Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge NEW FORMULATION
rated 2 of 5
sangrmahlia 6/28/2012 7:00:00 PM

I literally weep for pot rouge because the old formulation has been my staple for years. This new one is NOT as silky and blendable, not near. The consistency is a bit runny but sticky at the same time; it's like a watered-down version of the old one, thus the color payoff is less than before and it has lost the characteristic creaminess that I really, really, REALLY adore from the old formulation. It doesn't deliver at all if I work it between my fingers, and then it's just impossible to apply after that. So... yeah. I will say that the new packaging is more practical than the old one, but I'd gladly give the practicality for my old pot rouge back.

Styling Products -Oscar Blandi - dry styling heat protect spray
rated 5 of 5

This product is expensive but I will be restocking because I can see, feel and even smell the difference when I blow-dry my hair with and without it. I had terrible depigmentation (my hair used to be jet black but after meddling with heat styling it turned slightly brunette, so sad) and about two weeks after using this every time I blow dry my hair I started noticing it has become darker again. Also the end result is very smooth and shiny, and I had none of those burnt smell after. The only downside is it smells a bit like my floor cleaner. I have had this for almost three months now and have been using it very sparingly because a little already goes a long way for me (on my first try I think I overdone it because it's a spray and I didn't really feel it on my hair but later I learnt using a small amount is good enough). I'm not sure of its holding ability because I'm only using it for a straight blow-dry.

Treatments (Eye) -L'Occitane - Angelica Eye Roll-On
rated 4 of 5

I used to swear by Clinique's All About Eyes depuffer roll-on, but this one works as good if not better, and it doesn't sting at all if I use it more than once a day. It's also very hydrating without being too oily. Feels like ice water with slightly gooey consistency.

Skincare - Face -Avene - Thermal Water
rated 4 of 5
sangrmahlia 4/2/2012 6:21:00 AM

I'm not sure why or how this works (need to check the website again for that) but it does. I was having bad reaction to Hada Labo arbutin toner (the blue one) with tiny red spots all over my face that weren't pimples. Enter this totally inconspicuous and seemingly useless water spray bought on a complete whim. Used it twice/three times a day. My skin was clear and calm in three days. I don't really wear makeup that much anymore these days except for mascara and lipstick, so I'm not sure if this helps to set makeup. This works better than Evian, though, and certainly better than putting regular tap water into a portable bottle spray, because I tried that. Did not work.

Mascara -Revlon - Custom Eyes

NO. Just... no. It flakes like crazy after three hours and the flakes get into my eyes and I start looking crazy... I bought this because I thought it could be a nice dupe for MAC Haute & Naughty. At first try it actually made my lashes impressively curly and defined. But no. I repeat, no.

Masks -The Body Shop - Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask
rated 4 of 5

It's a very good product to suck out those pesky clogs on the pores around my nose, forehead and chin. I can't use it on my cheeks because it's too irritating to them. Actually using it too often is also irritating so I limit my use to once a week, or when I'm feeling too dull and clogged. Leaves skin soft and not too drying (if, again, used sparingly and not too often).

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Rare Earth Pore Minimizing Lotion
rated 2 of 5
sangrmahlia 3/29/2012 3:11:00 AM

Leaves my skin feeling powdery. I don't know. It was weird. Also weird is that I bought it because I previously got a sachet sample and I found it very nice, but using it for an extended period of time apparently gives a different result. At the end of it my pores were too shrunken my face turned oily (compensating for the dehydration I bet) and my skin stopped absorbing products.

Cleansers -Kiehls - Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser
rated 2 of 5

Not very good. It's drying, but at the same time it leaves this weird film over my face, then I end up having to either mix it with another cleanser, or cleanse my face over altogether. Thankfully it was only a sample.

Moisturizers -L'Occitane - Rice Ultra-Matte Face Fluid
rated 4 of 5
sangrmahlia 3/29/2012 3:05:00 AM

Very good product with just the right amount of hydration that leaves the skin not oily but not too matte or dry as well. It actually ends up looking dewy and feeling very fresh too, and the scent is sweet and pleasant but not overpowering at all.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Hiruscar PostAcne gel
rated 5 of 5
sangrmahlia 3/29/2012 3:01:00 AM

I have only been using this for two weeks and I can see the significant difference on my post-acne marks. The discolorations are nearly gone and the pits have improved considerably. The only downside is the packaging is meh and there isn't that much amount of product, so I suspect I'll have to buy another tube or two until all the scarrings are completely gone. But I'm definitely recommending it!

Cleansers -Shu Uemura - Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/I
rated 4 of 5
sangrmahlia 3/29/2012 2:55:00 AM

I deem this as that product I miss after I realize I don't have it anymore. The reason behind it is when I was on my first bottle I thought, meh. I decided to switch to the pink one for my second bottle (the one for pore-clarifying) and then I see the difference. The pink one dries my skin out and it leaves it dehydrated but oilier, and doesn't absorb any product I put on my face. Also all my hydrating products stop working. I realize it's not those hyaluronic acid making my skin bouncy with water but this oil. In short I am quitting pink and returning to ol' faithful frosted yellow.

Cleansers -Shu Uemura - High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil Fresh
rated 2 of 5
sangrmahlia 3/29/2012 2:49:00 AM

It dries skin out. I think it's because it shrinks the pores so much. I'm a little disappointed because I was using the premium A/I (i think) for sensitive skin, which can get a little sticky, so the shopkeeper suggested me this one. Apparently my skin is not as oily as Shu Uemura thinks oily skin is. The worst thing about products that dry your skin out is, eventually, it turns skin even oilier but dehydrated. That being said, this still comes with the perfect cleansing quality like the rest of them. Just not for my skintype.

Cleansers -Derma E - Fruit Enzyme Facial Scrub
rated 3 of 5
sangrmahlia 3/29/2012 2:42:00 AM

I'm not really sure if this product is really useful to me. The cream contains an ingredient that leaves a film over my skin after and I had to use another cleanser to rinse that off. The granules are meh. I only use it on my forehead and nose and chin as an extra-scrub every time I feel too dull on the face.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion
rated 3 of 5
sangrmahlia 3/29/2012 2:37:00 AM

I went from using the toner from the white line to this after abandoning a doctor's prescribed treatments for my post-acne discolorations that I think were just too harsh. As with the rest of the Hada Labo products, it's kind and gentle to the skin, although after about a week of using this product (in place of the white line toner) I started noticing that this is not as hydrating as the regular one. I also experience tiny tiny bumps around my cheeks if I use too much, so now I limit my use to once a day (night time). On the bright side, it helps brightening my overall complexion, although I don't think it will do much to the scars. I'd probably go back to the regular one after this.

Makeup Brushes -Elizabeth Arden - Face Powder brush
rated 5 of 5
sangrmahlia 1/5/2012 5:22:00 AM

Amazing amazing amazing brush on very reasonable price. I got the promotional package from Changi airport. It has the original size and a smaller size that can fold out and fit into a compact (immediately threw the original out from my Benefit Hello Flawless, that brush is hopeless compared to this). I have zero experience with brushes but I can definitely tell it does a better job than any other brush I've used, because it blends the powder product very softly and effortlessly and the end result looks flawless.
