Treatments -Estee Lauder - Advanced Night Repair (Serum)
salbaliao 4/27/2013 10:12:00 PM
After hearing so many great reviews on this product, I decided to invest on this serum. I don't remember exactly how much I paid, but I think it was approximately $110 tax in. I really wanted to love this product, but unfortunately I am quite disappointed. I apply it every night before my night cream, but the serum did nothing for my skin. I have very dry skin, and the serum was just not moisturizing enough, and I also didn't notice any significant improvements with my skin like minimizing pores. I am still on the hunt for the perfect serum for me, and I don't think I will be purchasing this serum again.

Treatments (Eye) -Origins - High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral-enriched eye cream
salbaliao 8/21/2012 7:38:00 PM
Despite some negative reviews, I actually quite like this eye cream. I've been using it for about 2 months and didn't experience the burning and stinging that some reviews mentioned. I understand why this eye cream is recommended for evening use only. It comes in a creamy texture, but as soon as you apply it, it becomes and oil base. It is therefore hard to imagine applying it during the day. I use to have extremely dry skin around my eyes, and whatever I put near it will cause it to sting like crazy. This eye cream really hydrated the skin around my eye, and I now have hydrated eyelids!!! The reason why I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because it doesn't do anything in terms of removing or improving fine lines. In conclusion, if you're looking for hydrating, this is worth a try. But if you're looking for an eye cream with anti-aging properties, this will likely not meet your expectation.

Moisturizers -Shiseido - White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion
salbaliao 7/6/2012 9:37:00 PM
I've been using this for about 2 months now, and I don't really notice any difference to my skin. Although my skin is probably a tad brighter, the results are not dramatic or even that noticeable. It is also supposed to be a moisturizer, but the consistency is way too runny and thin to be moisturizing. For those ladies that are looking for a product that will whiten and brighten the skin, this may be a disappointment. This is not a cheap moisturizer, so for the price I paid, this is definitely not worth it. However, i'm giving it 3 lipsticks because it is not a terrible product, it is just not very effective in terms of brightening the skin tone.

Sunscreen -Clinique - Super City Block SPF 40
salbaliao 7/6/2012 9:27:00 PM
This is a pretty good sunscreen. What I like about it is that it has a sheer tint to it, so after application, you donn't need to apply a face full of foundation and concealer. However, like a lot of sunscreens out there, it gives my skin a greasy whitish look at first, but the problem can be solved with a little bit of powder or foundation. I only wear this when I know I will be exposed to the sun for a long period of time, otherwise I just wear my foundation with spf15. I don't remember how much i paid for this, but once i run out, it is likely that I would purchase this again.

Toners -Elizabeth Arden - Hydra-Splash Alcohol Free Toner
salbaliao 5/27/2012 10:43:00 AM
I never used toner as part of my skin care regimen until recently. I noticed my skin was dull and lifeless so I decided to use a toner. I picked this one up because I have very dry sensitive skin and this product claims it "hydrates" the skin. Another attractive bonus is that it is alcohol free. It is very gentle on the skin, and the best part is that it really takes off all the excess oil and makeup product that I missed with my cleanser. I used it after my cleanser at night, and since I don't wash my face with a cleanser in the morning because it strips my skin of the little oil that I produce, I use this toner to wipe my skin. I've used this for about 3 weeks now and really noticed a difference to my skin. I am not sure if all alcohol free toner will produce similar results since this is my first toner, but I am really liking the results and will def purchase again.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Differin Cream
salbaliao 5/27/2012 10:29:00 AM
My skin break out during that time of the month, and I use Differin during those time and I find that I really does clear it up faster.. It is also not drying, but that's also probably because i use the low dosage version. I use it both night and day as a spot treatment, I don't use it all over my face. I really think it's working and would purchase it again but only if I have medical benefits. The reason why I gave it a 3 for price is because it is quite pricey if you don't have medical benefits, if you do, then it's almost free, so a lot cheaper and a lot more effective than buying drug store brands.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole ULTRA [DISCONTINUED]
salbaliao 5/1/2012 2:18:00 PM
I do not like this foundation. Yes, it offers very good coverage, but I find it way too drying. I have normal/dry skin, but this foundation makes my skin look and fee very very dry. This product is best suited for those with oilier complexion. My sister also purchased this, and she loves it, and it makes her skin look flawless. It is also quite pricey for a bottle of foundation, I paid $56 for it (tax included) and I live in Canada. I went out and bought myself another foundation for a lot less and works a lot better for me. Currently, I am using Almay the 16 hour coverage one. I only use the Lancome foundation as a concealer or in areas that require more coverage. Bottom line, I would not purchase this product again, not because it is a bad product, but it is just not suitable for my skin type.

