Lip Gloss -NARS - Turkish Delight
scarlettateight 10/26/2010 7:19:00 PM
Honestly, I can't wear this alone at all. It's much too pale, pale cotton-candy pink (silly) and I don't like its uneven coverage. However, it makes a fantastic gloss over lipstick--over NARS Dolce Vita, the effect is gorgeous (I also like it over MAC Total Wow). Does this make it worth buying? Probably not.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco in Gabrielle 19
scarlettateight 10/26/2010 7:08:00 PM
I adore red lipstick. It's hard to maintain, though--I don't know Dita and Gwen keep it looking so perfect. That's where Chanel Gabrielle comes in. No, it won't last all day. But it goes on looking like heaven and is so easy to re-apply--almost like a gloss, but the coverage is so amazing and the color is, well, perfect if you're looking for a real glamour red. Unlike NARS or MAC reds (which I love but they take a lot of maintenance), it's comfortable to wear, and no need for a liner; just apply and go. You won't feel that dry, matte feeling for which other reds are notorious. Furthermore, it wears off evenly so you don't look like an aging vixen after you've eaten. If you are looking for a classic, easy, gorgeous red, Chanel Gabrielle is the one.

Powder -Lauren Hutton - Aqua Elements mineral powder
scarlettateight 11/5/2007 7:57:00 PM
Since my skin is so very dry, I've rarely worn powder in the past, because most powders make me look like a mummy by mid-day (not really, but you get the picture--they're too drying). However, I love the initial effect an application of powder over foundation has: matte, even, smooth. So. Well, Lauren, I love this powder. It goes on lightly, evenly and invisibly, but one achieves that nice finish. Plus, the packaging is fabulous; the top part of the case holds several different shades of concealer! And, when I ordered, I received a nice brush as well--not sure if that's still an option/offer. No, you can't see it. It's a finish, not a cover-up (that's why you use foundation, right?). Anyway, here's what I do (when I'm feeling make-uppy). Start with Prescriptives Magic (red neutralizer), then Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, then YSL Touche Eclat under my eyes (I like the texturebetter than LH's for under-eye area), use LH's concealers on any red spots or age spots), then LH's powder. Perfect (well, almost ;-) ).

Concealers -Almay - line smoothing concealer
scarlettateight 11/3/2007 4:02:00 PM
No. Spend some money and get yourself a good concealer--I recommend YSL Touche Eclat or, if that's too much, Clinique Airbrush. This is muddy, doesn't blend well, and disappears in, like, two seconds. No.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer- Smashing Color Adjust

No. While I did like the foundation this product set on my skin, it did nothing to overcome my redness or other imperfections. I am now using Prescriptives Magic Illuminating Potion Red Neutralizer and am much more satisfied with the way my skin looks (see review).

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
scarlettateight 1/28/2007 3:47:00 PM
Last Exact makes your lashes look naturally long and thick. I love the brush, which applies the product evenly and with perfect coverage. One thing I don't like is that Lash Exact will occasionally flake. But my lashes look so good all day so I am willing to take a sec and brush away any mid-afternoon flakes below my eyes to have such great-looking lashes. I've tried and liked the following mascaras, but Lash Exact is better. Maybelline Lash Discovery Maybelline Great Lash Mascaras I haven't liked: Lancome L'extreme Lancome Definicils Clinique Naturally Glossy

Highlighters -Prescriptives - Magic Illuminating Liquid Potion [DISCONTINUED]
scarlettateight 1/28/2007 3:34:00 PM
This review is for the Red Neutralizer color (02). I use it under Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, and the result is very natural. I have fair skin with rosy cheeks and freckles (and some age spots developing, which I really want to hide!),and this combination evens out my skin and gives a very smooth, healthy look. I have dry skin, so any "glow" the Magic imparts is appreciated. On my less dry days, I might add a little Prescriptives powder on my cheeks to obtain a more matte finish. The bottling is very frustrating, though, so I agree with other reviewers that a pump would be much more efficient and a lot less messy. Thus the four, not five, lippies.

Moisturizers -Olay - Definity Correcting Protective Lotion with SPF 15
scarlettateight 11/17/2006 7:10:00 PM
I bought all three products--deep penetrating foaming moisturizer, intense hydrating cream and correcting protective lotion--and have been using them, as recommended, for eight-plus weeks. Nothing: no changes in my spots, no "luminosity." Do not waste your money on this product! Use a basic moisturizer (I like Olay's Total Effects) or get thee to a dermatologist for 4% hydroquinone or retinol.

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Dry Skin Therapy Plus Intensive Repair Creme
scarlettateight 10/20/2005 9:57:00 PM
I suffer from the driest skin, and winters (I've always lived in the north, where winters are harsh and DRY) are especially painful. This is my holy grail--the difference is significant (in the past, I used Keri lotion and then Nivea Oil). Best of all, it's affordable and widely available. HIGHLY recommended: this really works.
