BB Cream -Skin79 - Super+ BB Cream Pink Label
sarahlen 8/28/2012 10:01:00 AM
I have used a fewwwwww bb creams in my day, a bunch of asian ones That dont even have any english writting on them a few drugstore so I can't name names........alll of them have been a'ight but skin 79 pink label is the first one I ever used and the best, I also use the gold (silver?) label and cant tell a difference between the two. To me its more coverage than all the rest and the texture is superb....others tend to have a real greasy and/or sunscreenish chemical feel were as this just feels moisturizing and feels like it seals your skin in a good way, to me it just makes my skin feel fresh and plump not greasy or dry. It also doesnt break me out were others definitley did

Toners -DDF - Glycolic Toner 10%
sarahlen 8/28/2012 9:51:00 AM
This is really expensive and I did loose a whole 50$ bottle because the cap came open and it spilled all over my bag but besides that i really love this toner! It is harder than you think to find a toner with a decent level of glycolic acid and minimal ingridients.... for me right now and my skin issues of the moment (hormonal acne)....this is more effective than weekly peels as Im getting like a mini mini peel every morning and night when I use it. I don't know about controlling acne Im using BP for that, but It is fading my marks as I use it morning and night. I dont find it drying but i'm a long time actives user

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Panoxyl 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Bar
sarahlen 8/1/2012 6:00:00 PM
if you are dealing with persistent acne run do not walk to get this! in the past 4 months I have gone from perfect skin to semi-severe acne. found out I have a hormonal imbalance, def going to correct that . But while I'm waiting to see doctors ect I was looking to at least control my oil and acne with skincare but absolutely nothing that had controlled any of my minor acne in the past was working ( MUAC peels, retina, Acne.org treatment, neutrogena stress control, aspirin mask, sulphur masks). they are all great products but I knew my skin was beyond their help. I bought this on a whim in the U.S. as I had never seen it canada and I am beyond thrilled with it. I hardly write reviews anymore but this is the only thing that has even touched my acne and oil. I also let it sit on my skin for a minute and found this works even better. oh also It took about a week or 2 to see a visible difference. my only gripe is the bar sucks and is messy but I'm too scared to switch to the cream formula. My skin is definitely not back to normal but this is the only thing helping

Polishes -Sally Hansen - NO CHIP 10 DAY NAIL COLOR
sarahlen 12/28/2011 3:43:00 PM
Ok this does take forever to dry, like the longest of any polish I have ever used but it goes on nice and clean without streaking and is the only polish that trully lasted a good week without chipping which for me is def worth the extra drying time (drying time reduces with a quick dry topcoat i have found) about the colour, I have only tried a pearly red but it was very pigmented

Fragrances -J. Lo - Miami Glow
sarahlen 11/28/2011 3:09:00 PM
first cant comment on the bottle because I just bought a roll on of this. The smell is a really great day smell and to me very clean smelling. The way i describe it is laundry tropical. It kinda smells like tanning oil and laundry sheets. Ethier way i never find it heavy makes me feel clean and fresh yet lasts

Cleansers -Garnier - Moisture Rescue Fresh Cleansing Foam
sarahlen 10/1/2011 6:58:00 PM
I wish there was a maybe option because i might buy this again. A lot of people are comparing it to purity for half the price and I can see that. I think its because like purity it cleanses thoroughly without drying skin out which Is great and it is like only 8 dollars compared to what 30? (However purity is probably more concentrated). I actually have to say that my skin felt a little bit softer than it does with purity but that brings me to what i don't like about it. I think it leaves skin feeling softer because it coats the skin and i personally don't want/need that. I like my skin to be squeaky clean nothing left behind (but not dry). The second thing i don't like about this is it stung my eyes like crazy any time i got it near them, when I say crazy i mean crazy. Probably because of all the heavy fragrance. If it was as gentle as purity on my eyes I would switch to save money.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Million Lashes
sarahlen 10/1/2011 6:49:00 PM
First the packaging is nice gold , looks good out and the brush looks like it wouldn't be clumpy looks like it would volumize but other than that I really didn't like this mascara. It was very clumpy to begin with. Yeah it volumized my lashed but made them look very spidery. I also don't have to work too hard to curl my lashes, this curled them way to much so much that they actually ended up looking very short and just unattractive. I like more of a straighter look for me because straighter=longer. will not be buying again much prefer my maybellines, the falsies, one by one and full and soft.

