Moisturizers -The Body Shop - SPF 15 Daily Moisturizer with Vitamin C

I was surprised to see how many people where on the fence about this moisturerizer as I love it! I love the citrus-y smell and I feel like the cream is the right weight- creamy and luxe w/o being greasy and overly thick. I have been using this during the day along with some of the other Vit C Body Shop products at night and I really feel like my skin is in good shape. Plus it has SPF 15 :)

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Nerium AD

I tried this fully expecting it to be prettily packaged snake oil. I didn't really expect much which is why I was so surprised when I really do feel like my skin looks better! I'm actually sort of bummed cuz this means I have to do something with this knowledge.... In full disclosure I am in my mid-30's and have generally good skin. I have some fine lines around either eye and also between my eyebrows. I didn't take very good pics when I started using the product because like I said, I wasn't expecting much. I used it for a week and saw little difference. The person I bought it from urged me to try it for an additional week, and lo and behold my skin has improved. The lines are smaller and less noticable. A few people have asked me if I am using a new foundation or something because my color looks better. Oy....so now I have better skin but a decison to make; should I just buy the product or consider selling it? It IS a bit pricey (altho fairly comparable to other hi-end anti-aging products) so getting my product for free is tempting. Not to mention I know a lot of people with far more established skin problems than I have and I'm excited to recommend this to them. So I'm considering becoming a brand partner but we'll see about that. In the meantime I can say (begrudingly) that yes Nerium did work for me! I may update this if anything changes in the future...

Polishes -Butter London - Artful Dodger
rated 3 of 5
sassysnark 7/25/2012 6:24:00 PM

I really like this color. Its a gorgeous auqa blue with grey-ish undertones. This is my first Butter polish and it was a gift...not yet sure if I would be willing to plop down $14+ for a nail polish. I really love the color but the formula had it's pros and cons. Seemed to dry really fast which is kind of a good thing but that also meant it was difficult to brush on w/o streaking. It seemed almost...sticky or something. But in its defense I will say I am wearing a full manicure now with not one chip so maybe they are doing something right!

Treatments (Eye) -L'Oreal - Lash Boosting Serum
rated 5 of 5
sassysnark 2/22/2012 12:01:00 AM

I bought this after reading the surprising decent reviews this serum got here at MUA. I would have uessed this was just some waste-of-money gimmick. I bought it along with the lash boosting mascara as a set for about $12 at Target. I have been using the serum faithfully for about 2 weeks now and I have to say I really do see a change! My lashes seem to be growing longer; usually they'd get to a certain length and then they would fall out. But I have had almost NO lashes fall out since I started using this. I have fairly sensitive eyes but I have not really had any irritation with this product. For a $12 investment I really can't be happier!

Nails -Unlisted Brand - Red Carpet Manicure System
rated 4 of 5
sassysnark 10/4/2011 6:30:00 PM

After getting gel manicures with Gelish polish down at the salon I came to 2 realizations; 1. that I LOVE have my nails done with gel polish and 2. that I would soon go broke if I had them done all the time at the salon. Additionally, I have a baby and it's hard for me to carve out the time to even get to the salon in the first place. Ulta recently started selling their version of 'gel polishes' along with a UV cure light called Red Carpet Manicure. I will say that it is a bit (OK...a lot!) harder to apply than the nail technician at the salon makes it look. For some reason the gel colored polish seemed to pull away from the edges of my nail so it was like I had a large patch of polished nail with a perimeter of unpolished nail. I found that the quicker I stroked on the gel color and got my nails under the light to cure, the less of this "spreading out" of the polish happened. The light is dirt cheap- only $20. Truthfully I would have paid a light bit more to get something a little more hi-tech. I really would have liked something to plug in instead of using AA batteries. But even though the light seemed pretty flimsy it worked and my nails are just as strong and glossy as they were when I had them done professionally! The paint job isn't quite as good as I am still getting the hang of it. But it's a pretty small investment if you find yourself wanting to have the gel polish applied often. One nice thing; it's easy to go back and fix small dings and once cured the "fixes" look seamless. I haven't tried using the Gelish brand polishes with my RCM light yet....will update this review when i do. Over all, I'd say I'm pretty happy with the system!

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Hand and Nail Harmony Gelish Gel Polish
rated 5 of 5
sassysnark 8/24/2011 3:06:00 PM

I just had my nails done with a "gelish" manicure over this past weekend. My friends had been raving about this so I figured it was time to try it myself. I should say that I never get fake nails and that I always keep my nails bare or done with clear because the chipping makes me crazy. My natural nails are fairly strong but have become weak lately becuase I wash my hands so much (a curse of new moms!) The process took a while to do but I guess it wasn't much longer than a normal manicure. The results are fabulous; Shiny pretty nails done in a dark pink I would never normally dare because of the chip factor. I love the fact that there is nothing about these that look "fake" as I really don't care for fake nails. My nails feel strong and they will continue to grow so this will actually allow me to achieve some length. I am on my 5th day of the polish and no chips so far! After not having the time to maintain my nails since my son was born, I am just so tickled to have pretty nails again! My salon charged $30 which was a bit pricey but I'm willing to pony it up for a while. If I decide I am truly in love with Gelish I may buy an at-home kit but I will worry about that later. In a word: LOVE!

