Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
rated 4 of 5

I have oily, very large pored skin and I've used the following to attempt to combat: - Dr Brandt's Pores No More - TooFaced Primed and Poreless - HC primer (YUCK) - Smashbox photo finish - Cliniique Pore Minimizer And out of all of these, the L'oreal is my fav . . . my fav part of it is the fact that instead of looking oily, I look glowy . . . I'm okay with a non matte look so long as I don't look like a grease pit :) Pros: - Covers up the craters on my cheeks very well - Makes my makeup apply super smooth - Smooths any dry patches I get from using BHA Cons: - Awkward to apply b/c you can't use too much, so you have to pat it in rather than rub - By the end of the day, my makeup is missing in some spots on my face, however this may be due to the fact I live in 100+ degree weather, and not the primer - $13 for drugstore product - No spatula/etc with the jar

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup

I really do love this foundation. It gives me medium to full coverage and does last all day for me. I first tried this foundation on my winter skin and couldn't find a match even though I loved the look/feel of it, so I tried it again as soon as I had darkened up from the summer sun and now it's absolute love!! I apply with my fingers (pour fdnt on my fingers, warm it up by rubbing between my fingers, then rub/pat on moisturized and primed skin). I use the L'oreal Studio Secrets primer with it and find that I remain close to poreless after a smooth application :) I love the finish it gives - for me, on my oily skin, I feel as though I get the absolute perfect, dewy look. I never need to blot my face/reapply powder throughout the day, which is awesome (the other 2 fdnts I like and use require that - EL DW and NARS SG). I remove by double cleansing: Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse coupled with PMS. For me however, the most important aspect of fdnt is its coverage of my rosy cheeks. It's a fine line between masking the red completely and covering w/ fdnt only to have splotchiness. I feel as though CS does this job perfectly - I can still see some rosiness come through, but it's even. To me, I feel as though CS is MFBB, and that is a great feeling! I will repurchase and I'm crossing my fingers I will be able to find a successful winter match . . . otherwise it's moisturizing with Jergens Glow year round LOL. Pros: - can find at Walmart/drugstores/etc (big plus in my podunk town) - easy finger application - doesn't sink into my pores - can sheer out or increase coverage as needed - no concealer needed - sheers/minimizes my natural facial redness Cons: - I reallllly dislike the packaging - I wish it was a little cheaper, but not a deterrent for repurchase - limited color range, I find the range to be a little on the cool side I will revisit this review in a few weeks/months to update, but as of now, this fdnt is HG for me :)

Palettes -Urban Decay - Urban Ammo Eye Palette

Purchased a few months ago and have used this palette several times (until giving it to a friend a few weeks ago). The glitter shades ruined the palette for me . . . I knew this buying the palette, but thought the other shades would make it worth the value (for me . . . price wise if there were no glitter fall out, this would be a repurchaseagain and again item for me). UD makes beautiful shimmer and matte shades, just bummed all their palettes are comprised of half glitter shadow :(

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #209 Eye liner
rated 5 of 5
shahada 6/17/2010 3:17:00 PM

Absolutely love this brush for gel eyeliner. I can make a beautiful winged line (well as beautiful as my skills allow lol) or a perfect simple line across the top of my lid. I use successfully with my Stila Smudge Pots, MAC Fluidlines, and Bobbi Brown gel liners. Easy to clean with cleansing oil and follow up baby soap. Will definitely hands down purchase again in the even the brush needs to be replaced . . . haven't had to do that yet with a MAC brush. I do also have the Sigma 209 and do not like it near as much . . . much thicker, but wanted to offer a comparison. I find with the 209 I can draw a much smoother line than with an angled brush like the 266 (which I love for my eyebrows).

Blush -NYX - Peach
rated 5 of 5
shahada 4/1/2010 11:27:00 AM

I lurve this blush. I have naturally rosy cheeks, and while my full coverage foundation does a good job of mostly covering the red, a little still peeks through of course. I have to be wary of what blush I choose to not increase the look of red on my face. Peach does a GREAT job of this - gives me the perfect contoured pinky flush so I don't look dead from the full coverage fdtn without bring the red in my face out. I apply with a 168 high and it's just lovely. Hard for me to determine how long it lasts on my face b/c by midday my cheeks are a little more rosy and most blushes are washed out by that. No fallout, not super duper pigmented (good for a heavy handed gal lol), and not chalky. I definitely like it and would by again if I ever hit pan.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
rated 4 of 5
shahada 4/1/2010 11:22:00 AM

I've used PMS for several months now and I definitely like it. I use it at night after I've oil cleansed w/ Dermalogica's PreCleanse and I definitely feel like the two products together remove all my makeup. PMS smells great, is creamy, and rinses clean. I find that alone it does not 100% remove my makeup, especially any eye makeup, but with PreCleanse my face is awesomely clean. I have repurchased and will again to use at night. My only complaint is that for me, PMS can be a little drying (depending on the weather) and that is why I use it at night - so I can use a heavier moisturizer as I sleep to counteract any tight skin. It does exactly what I ask it to do though (deep cleans, removes any traces of makeup, decent price for the amount I use).

