Polishes -OPI - Black Shatter
rated 3 of 5

I have been wanting this polish for quite some time due to all of the hype around it. I finally got it in a swap, and could not have been more disappointed. While this polish's effect is different and cool, I find that I would never wear this for more than 1-2 days. I work during the week and would never wear this to work. My work isn't strict on things of this nature, but I just wouldn't want any customers to see it on me. I also HATE the formula. It is thick, goopy, clumpy, and messy. Just applying it one time makes the rim of the bottle messy. I also don't like the texture it leaves on the nails. With a top coat on, you can still feel the shatter design. Without a top coat, the black shatter looks hideous. I won't say that I hate the product b/c I do think on some people it looks nice and the shatter itself is very stylish, but I do not like it for me. I will not purchase this again, and I will probably swap this away for another polish. For reference, my hands are NW20-25 and I have tried this over OPI DS Opulence, OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender, and a NYX dark purple nail polish.

Polishes -OPI - Designer Series - DS Opulence

I ADORE this nail polish! It is very smooth and easy to apply. The color is a mauvey/berry/pink with multi-color shimmer. It is so beautiful, especially in direct sunlight. If you think it looks exactly like DS Reserve, it doesn't. DS Reserve has a more hot pink base w/ no hints of berry or purple. My hands are around NW20, and my mom's hands are around NC40 and it looks great on her too. I highly reccomend it!

This color didn't do much for me. I saw some swatches of this color on many people, and it GORGEOUS! So i went out and bought it, and couldn't be more disappointed. The color is a maroon w/ some purple and brown undertones. On my skin tone (NW25-30) it looked too brown. Like a rusty maroon. I didn't like it at all. On my mom (NC40) and sister (NC44) this color looked great.

I hate this color. It looks like a chalky green on my nails and is not flattering at all. 2-3 for it to be completely opaque and I don't like the brush. On some people this color looks very pretty, but on me it looked horrible! Never buying again.

I don't like this nail polish at all. The color is pretty in the bottle and on some people, but on it me it doesn't look good. It takes 3-4 coats for it to be completely opaque and the brush is very small. I won't buy this again.

Hands down my all time favorite spring color! I adore this nail polish. Its is very opaque; only need two coats. Has a pinky tone to it, so its not quite lavendar, but not quite pink, Two colors meet beautifully in the middle. You can't go wrong w/ this color. I would wear this year round!

Polishes -OPI - Do You Lilac It?

Second runner-up to my FAVORITE purple nail polish!!! It applies really great; two coats to make it completely opaque. The color is a lavendar/lilac with some grey undertones, but not too much. Really great color for spring, but I would wear this color year round.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Medium
rated 5 of 5

This is a really great product. You can use it as a setting powder or as a very light foundation for those days when you just need to put something on that looks natural and walk out the door. I wouldn't reccomend this as a foundation for those who need to cover up problem areas like acne scars, redness, rosacea etc.

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Perfect Topping [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
sccs26 4/30/2011 10:39:00 PM

I have wanted this product for quite some time, and I finally got my hands on one. I have to say I was a bit disappointed w/ this product. While it is absolutely GORGEOUS in the pan, i find it to be a normal highlighter. If gives you a nice glow, has no chunky glitter, very fine shimmer, and easy to blend. I will not re-purchase this due to the fact that it just isn't unique enough on the skin. If you don't own a highlighter, I would definitely get it if you can your hands on it. I feel like you can find highlighting products all over the place from many different brands both low end and high end. If you are not a collector, don't waste your money and go with a cheaper highlighter.

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Petticoat [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
sccs26 4/30/2011 10:35:00 PM

I have a love/hate relationship w/ my particular Petticoat. I have one w/ LOTS of raspberry veining. This is a highly pigmented product, so I need to use a VERY light hand when applying this. I don't wear it often due to all the veining, but the light pink base of this product is very beautiful. It gives a nice pink glow to cheeks and has pretty good pay-off if you are fair to medium skin toned. If you are darker, you will most likely use this as a highlighter. I wouldn't purchase this again b/c to me the raspberry veining is what makes it unique, but that unfortunately is what I dislike about this product. If you can get your hands on one w/ minimal veining, I would say definitely purchase it, and if you find one w/ lots of veining, I would say its very beautiful in the pan, but be prepared to work with it if you are very fair.