Primer/ Corrector -Sephora - Skin Smoothing Makeup Base
sarahlen 10/1/2011 6:42:00 PM
I got a free sample of this recently. and i also used it about 6 years ago when primers became popular. This time around it felt just as nice and made my skin so smooth for makeup however a couple days later my usually clear skin broke out into cystic acne. 3 very hard under the skin pimples the kind that never pops, feel/ look more like bug bites and takes weeks to go away. I have had almost identical bouts of breakouts with other face products so maybe its the silicone or another ingredient but my skin doesn't like it.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Sibu-Repair and Protect Daytime Facial Lotion
sarahlen 9/18/2011 11:01:00 AM
Cannot recommend this enough! have been telling everyone I know about this. I had heard on doctor oz and read in a magazine that seabuckthorn oil is the new thing for treating acne and redness. I had done some research and this Sibu brand stuck out. First they have a very informative and helpful website with a world-wide store locator. Second their products looked nice, luxurious, not typically au natural. Also i saw them on the shopping channel and they seemed really ethical. while doing groceries I saw this and the pure seed oil on sale and picked them both up they were like 14$ each which in my opinion is a steal because they have made the biggest difference on the look and feel of my skin. My acne is pretty under control through a very balanced internal and external routine but i still have a few rouge pimples. This made my breakouts go from almost non existent to totally non existent. I was scared it would do the opposite because this does contain sheer butter and some other oils but the first ingredient is seabuckthorn oil which i can attest really does prevent and fight acne. The thing i love most about this it torches pimples but actually calms your skin. Its had an enormously positive effect on my natural redness. Not to mention this really moisturizes but not in a way were your skin feels greasy or feels moisturized it just feels like your skin with nothing on it but 10x softer And it smells really nice and orangish. I am not the brand loyal type but i think these products have changed my mind. Im ready to go out and buy their whole line!

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Towel
sarahlen 7/9/2011 5:10:00 PM
I Bought one of these yesterday from Japanese Beauty in J-town and so far Im really impressed. FIrst they are pretty cheap , about 4 dollars for one and i have a feeling if you took care of it one would last a while. I first used it gently on my face with a cream cleanse, my nose got kind of burnt and was peeling i would use scrubs (sugar, st ives) and even washcloths and my face felt smooth but as soon as it dried there would still be flakes. This leaves my face completely flake free and very soft and its great for the body too. used it in the shower on my back which has been kinda dry and a bit bumpy from the sun and it was like baby skin after.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
sarahlen 6/26/2011 2:12:00 PM
in a cleanser i want something that will cleanse my skin without completely stripping natural oils (which can lead to over production and breakouts) or just straight up breaking me out with pore clogging ingredients. This is why i generally stick with cheaper drugstore hypoallergenic cleansers because I'm not looking for miracles just for something that cleanses without problems. I didn't want to like this because its expensive and i thought the hype about it was pretty stupid and that people were just being swayed by marketing, and that it was the same as any old foaming cleanser when it comes to skincare especially i think most of it is fluff. however this really has surpassed my expectations and checks all my cleanser boxes. It does have a strong smell but its nice and I really don't find it irritates my skin like other cleansers fragrances. My skin doesn't feel dry or tight or on the flip side greasy it just feels clean and balanced and thus it hasn't broken me out . I can say good stuff about a few other cleansers but i have to work them more. like they take two rounds to remove makeup and completely clean my skin or the addition of an eye makeup remover or washcloth. This removes makeup very well on its own but i do use it with my clarisonic. Like i said i didn't want to like this and I still like my other ones but I find myself reaching for this most often because its simply convenient. Also i got this free well my mom did but i think I will re buy without cringing because its so concentrated its worth the money and time spent at sephora as you probably need to buy only one a year. Its been since february and I'm not even half done the full size. If you think about it that way its actually extremely cheap and convenient. Not to mention it feels and smells nice and looks cute on your counter which is something it makes me want to cleanse at night instead of just falling asleep. I recently started using another drugstore foaming cleanser just to try something new with horrible results! I never thought i would have a philopshy product in my regular routine but im sticking with this. I didn't give it a 5 because maybe theres something just as good with some antioxidant power or some natural acne fighting stuff like zinc, clay or sulphur or something (thinking of trying sulphur soap) but I'm not taking a chance!

