Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - temptations 3 in 1 in Wickedly Hot Chocolate
shapat 12/14/2006 2:54:00 PM
Ok, I normally don't like many items from Bath and Body works, but while I was Christmas shopping this morning I smelled this in the store and really, really liked it. I had a coupon to get something free with any purchase, so I picked this up in the full size 3-in-1. I also bought the "Twisted Peppermint" lotion as well. I couldn't wait to get home and shower with my new chocolate body wash and shampoo. And I was far from diapppointed. "Wickedly Hot Chocolate" is a very rich smelling, true chocolate scent. It cleansed my hair well and smelled great while I lathered my body puff up with it and washed me. My shower really smelled incredible, which I loved, and it left my skin very soft and moisturized after the shower. The scent lingers on your skin a little, but not so much that you'll smell like you took a dip in Willy Wonka's chocolate river. I usually think that BBW stuff smells fake and has plastic-y undertones, but this scent I really enjoy. I hope that they don't discontinue it, as they seem to have hit the mark in developing a really great chocolate scent!! I think I would buy this again, and that doesn't usually happen to me with their stuff.

Shampoo -Burt's Bees - More Moisture Raspberry and Brazil Nut Shampoo

I tried this shampoo wanting to get away from sulfates and cones, and I really like it. It took me a few shampoos to make up my mind, but I like it and think it does a good job of cleansing without all the chemicals. It feels a little different when you lather, but rinses clean and does not strip my hair. I follow up with the matching conditioner and really like the results-clean, shiny and healthy hair with no buildup and no dangerous chemicals. The scent is a little strong but it's a small price to pay for avoiding all the dangerous hair-harming ingredients in most shampoos. I think I might try the grapefruit shampoo from Burt's when I run out of this. This shampoo is worth a try though, but give it a few shampoos before you make up your mind because it lathers differently from others that contain sulfates.

Shampoo -Nexxus - Therappe Shampoo

I use this in conjunction with the Humectress conditioner, which I love, and the two really work well together. I don't know if it is HG status, but I really like it a lot. It does seem to moisturize, if you let it sit on your hair the way you're supposed to. I get a decent lather, although I know that others seem to have differing opinions on that. On the whole, I think I will keep buying it. I place more stock in my conditioner than my shampoo, so that may change, but for now, I like it.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Russ Kalvin's generic brand version of Nexxus Humectress Conditioner
shapat 10/19/2006 11:52:00 AM
This is nothing close to the real Humectress. It smells very similar and has a comparable consistency, but it really is not the real thing. It doesn't give enough "slip" when you comb your hair and does not seem to penetrate the way the real thing does. I thought it would at least be close to Humectress as a conditioner since it claims to have many of the same ingredients, but I was very disappointed. Ladies, save your pennies and get the real thing. Don't waste your time with this one. Nexxus is pricy for a reason. And this knockoff is cheap for a reason.

Conditioner -Nexxus - Humectress Conditioner

I think I've tried dozens of conditioners, supposed "salon" products as well as "wing and a prayer" purchases at the drugstore. My mom used this on my hair when I was younger, and I never gave it much thought afterward. In an attempt to hydrate my parched, dry, pregnant hair I decided to give this a whirl again, mostly out of desperation, not wanting to chop my hair off (even though I keep my hair well trimmed). Honestly, I don't know why I didn't start using this earlier. I has saved my hair and restored it to its former luster and gloriousness. Humectress, for me, has been the only conditioner that doesn't coat my hair, and really moisturizes from the inside out, and the softness and shine last until the next shampoo. A true find, I will NEVER go back to anything other than this, it's just great. The only downside is it is a little on the pricy side, but ladies, you definitely get what you pay for with this one, and it is worth it to not damage your hair with other products that do not work. Also, don't bother with the generic at Sally Beauty Supply, it is nowhere close to the real thing. I can't say enough good about this one. My HG conditioner, finally!! :-)

Lotions/ Creams -OPI - Avojuice Skin Quenchers in Mocha Mint Juicie
shapat 10/19/2006 11:23:00 AM
I liked this one too, but I like anything scented like mint chocolate chip. I thought it was a nice light lotion that wasn't heavy and greasy feeling, and absorbed quickly without leaving me with that slippery hands feeling you get with some other lotions. The scent doesn't linger that long, but it smells good going on and kept my hands soft. I'd buy it again.