Eye Shadow -MAC - Club Eye Shadow

I absolutely love club!! Such an awesome duochrome - I LOVE putting a black pp as a base on my lid, patting club on my lid with a 239, and then putting club with a touch of carbon in my crease. I lurve it! Super awesome color, great blendability, love it!! Will definitely purchase again!

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
rated 4 of 5
shahada 3/23/2010 12:06:00 PM

This is almost HG for me - would be if it didn't settle into fine lines by midafternoon. It works so so well with my large pores - doesn't sink into pores, masks them. Great coverage - this is the only thing that bugs me ... To cover up my red cheeks, I end up putting too much on that it looks cakey. That's my only gripe - I wish I could get more coverage for the redness on my cheeks. Blends so well with my skin. I apply with my stippling (187), section by section as the fdnt dries so quickly. I don't like the bottle w/o a pump because it can get messy - I use a qtip dipped in the fdnt and place it on my hand to put my brush in the fdnt to apply. Gives an airbrushed smooth finish :) I set with NARS pressed powder, Studio Fix Powder, or MUFE HD powder. Beautiful and a definitely a buy again!

Treatments -Dr. Brandt - Pores No More
rated 4 of 5
shahada 3/23/2010 11:53:00 AM

I use this as a fdnt primer and I definitely like it. Helps my fdnt to last all day, apply smoothly, and def minimizes mores. I apply with my fingers after moisturizing and under my EL DW fdtn. Everything is smooth and sets well. I personally still have to blot once midday and apply powder mid afternoon, but this helps my fdnt to last full coverage and smoothly for the 14+ hrs I expect it to last I like the little pump and I like the citrusy smell :). Light tint that I wished would even out my skintone a little, but meh, fdnt is for that eh? Definite like :)

Highlighters -NARS - Highlighting Blush Powder in Albatross
rated 5 of 5
shahada 3/23/2010 11:42:00 AM

I LOVE this highlighter!! It is a perfectly beautiful golden sheen. Absolutely perfect on my nc30 skin. I was worried it would accentuate my large pores, but the powder is a perfect sheen, not a glittery mess. It doesn't make my pores look larger at all, I use this as a cheek highlighter above my blush, down my nose. Same size as the blushes and great value for price. I cannot imagine the day it will run out given the teeny amt used everyday. I apply with my 116. Will definitely buy again in the event I ever finish the pan :)

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon #252B Nutty
rated 5 of 5
shahada 3/18/2010 12:28:00 PM

What a gorgeous color!!! I had heard good things avt the new WnW shadows and thought taupe was a good, safe color to try. Shimmery with no fallout, lasts all day over paint pot as primer, very smooth, nice sheen. I don't find this glittery at all, just a perfect taupe lid color. Want to check out the other WnW singles now ... Would def purchase again!

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 3 of 5
shahada 3/18/2010 12:22:00 PM

I find UDPP is an okay product - effective if worn under a cream base (like paint pots or BB cream shadows) but ineffective on its own holding onto powder shadows. It is very dryong on me if it apply outside of the lid (left dry irritated red patch in corner of my eye). Packaging is frustrating because it is hard to get product out after its been used a little. Far prefer tfsi to udpp. Won't repurchase, but def still better to use udpp than nothing, hands down.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 5 of 5
shahada 3/18/2010 12:16:00 PM

I LOVE this mascara. It is HG status with me - it is volumizing and lengthening without looking like I'm wearing false lashes. Lasts all day without flaking or smudging and doesn't bother my contact wearing eyes. Makes a HUGE difference in how my eye make up looks. Polished and perfect. Pbi - I prefer the waterproof version for my lower lashes. Have and will continue to buy again - can't wait to try the new lashblast!!!

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
rated 5 of 5
shahada 3/16/2010 11:30:00 AM

I much much much prefer this to UDPP (better packaging, smoother, creamier, lasts longer). Works great as a base to both cream and powder eyeshadows as well as providing a base for pigments. I use my ring finger to apply and let dry for 30 seconds before applying shadow. I often layer with a paint pot because I usually need makeup to last 14+ hours, but even alone, it helps shadow stay for 12+ hours. I have not tested this with DS shadows, only HE with strong pigmentation, but I am very pleased with the product. Will def purchase again when I run out of this tube :)
