Makeup Brushes -Bloom - Blush Brush
rated 2 of 5
sassylass11 9/29/2012 11:35:00 AM

I bought this because of all the glowing reviews but I really didn't like this brush. When I applied blusher it would go on streaky and didn't blend blush well. It was ok not rough but not the softest brush i've used thats why i haven't given it one star but two Maybe its just me- blush brushes all seem to be paddle shaped (like a thicker foundation brush) and i prefer the old doomed brush that you swirl into the blusher. Anyway it didn't cost mush i think iy was £5 or £7 but i no longer have it. It went into the bin,

Mascara -Bourjois - Volume Glamour Ultra Curl
rated 4 of 5
sassylass11 8/15/2012 5:10:00 PM

Bought this by mistake usually use volume glamour. This had a curved wand. The formula seems to be the same but i didn't find the curved wand did anything different from the normal wand, plus the wand broke after a weeks use- this has never happened to me in the 17 years of applying mascara. I'll be going back for the plain volume gamour- if you want curls buy an eyelash curler it will be much more effective.

Eye Shadow -Boots - natural collection solo eyeshadow in milk chocolate
rated 5 of 5
sassylass11 8/7/2012 11:47:00 AM

I originally bought this eyeshadow to use on the crease, but it was a warmer brown than i expected. I now use it as a matt bronzer, the red tones warm up my skin and the shade is definately brown and browner than most bronzers I compared this to in Boots. It definately shows up on my olive skin but looks very natural/subtle. The price is a bargin as well!

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Studio Cream Shadow in Dawn
rated 5 of 5
sassylass11 8/6/2012 2:59:00 PM

I selected this shade after reading reviews on makeupalley, since it sounded like it would apply well. I would call this a beige-gold. The consistency of this cream shadow is different to any other cream shadows I have ever tried it's drier and harder so you need the warmth of your finger to apply it. I love that it gives a natural look and would look good on any skintone. You could also build ithe colour up too. It hasn't creased on me yet.The colour lasts all day, yesterday i wore it from 11am-11pm.It's cheap and easy to apply. I read reviews saying the packaging was bulky but I didn't think it was a problem until I got it- yes it does take up alot of room in a makeup bag or box. I think the sleek black lid and extra plastic was supposed to make it look classy as if it was made from thick glass, but in reality it's very clumbersome. Also the label that tells you what the colour is, is absolutely tiny- the sticker is like a smaller version of stickers that come on apples and the font is tiny.

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
rated 4 of 5
sassylass11 8/6/2012 2:30:00 PM

I usually dab this on with the doe foot applicator but once I used my fingers and I understood what some of the other reviewers were saying- it feels really oily and a bit icky (so i try not to touch it) It's counter intutive that you would put on something oily to eliminate the effects of oily eyelids- but it actually works! I first tried it for a friends birthday. Usually I expect my eye make up to fade and smudge from day to night but my makeup looked fresh and my eyeshadow looked exactly how it was when i first applied it. My eyehsadow did not budge. This is the first primer I have tried and so I can't compare it to others. I am wary of trying other brands as I have sensitive skin so need to be careful. I love that this is gentle on my eyes and is paraban free. I gave it a 4 for packagaing as while it functions well it's in a no frills tube. I also love the price- a bargin compared to other brands. i I have knocked a lippie off though because while this keeps my eyeshadow in place it doesn't seem to make eyeshadows look any brighter. But i would definitely repurchase.

Makeup Brushes -Louise Young - LY38B tapered shadow brush
rated 5 of 5
sassylass11 7/17/2012 10:01:00 AM

This brush is excellent. I have small eyes and small space between eye and eyebrow- and this is a smaller, thinner crease brush- it allows precise blending of colour in the crease without blending it all into one muddy patch that spreads over your whole eyelid and cheek like sone thicker crease brushes can do. This is well made, without shedding once. I use a brush guard to retain the shape. I may go and buy another one!

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Superliner Perfect Slim Intense black
rated 5 of 5
sassylass11 7/15/2012 12:05:00 PM

I created a different category as the nib of the felt tip sounds alot thiner, thus allowing you to be really precicise when lining. It's very quick and easy to apply. I get thiner lines than using a standard liquid eyeliner The price is great for such a wonderful product. It's a very pigmented black which doesn't fade and is long lasting. (I'm not sure it holds up in hot weather as the weather in UK is constantly raining even tho it's summer.) It makes applying eyeliner fool-proof. However I don't know if it's waterproof tho.

Makeup Brushes -Bloom - Flat Eyeliner Brush
rated 1 of 5
sassylass11 7/7/2012 7:36:00 PM

I hated this brush. Why? because it hurts when you use this! it's like poking yourself in the eye. The bristles are firm and stiff-perhaps that's needed for an eyeliner brush but this was so stiff it hurt. It was scratchy as well. I bought this to push line/tight line my eyes (effectively pushing the eyeshadow into lash line or using the flat of the brush to stamp a line so you look like you have longer lashes) This was not possible and even using it as a normal eyeliner brush hurt. This went in the bin.

