Cleansers -Yes To Carrots - Yes To Cucumbers Face Cleanser Towelettes
shanidy 7/17/2012 10:23:00 PM
I'm going to say no to buying these again. Unless they cost less than asking my face with battery acid? These stung my face sooooo badly. I couldn't wash it off fast enough. 3 hours later, my skin is still red and stinging.

Top/Base Coats -Essie - Good to Go! The Fastest Drying Top Coat
shanidy 10/30/2011 1:17:00 PM
This is my favorite topcoat. I find that it dries very quickly and remains very shiny. It self-levels beautifully, without being too thick. Unlike Seche Vite, I can use 75% of the bottle before it thickens to the point of no return. I love that it's easy to find at most drugstores. My manicures last approx 4 days with Gelous base coat and Good to go topcoat. Normally I'm bored before I see any tipwear or chipping. I'm on the 3rd bottle and don't plan to switch any time soon!

Liquid -MAC - Pro Longwear Foundation
shanidy 10/3/2010 5:55:00 PM
MAC foundations always seem to let me down, but I just keep trying them. I am pleased to say that my persistence has finally paid off. Pro Longwear is my HG foundation for a satin matte finish. (Diorskin Nude still holds out for a more dewy face). I have very pale sensitive combination/dry skin. I'm using NC15. This is a perfect match for me. I think that this foundation runs a little more pale than normal. NC15 is normally slightly dark and yellow on my skin. The coverage seems moderate to me (I'm bad about this because I don't need much coverage). It sets fairly matte and stays flawless through my 10 hour work day. I've had pictures done in this foundation and am amazed by the appearance of my skin. On top of all that, it is easily available to me, not too expensive, and comes with a pump!

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay - Complexion Primer Potion - Pore Perfecting
shanidy 8/18/2009 12:04:00 PM
I bought this primer in a set of all of Urban Decay primers. This is my second favorite thing out of the set (with Urban Decay Primer Potion being the first!). I have very fair, sensitive skin. I'm not acne-prone, but I'm very reaction prone. Products tend to give me a rash, rather than give me breakouts. I have normal/oily skin that tends to get dehydrated. I have medium-sized pores in the middle of my face, that tend to get clogged. I love this primer! The primer is thick, white, and sort of dry feeling. I have heard it described like glue, and I would agree. I use a pearl sized amount. The primer spreads easily on the face, despite the heavy texture. It creates a smooth surface and is a little mattifying. I feel like my foundation applies better and may even last longer with this primer. I have not experienced any sensitivity or breakouts with this product after 10 days of constant 12-hour day use. I am now using this as my primer of choice...I have also used Bare Escentuals Prime Time (heavily silicone based, my favorite with powder foundations, MAC Prep+Prime 50 (my favorite for days when I need a little more oil control), MUFE HD (ehh, not really a fan), Laura Gellar Spackle (not a fan, AT ALL), Smashbox Photofinish and Light (made me an oily mess), and various drugstore varieties. This is my new favorite out of the bunch for everyday use!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash BIG
shanidy 8/10/2009 7:52:00 PM
I'm actually surprised that I like this...but I really do. I am not a fan of the old great lash. I thought it was a formula thing, but maybe it was about the brush? I can get good volume and lenght out of this. It does take several coats, and some work to get there...but I don't get clumpiness or crispy lashes. The blackest black is very black and glossy...which I love. I have worn this alone, over UD primer, and over my Shiseido lash primer. (I must say that Shiseido makes every mascara better!) I think that I would grab this again..and it is cheap for a drugstore mascara. I found mine at Walmart for $4.49

Crème -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Cream Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
shanidy 6/21/2009 3:25:00 PM
I would have loved to try this foundation, but even the palest shades are too dark and way too orangey. I'm generally NC15 or just a touch paler. The pump is nice, however...

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Mascara Base [DISCONTINUED]
shanidy 10/18/2008 9:55:00 PM
This product is HG! I will buy it again and again. I am a fair-skinned redhead with pale, short, straight eyelashes. I need eyelashes to look awake. I have fought with mascaras for years and never liked any of them. This was suggested to me to help keep my curl, give me a little more bulk to the last, and keep my curl. I'm happy to say that it does all of these things! The formula seems a little thicker than mascara and is a gray color. The wand is plump. I use a single coat of this on each eye for just the upper lashes. Before allowing this to dry completely, I apply a coat of mascara to each eye. I now love almost every mascara! The base helps to lenghten and to plump, but also gives a sturdier base to apply the mascara to. I love this!!!

Blush -NARS - Super Orgasm
shanidy 10/18/2008 9:14:00 PM
I love Super Orgasm! I'm ppp with neutral undertones and naturally pink cheeks. This version is more pink than the original. It also has a lot more glitter. I'm not a fan of the glitter on my cheeks, but I find that it is easily removed from the brush. I use a skunk brush, take a light sweep, and dust off the glitter. It is a little more work, but the resulting color is definitely worth it.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
shanidy 10/16/2008 11:02:00 AM
My skin:I have combination skin that is oily in the tzone and normal everywhere else. I am very pale with neutral undertones. I am generally too pale for many foundation lines. I purchased this is 110...the lightest shade. I had high hopes for this one...due to the board raves. The color match was great, and the packaging is pleasant with a pump. The product, however, was not so lovely. The foundation didn't apply smoothly and sat in my pores. I looked like I had teeny pools of foundation instead of an even, pretty coat. I tried this with BE prime time primer, Shiseido SPF 55, the MUFE HD primer and Mac Prep and Prime. I applied it with a brush, a sponge, and a kabuki. None of these methods seemed any better than the rest. I didn't have trouble with oil, which was nice...but that's about all of the good that I can say. I would suggest a sample first if you can get your hands on one. Otherwise...I would save your $40...