I have been using this on and off for five years and I love it to pieces. It really is a treat for your fingernails. It moisturizes well, smells good and last a long time, plus you don't need to use that much so a tin lasts forever. It takes a while to absorb completely but I just rub the rest onto my hands and they're soft, moisturized, and smelling good. Try this stuff, it really does make your hands and nails nicer.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Trio - Egyptian Sands [DISCONTINUED]
shapat 10/10/2006 1:07:00 PM
I agree with all the other ladies, this is a great trio of colors that are very wearable for any skin color/eye color. Super smooth, super blendable and layerable. Great price, high quality product. Can be used for a daytime or an evening look, depending on how you layer them. Another winner from Wet n Wild!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
shapat 10/9/2006 1:29:00 PM
Echhh. Pretty bad. There's a reason no one likes it. It's very runny and hard to control your application. Plus it doesn't separate lashes, it makes them stick together and dry that way. It just plain sucks. Spend another dollar or two and get something-anything- else! Definitely not repurchasing.

Shampoo -Suave - 2 in 1 Kids Shampoo

I also have this in Wild Watermelon and I like it. It lathers well and rinses clean. But I do have to follow up with a conditioner on the ends or it can be drying. I can get a comb through it just fine without using conditioner, but I need the extra moisturing. Would repurchase, maybe to try out other scents. My husband likes it on his short buzzed hair as well.

Fragrances -Ralph Lauren - Romance

This brings back memories. This was the first perfume my then boyfriend (now husband) bought for me about 8 years ago, when we were dating. Obviously I am biased toward it. I don't wear perfume much, but I did remember that I liked this scent if i only applied a little, because it can be strong. A slightly spicy floral. Ahh...nostalgia. Great memories, nice perfume.

I really liked this scent at first but it began to get on my nerves after a few showers. It does lather nicely and a little goes a long way but I wouldn't repurchase, the scent is just not for me.

Treatments -Garnier - Fructis Sleek and Shine Fortifying Deep Conditioner 3 Minute Masque
shapat 8/26/2006 11:12:00 AM
I tried this last night as part of a little pamper session and because my hair is pretty frizzy and straw-like due to my daily blow-drying and the humidity. I applied it to my whole head of hair after using a clarifying shampoo and let it sit for about 15 minutes. I have to say, my hair was pretty slick and shiny and soft without being greasy at all. I am impressed that my hair was softened up so much, I thought for sure I was headed to the hairdresser for a chop. Thank goodness I decided to pick this up, it saved my hair! And the price is cheap too, I think I paid $3.99 for a fair sized tub. A winner, will repurchase!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - SkinMilk Body Lotion

I use all sorts of body lotions because I like variety, but I always seem to come back to this one. I love the packaging, very cute. Lightly scented like vanilla and very moisturizing. I have noticed a little firming, as it claims to do. I also have the shower gel and while it smells a little different, it moisturizes pretty well too. All in all, not bad.

Tinted Moisturizer -Wet 'n' Wild - Ultimate Sheer Tinted Moisturizer - Natural
shapat 8/17/2006 2:29:00 PM
One word: PERFECT! I really like the satiny coverage of this "tinted moisturizer". This is really much more like a light coverage foundation and works really well at evening out skin tone. I like the fact that I can use this to help conceal my dark circles so that I need less concealer. Price is good, under $5 and much, much better than so many other TMs and foundations I have tried. Also, a big plus, does not sink into lines or make pores look big the way some other products like this tend to do. Just a great face even-outer! Recommend! EDIT: I really really like this, I am updating to 5 lippies!
