Liquid -L'Oreal - Infallible 16hr foundation

This didn't work very well for me. It oxidized on me and it wasn't very buildable, especially because of the oxidation. When I layered up on problem spots, those spots just got darker... ick. I did like the finish and for whatever reason, some days it seemed to oxidize less than others... but it really bothered me when it did!

Liquid -Cover Girl - Clean Makeup Oil Control
semor211 6/22/2011 10:39:00 PM
This really goes to show you how different things work for different people. I know this isn't exactly a favorite for everybody, but it worked very well for me! I liked the finish, and while I wouldn't call it oil "control" it does offer a matte finish and is suitable for combo/oily skin. This is my favorite foundation, at least for now! We'll see if it ends up being HG for me. :-) And the price doesn't hurt, LOL...

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish

AWESOME nail polish. Great brush, smooth application, very nice staying power. I now have 4 different shades and I am NOT really a nail polish kind of girl. This may be upping the frequency of my at-home mani/pedis!

Liquid -MAC - Pro Longwear Foundation
semor211 11/17/2010 9:10:00 AM
I am LOVING this. First off, I've been actively cleaning out my make up and avoiding buying products with parabens. Clearly, this is not a "natural" make up product, but unless they go by another sneaky name, this product does not contain any of the common parabens in many products, so I was excited to try it since I do miss my Revlon CS and long-wearing make up in general. First off, I love the finish. It's very natural, not too matte not too dewy and in my opinion has a good deal of coverage. I would say it's medium at it's sheerest. I haven't done this yet, but I imagine you could dilute it with some moisturizer for days you want a sheerer look. I like having a fuller coverage due to some acne and scarring issues, so this is a positive for me. It is DEFINITELY long wearing, they are not kidding. It is the only foundation that has lasted well through a day of teaching school for me. I teach young children and find myself being active and moving around a lot with my students, and even Revlon CS didn't always stay put through some of that. I also live in Florida and am in hotter, humid conditions for about 10 months out of the year (even today in FL it's in the mid 80s!). I also started using this when I had a cold, and it has held up quite well through nose-blowing and watering eyes. This does mean that you definitely need to take some time and effort to remove the make-up in the evening, but that is the case with any long-wearing make up and that's the trade off you have to make for choosing a long-wearing foundation, so that does not bother me at all. I have only been using this for about a week, but so far no break outs or anything, and as long as that doesn't happen, I can see myself using this for a long time.

Lips -Badger - Tinted Lip Balm

Really like this product! I also have it in Garnet. It's a beautiful color and very moisturizing. I like that there is a soft shine. The flavor/scent was not what I was expecting, but I got used to it and I don't dislike it. Like the other reviewer said, the taste is based on the cocoa butter. Would definitely buy again, kind of interested in trying another color, too!

Liquid -Origins - Stay Tuned Foundation
semor211 10/11/2010 10:32:00 PM
I've been searching for a good but reasonably priced foundation without some of the nasty chemicals in make up and other products, especially parabens. Origins products are all without parabens and other not-so-nice chemicals. Obviously, it's not 100% natural or totally chemical free, but I'm okay with that. I like the light to medium coverage and the semi-matte finish. The color match is excellent for me and the foundation feels good all day long. I wish it lasted a little longer and covered a bit more. I will probably use this up, but I don't think I would purchase again because I want something that lasts longer and covers a bit more.

Lipstick -Origins - Rain and Shine Sheer Lipstick

LOVE this. I bought it in Sparkling Punch and want to try just about every color. I'm also very into what Origins stands for in terms of the chemicals they leave out of their products. Regardless, pretty much my favorite lipstick ever.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole ULTRA [DISCONTINUED]
semor211 10/9/2010 1:58:00 PM
I have used this for a few days and I have to say it *is* a good foundation. It lasts a long time and the color match is pretty good. I like it better than other long-wearing foundations I have tried. I gave the rating a 4 for that reason. However, I have some buyer's remorse because it was so expensive which I didn't realize until I checked out and then I just checked out anyway... and now I can't find the receipt. I'm also trying to buy more natural products without parabens, and this one definitely does not fit that bill. I might swap it.

Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Mousse Makeup
semor211 9/15/2010 2:05:00 PM
This is the best foundation for me right now. After reading Jillian Michaels' "Master Your Metabolism," I learned a lot about different chemicals and environmental toxins, so I've been trying to go more natural with things, and specifically avoiding certain chemicals, like parabens. While this is in no way a "natural" foundation, it does not contain parabens and some of the other specific chemicals Michaels suggests avoiding. I loved the regular Revlon CS for Combo/Oily, but when I got serious about cleaning up my bathroom cabinet, I had to get rid of it because of the parabens. This has been a great substitute for me. I don't have terribly oily skin, but I live in a hot, humid climate and I am very self-conscious about shininess... I'm definitely not into the dewy look, LOL. This foundation gives a nice, velvet-y matte finish without being too flat. I would call it a medium coverage. It covers well, but doesn't feel or look mask-like. It isn't very buildable, but the coverage is just what I'm looking for, so it doesn't bother me. I like the texture, but it is different and it could take some getting used to for some. It definitely stays put for me, maybe even better than the other CS. I have occasional allergy issues, and any foundation that can last through my nose-blowing and watery eyes is great in my book! EDIT: I did end up finding that I had some issues with dry patches and the foundation sinking into pores. Knocking this down to a 3. Still worth a try, especially for oilier gals! Overall, if you're looking for a long-wearing, matte foundation that gives medium coverage, this is worth checking out. I'm definitely pleased!

Tinted Moisturizer -Kiss My Face - Tinted Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
semor211 8/15/2010 10:20:00 PM
I'm very happy with this product so far. I've been reading recently about chemicals and the effects they can have on our bodies, so I've been transitioning my skin care to more natural items, and especially to items without parabens. Obviously, unless you just go bare faced you are going to put some chemicals on your skin, but I feel good about what I'm putting on my skin with this product. I'm coming from being a Revlon Colorstay user, and I have to say I think this holds up pretty well to it! in therms of finish. I love that it's oil-free -- I have combo/oily skin and live in hot and humid Florida and many natural foundations contain oils. I find that it lasts a decent amount of time, though not all day. You can wear a very light coverage, or if you need more coverage on a certain day, it builds up pretty easily. I generally wore my CS pretty sheer, but I wear this one a little thicker, so ends up pretty comparable for me. I do wish it lasted as long, however. I do feel the need to re-do my make up if I'm going out in the evening after work. It is also not as "good" when my skin is acting up and breaking out. At those times I wish it had better coverage. I can see why some reviewers were a little disappointed -- I don't know if it really is a "tinted moisturizer" as much as it is a light foundation that's good for combo/oily skins. There is definitely a matte finish and not a dewy moisturizer finish. Overall, this is a safer replacement to my Revlon CS. If you're looking for a good, light, buildable coverage foundation -- natural or not -- I recommend trying this one!

Liquid -MAC - Select SPF 15 Foundation
semor211 2/17/2010 8:43:00 PM
I had tried the Studio Fix Fluid, but found it too hard to blend and didn't think the color match was great (perhaps because I never got it to blend correctly). I went back to MAC anyway and thought I would try something else. The SA suggested this one and in the store I loved it. I took it home and I've used it a bit, and I don't love it like I did in store, but it is nice. The finish is natural, not too matte, not too dewy. The coverage is medium. I do not agree with reviewers who say it's like a fancy tinted moisturizer. I definitely get some coverage out of this. The staying power is pretty good. At first I was afraid it wouldn't be because it feels pretty moist right after you apply, but once it sort of sets and dries it lasts. The foundation does have a tendency to kind of move around a streak, but not come off exactly, it's kind of weird that way. The foundation stays on me all day and has even looked pretty okay after a run! I do touch up with powder throughout the day, and the product isn't perfect, but works pretty well. I have applied with a sponge, my fingers, and the Sonia Kashuk 187 dupe. The sponge blends it the best, but fingers or the brush give more coverage and waste less product. I'm not sure if I would buy it again due to the price and the fact that I think I still like the Revlon ColorStay better.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15
semor211 1/23/2010 8:30:00 AM
Just got matched and bought this yesterday... it seems people either love it or hate it! So far I like it. I apply it with a damp sponge which I think smoothes it out, but still gives enough coverage. I've had trouble finding a good foundation match, so I appreciated the help from the make-up artist in the store and the wide range of colors to be matched with. I do find it hard to blend, and this is coming from someone who was using ColorStay, so... Update: I ended up returning this. I just didn't *love* it and $25 is a lot of money to spend on something you don't love! Back to ColorStay for me!

Powder -Mary Kay - Mineral Powder Foundation
semor211 7/23/2009 11:18:00 PM
I love this powder. I usually use it as a finishing powder, not a foundation. I do sometimes use it alone as a foundation like on the weekends or when I'm just going to the grocery store or something. Would likely buy again when I run out... which based on the size of the packaging will not be soon at all!
