Loose Powders -E.L.F. - Studio High Definition Powder
sanckensmom 11/1/2012 9:17:00 AM
I have three targets in my town, only one sells a huge selection of E.L.F products. I have the MUFE version of this silica powder, so I can do a just comparison. This product was $5.00 on sale. It really does diffuse the look of large pores, does not allow my skin to get shiny throughout the day ( I use if over primer and ELDW) and does not break me out. You get a huge amount of loose powder, the container screws on so no messy spills. It does look slightly white and powdery once applied, but I remedy this by spritizing my face with UD all nighter spray and voila, it melds into my skin.. To the posters that do not recommend E.L.F products all I can say is try it for yourselves, I can see no difference between this and the HE MUFE version.
I have a slew of eye make up removers, from Lancome's Bi-facial, to Milani (had to order from MIlanis website) to Sonia K....and have tried al the DS varieties. I stumbled upon this remover at TJ Maxx, and have fallen in love with it. It cost $14.99, so it is extremely expensive imho for an eye make remover, but it is awesome...removes ever trace of WP mascara and WP eyeliner, that even my MAC cleanse off oil cannot do! I have since bought a second bottle and would have cleaned out the stock, but this is all they had. If you struggle with removing stuburm WP makeup, be on the lookout for this at TJMaxx, it is worth it's weight in gold, plus, it doesn't burn, is not greasy, does not blur eyes, and it is in a squess bottle, so no messy spills!
Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara
sanckensmom 11/1/2012 9:03:00 AM
I don't know what I was thinking, I normally buy all mascaras in the WP version, as my lashes will not hold a curl otherwise! I fell into the hype of this newest mascara (no WP version available yet) and while it did not clump at all, it also added zero volume or length. It says "volume" on the package, so that was not true. I returned mine, because I have other mascaras that do not clump and hold a curl. If you are looking for a very natural look for daywear, and already have long lashes, this could be the mascara for you, but I love volume and va-va boom lashes, even in the daytime!
I have this mascara in the regular and waterproof version. The regular tube is a wet formula and the WP was dry when new. The only way I can get this mascara to work for me is to apply to curled lashes in quick fan like motion straight up. I need just two coats. It then gives me long, defined lashes. If I zig zag this mascara it will clump horribly. I had MUFE's aqua lash and MUFE smokey lash before this and I like this one better! I have also used the non waterproof version of this mascara on top of Sheisedo's base and I swear my lashes looked fake. They were so long and well defined. I think this mascara is as good as high end if you fan it out and take your time applying it I also allow one eye to dry and then come back and add a second coat. To sum it up, the non waterproof is so wet, I will only use it over a primer base, but for daily wear, the waterproof creates a very natural look that I am quite pleased with. Not HG, but better than anything I have tried yet and I am a complete mascara junkie! EDIT....after a week of using this, I realized late in the day it flaked on me, NOT good, therefore, will not repurchase.
Liquid -La Roche Posay - Toleriane-Corrective Fluid Foundation
sanckensmom 6/23/2008 11:05:00 AM
I am on the fence about this product. I said I would not repurchase, but I am using this foundation now. I ordered this foundation site unseen and got beige sable, which is too dark for me, so I was only using it on small parts over my EL double wear to add a little bit more coverage to reddish areas (specifically, the tip of my nose). But now that I am really tan and dark this summer, my EL Double wear in Fresco is way too light, so I got this out of my drawer and lo and behold it is perfect now with my tan color! Yay, I am excited because I am too cheap to go get a darker EL Double wear just to use for summer! These are the things I do not like about it: It settles into the lines in my forhead no matter what primer I use beforehand :( This would not be a problem if I had Botox though! Also, my face gets oily within a couple of hours and I never, ever have this problem with EL Double wear. I do not have oily skin and never use blot papers, etc. This foundation definetely produces oil in my face, which is not pleasant to have to double check my face so often. What I do like about it: complete coverage and pretty flawless looking skin. It is more full coverage than the EL Double wear but still not mask like or unatural in my opinion. If you have any dry skin, this foundation will cling to it and show the flakes though. Therefore, I would not repurchase, but will use up what I have and next summer, I will just buy one EL Double wear in one shade darker to get me through my tan summer months.
Gels/Soaps -California Baby - Super Sensitive Shampoo & Bodywash
sanckensmom 6/20/2008 8:19:00 PM
My daughter, who just turned 8, has the most sensitive skin. Everything burns (so she says!) when I bathe her. I have tried it all and until I found this at Target, baths were never fun. True, this does not suds much, but possibly, that is why it is so gentle? It never burns her sensitive areas and bathing is a easy now. It was expensive for a body wash, but I do like the packaging and the pop lid on top, will make traveling with it easy. I would definetely recommend and I will continue to repurchase. Worth the price! EDIT: This ended up being to harsh for my daughter, we have since switched to Johnson and Johnson oatmeal wash and she loves it!
