Cleansers -Simple - Kind to Skin Refreshing Wash Gel

This is SO incredibly drying, which is odd for me to say seeing how my t-zone is quite oily. It made my whole face feel tight, parched, and just uncomfortable. My face also looked more red than usual, probably because this sucked out all the moisture in my skin. It might work for someone with extremely oily skin all over, who knows. I really had high hopes for this considering it has hardly any ingredients in it and it's fragrance free. I'm just glad I didnt waste too much money on this. I wouldn't recommend this, there are tons of better products out there.

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear concealer
rated 5 of 5

This is definitely the best concealer I have tried so far! I use it to conceal some redness and whatever pimples I may have at the time, and it gives very good coverage. All I used was this concealer and a bit of powder over top, and my friends couldn't believe how great my face looked, they said my redness was totally gone. It also lasts along time throughout the day, even through sweating in the warmer summer months. The only thing I don't really like is that sometimes too much comes out, but that's not really a big deal. I really think it's worth the 22 or so dollars that I paid for it, considering how well it works! I definitely recommend it, it helped me feel better about my skin and it is the only solution I could really find for my persistent redness.

Moisturizers -Cerave - Moisturizing Lotion
rated 2 of 5
serenapauline 8/15/2012 2:44:00 AM

I heard alot of good things about cerave, especially this moisturizing lotion, so I went out and bought it. I have very sensitive, oily/combination skin. I break out here and there in my t-zone, never on my cheeks. My skin has became dehydrated and just overall bad over the months due to harsh cleansers/scrubs and climate. Someone suggested cerave lotion because it has ceramides and hyaluronic acid, and it's apparently non comedogenic and non irritating. The first night I put it on, it seemed to have made my skin look nicer, but I couldn't stop sneezing and I could not sleep well because my face was crazy itchy almost all night. In the morning, my face was so oily and greasy, but was still looking more even toned. I decided I wanted to give it a chance, for maybe a week or 2. The sneezing and itching for the most part stopped, but after a couple weeks use, my face just looks aweful. It's red, i'm broken out everywhere, even on my cheeks, and I have NEVER gotten a pimple on my cheeks in my whole life until now, i'm super oily and greasy (worse then ever). I just don't feel good leaving the house right now, so I can say I won't be using this again. I see it works for alot of people, I wish it worked for me, but it doesn't. It gets 2 lippies because it's fragrance free and the price was fairly good, other then that, it sucks for me. My search continues

Shampoo -TRESemme - 24 Hour Body Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
serenapauline 4/12/2012 8:21:00 PM

This shampoo is crap, that's the best way I can describe it. I bought it a couple weeks ago, I wanted a volumizing shampoo & conditioner for my thin, flat hair. I used this shampoo in combination with it's matching conditioner, I don't know if it was the combination of the 2 or what, but this was AWEFUL on my hair. I've suffered from seb dermatitis on and off for years now on my scalp, along with oiliness on certain parts of my scalp. Before I used this shampoo and conditioner, my scalp seemed to have been doing pretty good. But right after i used this, my whole hair dried, except for this big oily goopy product spot on the back of my head, that part of my hair just fell completely flat, it was aweful and disgusting, I had to wear it up all day long. i dont know what the hell happened, i rinsed it out very well in the shower. I just couldn't wait to wash my hair again and get rid of it. I washed it the next night with something else, and that oily gunk was gone. I've bought cheap shampoos and conditioners before and have never felt this disgusting before, so I don't think cheap price really had much to do with it, just cheap quality product wise. I definitely would NOT recommend this, WORST cleaning job ever!!!!. It may work ok for people with absolutely no scalp/skin issues, but if you have any issues at all, steer very clear of this

Cleansers -Boots - No 7 Gentle Foaming Mousse
rated 4 of 5
serenapauline 4/12/2012 8:05:00 PM

I love this cleanser!! I have tried probably 30+ different cleansers in the last year because my skin suddenly became really sensitive and I can't use certain ingredients (ie SLS, which is in ALOT of cleansers unfortunately). I used to be able to use anything on my face, and now my options are quite limited. this boots no7 foaming mousse was recommended to me by a coworker 5 months ago, I went and picked one up at SDM the next day, and i've been pretty much using it every day since. It foams up really well, it feels really good washing your face with it, it leaves a really clean feeling. I have an oily t-zone with redness on and around my nose, this cleanser takes the oiliness away without overdrying (it leaves a bit of a soft feeling) but it also takes some redness away too. Every cleanser i've tried with sls in it, made my redness WAYY worse, worse than it was before cleansing, but this cleanser is the best i've tried so far for reducing redness. I'm not saying it's a miracle worker, but it has helped alot. It doesn't do much for acne or blackheads, but most of the products that "help" with that, end up drying the heck out of my skin and making everything worse. This is great for sensitive, oily/combination skin, i wouldn't really recommend it for drier skins. It loses a lippie because it has fragrance in it, which has become a problem for me in the last year with alot of products, but surprisingly, this cleanser's fragrance doesn't bother me. it's fairly priced too, i think i paid 13 for it, regular 17 i think. If you're in the beauty section of a store, looking for a cleanser and you're confused which one to go with for your skintype, i would really recommend this as a starting point, it might even turn out to be your hg, just like me and the rest of my co workers

