Treatments -Tarte - Pure Maracuja Oil
ruthaida 3/9/2013 10:48:00 AM
This is for Tarte 100 percent pure organic maracuja oil. I have been looking for a serum that does not cause break-outs or increase the oiliness of my skin. It has lots of claims about leading to firmer, brighter, smoother skin but the only affect I see is that is is mosturizing and does not cause break-outs, it may do all of those things but they are not obvious to me. It also claims anti-inflammatory benefits, again since I use it during the day, I am not sure about all the claims of extra performance but is does absorb without any greasy or filmy feel. The only issue I have is that if I use it on my eyelids and do not let it absorb my mascara tends to run during the day but this is fixed with powder and applying early in the process of getting ready. I bought from QVC so it came with the concealer to try which is really great and it came in a beautiful box. It costs about $50 but lasts a very long time. I would buy again.

Concealers -Tarte - Maracuja creaseless concealer
ruthaida 3/9/2013 10:25:00 AM
Tarte's maracuja creaseless concealer provides long-lasting, full coverage I use along with Tarte's pure maracuja oil. This helps mask my dark circles. A small amount does goes a long way. This came with the oil but lasts a long time so good for the price if purchased individually. Would definitely buy again.

I am a runner and live in a cold climate so this product is great for everything. I use it on my feet before I go running to keep from getting blisters and also to help soften the heels. Also use on my legs as they get very dry in the winter. The smell is amazing. Inexpensive and just a realible staple.

Concealers -Laura Geller - Real Deal Full Coverage Cream Concealer
ruthaida 3/2/2013 5:58:00 PM
This was my first Laura Geller purchase from QVC and I am on a constant quest for my HG concealer but this is not the product that would suffice for me. This was expensive however a little bit of the product does go a long way. This concealer blends well and covers somewhat. The packaging seems small for the price and comes in a squeeze bottle with a flip cap (as others have mentioned). It is very creamy and shiny so I use a cover stick over this product to get it more matte. I would not buy again since it is overrated on what it can do and how it performs. I think adding powder to this makes it worse and changes the color. I bought the medium but it is a bit to dark for my olive skin color, which is surprising. I should have gone for the light.

Concealers -Boots - Quick Cover
ruthaida 3/2/2013 5:50:00 PM
I bought this product on clearance at Target so I am not sure if this is being discontinued since there are no other reviews. This is a cover stick that provides good opaque coverage. I use this over another concealer that has more mositurizing since it is a bit drying however the texture is good and the coverage is good and I am looking to achieve a more matte look versus shiny. If I use alone I do need to put on some moisturizer.

Foundations -Boots - No7 True Identity Foundation
ruthaida 3/2/2013 5:38:00 PM
I bought this on clearance at Target. I have been looking for an inexpensive foundation or BB cream. When I first saw that this product is self adjusting I was a bit confused as to what color to buy. I ended up choosing 02 Light, thinking it would adjust to my olive skin tone. The product provides sheer coverage although is says it is a foundation, which I disagree, more like tinted coverage. When I first placed the product on my fingers, I was shocked at the color, it was almost brown but once I put it on my skin it did adjust. The texture is really silky, they use the term "velvety", feels great so I am assuming it has a significant amount of silicone which I am always concerned with since I break out easily however no issues with break-outs. It does claim "non-pore blocking and fragrance free". It performs in a way that I was expecting, so this was a nice, surprising product.

I tried this from a relative who is a super seller. She sent me a trial sample to ensure I was not sensitive. I have been using for about 30 days now and I really like this product. It has some skin tightening properties and has improved the texture of my skin without causing break-outs. I have oliy skin so I am not getting any dryness. I use with some water to make it easier to distribute. I am sad that it costs so much so I don't know how long I can afford to keep buying at about $100 per 30 days. The container is pretty but it does not allow you to see how much is left in the container. Apparently you can pop the top off at the seam between below the lid but I have not tried that yet. If anyone has some that they don't like and would like to swap I would be interested. There are currently no products for this to swap which is odd since people either love it or hate it. I will update as I continue to use. It is not a miracle cure but has improved my skin texture without any negative effects.

Eyeliner -Boots - No7 Liquid Eyeliner
ruthaida 12/29/2012 3:37:00 PM
I am an eye liner fanatic so I like to try different brands. For years I have used Maybelline and love it but wanted to see if there was anything new on the market. I was at Target to buy another Boots product and picked this one up at a good cost but more expensive than Maybelline. So, it does not work well for me. It was rather transparent at times, flaky and did not have any staying power. I am going back. I will say that the packaging is not bad (I did not have the issues that others did) and the color (dark brown) was good but it did not work for me.

