Liquid -Lancome - Absolue BX foundation
saddle57 12/9/2012 10:39:00 AM
For starters, I only got a sample of the Lancome Absolue BX Foundation in the color Ecru. I did see the bottle as the lady was applying it, and it was a pump, which I prefer. I believe it is in the $ 30.00 to $40.00 range. I am looking for a foundation that is full coverage and is for mature dry skin. The lady told me it was full coverage. I beg to differ. I put it on and on, and it was not covering like I had hoped. It was very hydrating, but did feel a bit slick. IMO it is medium coverage. It also made me look bit ashy after wearing it for awhile as well. For that price, I would not purchase.

Fragrances -Lancome - Magie Noire EDT
saddle57 10/10/2012 6:18:00 PM
I just purchased Magic Noire from Lancome, and it came today. All I can say is, boy did it take me back. This new version is lighter, but still packs a punch. Since I just got it, I'm not sure how long it will last on me. I will do an update review. For now, I will just bask in the lovely fragrance. The bottle is pretty, but i do miss the black top bottle that was on the original fragrance.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
saddle57 9/2/2012 11:18:00 AM
Ok, I've only had this for a few days so maybe it's not fair to judge quite yet. Here are the pros and cons so far. Goes on nicely, blends in beautifully, and does last quite a long time. The cons... I think it broke me out. I am a mature person who does not have pimples. I have two on my chin. Yuck. I probably could have chosen a different color too. I have Sand Beige 200 thinking it would be a neutral color, and it is. The problem is it looks gray on the skin . It is so hard to get a good color match. What is up with these cosmetic companies! This one is going back to Target. I believe I paid around $12.00. I used Revlon's Colorstay, and it did not break me out.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup
saddle57 8/26/2012 10:42:00 PM
I have mature, dry skin, and this product made me have an oil slick on my face in about an hour. I must say it went on nice, blended well, but just went south soon after. You better stay away from this one if you have very oily skin to begin with. I did not use a setting powder, because they usually cake up on me. Powders also settle in my lines. I returned it.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
saddle57 6/17/2012 9:58:00 PM
This review is for the MUFE HD Foundation. I so wanted to like this product, because of the rave reviews it got. Well, my skin said "NO". I want to start off by saying that I got a sample first from Sephora. I did not want to take a chance on a $42.00 foundation, and have to return it. I gave it a 5 star rating for the pump that I tried out in the store. I really like a pump. I moisturized first then applied it with my Sigma F80 brush. I usually prime my skin, but did not this time. I wanted to see how it was without a primer. It went on quite nicely, and the color the makeup artist chose for me was really a good match. My color was 127. I would say for me it was not full coverage. It appeared to be medium coverage. I need full coverage. At that price I would not want to keep adding layers either. This was going to be my special occasion makeup, so I wanted to use it sparingly. It felt nice and light on my skin, but then about 2-3 hours later my face looked greasy. Mind you, I have very, very dry mature skin even in hot humid weather. I never look that oily. When I went to remove it, there was spots on my face where the makeup had grabbed dry patches. I must say the color selection was excellent, but for me it was a no go. I will stick to my Rimmel 24 Long Lasting Foundation for now.

Fragrances -Jimmy Choo - Jimmy Choo
saddle57 6/17/2012 7:46:00 AM
Since perfume is very personal, for me, Jimmy Choo perfume did not work on my skin. I did not purchase the product, but got a sample of it from Sephora. I'm so glad that I did. I am not sure how anyone can wear this in a closed in area. Another poster said that "someone wears this in her office"?? How rude! I worked in a closed space for a couple of weeks with a woman who wore Estee Lauder's Youth Dew. UGH!! This is a screaming concoction of fruity florals. It is a little spicy too. For me it was cloying and overly sweet. You would have to spray it on from arms length to apply it. If any closer to your body it would be over applying it. I have been collecting perfumes and perfume samples for awhile now, and have noticed a similarity in many of them. They smell so alike! So very "in your face"! I guess if you want to be noticed, and can't afford Jimmy Choo shoes get the perfume. It is pricey, but much less than the shoes. I would suggest trying a sample first.

Fragrances -Carolina Herrera - 212
saddle57 5/11/2012 4:20:00 PM
I just received Carolina Herrera 212 perfume today. I only bought the tiny one, and I'm glad I did. It is so strong! Someone else said "it enters a room before you do, and stays after you leave". How true! It smells just like another perfume, but I can't put my finger on it. I wanted to like this, but I just don't. It does soften a little after an hour. Mine is the EDT. Maybe the EDP smells better, but not this version. I like a perfume to be fresh and a little powdery and soft. This is like a barrage of alcohol and flowers. Will not repurchase.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Lady Speed stick, Stain Guard
saddle57 3/4/2012 9:47:00 AM
Lady Speed Stick Stain Guard is NOT! At least for me it's not. I went to a job interview hoping this was going to work for me. OMG! My shirt was more wet than when I started out. The powder fresh smell is ok, but for me it just did not deliver. I'm trying really hard to find a deodorant that controls wetness. All of my white t-shirts are stained. I guess my search continues. Oh, by the way... I got the job!