Liquid -Lancome - Photogenic Lumessence Light Mastering & Line-Smoothing Makeup
shanidy 10/15/2008 9:50:00 AM
Would I buy this again? Absolutely! I have combination skin that is oily in the tzone and normal everywhere else. I am very pale with neutral undertones. I wear this foundation in Ivorie 1 (the palest shade). I was originally worried that this formula might be too moisturizing for my normal/oily skin...but it isn't! When I wear oil controlling foundations, I end up with break through on the tip of my nose. This foundation doesn't do that!!! I get a fresh dewy look instead of either a greasy one or a half-matte/half-greasy spotted look. The formula is a smooth cream and one little pump will easily cover my entire face. I am in love with the finish and lasting power of this foundation. Someone else described this as a beautiful foundation...and I totally agree!

Primer/ Corrector -Bare Escentuals - Prime Time
shanidy 9/28/2008 10:30:00 AM
I received this primer in a TSV from QVC. I didn't really think that I needed a foundation primer...but since I had it :) I really like this primer. It is a clear thick silicone based primer. I use about one pump to cover my entire face. I apply the primer starting on my nose and blending outward. My skin becomes smooth and my pores are masked. The primer seems to help with the general moisture level in the skin...I'm assuming it helps to "seal in" the moisture. My foundations, mineral and liquid, apply like a dream over this primer. They last longer and stay fresher looking for longer. The packaging is nice. It comes in a black and white plastic bottle with a pump. The price is great for a primer, $20 for 1 oz. QVC has good deals on this primer from time to time. My skin story: I'm very pale (lighter than the scale in most lines), very sensitive, and very picky :) My skin is dry on the cheeks and slight oily on my nose. My chin and my forehead are pretty normal!

Toners -Clinique - Mild Clarifying Lotion
shanidy 9/27/2008 9:20:00 PM
My skin story: I'm very pale (lighter than the scale in most lines), very sensitive, and very picky :) My skin is dry on the cheeks and slight oily on my nose. My chin and my forehead are pretty normal! I love this product. I can't get too aggressive with my skincare because I'm so sensitive. This product is gentle enough for my skin, yet strong enough to help clear it. I use the Clarisonic for manual exfoliation and this product for some chemical exfoliation. This keeps the pores on my nose clear and clean! I've been searching high and low for something that would help with my stupid clogged pores. The price is great $11. The packaging is classic Clinique...a green accented glass bottle with an open bottle top. I will buy this again and again...

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation
shanidy 9/27/2008 7:08:00 PM
My skin story: I'm very pale (lighter than the scale in most lines), very sensitive, and very picky :) My skin is dry on the cheeks and slight oily on my nose. My chin and my forehead are pretty normal! This is the best foundation in my line-up right now. I'm too pale for foundations in most lines, but 38 matches me perfectly. The coverage is fair/medium when applied with a MAC 187 brush. My skin tone is evened, but I do need a little concealer on my undereyes. The foundation wears well...only fades after about 10-12 hours. I will continue to purchase...at least until I find something perfect :)

Cleansers -Garnier - Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Gel Cleanser
shanidy 9/27/2008 6:58:00 PM
My skin story: I'm very pale (lighter than the scale in most lines), very sensitive, and very picky :) My skin is dry on the cheeks and slight oily on my nose. My chin and my forehead are pretty normal! I picked this cleanser up after reading reviews here. I wanted a new cleanser that was gentle and with no gritty bits to use with my Clarisonic. This seemed to fit the bill perfectly. I purchased this on sale, but I believe that the full price was only about $6. The packaging is nice enough...I like the green color that the Garnier line uses. It comes with a pump, which I prefer. The cleanser itself was not as successful as the packaging/price, however. The smell of the product was a little off-putting, as I'm very sensitive to smells. The soap was slightly foaming and felt nice on. I actually found that it made my skin too clean. It made me squeaky clean and irritated. After using this, my skin over-produced oil like crazy. I will continue to use my Cetaphil gentle.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
shanidy 9/27/2008 6:54:00 PM
My skin story: I'm very pale (lighter than the scale in most lines), very sensitive, and very picky :) My skin is dry on the cheeks and slight oily on my nose. My chin and my forehead are pretty normal! I love this cleanser! This provides just enough cleansing...but doesn't leave me too squeaky clean. The cleansers that strip oil really bother my sensitive skin. I started using this about 4 months ago when I purchased the Clarisonic. I remove my makeup with Pond's cold cream, and finish with Cetaphil and my clarisonic. I end up clean, but slight moisturized. The price can't be beat either! The packaging is a little boring...but I don't much care. I transfer this to a pretty bathroom lotion pump for ease of use...not for vanity :)