Bought this through ShopNBC in a special package of 4 products with a tinted moisturizer. This product came in a vial as described previously. I had no problems mixing but the powder never dissolved, ever. Did not see any improvements and it did not seem to do anything special. Other products not great either.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Mixed Chicks - Trial & Travel Sample Pack
ruthaida 7/31/2011 1:28:00 PM
I tried the Mixed Chicks Trial and Travel Sample pack that includes a .75 oz each of a shampoo, deep conditioner, and leave-in treatment for $0.99. It is a generous sampling in a great box package. I used a promo code from Prevention (nofrizzPR) to save 10%. Now, the shipping/handling is not so inexpensive, so that is where they make their money however they did send the product via FedEx ground so tracking is easy and shipping fast. I am hispanic with color-treated, wavy hair that is always frizzy so I am trying different products. I also bought some samples to send to my niece who has really tight, curly hair as well. I did purchase some other items just for fun, like their soaps and a gloss and shine hair silk. Will add other reviews for those. So far, I love the way my hair feels and looks. Normally, if I allow my hair to air dry it puffs out and looks frizzy, not as of today. So, if you want to try out a product, I would recommend this company. I am all for supporting companies who allow trial sizes and samples since it allows the consumer time to make a decision without spending tons of money or losing money for full-size products that do not work and sit around (the only plus is that they can be swapped - but still the money is lost).

Concealers -Unlisted Brand - Colortration Liquid Cover Makeup and Concealer
ruthaida 7/31/2011 1:03:00 PM
I purchased the sample kit in the lightest shades numbered 2, 3, 4, 5 ,7 and 10 . I am so glad I did try this instead of buying the bottle. I am happy that there are companies out there smart enough to at least provide samples, especially if blending might be required. For $37, I agree that it would be very expensive buy two and mix colors UNLESS you have a severe issue you are trying to cover. I have very dark circles and am always looking for something to help. I mixed several shades and did find a good color however even with moisturizer it did look cakey and created an apperance of heaviness and excessive make-up under my eyes. I will not purchase but am thankful for the opportunity to test out various colors and play. While I do think it is expensive for the amount of product, I am glad to have some travel samples. I am a bit concerned about the separation of the make-up into a yellow oil. I have never had any other foundations or concealers react that way. Overall, if you have roseacea, port-wine stain, dark spots on the face, freckles etc. this may work for you but try the samples. I want to encourage companies to provide samples at reasonable costs plus s/h while the cost may be more than I would want, the result allowed me to test for several weeks and make my decision.

Concealers -Revlon - ColorStay Under Eye Concealer
ruthaida 7/11/2011 3:19:00 PM
The packaging on the product is not great. You have to turn the dial to get any product to come up the top to a sponge and, as others have said, you cannot really control the amount. Also, I had to dial up to about the half-way mark before anything would even come out so you are really paying for about 1/2 the product that it appears to be. Does not last all day and cannot build the coverage. I bought 630 light/medium so it was fine for me but did not last. I would not buy again. Still on the hunt for my HG concealer.

Liquid -Wet 'n' Wild - Intuitive Blend Shade-Adjusting Foundation + Primer
ruthaida 7/8/2011 2:07:00 PM
I bought two colors, 176 (light/pale) and 177 (Medium/intermediate). Goes on a little runny with some crystals that need to be blended. I have pretty sensitive skin and it stung for the first 20 seconds on my skin, Then I noticed pimples by the end of the day so I had to stop using. Overall, I did not see any special effects from the primer and the color is minimal to non-existent. If there are any reviewers who want to try, I am placing this on my swap page. Can't hurt to try as a primer. I should have read the reviews before buying.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
ruthaida 7/1/2011 11:08:00 AM
Did something happen to this formula? I had used this several years ago and really liked it. I love to try different mascaras so I played around for awhile and decided to come back to this as it had always worked great but now the formula seems different. It clumps and did not provide any curl or definition at all and takes a long time to dry. I guess they are focusing on their other million types, I will not buy this one again. Sad, it was a good thing at one point.

Mascara -Maybelline - XXL Pro Volume Microfiber Mascara
ruthaida 6/24/2011 10:38:00 AM
I love to try different mascara's looking for my HG. This is not it. It flakes and does not create volume. The #1 side (primer) dried out so I thought the mascara would work well. It worked better alone but still flaked and did not curl my lashes at all. It caused them to straighten out. I would not recommend for the price. My hunt continues!
