Pressed Powders -BeneFit Cosmetics - Get Even
sapiosexual 11/12/2012 4:49:00 PM
I gave this product a 4, does it deserve a 4? Likely not. And here's why: Benefit's get even powder is a god send for me. It brightens my complexion, and it makes for a wonderful touch up powder should I need to do so later on in the day. Why then, if it's as wonderful as I say, do I insist it does not deserve a 4? Why, because it's a discriminating powder. This baby only works for the sallow skinned in my experience. The tones in this powder are so distinctly yellow, and while my Asian skin finds no issue in that, I fear pale porcelain skinned beauties with pink notes in their faces will find this powder lacking to say the least. I speak from experience, my best friend is frightfully pale and adorably red cheeked and pink skinned, this powder made her look like she was dead, like she was wearing a mask, like she'd just taken a horrific chemistry exam, like someone had stolen her car. The feel is wonderful, but when I review Get Even, I must take into account its distributive abilities, which in this case, is limited at best. If you have pink notes in your skin and find this works for you however, that's great! It just didn't work out for anyone pale and pink in my personal experience.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in See Sheer
sapiosexual 11/11/2012 9:17:00 PM
This lipstick is the one I wear when I look tired, or beaten, or dead. I love the coral pink red shade of this lipstick, it never fails to bring my face to life. The lustre formula is not my favorite, as I find it tends to exacerbate the dry buts on my lips, but see sheer is a happy exception, and doesn't seem to irritate me as much as my other lustre lipsticks. I am so glad this baby is part of the permanent range, or I might be tempted to shell out half my living expenses for a lifetime supply. This is an everyday, pick me up lipstick, and I'm sure I'll be purchasing it time and time again should I run out.

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Ever Hip
sapiosexual 11/11/2012 9:13:00 PM
Oh Ever Hip, how I wanted to love thee. Now don't get me wrong, I do like ever hip, hence my four star rating, but its definitely not a love-love relationship here. The way I feel for ever hip is the way I feel for cherry jolly ranchers, one of my favorite candies, certainly not my favorite flavor. But twas not the shade of this beauty that set me off my rocker, as you can see its a wonderful creamy peach/pink/coral lipstick, a shade type that almost always sets my heart a-flutter. No, it was the texture of this lipstick that makes me reach my other lipsticks instead. Ever Hip is slightly more tacky on my lips than I anticipated it to be, so I find I don;t wear it as often as I'd like as it exacerbates any dry bits. It's a shame really, I do love the shade to bits and pieces. I wear Ever Hip when my lips have been moisturized and exfoliated, and if I was more inclined to regularly care for my puckers, this baby would have gotten a 5.

Lipstick -MAC - Amplified Creme - Girl About Town
sapiosexual 11/11/2012 9:02:00 PM
This is my power pink. I wear this baby when I prepare for war, or physics class. The pigmentation and feel of this lipstick is, hand over heart, nothing short of heavenly. I bought this on a whim, while shopping of my friend: the enabler. To be honest, had she not even been there, I likely would have made the purchase anyway. I had not, before this point, ever been a bold lipstick wearer, and now I can't get enough bold pinks, loud oranges, and bright hot reds. This lipstick was, allegorically, my gateway drug, I'm proud to say I'm addicted, so much so that I contemplated running back to Mac and purchasing another tube, despite knowing that it's part of the permanent range, and that as such it was unlikely going to be unavailable to me once my original tube runs out. The slip of Girl about Town is perfect. It has a creaminess to it that leaves my lift feeling like they are being caressed by cherubic angel wings, while not having so much slip as to feel like a gloss. This baby wears and wears, leaving my lips slightly stained afterwards so that it's bright and gorgeous even after a meal, which I love as I don't want to have to worry about touching up so often, and I get hungry roughly every 25 minutes. On rainy days [and sunny days and cloudy days and foggy days] I like to wear this lipstick love with dewy skin and a slick of mascara: gorgeous and effortless and posh and perfect. This darling makes me feel like a queen, and I'll definitely purchase it again.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Wear Infinite Quad - Autumn Leaves
sapiosexual 11/11/2012 8:53:00 PM
My first thought upon opening and trying on this product was "whut". I've no idea if this was just me, but the pigmentation was nearly nonexistent on my skin, and I'm fairly light. I waver anywhere between NC20 and NC25. I was disappointed and would not buy again.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
sapiosexual 11/11/2012 8:17:00 PM
I bought this as an everyday alternative to my beloved Estee Lauder Double wear. It's comparable, and while it doesn't last nearly as long on my skin, the discrepancy can be attributed to the massive price difference so I'm not complaining. I find the consistency of this foundation to be rather thick, and you need to work it into the skin. I love to buff in my foundations so this isn't a problem for me, however, you might find it an issue if you prefer to slap on your make up and run out the door as I am wont to do on those late days. The packaging is lacking, it has no pump and can therefore be quite irritating to work with, as a result, but DW suffers from the same packaging issue. The bottom line is: for this price, this foundation is worth it, and I can totally see why it's such a favorite among beauty lovers everywhere.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
sapiosexual 11/11/2012 8:13:00 PM
I love this foundation. It's a full coverage liquid that seems to be a favorite of oily skinned ladies, but I find it performs well on my dry skin as well. The coverage is touted on the Estee Lauder website as medium and build able, but I find it to be full. It doesn't transfer when buffed in correctly, doesn't emphasize my pores, and doesn't seem to oxidize throughout the day. The packaging is standard and mildly irritating, with no pump, but I can live with that. It's a bit heavy during the summer time, but wears well and comfortably if I sheer it out. I love this foundation for formal events because it gives me that flawless finish. I've repurchased it twice in my lifetime, I do believe I'll repurchase it again and again in the foreseeable future.

Highlighters -TheBalm - Mary-Lou Manizer
sapiosexual 11/11/2012 8:06:00 PM
I bought this product only recently and I'm already head over heels for it. It's a wonderful champagne gold, and as such would very much suit warmer, more sallow skin tones. I do find however, that it works beautifully on cooler, pinker skin tones as well. It's fairly shimmery, so use a light hand. The most notable comment on this piece however, is that it's massive. This beauty weighs in at a hefty 8.5 grams [0.3 ounces]. That fact alone makes this product an absolute steal. The amount you get for your money is equivalent to that of a powder foundation or a pressed powder compact. Ultimately, I love this product and would buy it again, but I doubt I'll ever have to even if I use it everyday for the rest of my life.