Polishes -OPI - Black Shatter
rated 5 of 5
sassysnark 6/1/2011 3:27:00 PM

It is so refreshing to use a beauty product that actually does exactly what it claims to do!! This works like a charm and looks so very cool. It is admittedly very thick and therefore a bit hard to work with but it's nothing the average person can't manage. I'm a fan! Now....how does this compare to the OPI "Blasted" polish I wonder.....?

Polishes -Sally Hansen - salon effects
rated 5 of 5

I tried the leopard print and I have to say I'm impressed. I've gotten a lot of compliments and most people think I went to a salon to have the done. I think I paid $8.99 at target for this set. Expensive....but not too bad for a once-in-a-while treat. I followed the directions carefully and made sure I had gotten off all my old clear coat and swiped my nail liberally with nail polish remover before I applied these. They went on very easily! So far I am on day 3 with no chips or dings; I will update this review if the nails go south on me too soon. The tips are looking a little worn but I think it's b/c of the way I filed them. I might apply a clear top coat at some point to see if that extends the wear. But for now they look great....and I type all day and have a baby at home so I'm hard on my nails :)

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 - Malt Shake
rated 4 of 5
sassysnark 5/15/2011 1:47:00 AM

This is fabulous gloss and at a super price. Unfortunately it is in the worst tube ever made! The applicator part of the tube separates from the body of the tube and the gloss leaks out...every time! I bought a 5 pack of these glosses and yup, every one...same thing. Leaked inside one of my nice purses and made a big mess. So disappointing because the gloss itself is really great.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
rated 1 of 5
sassysnark 10/22/2010 12:40:00 AM

This mascara was awful. It did nothing but cause my lashes to clump together and it coated them with some sort of nasty residue that was very difficult to remove...even with makeup remover. I think I lost some lashes in the process of trying to get this crap off. Usually I would just use a product up, chuck it and then not buy it again. But this stuff had me running out for something, anything, to replace it. Do not buy!!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Passions of Red: 6 Smokey Eyes (Holiday 2008) [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
sassysnark 11/10/2009 6:35:00 PM

I am not one to buy into the MAC hype but I thought this compact would be great to keep in my desk at work for days I am running late. I really thought I would love this compact but it's very eh. While the very dark shade in brown and dark grey are very pigmented, the other colors really don't have much color at all. I was counting on using primarily the medium and light colors b/c I am very fair and the super dark colors are generally too dark on me. Just not at all impressed with the quality of the shadows. (But I do think the compact is very cute!)

Lip Gloss -MAC - like venus Dazzleglass
rated 3 of 5
sassysnark 7/15/2009 1:49:00 PM

This was my first Dazzleglass purchase and I like it OK. The smell is lovely (as with all MAC glosses) and the color is beautiful in the tube. But the color is only so-so actually on my lips- pretty but not as spectacular as I was hoping for. My main complaint with the dazzleglasses (all of them) is that the tube is bigger than it is for some of their other glosses but only about half full. This really irritates me for some reason! Don't try to fool me into thinking I am getting more product for my money by putting this gloss into a larger tube, and therefore box, only for me to get home, pull it out of the box and realize I've been had! Annoying and a dirty trick in my opinion!

Gels/Soaps -Caress - Evenly Gorgeous
rated 4 of 5
sassysnark 7/9/2009 3:02:00 PM

I was excited when I heard about this product and was not disappointed once I finally got my hands on it! The smell is super yummy- sweet but not cloying. Its a rich smell- not a plasticy or fake vanilla. Love! I only wish there was a little more scrub to it. But I love it enough that it is my new fave body wash!

Bronzers -LORAC - TANtalizer Body Bronzing Luminizer
rated 4 of 5
sassysnark 4/21/2009 3:43:00 PM

I had read about this product somewhere and decided I had to try it. And I think I am in love! The color is just right- a bit of color and lovely sparkles. I had brought something sort of similar from Victoria's Secret a year or two ago and it was waaaay too dark and thick. It had to be "watered" down with normal moisturerizer in order to use it at all and was a thick, gloppy mess. This is everything I wanted the VS stuff to be- light, pretty with a nice (but not overwhelming) smell. The only bummer is that it is $30 a tube which I think is alot. I've only used it a couple times but I can tell alot goes a long way. So hopefully I won't go thru the tube too quickly.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Posietint
rated 4 of 5
sassysnark 1/16/2009 3:46:00 PM

I have to say I love this stuff. I didn't think I would at first as I was scared by how neon pink it is. And I have used the regular BeneTint before with mixed results. But this gives me an amzing natural flush that stays all day long. Its expensive but I can tell it will last forever. Sold!