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle
rated 4 of 5
sccs26 4/30/2011 10:26:00 PM

I bought this b/c at the time I did not own another highlighting product for my face. The color is champagne (pink undertoned). There is no chunky glitter in this product, but there is LOTS of shimmer and fall-out. It is easy to blend and give a very nice glow. When swatched it does look like a pinky/champagne, but it will not show up on your face like this. All you will see is a glowy shimmer. You also need to use a very light hand with this because it can make you look like a disco ball when too much is applied. I feel you can find another product that does the same job for cheaper. I will not re-purchase this product b/c I find I don't use it enough to buy another, aside from the fact that I most likely won't finish this product for many years.

Highlighters -MAC - Skinfinish-Stereo Rose
rated 3 of 5
sccs26 4/30/2011 10:21:00 PM

Originally, I bought Stereo Rose b/c of all the hype and the reviews ppl did on it when it first came out. I did not buy it the first time it came out, but I did buy it when it was repromoted w/ the In the Groove collection. When I saw pics. of Stereo Rose from the original collection it came out w/, it looked STUNNING! It was a light coraly/pink w/ some bronze veining. However, when it was repromoted w/ the In the Groove collection, it changed to a very deep coral color w/ bronze veining. I still bought b/c it looked like a pretty color. When I got home and put it on my cheeks, it was too coraly/red. There wasn't enough pink tones in it for me to make it work. I would reccomend this to those who like very warm blushes in the deep coral/almost red-orange category. Personally, I would not purchase this again. If MAC repromoted Stereo Rose and it looked like it did when it came out around 5 years ago, I would buy it.

Highlighters -MAC - by candlelight
rated 5 of 5
sccs26 4/30/2011 10:09:00 PM

This is a really great product. In the pan it looks pinky/champagne, but when you swatch it, it has a peachy/pink sheen to it. It does not have chunky glitter, it has a very fine shimmer to it. The texture is very smooth as well. It is very light so I use it as a highlighter. You could also put it over matte pink toned blushes to give it a healthy glow. I personally wouldn't buy this again b/c I only use it as a highlighter, and I have too many highlighters. It is very pretty, however, if you only plan on using it as a highlighter I would not say it's a must have if you already own perfect topping, soft and gentle, shimpagne, or any other highlighters.

Makeup Brushes -Sigma - Essential Kit - Make Me Blush
rated 5 of 5
sccs26 4/30/2011 6:27:00 PM

I really love these brushes. I know many people compare them to the MAC brushes, but I won't be doing that b/c I only own two MAC brushes, and I don't have the Sigma dupes for them. These brushes are really great. They work GREAT and are awesome quality. The price is a little steep for those on a budget, but for the amount of brushes you are getting, it is a great deal. You can purchase these brushes individually if you only want a few to try and don't want the whole kit. I bought the whole kit, and i don't use every brush, but I do use most of them which made the purchase for me worth it. When you wash the brushes, there is minimal shedding, and two of them bled a little during the first wash (big powder brush and stippling brush). When you first open your brushes, there is no foul smell. I know many people are bothered by that, but these brushes do not smell. They are also EXTREMELY SOFT before and after you wash them. They feel very good on the skin. If you are looking for amazing quality, SUPER SOFT, great deal brushes, I definitely reccomend them. You can get the complete kit in 4 different color handles I believe, and it comes with either a brush roll or container. You can get these brushes on sigmabeauty.com

Lip Gloss -MAC - Cremesheen Glass-Fashion Scoop
rated 4 of 5
sccs26 4/30/2011 6:15:00 PM

Cremesheen glass lip glosses from MAC have a really great formula b/c they are not sticky. It smells like vanilla -which i love- and it comes in a few different colors. Fashion Scoop in particular I bought b/c it was a very close color to NARS's Turkish Delight. It is a milky baby pink w/ a little bit of shimmer. The difference between the two is Fashion Scoop comes out a little more milky than Turkish Delight, which is why I gave it a 4. It is a little to milky for me, so I wouldn't buy it again. The color payoff is not great which is another let down for me. However, the formula is great, it smells good, and if you've been wanting Turkish Delight, but don't want to spend the money, you could get this and have a very similar color for a much cheaper price.
