Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Pro Airbrush Concealer Brush # 57
rated 4 of 5
scopingforyou 5/13/2013 12:22:00 AM

PROS: Haven't seen shedding. This thing really does blend concealer beautifully; although, I still like a more typical concealer brush for applying it, because I like a very narrow brush for that. But I LOVE this for blending it or smoothing it afterward. I absolutely adore the fact that this comes with a sturdy snap-on cover. CONS: The tip is quite a bit bigger than some may expect. It's hard to tell from the pic. It's more than a 1/4 inch in diameter, for sure.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
scopingforyou 5/13/2013 12:10:00 AM

PROS: No sticky film or greasy feeling after applying. Feels heavenly and light going on, but it moisturizes my very dry skin very well. Can easily wear this under makeup. NO fragrance. Retinol that is already making my dark spots a bit lighter, my wrinkles a bit less deep. Retinol will help firm skin by helping to build collagen, and I am starting to see that getting better. The retinol in this is quite gentle. I have very sensitive, mild rosacea, skin. But it is not bothered by this. The cost is reasonable for the quality of ingredients. Customer service with Paula's Choice is excellent. CONS: There may not be enough of a film of moisture left for those who want that feeling. (This truly does moisturize deeply for me, even without a film, though. Just as an extra measure of moisture during the winter, I put this on and then my beloved jojoba oil over it at night.)

Lip Treatments -MAC - Prep + Prime Lip
rated 5 of 5
scopingforyou 3/23/2013 3:28:00 AM

PROS: Best lip primer I've ever tried. Helps me stop lipstick bleeding into lip wrinkles. And doesn't dry my lips out at all. CONS: Not cheap. Also, it's not common, but it can break off, so don't "roll it up" too high. Just roll it up as high as you need to.

Lip Treatments -Neosporin - Lip Health Overnight Renewal Therapy
rated 5 of 5
scopingforyou 3/23/2013 1:44:00 AM

PROS: Where has this been all my friggin lips' life? Finally, something that is still on my lips (at least a little) in the morning. It truly does the job. CONS: It could be even better if it had just a tad of a good flavor/scent. But if they added one, I'd be afraid I wouldn't like it. Everyone has a different opinion of what a "good" flavor/scent is. My Walmart stopped carrying this. :/ ALTERNATES: For day, I like the Lypsyl (sp?) balm. I do not like the day version of this. It's a very oily/funky texture.

Moisturizers -Derma E - Very Clear Problem Skin Moisturizer
rated 3 of 5
scopingforyou 3/23/2013 1:24:00 AM

PROS: Natural ingredients. Trusted brand. This does wonders for some. CONS: The smell is horrid. My teens' acne was increased with this. ALTERNATES:: My teens' acne did better with having Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer or Clean & Clear Acne Control Moisturizer for preventing flakes.

Cleansers -Derma E - very clear problem skin cleanser
rated 5 of 5
scopingforyou 3/23/2013 1:21:00 AM

PROS: Natural ingredients. This is one of the best for my teens' acne. They have sensitive skin, but this doesn't bother them. CONS: Not the very cheapest, but it's worth it. Have to order online. ALTERNATES: Alba Botanica Natural Acne Dote cleanser or some name like that is great for them.. We like to use one of the following for any flakes that crop up: Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer or Clean & Clear Acne Control Moisturizer. PURCHASING TIPS: I get this cheaper at places like swansonvitamins.com and luckyvitamin.com.

PROS: Works great to dust away any mascara flakes after combing lashes. Very, very soft. I adore that it has a great cover that actually stays on too. Mine does not shed. Very inexpensive. Comes with a sort of a case. CONS: None for me.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Million Lashes - waterproof
rated 5 of 5
scopingforyou 3/23/2013 12:43:00 AM

PROS: Did I give a mascara a 5 rating? Yes, but reluctantly. This was between a 4.5 and a 5 for me, but I rounded up. Very lengthening and volumizing on my thin and very sparse lashes. Quite good at holding curl on my stick straight lashes. Washes off easily when removing. CONS: Can clump if you're not careful in application. Doesn't comb easily. Takes a bit of work. This flakes a bit after about 6 hours but last much longer without smearing than most do. APPLICATION TIPS: Shiseido's primer (even the new one) helps this stay on with less smudging/transfer/flaking and helps the curl last even longer. I am a recent convert to using Shiseido's popular curler too. ALTERNATES: Jordana's Volumizing mascara also gives me volume and length that lasts a long time without flaking. Rimmel's Volume Flash or Max or something like that in the pink tube is very volumizing, but doesn't last as long as this without flaking. I LOVE the nonwaterproof version of this for lashes that are just a bit thicker than this waterproof one. (But it just doesn't last this long.)

Nails -Orly - Nail Lacquer Thinner
rated 5 of 5
scopingforyou 3/10/2013 11:15:00 PM

PROS: Works great. I try one drop at a time. Love the built-in dropper. APPLICATION TIPS: I only put one drop in at a time and shake up. SOmetimes that's all it needs. ********The name on the bottle says Nail Lacquer Thinner. But Sally Beauty sells it as "Orly Polish Thinner." So who knows?************

Tools -Unlisted Brand - Beauty Secrets Manicure Cuticle Remover/Pusher
rated 4 of 5
scopingforyou 3/10/2013 10:50:00 PM

PROS: The cutting portion works very well. Love that I don't have to be afraid to cut my cuticles up too much, like with the nippers. Price is very reasonable. CONS: Not in love with the pusher portion. It's just a tad too soft for me, so I use a different cuticle pusher with a little harder plastic tip. APPLICATION TIPS: I like to use this after applying the "Be Natural Cuticle Eliminator" product.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - California Mango - Mango Magic Cuticle Treatment Oil
rated 5 of 5
scopingforyou 3/10/2013 10:30:00 PM

PROS: Love the smell. Works well to condition cuticles. I prefer the packagin that comes with a brush. CONS: Don't have any, except that I can't get this at a grocery store and have to get it at places like Sally Beauty.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Be Natural - Cuticle Eliminator
rated 5 of 5
scopingforyou 3/10/2013 10:15:00 PM

PROS: I like that there is almost no odor. I hate cuticle removers that smell like a strong chemical. Doesn't sting at all. Works well. Works very well. Good price for the size. I like that it has a built-in dropper, so I can apply this easily and neatly. CONS: None that I can see, except that I have to buy this from places like Sally Beauty cause my Walmart/grocery stores don't carry it. ALTERNATES: Sally Hansen has one that I can get in the grocery store, but lots comes out at once out of the tube. APPLICATION TIPS: I put this on and let it sit a minute and then use the Beauty Secrets Cuticle Pusher & Remover and then rinse it off.

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Daily Protection Lotion spf 30
rated 2 of 5
scopingforyou 3/8/2013 7:27:00 PM

PROS: spf30. Probably good for someone who doesn't want a lot of moisture from an spf. CONS: Kind of expensive. Leaves a shimmer on my skin. Kind of grey-toned shimmer. ALTERNATES: This brand has an spf 15 that doesn't leave any shimmer (but does make me more red). I personally love Replenix Antioxidant Moisturizer SPF 50 (in silver tube) for great moisture and spf protection that doesn't bother my sensitive skin.
