Liquid -Bourjois - Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation

I am in love. General background of me and my skin condition: 17, Southeast Asian with medium-tan skin, strong yellow undertone, acne prone, fussy skin (sometimes slightly oily but these days it's just Sahara dry). I'm MAC NC 35-40 and I use this in number 55 which is slightly too pink but given the fact that it's sheer-medium, I can still tolerate the lack of yellow tone in this particular colour. I love this. I haven't tried a lot of foundations, my previous favourite is MUFE FnB but it's really sheer and requires a brush to put it on, but it gives the same dewy finish. I love this Bourjois HMS because it feels so lovely on the skin and when I put it on with my hands, it's second-skin like. But the finish is what makes me fall for this stuff and I fall hard. It looks soooooooooo smooth! I swear, no dry patches are emphasised and I'm very flake-prone. It doesn't break me out, it doesn't make me look like an oil slick and it holds up really, really well. The fact that it feels almost like nothing on the skin, applies very easily and has a lot of sheen to it are ticking all the boxes that I have. It's very affordable and I actually prefer this to my MUFE and it's half the price of MUFE! Only thing is, my shade isn't available in my country but I've already stocked up so... For those who like smooth, baby-butt-like skin and dewy finish, I highly recommend.

Polishes -L'Oreal - Beige Countess
rated 5 of 5
sayakhansa 4/22/2013 2:03:00 AM

I love L'Oreal's polishes. I think they're absolutely brilliant, gorgeous colours, funky brush, amazing pigmentation. I used to always use Revlon polishes but they're so thin and streaky, plus, the narrow brush sucks! L'Oreal, on the other hand, is fantastic. Beige Countess is definitely a fuss-free colour for when I want my nails to look good. Crazy colours are great but this nude-ish pink is so easy to wear, it goes on so smoothly and dries pretty fast. I usually only use 2 coats of this and I'm good to go. Will repurchase

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation

This has coverage, people! I, in general, love MUFE. And this foundation is pure love to me. I have medium dark skin with really strong yellow undertone, I am also quite acne-prone, clog-prone and I have combination-oily skin but my skin can also get really, really dry (I know, it's weird). In MAC, I would be along the line of NC35-37, but even NC35 is not yellow enough for me and MAC is known to put strong yellow undertones in their NC bases. I wear the shade #34 and it's a spot-on match! Now, on to the coverage and performance. This has coverage and I wasn't expecting that much coverage when I bought it, my skin at the moment is not at its best since I have some hyperpigmentation and uneven skin. I use a really, really small amount and I buff it in using a kabuki brush, and voila! Perfect-looking skin! I use the tiniest bit of concealer over darker marks and an extra layer of foundation on my dark circles, set it with a powder and this lasts me 9 hours! I didn't even look all that shiny and I live in sunny Indonesia, not to mention I'm a very active college student who often has to run around the campus and this stays put on me. I tend to get oily by mid-day but I didn't when I had it on, and my skin just looks beautiful with it on. This also doesn't further clog my pores or break me out, it's just pure love. I don't like foundation with SPF and this is perfect for daytime wear worn over a layer of sunscreen or for night time because it doesn't have SPF. I highly recommend this to everyone with combination skin, it has a dewy finish but when set with a light loose powder, you can get a satin finish and a real looking skin. PS: this is a great undereye concealer for me for it doesn't crease AT ALL.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner Gel Dipdown
rated 5 of 5
sayakhansa 2/21/2013 10:04:00 AM

I love my cat-eye flicks but black eyeliner tends to look "too much". I wanted a product that can be used as cream eye shadow, as brow filler and eyeliner (I know, I'm a fussy customer) and this is it. I don't have sparse brows but I like to fill the ends of my brows to make them look even and I have dark brown - almost black hair which makes this a good brow colour for me. As an eyeliner, this looks natural on me without having to sacrifice my liking for cat-eye flicks. This has a great staying power and I like to use this to define my eye socket. Will repurchase.

