Conditioner -Living Proof - no frizz conditioner
samhainophobia 3/7/2011 2:38:00 AM
I've been using Living Proof shampoo and conditioner pretty much exclusively since they came out (I'll use something else once or twice a month if I feel the need for a clarifying shampoo). I've also used almost all of the styling products, which I'll review separately. I originally bought Living Proof s&c on a business trip, when I saw my reflection in a store window and was so horrified at the size of my hair that I scurried into the Sephora on the next block. The Living Proof line had just come out the month before, and although it was expensive, anything that promised "no frizz" sounded pretty good to me right then. It turned out to be an inspired purchase and I've never strayed since. It's actually completely transformed my hair. Living Proof is CG (Curly Girl) - friendly -- it contains no SLS and no silicones. When I switched over to using CG-friendly haircare for several years, my formerly lackluster, wimpy waves turned into gorgeous tumbling curls. (Note: this isn't unusual -- check out the NaturallyCurly.com forums for amazing before and after photos!). In addition, the Living Proof products delivered on their "no frizz" claim -- my hair is soft, glossy, and frizz-free. Expensive stuff (though I do my best to stock up during the F&F sales), the candy-orange scent isn't really my cup of tea, and the packaging could be improved (flip-tops on the bottles snap off very easily, allowing water to get in/bacteria to grow if the product is not transferred to a different bottle, which is a pain), but I'll keep buying anyway, because my hair has *never* looked this good.

Hair -Jonathan - Redo

This stuff is the bomb. First things first -- it's a restyler/refresher, NOT a dry shampoo substitute. If you need something to soak up oil, get a dry shampoo. There are tons of great ones out there, and I guarantee that there is one to match your needs! (Ex. tinted for dark hair; different types of applicators depending on what you find easiest -- shaker bottles, long pointy nozzles, aerosol spray cans, preloaded brushes; lots of different scents; etc.). If you're looking to this product for that purpose, you will be disappointed. I use Redo on my shoulder-length hair (fine, color-treated, curly) on the second or third day after shampooing as needed to re-form my curls. I generally apply by flipping my head over, spraying 15 or 20 pumps (enough to make sure I saturate all areas), and then scrunch with my head still upside-down. Hair comes out looking terrific -- in many cases better than freshly washed/styled hair! Works great in conjunction with a root lifting spray (I like Living Proof) and flexible hold hairspray of choice.

Treatments -Qtica - Cuticle treatment cream

Simply the best. I've tried all the other recommended cuticle treatments -- I've tried Lemony Flutter, Burt's Bees, and the cuticle oils, CND Cuticle Eraser. I didn't like any of them. None of them resulted in any improvement whatsoever in my cuticles. The Qtica stuff is FABULOUS. It's thick, it stays put (unlike the oils -- what a mess), and after one application my horrible cuticles are unrecognizable. I mean...wow. Soft, supple, hydrated...*thud*. I didn't think it was possible. This stuff is worth every penny, this stuff. It's definitely a bedtime treatment, because it's thick and doesn't sink in and go away, but I will be keeping it by my bed and using it every night. Love! ♥ (And I actually LIKE the scent!)
