Palettes -Stila - Perfectly Sage Palette Fall 2005
sara09 12/1/2006 3:22:00 PM
I’m in love! I was so lemming this one and was very excited when I got it on a swap. Colors have been already described by other reviewers, I will just add that the light base shade is a gorgeous muted ivory with gold undertones, a very unique shade imo. The blush is awesome, too, a nude neutral that pairs beautifully with the eye shadows, it’s also very pigmented and has good lasting power. I wore this palette today with Stila Jane on my lips and it completes the look nicely. Overall, there’s nothing I don’t like in this palette: should I say that the packaging is the cutest?

Masks -Avene - Instant Soothing Mask
sara09 11/26/2006 6:54:00 AM
I tried this in a generous sample size and I got instantly hooked: I have very dry sensitive skin and this stuff leaves my face so soft taking away any dryiness. I have been using Clarins Thirst Quenching mask for years but I'm seriously thinking of switching to this one: it's not as thick as Clarins and I love the smell much more; most of all, my skin seems to like this one better. And it's cheaper too. This product cointains Avene water (which I love) and oils, so it may not suit combination skins.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss - Nude Lustre
sara09 11/20/2006 5:24:00 PM
I love Revlon super lustrous l/g: they have an amazing, non sticky long lasting texture and a nice price tag. This one gives my very pigmented lips just a hint of pink and a lovely glossy finish. One of my staples! [NW 15-20, brown hair and eyes for reference]

Eye Shadow -Shu Uemura - IR Green 945
sara09 11/20/2006 12:46:00 PM
I was looking for an e/s that would be just in between olive and forest green and this is it! It's more on the olive side though, but hasn't too much gold or yellow in it. No obvious glitter as well, just a soft beautiful shimmer: this shade makes my bown eyes pop! Texture is blissfully silky as other Shu e/s, I think they're just the best on the market!

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
sara09 11/19/2006 3:07:00 PM
I just wanted to add my voice to the raves: this stuff rocks!!! No more eye shadow fading with this underneath!! I'm so happy that even the most finely miled e/s, which didn't last more than one hour on my dry lids, now are perfect all day long! The only downside is the strangely shaped packaging: a lot of product goes lost, but I must admit that a little goes a long way, I just need one wand coat for both eyes. A tip I got from a sweet Muaer: when it gets thick, add just a drop of saline solution.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Vex
sara09 11/19/2006 1:41:00 PM
Love love love this e/s! I have this as a part of the tailormade warm palette, and i'm thinking of buying Holiday 2006 Smoked palette because of this e/s. Vex is rather unique, you wouldn’t find a similar color anywhere else. It's a duocrome complex shade that’s not easy to describe: it looks just meh in the pan, but when you apply it’s oomph! I would say color it’s whitish gray, but I see a lot of silver and some green and pink in it too. I use it all over upper lid and often pair it with some shimmering taupe in the crease (with Stila Diamond ‘Lil it makes a stunning combo) but it’s such a versatile color you can use it with virtually every shade: everytime it gives such a sophisticated and beautiful look! A staple is my e/s arsenal. [For reference, I’m NW 15-20, brunette, brown eyes]

Eye Shadow -Stila - Shadow Pots Eye Mousse in Iris
sara09 11/15/2006 3:05:00 PM
This is my favourite of all Stila shadow pots: it’s not as frosty as the others and has the same soft, long lasting texture I love. Iris is perfect for a polished and classy look, and has the just the right amount of shimmer to make it a complex colour without the overwhelming sparkling effect. Shade has been described by other reviewers: a nice dark purple. I especially like that, unlike most of mauve shades, it has no red in it. This can be brighten up with a light e/s base underneath: one of my favourite combos is shadow pot in Taupe all aver the lid, this one in the crease, ad MAC Prunella as a liner. I apply it with a thin eye brush and the result is beautiful. I love this e/s and I will repurchase.

Eyeliner -Bourjois - Regard Effet Metallise 53 Feuille de cuivre
sara09 11/5/2006 7:10:00 PM
What a great discovery! I must say first I’m personally not a fan of Bourjois mu: their e/s seem rather chalky to me and the rest just meh, but after testing this new pencil eye liner I had to purchase it. “Feullie de cuivre” is a gorgeous shimmering light bronze, almost gold: it has a creamy texture that glides smoothly, and, most of all, it stays put all day long. Shade is quite light but it shows up very well on my pale skin: to say it briefly, this is everything I wanted MAC Powersurge to be. Speaking of comparisons, imo this is even better than Shu drawing pencils, at half of the price tag. I will check other shades for sure.