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
saddle57 2/27/2012 11:45:00 AM
I just gave the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation a try, and I was hoping to like it but I can't. It has such good reviews, but for me, it's not a good match for my dry mature skin. I just got a sample, so I didn't have to return it. The color was Desert Beige, and it might have been a shade too light for me. I put moisturizer on first like I always do, and then applied it with my flat top Sigma kabuki brush. I felt I needed to work a little fast, because it seemed to dry a little bit too fast for my liking. After I was done, it seemed ok, but not great. It accentuated my pores and later on it seemed to settle into my lines and caked up a bit too. I wanted to have a high end foundation on hand for special occasions, but it won't be this product. It just did not work with my skin type. The price was around $38.00, and when I pay that much for a foundation it better perform for me.

Shampoo -Neutrogena - Triple Moisture cream lather shampoo
saddle57 11/27/2011 3:06:00 PM
I have been using the Neutrogena Moisture Cream Lather Shampoo for about 2 months now, and must say it is one of the best drugstore shampoos I have used. When I'm in the shower I put about a quarter size amount in my palm, and massage it in my hair. I leave it on for about 2-3 mins. For me, that is the key. Besides moisturizing my very dry, mature hair, it seems to plump it up as well. The smell is pleasant, and the packaging is very good too. For me, it really has helped my hair. It is more manageable and soft. The price was under $10.00, and I would repurchase.

Concealers -Laura Geller - Real Deal Full Coverage Cream Concealer
saddle57 8/21/2011 11:52:00 AM
I purchased a package deal that included the Laura Geller Real Deal Full Coverage Concealer and a few other items. This is not one of my favorite items in the package. I'll start by saying it did cover my dark circles. The main problem for me was it settled in my fine lines, because it's so greasy. I shook it up, but that is difficult, because of the shape of the squeeze tube. A little goes a long way. I probably should have purchased the light shade, because the medium is a little too dark for me. It won't really matter, because I can't wear it anyway.

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze Gelee in medium deep
saddle57 8/16/2011 1:44:00 PM
Could someone please tell me why the manufactures have to put fragrance in just about everything? Not everyone likes to have fragrance from head to toe, especially on your legs. The Sublime Bronze Gelee has a really bad smell to it, IMO. I put it on this morning, and the smell is still very strong. The product itself goes on quite nicely, and the color for me is a light tan even though it's a medium shade. I think it might get splotchy when it's wearing off, but then it could be the way the lighting is. I'm not sure about that. Anyway, I would not purchase this again, because of the smell.

Concealers -Eve Pearl - Dual Salmon Concealer & Treatment
saddle57 7/21/2011 3:07:00 PM
I really wanted to like this product, but I have to say that I don't. Even though it glides on smooth, for me it was a bit greasy. It settled in my fine lines after a few mins. I'm 54, and that is a real deal breaker for me. The packaging is nice and the color was fine. I probably should have chosen one shade darker. I would keep it if it did not settle in my lines. I also used a primer and set it with powder. It was expensive as well.

Makeup Brushes -Sigma - F80 flat top synthetic kabuki
saddle57 5/26/2011 12:45:00 PM
I recently purchased the Sigma Flat Top Kibuki #F80, and I love it. I had been applying my liquid foundation with a Mac 109, and it was very good. The only problem with that brush for me was it sheds like crazy. I don't believe it was meant to be used for foundation to begin with. I just read good reviews about it, so I started using it that way. The Sigma F80 has super soft, very dense bristles, a handle that feels good in my hand, and the application is flawless. The best thing is it does not SHED! I have only been using it for about 2 weeks, so I can't comment on it's durability. From the way it feels, it's going to last a long time. I believe the cost was under $20.00. I would repurchase.

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation
saddle57 5/6/2011 12:33:00 PM
I have been using the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Liquid foundation for about 2 months now, and I'm really happy with it. I use it with a Mac 109 brush, and that works the best for me. It blends nicely, and the coverage is excellent. I have mature skin with acne scars, so nothing will make me perfect. It is hydrating as well. When I use a primer with it the coverage and staying power is even better. I have been using the ColorStay foundation for awhile, but I didn't want to tote a glass bottle around when traveling. The Rimmel container packs easier. I chose the 200 Soft Beige, and it matches quite well. The only thing I don't care about is the fragrance. I don't like my face products to have a scent, but I can live with it. The price was around $10 dollars. I can't wait till I test drive it this Summer, and see if it really holds up to the heat and humidity. I will repurchase. Update: I am still using this, and still love it. The only thing I'm doing differently is using a sponge or my Sigma flat top kabuki brush.I am also using the Laura Geller primer with it. Just amazing!