Eyes -E.L.F. - 32 shadow palette
rated 2 of 5
sassylass11 7/7/2012 12:35:00 PM

I got this free with my first E.L.F purchase. Rather than impressing me I was really disappointed. At the time I was looking for a nice matt beige/neutal eyeshadow (tried sleek in the end) and used the peach eyeshadow first. It disappeared one hour after applying- this was indoors at home on a cool day it wasn't like the heat melted it or anything. I used the golds too and it was the same. Ironically this free gift almost turned me off buying any E.L.F products again, I was about to purchase 2 of the beauty encloypeadias, thank goodness i didn't. However I kept it thinking that it would stay on with a primer. I'm using ELF mineral primer and it's lasting most of the day which is good. I've tried the pink, browns, greys but yet to try the blues, the glittery ones (which doesn't really appeal to me) and rest of the palette. I would say that the design of the palette is fairly good- it's not flashy and i didn't find it hard to open at all and it has the bonus of a mirror placed on the lid at eyelid level which is very handy. It's also quite light to lift and carry. The colours are generally placed together in colour groups ie all the greys silvers toegther. What I have found is that the quality of the eyeshadows is fairly poor-they are chalky and powdery (I got eyeshadow in my contact lenses which has only happened 3 times in 10 years.) The chalkiness makes it look cheap too. I was using a flat brush to pat down the eyeshadow on the lid which is a good method to adopt but you have to use more eyeshadow that usual to build up the colour. Also most of the colours have a silver sheen to them which i quite like but was not expecting. I'm glad I didn't chuck this out as there is a good range of colours but I would recommend others to check out MUA shadows which are really cheap £1 an eyeshadow and £4 for a palette and much better quality. I won't be buying their powder shadows again but like their studio cream eyeshadows.

Eye Shadow -Boots - Stay Perfect Eye Mousse Vanilla
rated 4 of 5
sassylass11 7/1/2012 6:09:00 PM

This is a good cream eyeshadow, it stayed on all day without primer. I bought this as an alternative to the bourjois cream eyeshadows which made my eye lids sting. This is hypo-allegenic and i had no trouble it's very gentle on my lids. I bought this a year or maybe 18 months ago and because of the tube packaging it hasn't dried out at all and appllies evenly on the lid although is a little crumbly but totally usable. (drying out seemes to be a problem in packaging made from glass) It's easy to use (and fool proof (i use my fingers) and gives good coverage and is very pigmented. I gave it a 4 for packaging and price as the tube is small for what you pay however i'm told it will last me a long time. I think I bought this with a boots £5 off voucher so for £4 this is wonderful. However the colour is very bright and i probably wouldn't repurchase. I would like to find a darker gold perhaps from MAC. Perhaps i need to experiment with using brown eyeshadow on top to tone it down. I have used this for a blake lively bright eyed look but don't see myself reaching for this colour regularly, I prefer the other colours in the No. 7 collection such as fudge and plum.

Blush -The Body Shop - Lip & Cheek Stain
rated 1 of 5
sassylass11 7/1/2012 5:05:00 PM

I got this free with a magazine so I can't really comment on the price. But i'm not very impressed with it- this is the second liquid blush I've tried and I don't think I like them much- powder and cream are easier and cream the most natural looking. It goes on blotchy. On lips it goes on very uneven and blotchy although the taste/flavour is nice and the result is lips with 'just eaten cherries' colour- it defintetely shows up as a stain but also appears very natural and not overdone. However it made my lips sting and tingle which i did not enjoy at all and I have other products and there are lots on the market that give good results without the unpleasent tingling sensation.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Cosmopolitan Maximum effect lash curler
rated 5 of 5
sassylass11 6/10/2012 2:48:00 PM

Wonderful for curling lashes. Better than Boots and only a few pence more than ELF's. I have standard lashes I think so I'm not sure if it will suit asians/all people. Used heated with a hairdryer leaves them looking more dramatic. Have used mine for years. Watch the packaging when you first unpack it ,there's a white strip holding the the handles together which ping/spring apart when you remove it. It comes with two replacement pads as well

Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - Expert touch gel grip tweezer
rated 5 of 5
sassylass11 6/10/2012 2:44:00 PM

- Ergonomic body design for added control - Perfectly aligned, hand finished slanted tips - Stainless Steel with color finish I bought these when I found my fingers straining/hurting when I used Boots tweezers. The wide circle allows you to grip easily and comfortably and the gel/rubber grip supports your hand. These are very sharp and precise tweezers making it easier to pluck brows even the tiny hairs. I'd heard of Tweezerman tweezers years before in all the magazines but always thought they were overpriced and not worth the hype. But these are definitely worth getting- although pricey (I think mine were between £18-24 from Boots 3 years ago.) They still work out cheaper than two or three threading sessions vs three years of use. Last words -Small but powerful and pink!

Cleansers -Nivea - Fragrance free facial cleansing wipes
rated 5 of 5
sassylass11 6/10/2012 1:39:00 PM

I was so glad when these came on the market. I loved the Nivea wipes for dry/sensitive skin but these fragrance free wipes are much better for my asthma. I always come back to this if i've tried another product as it sorts my skin out as it is gentle on my skin. They come in packs of 25 wipes and I often use them for correcting make up mistakes as well as cleansing my skin. When I use these to take make up off they never sting my eyes (unlike Simple wipes) and it removes waterproof eye makeup too. They feel refreshing and soothing on the face. They are a bit expensive compared to some wipes/cleansers but they are often on offer in superdrug/boots/tescos etc.

Deodorants -Vaseline - Aloe fresh 24h protection anti-perspirant deodorant
rated 5 of 5
sassylass11 6/10/2012 1:23:00 PM

This is an anti-perspiration roll on. It is good value for money and lasts ages. I think I buy three a year and wear it daily all for £1.49. I have sensitive skin and vaseline and aloe vera does the job well. It smells fresh and clean and works. EDIT after a year this stopped working for some reason. I have switched to Dove Deodorant