Cleansers -St. Ives - Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser
sarahlen 6/26/2011 11:44:00 AM
This product is way too harsh/synthetic. I bought this because green tea really agrees with my skin but not under a mountain of chemical solvents and fragrance i wish i had read the back more carefully! this actually really reminds me of hand soap, it smells just as a strong and is just as harsh. My skin reacted badly not only did it look red and irritated but it caused an oil overdrive. My skin was so oily and i started to get massive pimples. fragrance or solvents are not always terrible but in this cleanser the combination of both in spades is not good in my opinion. This honestly discourages me from trying new things on my face because my skin wont be back to normal for at least a couple weeks!

Eyeliner -Physicians Formula - Eye booster eyeliner + serum
sarahlen 6/25/2011 11:47:00 PM
First its not so easy to get the liner flowing into the brush sometimes you have to press the brush which screws up your line. Also because the liner doesn't flow so easily when you try to go over the line again the brush actually can take off colour whether wet or dry which can be a pain when your in a rush. i found shaking a lot and getting started on your hand helps. Most of all I'm upset because i didn't completely close the cap one morning and it totally dried out. Also buy ultra black. I re-bought in just black, thats all the store had and its not black enough. The brush may be a plus for some and i think the shape is great but for me the stiffness makes a straight one swoop line almost impossible as its not flexible enough to glide on the lash line. What i do like is that this lasts all day long with no fade yet comes off fine . this works better than most liquid liners in the waterline as its kinda a drier formula. What i love is that when i use this i do see longer thicker lashes which is why i keep using it

Pressed Powders -Revlon - PhotoReady Powder - Fair/Light
sarahlen 6/25/2011 11:34:00 PM
First the packaging is so big and bulky and impossible to put in a makeup bag. Secondly the colour is ok but this is a moot point when there are actual visible sparkles in your powder Im not talking about tiny little specks that read as glowy or luminous on the skin I am talking about one hair away from glitter. Also this does nothing to mattify and actual seems to produce more oil. The only plus is that it looks ok in photos but in natural lighting absolutely awful

Skincare - Face -Bliss Labs - All Types Lid/Lash Wash
sarahlen 4/30/2011 6:48:00 PM
This is very very mediocre. I got this at christmas and I have seen a few laying around my family's house in my mom and sisters bathrooms. Either my mom got convinced this was amazing at sephora or it was some kind of sephora reward haha. i didn't pay for it but I'm sure its not cheap which bugs me because i feel like you could get the same results with a lotion. Its like a lotion in that it just sort of makes the makeup movable and doesn't desolve it or liquify it like others which means taking off your makeup is going to take longer. but unlike a lotion or vaseline or oil it is extremely non clogging and irritating and you don't get any kind of eye fuzziness or blurriness. If all other makeup removers irritate you or break you out or don't agree with your eyes and you have money to spend on it and time then by all means this is for you. Im just gonna keep it around to to fix makeup mistakes when other makeup removers would remove to much and would ruin surrounding work.
