Y'all....this is great. I thought I would never get on the EL bandwagon. I thought there were so many superior foundations for my skin. Hello. I have been on an EL high lately! And this foundation is such a surprise. I really didn't believe all of the hype. But it IS great. And it DOES last---oh my gosh---all day. The amazing thing is, the way it makes my blush last all day! Anything you put on top of it! The only negative thing is....the shades. I am between two. I am between two Warm shades, and I wish one was *perfect* for me. But I am willing to go a leeeeetle lighter (Sand) in order to have this flawlessness. Re-buy? You bet. I hope EL comes out with even more finessed shades, more yellow-based. :)
Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay Long-Wear Blush in Tipsy
sactonina 2/1/2011 8:58:00 PM
LOVE, people. It IS the shade of Tipsy! Just in a matte version. The compact is so cute, too, in the exact shade of the Tipsy Stain packaging. Okay, I am excited about these. I am def. getting more. This baby really is a true MATTE blush but it does not look flat on the skin, and I appreciate that. Sometimes you just need a good matte blush in a bright popping shade. This one IS surprisingly long-wearing, as well, for a powder blush. Try layering it over Tipsy stain after it sets for a minute. Good job, Tarte! I will try another color soon.
Blush -Urban Decay - Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tint in Fetish
sactonina 2/1/2011 8:50:00 PM
I really like this new tint in the cool dusty-pink/ light rosey shade of Fetish. Are you familiar with the Cover Girl blush Natural Twinkle? In my opinion, this is what a cream/gel version of it would look like. Swatched heavily on my arm, the CG blush is very similar. Anyway, it is very flattering. Pretty long lasting. (Holds up like others in this category). It looks gorg and natural on my lips, but doesn't last long. Honestly, I can do without the snake packaging....it just turns me off and looks grunge and lower-class (sorry). I do really like the purple! Also, it is kind of hard to open. I hate these kinds of compacts where you can't tell in a hurry which side it opens from (maybe it's just me!---ha). But I overall I am pleased, and am excited to try these new tints---good idea, UD! I seriously could have picked any of the shades....they are all gorgeous. I think I'll go back for Bang. ;)
I love these. I have 9, I think, total. They have a fantastic texture (so light, glide on) and a gorgeous range offlattering shades. They do not bleed, they do stain a bit---which I love---because it means lasting, and they have no irritable scent or taste. They are also inexpensive. The top is hard to get off----only real complaint.
Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Moonstone
sactonina 7/20/2010 7:36:00 PM
You know, I really like this one. It is one of the more sheer shades, as you don't get a dense shade of green. It is more of a golden green, sheered out. I do like this one on it's own for a subtle wash, but I mostly find that this one looks fantastic over shadows applied first. I think some of these are intended to be layered over more opaque eyeshadow bases to get the best effect.
Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Metallic Long Wear Cream Eyeshadow in Goldstone
sactonina 7/20/2010 7:30:00 PM
I love this one. It is one of the more "dense" metallic creams, in my opinion. Not just glitter in a clear base. Again, the shade is a perfect complex gold, not just blah gold. I thought, I have soooo many golds, and the Shiseido Hydropowder, etc. etc. in cream shadow form, who needs this? But......it is different enough to get, and I love the sparkly look these give my eyes. SO little effort, so fast, so lasting. I love it over eyeliners, and I love it on the lid as a wash. I will also love it, I'm sure, over different powder eyeshadows.
I'm starting to think Bobbi Brown is a god. Not THE God, but *a* god. (Hee hee hee, from one of my fave movies, Groundhog Day.) ANYWAY! This shade is such a surprise. Again. Who knew? It looks so blah in the pan, so *off* on my blush radar upon first consideration.....but it is *genius*. Just a gorgeous (to my eye) more "silvery" brown, as opposed to the constant golden-brown bronzer type shades. I'm so glad I tried it! It is one of those "multiple" shades. I can wear it on my cheeks, in the crease of my eye, and on the lips with a sheer shimmery white gloss over, and it looks great.
Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Gel eyeliner in Chocolate Shimmer
sactonina 7/20/2010 7:17:00 PM
Such a flattering shade, a shimmery dark chocolate, with a slight metallic plum cast....uhhhhh, it is so gorgeous on. Yum!
I agree with the previous review. DHC is by far the best cleansing oil out there, and I've tried a few. This does not improve my skin (i.e., I noticed blackheads reduced, pores cleaner with consistent use of the DHC.....) nor does it rinse off the way I like. Not worth the price. :(
Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Metallic Long Wear Cream Eye Shadow in Starry Night
sactonina 7/20/2010 7:10:00 PM
One of the more "sheer" of the metallic creams, nice over liners, especially blues and violets. I don't use it all over the lid as I find it too dark, and difficult to spread evenly, but *pressed* in a thick line over the top lash line makes my eyes sparkle! I do love it. ;)
Lipstick -Cover Girl - Continuous Color Lipstick in Rose Quartz
sactonina 6/22/2010 11:30:00 PM
As I listed in my general review on these lipsticks, pretty surprised to find how much I love these. This formula makes my lips look SO FULL. I must say I truly love the way this particular shade lights up my face right now.
Lipstick -Cover Girl - Continuous Color Lip Stick [DISCONTINUED]
sactonina 6/22/2010 11:27:00 PM
People! These are such a surprise find. I have found a couple of these shades to be extremely flattering, pretty darn long-lasting, and cheap! I have bought several now. Try them. Newest one that I've tried is Rose Quartz. It really works for me.
Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Bronze Shimmer
sactonina 6/22/2010 11:00:00 PM
You guys weren't kidding. This is the most perfect shade of bronze ever, in the most reliable liner formula out there. I have tried them all and this one is WORTH the price and the slight effort to apply. Other cream/gel liners just can't beat this one in my book. (I now own 6, and will get the three more that I have my eye on---Graphite, Ivy, Violet..... as soon as I can!)
Love, love, love this!!!! Oh my gosh---SCORE, Bobbi Brown. Love the whole darn thing. I don't love the price, and I don't actually really *like* palettes, as I prefer all of my shades separate from one another, but I am soooo glad I splurged on this one. The Antigua is flattering, but it is the new "oat" eyeshadow that I just love (can anyone do a more perfect natural, soft, matte, skin and eye-enhancing neutral than Bobbi Brown?), and the kitten lip color. So sexy!
What can I say? This is one of the most perfect shades ever, and the formula is fab. A true classic.