Blush -Shu Uemura - Glow on in P Amber 81
sara09 11/5/2006 7:07:00 PM
Great quality here. This is a matte biscuit brown with lots of orange undertones: definitely a warm color but I think it would suit most of skin types, looking fabulous on medium dark complexions. I feel so classy when I wear this one as the finish is so polished and it gives such a beautiful glow. Staying power is great to, it lasts all day long on me with minimum fading. Product is VERY pigmented (actually this is the most pigmented blush I have ever tried) so be careful with application if you don’t want to look like a clown.

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint Eyeliner -Navy Stain
sara09 11/5/2006 7:04:00 PM
Love love this e/l! One of the best Power Point I have tried, and I own many. This is a true navy blue shade that really makes my brown eyes pop. It glides smoothly and has remarkable lasting power: it can actually be applied on the water rim without any fading. Great colour and quality, will repurchase for sure.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Starlight Eye Shadow
sara09 11/5/2006 7:02:00 PM
I can't believe I haven’t reviewed it yet: this is my all time favourite Stila e/s and one of the very few I actually hit pan on (the other one is Mac Retrospeck). Starlight is a shimmering light pink/whitish shade, a complex duochrome colour that’s not easy to describe: I can see a lot of silver in it too. It makes a perfect base for pinks, mauves or taupes, but it’s especially good for highlighting; anyway it’s so versatile you can use it in many different eye shadows combos. Texture is soft and finely milled like the best Stila shadows, and staying power is pretty good as well. If you like shimmering eye shadows, this is a must have imo.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
sara09 11/5/2006 11:51:00 AM
To tell the truth, this mascara was a disappointment: I purchased it after hearing all the raves and the magazines statements who put it next to Ysl Faux Cils: now I can tell that there’s no comparison ever, YSL being so much better than this one. First of all, the brush is HUGE and rather messy to use: I have rather big eyes but this brush would only fit a giant owl eye shape. Secondly, it totally misses the movie star effect it claims to give: yes it does lengthen, but it lacks of visible volumizing results and doesn’t curl at all. So far it isn’t clumping, though, but I will update the clumping part after some weeks usage. However, imo this mascara is not worth neither the price nor the hype. If you’re looking for a true dramatic effect, forget this one and go for YSL Faux Cils instead!

Primer/ Corrector -Clarins - Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch
sara09 11/4/2006 11:24:00 AM
OMG, I don't know how I managed to live without it before! I'm in my early thirties and I'm starting to have a few undereye lines :( , but when I apply this stuff under concealer they disappear completely. I also use this on my nose pores before applying foundation, and application turns out smooth as silk, while pores look much less visible. As other reviewers have noted, this is not meant to be a full face primer, you just tap a small quantity on your undereye area and critical zones of your face. I'm not a fan of the jar packaging as it's a bit unhygienic, but all in all this is another winner product from Clarins and I will repurchase in a heartbeat as soon as I run out.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - moisturizing foundation
sara09 11/1/2006 10:42:00 AM
I had previously written a so-so review of this fndt, but boy I was wrong! At first, it seemed to me it made me look dull, but this is what happens just immediately after application. However, after less than half an hour, the overall effect is just polished and beautiful! The finish is neither matte nor dewey, just satin. I still can't notice the moisturizing effect this stuff claims to give, though, but I have to admit it's not drying as well, and I have very dry skin. Love the pump dispenser!

Eye Shadow -Stila - Shadow Pots Copper
sara09 10/29/2006 8:04:00 AM
Why this is called copper is beyond me: I was expecting a bronzey shade and this is a pale peachy orange with lots of shimmer. Anyway, it's a lovely summer color, which can be worn alone as a wash or applied as a base under darker shades. I love the awesome consistency of Stila eye mousse, it lasts all day long without fading or creasing. And I cherish the pretty packaging as well: I have tiny fingers so it's not a problem to reach the little glass pot and apply as much product I need.