This product did nothing for me at all, so therefore I cannot recommend at all. I used two bottles of this so I gave it a fair shot. Pantene just does not work for me at all.
I totally agree with the review below mine. I bought two bottles of this stuff on sale. It did dry my polish fast, but then the next day, no matter what polish I used, the entire thing would peel off and take all my polish with it! What a rip off...After reading so many glowing reviews of this stuff and then trying it over and over again always to the same peeling polish the next day, I was begining to think I was the only one this was happening to....this stuff is the worst....It is a recipe for a ruined manicure everytime. I do not recommend this to anyone.
Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
sanckensmom 6/11/2008 5:35:00 PM
I got a sample of this and tried it a few times. I guess for a moisturizer only it is fine, but as make up...NO way...this just sunk into my skin as if I had nothing on my face, so I don't see the point in it at all. I threw the sample away as there was no need to finish it. I don't even understand what this is for? If I want to wear lotion that gives some coverage like a sheer foundation, this would never fit the bill...total dud in my opinion.
Pressed Powders -Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder (ALL)
sanckensmom 6/11/2008 5:28:00 PM
First of all, who would sell a pressed powder with no powder puff?! Secondly, a screw off lid, just strange...I bought Transparent and only bought it hoping to use a tiny dusting over my concealer to set it because another MUA user used the old discontinued Rimmel powder to set her concealer. Well...no matter how tiny of the amount I lightly dusted on, it aged me 10 years, just total crepiness...Will not repurchase or use again even for a face powder, as I use MAC blot and don't trust anything else :)
Makeup Brushes -Unlisted Brand - aSquirrel makeup brush set
sanckensmom 6/11/2008 1:05:00 PM
This company was a nightmare to deal with! I have never had such terrible customer service. The first set of brushes I received, All of them shed profusely!!!! When I ordered, I never got a confirmation, never knew when they would arrive. It took a month for me to get my brushes...Email after email went ignored. It was a struggle to get my replacement brushes and I never was reimbursed for my shipping to Hong Kong, like the website promises. After waiting another month, I got my replacement brushes, but they still shed slightly. They are very soft, but honestly, too soft to really apply blush to the face as the color doesn't show up enough. I wish I had just paid more for MAC in the first place, because if you are not satisfied, you can return it locally and get it done right away. I spent two months dealing with this company and it's seemingly non existent employees, and it was exhausting and totally not recommended.
This product made my scalp itch for days and I do not have a sensitive scalp. I returned it to Earth Fare.
Lotions/ Creams -Desert Essence - Pistachio Foot Repair Cream
sanckensmom 6/10/2008 4:05:00 PM
I feel the exact opposite from the reviewer below mine. To me, this is the most pungent pistachio smell ever, maybe she got a rancid tube?! There is no perfume smell, just totally nuts to me...this is why I do not like it, I threw it away...I hate minty things on my feet, just hate tingly things in general, so I don't use any lotions made for feet per se. I got a generous tube of this and had to toss it bc I could not tolerate sleeping with this nut smell on my feet. I guess if you wore socks you could mask the smell, but I don't wear socks to bed...oh well, the fragrance ruined this one for me as well.
Self Tanners -Sally Hansen - Airbrush Legs - Medium Glow
sanckensmom 6/10/2008 12:53:00 PM
I have very pale skin but am MACNC30-35 in the face. I never tan my body, so it is white! I just had my dd bday party at a pool and wanted to wear white shorts. I did not exfoliate, or put lotion on my legs, but shaved right before application. I used gloves and sprayed the tan make up into the gloves (not much) and applied in sections. I had zero streaking at all. This covered all my spider viens and white skin and looked great from a distance, even in the bright sun. This is make up for your legs, it does not look natural very very close, but even my fiance did not know I had it on, so it look's good! It serves the purpose for special occasions. I would not wear this everyday. It did rub off onto my new white shorts on the inside, but I put zout on it, threw it in the washer and they were as good as new. I would try it, but use gloves and spray into the gloves, not onto your body....
A few months ago, found these at the salon at Walmart packaged with full sizes of Bed head after party, so I bought three big bottles. I am just now getting around to trying out the shampoos and other than the pink bottle, pink color to the shampoo, pleasant smell, I hate the shampoo...uggg and I have 3 big bottles to go through. My hair was a tangley mess after using this tonight. Maybe I will finish it up on my eight year old's fine hair because there is NO way I can use this on my hair...
