Brows -Rimmel - Professional Eyebrow Pencil
shanpearce 4/7/2013 11:20:00 AM
Firstly I would like to say that when purchasing this product, I had purchased the wrong colour for my hair and brows and that this the only criticism I have about this product. I had originally bought the Dark Brown shade, not realising that the Hazel shade would be much better suited to my needs. Apart from that, this brand of brow pencil is the only brand I've used for a very long time (a few years or so) that has made my eyebrows look flawless. The product itself seems to last forever and applies smoothly, although if you are heavy-handed it could make your eyebrows look very fake! As well as a cheap price, only about £6 in my local drugstore, the product stays on the brow for almost 24hrs (useful information if you're going on a night out and wake up in a strangers bed lol). I highly recommend this product as it will serve you as well as it has served me! I hope you liked this review and feel free to check out my other reviews! - Shannon. x

Eye Shadow -MAC - Nocturnelle Eyeshadow
shanpearce 2/26/2013 8:48:00 AM
First things first, I recently did a review for MAC's cremesheen lipstick in the shade of 'Hang Up', and I said that I would do a review for a matching eyeshadow... so here it is! I went into my local MAC store just after Christmas, looking for a fresh new face of makeup products to create a kind of vampy/gothic look, and once I had told the MUA what I had in mind, she showed me this eyeshadow and I was in love! Nocturnelle is such a beautiful colour to wear, with a slightly aubergine tinge to it, it can be applied lightly for a soft purple look or applied heavily for a pretty gothic twist! I often use this eyeshadow along with the MAC Ricepaper eyeshadow (which I will review soon!) and it just gives my eyes a wonderful blast of gothical colour! I am currently MAC foundation shade NC20 and so this product does look very 'in your face' on me, but that is exactly what I want! This eyeshadow in particular stays on well during the day and can be toned down or up depending on what other colour you use with it. And for only £12 in the UK stores, this eyeshadow should be a must-have for everyone who is wanting to have a change of face so to speak! If like me you want a change-up of make-up looks, I definitely suggest going for a vampy/gothic look by buying MAC Nocturnelle eyeshadow and MAC cremesheen lipstick in shade Hang Up! Lipstick -MAC - Hang-up Cremesheen
shanpearce 1/19/2013 12:51:00 PM
First of all, let me start off by saying that I absolutely adore this MAC lipstick! Although I am a big fan of MAC products, some of their products are very 'hit and miss', but this lipstick is definitely one of my favourite MAC products! I went into my local department store and asked one of the artists at the MAC counter to help me find a dark purple/'gothic' shade, and Hang-Up is the one she showed me! I have the skin shade of MAC NC20 and this shade is such a beautiful colour on me(if I do say so myself!). In the packaging it appears to be a dark plum/aubergine colour, but once on the lips it turns to be a wonderful dark berry colour. The pro's I have for this lipstick and shade is that it is only £14, like most of MAC's lipsticks, the colour doesn't bleed, it stays on the lips for a good 6 hours, and in my opinion it suits almost everyone! The only con's I have for Hang-Up is that I think I would love it even more if it was a matte lipstick as cremesheen isn't really my thing, and if the colour in the packaging was the same as on my lips, but maybe I should just use a darker shade(who knows?) Apart from that, I really do suggest buying this lipstick if you want to go for a different and darker shade that isn't too 'goth'. It goes perfectly with the MAC eyeshadow 'Nocturnelle' (I will do a review for that very soon!), so if you are looking for a new look, this lipstick is the one to buy! I hope this review has helped you! - Shannon x

Primer/ Corrector -Rimmel - Fix & Perfect Pro Primer 002
shanpearce 11/24/2012 9:46:00 AM
As my first ever face primer, I didn't really expect to tell a good primer from a bad primer, but surprisingly I did. At first this primer did the job well, I could feel my pores closing and tightening and I could see the difference, but as time when on it felt like it had lost its spark. For example, I stopped getting the 'closed pore' feeling and my makeup started to come off again after a few hours. Don't get me wrong, this wasn't a bad investment as my first ever primer, as the price was fairly cheap and it fit well in my makeup bag, but the packaging and the product wasn't all it was cracked up to be. There's nothing really special about the design of this primer, to be honest it's actually quite basic and boring (compared to primers from Urban Decay for example) and the tube design means it's hard to put back any excess product. I was also disappointed with how much product you have to apply to the face to actually cover the face, seeing as there was not much product in the tube in the first place. I think this product is good for a quick 'go-to' product or if you are tight for money, but not if you want something with great results. I hope this review has helped you make your decision! -Shannon x

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Lemon Aid
shanpearce 11/10/2012 7:25:00 AM
First things first, I WORSHIP this product! I honestly have nothing bad to say about Lemon Aid apart from I wish there was more of it in the pan! My mother is a diabetic and so my eyelids have a yellow discoloured look to them, which often shows through my foundation if its a light coverage foundation (which I hate). She was the one who actually introduced me to this product when I told her about my problems and I've loved it ever since! It is a bit pricey for how much is in the pan but it does last a long time which is a good thing. It's texture and appearance is that of a pan concealer and so it will slip nicely into your makeup bag without taking up too much space. It also has it's own compact mirror within the packaging so it's good for on the go! Now, I must admit, for me this product is only good for my actual eyelids, everywhere else on my face is not blemish free when I apply Lemon Aid but seeing as my eyelids are my main concern, I am not too worried. It goes on well with both fingers or a concealer brush and only a little bit is needed. It evens out the appearance of discolouration and creates a natural base underneath foundation. If you do suffer from discoloured eyelids, then I definitely recommend this product to you! I hope this review has helped you decide to buy it! -Shannon x

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
shanpearce 11/7/2012 9:37:00 AM
I bought this product a few months ago at a makeup party a friend of mine was hosting as I was in dire need of a new foundation and that was the only decent looking one there at the time, at first I liked it but now this foundation is the enemy(in my own opinion). The price isn't too bad, it's affordable for a drugstore brand. My main concerns are the qualtiy of the packaging and the product itself. First of all, the packaging of the bottle is completely open, no pumps or filters, which means I ALWAYS end up with extra product on my hand which I end up having to throw away. Secondly, the opening to the bottle is too large for the lid and so all of the product seeps into the lid when the bottle is turnt upside down (either in a makeup bag or something). The next complaint I have about the product itself is the smell of the foundation, it smells HORRID! You can even smell it once you've applied it to your face and it personally makes me feel ill. Its a very man-made smell which is very strong and unpleasant. The second thing I dislike is the texture of the foundation. Even though it is a runny liquid, it is very hard to work into the skin and is often streaky and takes a long time (2 to 3 minutes) to actually work the foundation into the skin properly. Although I have given this foundation a negative review, it does have some positive effects. It gives a medium buildable coverage, which when you add the right amount for you(I used 2 layers), creates a nice flawless photoshopped effect on your skin as it hides skin blemishes. This product goes on easier with fingers(although unhygienic) or sponges as opposed to a foundation brush. Another positive is that the foundation lasts for a good few hours, normally 5 or 6 hours for myself, and it doesn't dry the skin out or go patchy during the day. I do recommend this foundation if you have acne-prone skin and need a good coverage and have the time and patience to apply it. I am now looking for a different foundation and will review that one once I have bought it and used it. I hope this review helped! -Shannon x