Lips -TheBalm - Stainiac in Prom Queen
rated 5 of 5
sayakhansa 2/21/2013 9:52:00 AM

Before I begin, I'm not the kind of person who cares about what people say about what I put on my face. BUT, I have very pigmented lips, almost like the lips of a smoker except that I don't smoke. I hate it when people ask me whether I smoke or not because my lips are dark, I have med-dark skin so supposedly it's normal for me to have pigmented lips. I want to camouflage my dark lips but I hate lipstick and the way it sinks into every invisible fine lines on my lips, I want my lips to look naturally red. This is brilliant. It is drying, but this stays on for hours and it doesn't look matte or glossy, it just looks normal on my lips. I combine it with my trusty L'Occitane Pure Shea Butter as my lip balm to combat dryness and no one asks me if I smoke. This feels comfortable and it can also be built-up but this is perfect for me to wear on a day-to-day basis. The only thing that I hate is the packaging because the label rubs off after a couple of months but I think it's due to the fact that I keep it in my pencil case to make sure that it's always with me. I love it, it's just one of those never-fail products that you can always rely on. Will repurchase and this will forever stay in my pencil case.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto - Waterproof
rated 5 of 5
sayakhansa 1/23/2013 12:48:00 AM

Okay, I'll admit. the first thing that attracted me the most was the packaging. It's sexy, sturdy, black and red. Like the Louboutin of mascara. But, luckily, the good thing doesn't stop there. It adds massive length to my mediocre lashes. My lashes are OK, not too long, not too voluminous. They're plain OK. You can still see that I have lashes even when I don't put mascara on but this gives me super long lashes! I only put a couple of coats and the length it gives is phenomenal. The price is OK, the formula is creamier than Maybelline's Cat-Eye mascara and I quite like the brush. It doesn't weigh my lashes down. Only thing is, it's not that good for bottom lash because of the brush but for the length it gives, it's forgivable. I just need to be extra careful when putting it on my bottom lashes. Overall, it's fantastic and I'll definitely buy this again.

Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - Super Matte Loose Powder
rated 4 of 5
sayakhansa 12/23/2012 12:58:00 AM

I would say.... I like this powder, but I don't love it. I have oily skin, that's for sure and this prevents me from getting oily for about 3-4 hours. The thing is, it can look a bit too powder-y despite stating how soft and silky the powder is, it can also make me look super dry. It's expensive and you don't get a lot of product, so I would say I won't repurchase.

Sunscreen -Biore - UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen
rated 5 of 5
sayakhansa 11/26/2012 7:46:00 PM

This sunscreen is pure <3 ! I previously used SkinAqua but I lost it during a hiking trip and felt like SkinAqua tends to feel a bit oily on my skin so I was quite unwilling to repurchase. I stumbled upon this sunscreen and immediately purchased it without doing any research because I was in a desperate need of a new sunscreen. This sunscreen is a dream. Watery, light, cooling and fast-absorbing. It makes me feel like I could apply as much as I want because it dries down matte. I sometimes mix it with a bit of concealer to give my skin a bit of a tint. This is everything that I want from a sunscreen. High spf, non-sticky, this is holy grail.

Powder -Make Up For Ever - Duo Mat Powder foundation
rated 2 of 5
sayakhansa 11/7/2012 9:16:00 PM

DRY. DRY. This is admittedly my very first powder foundation. I got the colour 209 which makes me look like an oompa loompa within a couple of hours. This can be confusing, when first applied, this goes on chalky, powdery and heavy. A few hours later, I would turn into an oil slick. Ick. I don't get all the love. I've tried using a kabuki brush and wet sponge, dry sponge, whatever. It's still dry, chalky, yet it makes me greasy in a few hours. The coverage is pretty good but it slides off very quickly. Will never repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - 100% Pure Shea Butter
rated 5 of 5
sayakhansa 11/7/2012 8:54:00 PM

this stuff is a miracle for a lip balm hater like me. I despise lip balms, yet I have dry chapped lips but I hate the waxy, sticky feeling of lip balms. This is non-sticky, non-scented, not overly glossy and very moisturising. This also has no petroleum, which I'm not too concerned about but it's the icing on the cake. I also use it as an eye balm and occasionally all over my face when I'm having an allergy. I have the large tub and I've had it for nine months. Might repurchase the smaller tin. Lovely product, for sure. EDIT: I love this thing. It's become somewhat an essential in my daily routine. As a lip treatment, this is the best to put before (and after) lip stain. And, I have combination skin. My skin dries out very easily but is also quite oily, I get flaky skin on my cheeks and I would use it to moisturise those flaky parts. I would safely secure this as my holy grail beauty balm. The fact that it would probably last until I get married 10 years from now is an added bonus :)

