
