Moisturizers -Clarins - Hydra Quench Cream
salbaliao 5/1/2012 2:10:00 PM
I used to use Clinique Moisture Surge Intense but it wasn't moisturizing enough. I decided to try this cream, and purchased the version for very dry and cold climate skin. The price is a little bit more expensive than Clinique but the quality is a lot better. I paid about $50 for this cream and this is definitely helping with my very dry skin. I love the texture of it, although it is thick, it is not sticky and it absorbs pretty quickly. I also like the smell, it is light and very pleasing. I also use Rose hip oil before applying this cream to ensure that my skin gets all the moisture is deserves. Overall a really good cream and would definitely purchase again.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
salbaliao 3/6/2012 1:10:00 AM
I understand this cleanser works for many, but it does not work for me. I have dry skin, and this dries it out some more. Although it is recommended for all skin type, I think it is more suitable for normal, combo, or oily skin. Immediately after my shower, my skin feels tight and it also starts flaking. I got this from my bestfriend, although I love her, I don't love this gift in particular.

Treatments -Rene Furterer - Complexe 5 Regenerating Extract
salbaliao 3/6/2012 12:54:00 AM
I have a very dry scalp so I try to do an oil treatment on my scalp at least once a week. I alternate between this and the Phyto elixir, also purchased at Sephora. Although the two differ in essential oil, they produce relatively the same results. The only reason why I am sticking to this one is because this oil is cheaper and comes in a bigger bottle. The application process is fairly easy. I divide my hairs in section, and apply a few drops on each section. For the back of my scalp, i put some on my fingertips (not the palm of your hand!) and massage my scalp. I leave the oil in for about 30 mins-1 hour. The down side is that although I am fine with the aroma, those around me hates it, and tells me I smell like a granny, or one time, my boyfriend said I smell like fish...........

Masks -My Beauty Diary - Pearl Powder mask
salbaliao 2/10/2012 12:30:00 AM
I tried two MBD masks; this one and the Bulgarian White Rose. I like this one a lot more. If you're looking to brighten/whiten your skin, this does the job, albeit the effects are only temporary. However, since it is a relatively cheap masks, it is really worth it. Just don't expect drastic and permanent changes to your skin tone. For this reason, I use it before I go out to special events. It gives a glow to the skin, it's worth it, even if it is a temporary glow =) Will definitely buy again.

Masks -My Beauty Diary - Bulgarian White Rose mask
salbaliao 2/10/2012 12:20:00 AM
I've tried two MBD masks: Bulgarian White Rose and the While Pearl. I find the Bulgarian White Rose mask doesn't do much. It does however brighten up your skin tone for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, the results disappears the very next day. Since MBD masks are fairly cheap in comparison to other masks, I use them before I go out partying or before a job interview to brighten up my skin that day. I will continue to buy MBD masks in the future but I will probably not buy Bulgarian White Rose.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Intense
salbaliao 2/10/2012 12:13:00 AM
I was once a fan of Clinique's Moisture Surge Gel. Unfortunately over the past month, my skin has gone from normal/dry to very dry. As a result to this sudden change in my skin condition, the regular Clinique Moisture Surge no longer works in keeping my skin moisturized. I have decided to purchase the Intense version, and this version is a lot more moisturizing. Instead of a gel texture, it is much creamier, and thicker in consistency. Although it keeps my skin moisturized, I find it a little sticky at times. However, it terms of keeping my skin moisturize, it is doing its job so I will continue to buy it until I find something that works better.

Masks -Elizabeth Arden - Hydrating Mask
salbaliao 12/23/2011 1:25:00 PM
This is a really good mask. It smells nice, it really hydrates, and it actually brightens my skin. I usually use this 2-3- times a week, and leave it on for 15-30 minutes. Immediately after washing it off, my skin looks brighter, clearer, and a lot more hydrated. I don't normally use masks, and this is the first mask I ever purchased. However, this mask really makes a difference and I would def be purchasing this again!! it really works!!!

Shampoo -Rene Furterer - CARTHAME, Moisturizing milk shampoo
salbaliao 12/23/2011 1:14:00 PM
I suffer from a really dry scalp, so I have to buy a very moisturizing shampoo. I used drug store brands e.g. pantene, H&S, you name it i probably used it. I find that drug store shampoo are not moisturizing enough for my dry scalp so I decided to try more expensive shampoo. I tried PHYTO from Sephora, didn't do much for my hair and the packaging really sucked. So finally i decided to try Rene Ferterer Carthame Milk MOisturizing shampoo for very dry hair/scalp. It really did help with the itching and flaking, but for $30 for a small bottle, i'm not sure if it's worth it. It doesn't really lather much, so you have to apply, massage, rinse, and then repeat a second time. I will buy this product again, only because I don't know of a better shampoo that will help with my extremely dry scalp, especially during the winter season.