Polishes -Revlon - Peach Smoothie
rated 4 of 5
sayakhansa 8/17/2012 7:28:00 AM

I have a love-hate relationship with this polish. First and foremost, formula sucks. Not the worst but it's pretty runny and it takes quite a few coats to get it opaque. But, the colour is beautiful! I used to be a fan of "louder" nail colours, I always bought either black or bright red but now I want a subtler nail colour and this one is beautiful! It's got glitters but not so pronounced and I love that it's kind of a nothing-y shade, like... Your nails but better shade, I have pretty grubby nails and for some reasons my hands look a bit more feminine with this polish on, for that, I love this. I might repurchase but Revlon, do consider thickening the formula a bit :)

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Full Cover Concealer
rated 5 of 5
sayakhansa 8/10/2012 5:54:00 PM

Possible holy grail concealer!! I LOVE this concealer! I'm a 17-yr-old teenager with occasional pimple and spots, on top of that I have nasty hands and I just can't not claw those spots off of my face so I have quite a significant amount of blemish marks on my cheeks. The colour that I use is #8 which is quite a dead-on match except, it's a tad too pink for me but the tiniest amount can cover a lot. I also use this for my under eyes and it doesn't crease or crack. I don't use a lot of makeup on a day to day basis but this is an absolute must have. I apply it with a damp sponge or fingers, it works great with both. It is expensive but I feel like it's so worth it especially if you have vile under eye circles and blemish marks because this covers them like a dream. Will repurchase again. And again.

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
rated 3 of 5
sayakhansa 8/7/2012 10:24:00 PM

I finally found out that I'm somewhere between NC30-35. NC30 is too light, NC35 appears decidedly orange on me, I wish they'd come up with NC32/33 because I love this concealer! It's like a thick cream that's super easy to blend, I have some minor blemish marks and this covers them effortlessly. I tried using it for my under eye circles, and it doesn't crease at all. It also stays put despite the many time I wash my face with water, I tend to wash my face a lot during the day and this doesn't come off. I have normal to oily skin but this doesn't slide off and transfer. I just wish they'd come up with a wider shade range because I love this. Would repurchase, probably NC30 next time. EDIT: sad to report that I have to deduct a lippie. It's not by any means bad, it doesn't break me out either. But unfortunately, this makes me look so dry. I have combination skin and even after exfoliating, moisturising, etc, it would just cling to dry patches, making me look like I have scaly cheeks. I don't know if it's because I've had it for so long that the formula has turned dry but it just doesn't cut it anymore. won't repurchase :(

Treatments -Kerastase - Oleo-Relax Serum
rated 4 of 5
sayakhansa 7/16/2012 9:23:00 AM

I like this serum but I don't love it. It's pretty lightweight and helps me retain the volume of my hair. To my nose, this serum smells fantastic, floral but not the kind of annoying floral that reeks. I only need a tiny bit and I usually air dry my hair, this helps reduce the dry look but it doesn't always wow me. This is terrifyingly expensive but I assure you, this lasts a good amount of time. I've had it for about 7 months and it's not even halfway gone. I wouldn't repurchase because I'm quite convinced there might be better serums out there.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
sayakhansa 7/16/2012 12:12:00 AM

I love it!!! First of all, it comes with a brush, which is very handy. Second, it stays put. I've used eyeliner with better staying power so I didn't expect much but it doesn't smudge. It does flake but flaking is better than smudging. It's waterproof and the colour is quite intense, it's easy to remove which is one of the things that I love about this liner since I've gotten really fed up with my gloopy, inky, messy MAC Liquidlast. The price is not bad, not the cheapest but it works and that's enough to make me happy. Will repurchase.