Moisturizers -Olay - Active Hydrating Cream - Sensitive Skin [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
serenapauline 4/10/2012 11:33:00 AM

I've recently needed to change my whole skin care routine to products that are good for sensitive skin (mild rosacea, nose and "wings" that flare up all the time). Olay was one of the first brands I went to because it's fairly cheap, I picked up the moisturizing cream for sensitive skin (the one in the tub). I use it at night, and the olay spf 30 in the morning. I actually really liked this. Unfortunately, on top of flaring skin, I also have an oily t-zone that nothing seems to help with, and dryish cheeks. This moisturizer helped with the dry parts, didn't make the oily parts any oilier (in fact, I think this is the best my t-zone has looked in a while for oiliness). Didn't make me breakout out either which is a definite plus. it went on really smooth and sunk in really fast (I hate the creams that never really sink in and just feel greasy on the skin) But it didn't do anything amazing for my skin either, so I went looking for other creams, that would do all that olay did for me and more, but unfortunately I just ended up breaking out or being an oily mess and more inflamed. I went back to the olay cream, because it feels best on my skin out of all the products i've tried (I've spent way too much money on high end brands and other drug store brands). I just realized that my skin will never be perfect because of my skin condition, so I just gotta use what feels great on my skin and this olay cream does. I highly recommend it for anyone with sensitive oily/combination skin

Scrubs -St. Ives - Elements Microdermabrasion
rated 5 of 5
serenapauline 3/23/2012 10:41:00 AM

This scrub is amazing! I have very sensitive, combination skin so I have to be very careful with what I use on my skin, especially scrubs. I tried the other st ives scrubs in the past when my skin wasn't that sensitive, and it was too harsh, so I couldn't even imagine using them now. So I was kind of hesitant to try the microdermabrasion one, but I am so glad I did. The scrubby particles in them are so different then the ones in the apricrot scrubs, they are very fine but lots of them. It's the perfect amount of scrub, not too rough but not too weak. It really feels like it's getting the dead skin cells off without tearing your skin. This scrub is perfect for sensitive, oily/combination skin, as it is gentle enough for sensitive skin but it also helps with oil on the t-zone, you will need to follow up with moisturizer, as it does kind of dry out my dry parts on my face. I've definitely noticed a difference in my face since using this once a week. I have red bumps on my forehead that have been there for years, and it seems to be helping that situation, and I have permanent redness on my nose area, and it seems to help it a little bit. This is great, definitely recommend, and the scent is great too, normally scents can put me off and irritate, but this isn't overly strong at all

Scrubs -Aveeno - Fresh Essentials daily exfoliating scrub
rated 4 of 5
serenapauline 1/25/2012 10:12:00 AM

I really like this, despite some of the bad reviews on it. I used this for about a year, but I wanted to try something else, so I tried a bunch of other cleansers in between, but I keep coming back to this aveeno scrub. It's not a miracle worker, but it seems to be the only cleanser i've tried so far, that doesn't break me out and irritate my skin. I have pretty sensitive skin, so I'm surprised the smell doesn't bother me, but it doesn't. I can see why it may bother other people, but I kind of like the smell. I have oily skin in the t-zone, discoloration (redness) on my nose/forehead, lots of blackheads on my nose, and this scrub I use everyday, and it seems to help a bit. I don't think any cleanser is really going to take all my blackheads/redness away, but this definitely doesn't make anything worse. And it's relatively cheap. I recommend this to anyone who has oily skin, who wants to make blackheads a little less noticeable and who isn't easily irritated to scent. It really is a great buy for the price. I even let my 2 sisters try it, and they loved it, they went out and bought their own

Cleansers -Vichy - Normaderm Daily Exfoliating Cleansing Gel
rated 2 of 5
serenapauline 9/15/2011 12:00:00 PM

I bought this at SDM a month or so ago, fairly expensive (i think i paid 20 dollars for it). I figured i'd give it a try because it has glycolic and salicylic acid in it (i have oily to acne prone skin), i read somewhere that those ingredients in a scrub would be good for my skin type. i used it a couple times a week, and everytime i used it, my skin became more red (i get some redness on my nose and forehead sometimes). it did not go away, i got a couple red bumps on my face (i dont know if it was a zit or a cut from the beads). bottomline, i did not like how my skin looked after using this, i started using the no 7 exfoliator after this and my skin looked WAY better. I do no recommend this, as it made my skin worse. the only good thing about this was that it lathered well, but no other pros
