I received a deluxe sample from Barney's and decided to give this a try; I applied it alone without any other product before going to bed -so I'm sure this is what caused it. The next morning when I woke up, I found my face and eyes completely swollen, red, blocthy, itchy and warm. My eyes were so swollen that I no longer had the folds of my eyelids! I looked like I had just come out of the Operating Room from having a face lift! I have NEVER in my life (I'm 36) had a reaction like this. I don't consider myself to have sensitive skin....I've used everything from tretinoin, exfoliants, alpha/beta acids etc..... It's been 3 days since the reaction, and my skin feels like sandpaper. My entire face is now dry and flaky. I look about 5 years older now. There's probably about 3 layers of dead skin cells on my face. When I splash water on my face, it burns! I've been to the Dermatology Dept at Tufts medical center and now have to take prednisone -a steroid to combat this. I have no idea what's in this stuff, but whatever it is...it's potent. If you're contemplating on trying this, I would highly recommend that you get a sample and than do a patch test on the inside of your wrist first. So, I cannot comment on how effective or beneficial this product may be, for the obvious reason that I'm allergic to it. Perhaps it is a good moisturizer for some people. As I said, I don't have sensitive skin...I've tried almost everything out there and this is the only product that's made me react like this. So be cautious.

I hated this when it was came out and remember thinking that it was one of the most vile perfumes out there. Then, a few years later as my knowledge and taste in perfumes evolved, I went back and tested it again. It still wasn't a scent that I immediately liked, but this time around I actually put it on and gave it a chance. I'm so glad I did. It's smells really fresh and airy. With a blast of citrus (but it's not a citrusy scent). I now own a full bottle of this. Interestly enough, all my compliments come when I wear this.

This product works, not bad at all...it's just really messy and inconvenient to use...not good enough for me to tolerate the mess.

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types

I really don't think the smell is that bad....the product does give my skin a nice glow. It's light and does not break me out. Don't like the fact that it's in a jar. I will repurchase because the lactic acid helps exfoliate my skin.

Smells nice enough. Not very interesting...a better version of Pink Sugar.

Moisturizers -Kinerase - Kinerase Lotion with SPF 30
rated 4 of 5

I received a generous sample of this and was able to test it out for a week. I have normal to combination skin with monthly break-outs. It was quite thick and hard to spread, however it did not break me out. I like the fact that it has a high SPF and that it did not pill up into little balls when I applied make-up over it. I really like this, however the price is quite high! I suppose a tube of this would last quite a long time as my little sample lasted me over a week.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Pillow Talk

I received a sample of this with purchase and really liked the colour on my yellow, olive skin. Good texture, long lasting (I don't ever rub my lips together though). the only thing I didn't like was the scent or perhaps lack of one? It smelled very plasticky...

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Invisible Blemish Treatment

I love this product..it's cheap and it works. I have combination skin, in my mid-thirties (yup, still breaking out)and I layer this on my trouble spots under my make-up everyday..even if I'm not breaking out (I think it's the reason why I'm not breaking out). I think if you have ultra sensitive skin, than perhaps it's not for you..as I've read from some of the negative reviews of this. The bottom line is, there isn't a single product that will work for everybody. This stuff is basically salisylic acid (found in asparin). Advocates of the asparin mask will like this-it's basically the same thing. I just think it's more convenient than having to smash up asparin tablets and mixing with water. Give it a try..it's cheap. Test it out, if your skin can handle it, than use it everyday on your acne prone areas...it'll keep your clear. Just be consistent. It works.

Skincare - Face -Caudalie - Contour Cream Eyes and Lips
rated 5 of 5

The texture of this eye/lip cream is very light and non-greasy. Very easy to spread -less tugging of the skin. Prefers good moisture. Works really well under sunscreen and make-up. I usually prefer an eye cream that has sunscreen and just resort to regular moisturizer for my eye area at night..but this product won me over. I'm going to purchase a tube of this stuff. Love it.

Fragrances -Chanel - No.5

What can I say that hasn't been said before? This is a classic for a reason, elegant, understated yet avant garde for its time. Whenever I catch a breeze of this either on myself or on somebody else...it always leaves me surprised...again -the sillage is amazing, smells much better swirling in the air than when sniffed up close. Because it's been around so long, it's really easy to take this one for granted -just try to imagine when this fragrance first came out -the scent, the packaging..so modern!

Fragrances -Robert Piguet Fragrances - Fracas
rated 1 of 5
serene111 4/29/2007 11:58:00 PM

I have tried so hard to like this..but I just can't. Years ago when I sampled this, I hated it. Recently, I fell in love with Malle's Carnal Flower and thought perhaps my nose is getting more sophisticated and that I'm finally ready for tuberose. Alas, I guess that isn't the case. I just don't know what it is about Fracas...I find it revolting. I sprayed myself at Sephora's and forced myself to leave it on for the entire day...to experience the entire journey that Fracas would take me. There is a sour note..that reminds me of fresh sweat..someone that has been running around doing errands and has just come to meet you for lunch while you get a wift of their perfume...

Love this product -I use it primarily as blush. Gives me a wonderful healthy glow. This and Bobbi Brown's Tawney is all I need. Period. This has a peachy colour to it. Very versatile, most skintones can wear this. Looks great with a tan (or to look as if you're tanned :)

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Tawny Powder Blush
rated 5 of 5
serene111 4/29/2007 11:30:00 PM

I've been using this blush for close to 10 years now. It lasts a very long time! This is good for people with medium/olive/golden complexions -not for the fair skinned (it'll look muddy). This gives me a natural "flushed" look...like I've just came back from a brisk walk on a crisp chilly fall day. I always get lots of compliments when I wear this -"Oh, you look so chirpy", "You skin is glowint" etc... I highly recommend this shade for people with skintones as mentioned above.

Fragrances -Kai - Kai

I received a sample of this from Barneys-I believe it's the perfume oil...it's a simple beautiful white floral. Not sweet, nor cloying. It has amazing sillage with only a few drops. I wasn't aware of this and used way too much the first time I sampled it, and gave myself a massive headache. Becareful with this one, it's potent! I'm sure one would receive many compliments with this. However, I don't think I'd purchase a bottle since it's not overly unique to me -but it is indeed very very lovely.

Fragrances -Frederic Malle - Carnal Flower
rated 5 of 5

If you're looking for fragrance that is unique and slightly odd..this is it. I wasn't sure about this at first, in fact my husband hated it. But I've since come to love and appreciate Carnal Flower. Before CF, I was not a fan of tuberose...but Carnal Flower has converted me! I love how this starts off so fresh-just like walking into a floral shop..than it warms into this beautiful, enchanting lushness. I'm saving my pennys for this...it's pricey.
