Eye Shadow -Lise Watier - Couleurs Folles
semisilence 4/26/2011 12:06:00 AM
I own this in 24 karat- a bright metallic gold, darker than Soleil and Or Blanc. It's great for highlighting warm-toned skin, but not much else. In theory it could be a decent eyeliner if you can handle the colour. However for its price the pigment is not as versatile as I'd hope it would be. Although the packaging is a FAILURE of industrial design, I will not need to repurchase, since I can hardly use this.

Eyeliner -Annabelle - Smudgeliner in Armour
semisilence 4/18/2011 8:41:00 PM
Amour is a silvery purple. A very unique colour with excellent staying power beyond the initial smudge with the spongy end. A little difficult to sharpen, but I can live with that. EDIT - colour is pretty awful for my skin tone - too cool and ashy.

Eye Shadow -Annabelle - Eyecolour Creme Eyeshadow Quartet
semisilence 3/21/2011 4:25:00 PM
I got this in Inca - a quartet of gold, reddish copper, silvery-pink, and peach. All of the colours are sheer, a little bit shimmery, and flattering. They're pretty and fairly natural-looking, except the copper, which is rather dark and really too red. The packaging is secure and compact. Later I bought another one in Coffee Talk, with white, peach, and two burgundy-brown creme shadows. All of them are very wearable, natural shades, and very sheer with a little shimmer. Frankly, I don't believe these are intended for intense pigmentation. I use a very thing layer for just a little colour, which does /not feel heavy or sticky. The shadow does not crease significantly. As recommended I later tried this as a primer before using powdered shadow on top - worked fine. I don't expect to do that often, since I'm looking for a very natural, only slightly shimmery look.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Eye Studio Color Pearls Marbelized Shadow in Mocha Mirage
semisilence 3/20/2011 5:09:00 PM
This product has a lot of sparkles, especially the pink half. It's messy, too sparkly, and is possibly the most unnatural shades of pale pink I could wear. The brown side is marginally better, though too brightly toned for my taste. There is no point in wearing nudes if they have all the sparkles of a vampire on acid. The packaging is nice looking, but the convex nature of the powder is a failure of industrial design. Overall, no.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Concentrated Duo - Wicked #818
semisilence 3/20/2011 5:04:00 PM
The bronze side of the duo is very nice - soft, pigmented, and flattering while being neither too warm or too cool. The purple is harder and too cool for my skin tone. The packaging, though relatively sturdy, isn't particularly space-efficient either. I'd rebuy for the bronze, but not the purple.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Lip Shimmer in Fig
semisilence 3/20/2011 5:00:00 PM
It's 100% natural and matches my actual lip colour. It's also a decent moisturizer. Unfortunately there's no way to screw the balm back into the tube. Furthermore the product has a tendency to be too soft to apply precisely. Once on, it bleeds everywhere. I'll stick to the original balm, thanks.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Spark It Up Gleaming Eye Liner - Ultraviolet
semisilence 3/20/2011 4:56:00 PM
The Spark it up line of eyeliners are very soft, come in gorgeous dark metallic colours, and are easily removable. In my case, the "easily removable" part is probably a plus, though I have to reline throughout the day. Ultraviolet is a metallic gray-purple. It's nice, but not my favourite purple liner, since it has a cooler tinge and is not very purple anyways. Unfortunately, these liners are difficult to sharpen.

In my case, the "easily removable" part is probably a plus, though I have to reline throughout the day. Tiger's Eye is a rich brown with red tones. I don't like the colour as much as others in the line. It's definitely a bit too bright for me. Unfortunately, these liners are difficult to sharpen.

Eyeliner -Annabelle - Smudgeliner in Purple Storm
semisilence 7/27/2010 11:04:00 PM
This is a warm medium purple-brown liner with a rubbery sponge smudging tip. On my brown eyes, it looks almost natural compared to black or blue liners. It's also dark enough to properly outline my eyes (unlike gold eyeliners, which I also like). Being a little bit purple makes it a lot more interesting and brighter than plain brown. The smudgy tip on the end is really convenient, but I'm not sure how long it will last before breaking off. I sat down in the grass and lost the cap, but I guess I shouldn't expect that much from drugstore packaging. edit: Plastic casing makes it very difficult to sharpen.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Stylish Smokes in Emerald Smokes
semisilence 7/27/2010 10:54:00 PM
For a smokey eye quad, it doesn't really deliver. All the colours are decently pigmented, a little shimmery, and soft. I like the olive green lid colour a lot. The colour goes well with my skin tone. The medium green is a cooler tone, and looks really artificial. Ditto for the light yellow because it makes me look kind of sick. The black is very pretty, but it's not really dark enough for what I'd call a smokey eye. Overall this quad just makes me look like I need a shower.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - ExpertWear Eyeshadow Quad in Chai Latte

What can I say? It's three shades of brown and a gold. Only the gold and the brow colour do me any good. The other ones just make my eyes look dull - I mean, they are just brown. On the plus side they are very natural looking and blend well together, but at the end of it all, I step back and think, "So what?"

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Designer Chocolates Quad

I liked this eyeshadow, actually. Neither the dark pink or the light pink are particularly pigmented, but they are both very smooth. Unfortunately the beige-pink makes my eyes look like I've been crying. The dark pink, however, is gorgeous. The white is a really shocking white - I wouldn't use it on my browbone as suggested, but on my waterline or the inner corner of my eyes it does a decent job. The brown is just a brown. Overall it's a pretty good natural look.
